A Twist of Fate: Dark Fate

Chapter Twelve

xXxXxXx

Kami was feeling a little overexposed to the bullshit narrative Kim had been fervently drafting since the beginning of summer. She was never one for violence. But her villainous role play was igniting something. Some desire. To screw the once pious path she was taking (decided around that failed lunch confrontation two days ago) to unravel the mystery of what the fuck was wrong with Kim.

"Boys," Kami purred while wiggling her fingers in a teasing hello in their direction. "I am looking for my dearest little sister. If we want to sell this drama to Maury or Lifetime, we gotta kick things up a notch."

"You didn't call me for my invite," Paul taunted, a glimmer of wildness sparked in his dark, knowing eyes. He was two seats from Jared. Squished between Seth and Jake. Opposite of Embry and Quil. They all had once been sitting. Now they were all standing upon her arrival.

Kami tutted as she circled around the round table. Causing each boy to sidestep from blocking her path when she oh so lovingly caressed their chests with her left hand when sauntering by. Evil Kami was a genius. She knew something was off. As overprotective these boys were, something about her was off limits. Unattainable. Despite their protective need to stalk her. In-between classes. After school detention. A spontaneous run. A farfetched conclusion only evil Kami could jump to based on the peculiar, intrusive people to pop up in her life as of late.

"We've arrived at the point in our relationship where the lying has to end." Kami spoke in a sultry voice, addressing no one in particular as she picked at some dirt she had just spotted under the black polished nail of her right ring finger. Her eyes surveyed her prey, looking for her next mistake before she skipped town. Or so she told herself. Dark Kami seemed to want to channel the more lustful side of her personality. An ode to her newfound single status.

But she would have to refocus on that later. Kim. Kim was her real prey right now. Her hunt for a hot side piece could be put on pause.

"Kim. Kimmy-Kim-Kim. Where are you?" She crooned. It was obvious Kim was hiding- or being shielded. But where? All the big oafs were exposed in her 360 walk-about. Kim was not so thin that she could slip into thin air and vanish.

Kami would have to bait her. Expose her sister to come out. And there was only one solid way to do that.

Jared.

Her path was set. She swayed her hips in an over the top yet alluring fashion as she took each deliberate step in her black pumps to Jared. Her tongue traced her lips in a slow, lazy eight figure as she didn't break eye contact from her target.

"No response?" Kami drawled as she took her last step towards the handsomely confused Jared.

"Uh-" Jared darted his eyes to his friends standing around the lunch table, silently asking what he hadn't responded to. Or what he had missed. "To what?"

"What I just mentioned. The lying between us. It has to stop, handsome." Kami sealed a quick wink to Jared on the casual term of affection she used.

"Lies?" Jared choked out, his face possibly torn between a nervous and cross expression.

"Lies," Kami confirmed with a quick nod of her head before jutting out her bottom lip.

"Can you elaborate more?" Jared's teeth bit down on his bottom lip. His distress was obvious to Kami. There was indeed a lie. A cover up. For Kim. Not just here and now. But a larger plot no one would admit to because they were bumbling baboons!

Kami offered her non-constructive criticism with a sly smile, "Think harder. Isn't it obvious I know?"

Kami gauged his reaction. Every tell of his panic was her winning ticket. But as much as she delighted in his squirming, she was here for Kim. Not Jared.

"Now don't get me wrong. I love this game. It's my all-time favorite since arriving here," she exclaimed with a certain brightness to her brown eyes, perhaps lost or masked with a her smokey eye color makeup.

Jared studied her face, attempting to understand what he had missed since his friends were obviously as clueless as he was. "What game?" He asked carefully.

Kami clapped her hands together looking at all of Jared's friends before landing her attention back on his face. "The 'How stupid do you think I am?' game." Her right eyebrow arched up, punctuating her point as the once excited look on her face swiftly snapped into an annoyed expression.

Just as the desperate panic swept over Jared's face, Kami pulled off the most ultimate betrayal to her sister to lure her out. She surprised Jared, taking advantage of current state, with quick stealth to secure his face between her hands and pull his head down a few good inches to plant an uninvited kiss on Jared's bright red right cheek. Before he could even react properly, Kami pulled away when she heard a familiar "you bitch" scream (last ironically delivered by her sister three years ago in a heated sisterly battle that actually made sense for them to fight about) and turned to face the direction of her sister's voice. And there Kim was. A few stretches of lunch tables away. Poking her plain face out from behind Leah's back.

Kami erupted into an evil cackle as she playfully waved her sister over. A cheerful invite to join the game that was afoot. Kim was an important player. Her participation was key. And Kami found no fault in Leah as she escorted Kim their way. Because every square inch of Leah's face revealed an "I hate my life" vibe. From one mistress of evil to another, Kami recognized her ally that was playing a part she had no choice about.

But Kami would hopefully set her free.

Because she was not lying when she had said 'How stupid do you think I am?' was her favorite game. It was perhaps the game she was best at too.

And she was about to bluff herself to all the fucking answers.

Because that's what a villainous does.

She cheats, lies, and schemes her way to the top.

Kami continued to offer her sister a feline smirk. Her prey had been trapped. All bets were off.

Maybe she would be rewarding Paul his prize from the bet after all, depending where this long over-due conversation would be steered.
