Republic City, Sato Estate.
Was she really about to do this? She was still having nightmares about the arena attack, and now she's about to storm Asami's house with Korra, Tenzin, Chief Beifong and her metal benders to question her dad? Sikenna took in a deep breath, not taking her eyes off the big wooden doors that welcomes you to the Sato Estate. She had to calm down. Korra was fine! Cool as a cucumber, so why couldn't Sikenna stop her hands from sweating so much?
The butler swung open the door and Sikenna gulped; this was it. She followed Korra inside as Tenzin and Chief Beifong trotted up the stairs to find Hiroshi, ignoring the two teenagers on the stair landing. Korra shot a look over her shoulder to Sikenna and the fire bender nodded in understanding, but it was Korra that Mako stopped.
"What's going on? Why are they asking Hiroshi more questions?" He asked Korra, annoyed that they were here, again, for his girlfriend's father. Sikenna slid up next to Korra to help her with Mako's quick temper.
"It's just a few more questions, Mako." Sikenna said softly to him, trying to keep the tempo of the conversation calm.
"If there's nothing to hide then there's nothing to worry about, right?" Mako's eyes softened a little as they looked back at her for a moment, but Korra pulled his attention back to her when she spoke.
"I overheard him on the phone yesterday. Asami, I don't know how to tell you this, but I think your father might be involved with the Equalists." Korra tried to keep her voice calm and level as well, but any air of calm in the room was quickly sucked out. Asami looked at Korra incredulously.
"What?! I don't believe this." She stated firmly. Before anyone could stop her, she was up the stairs to find her dad. So much for keeping them busy.
"Asami!" Sikenna called after her as the three followed up the stairs behind her.
"You spied on Hiroshi?! What's your problem?!" Mako snapped at Korra before chasing after Asami. Sikenna followed close behind him.
"Are you seriously agreeing with her?" Mako asked Sikenna through his teeth when they reached the top of the stairs.
"I was just asked to keep you guys busy while they questioned him. But for the record, I think we should check out every instinct the Avatar has. Do you not trust Korra?" She asked him back. Mako and Korra were friends, he should know she wouldn't do anything out of malice. Sikenna had just started to form a friendship with her and she knew that.
"Not with this!" He shot back at her. All she could do before reaching the doors to Hiroshi Sato's office was roll her eyes. Asami burst into the room.
"My father is Innocent!"
The three teenagers sped up their pace to get into the office behind her. By the time they got into the room Asami was already standing next to her dad to defend him.
"Just because we're not benders, doesn't mean we support those awful Equalists." She all but spat at Tenzin and Chief Beifong.
"Equalists? Is that what this is about? I can assure you I have nothing to do with those radicals." Hiroshi answered the group confidently. Mako turned to Korra, clearly angry with her for having the audacity to question a shady conversation she overheard about something as serious as the Equalists.
"Yeah, you don't know what you're talking about, Korra." He seethed at her. Spirits, Sikenna had never wanted to mock somebody so bad before. He sounded like such a child. Korra rounded on Hiroshi like she didn't even hear Mako, pointing an accusing finger at the older gentleman still sitting at his desk.
"I overheard you on the phone. You said the Cabbage Corp investigation bought you time, and you're getting ready to strike. Explain that!" she shouted, as if it were her check mate. Instead, he laughed, looking over to Tenzin and the Chief as he spoke.
"This is all just a misunderstanding, resulting from the young Avatar's overactive imagination. My number one competitor was knocked out of the game. It's providing me an opportunity to strike the market with a new line of Satomobiles. It's just business. Nothing nefarious." The chief and Tenzin shared a glance and it was then that Sikenna knew that if Hiroshi was involved, he would be getting away with it.
"In order to put all suspicions to rest, might we have a look into your factories and warehouses?" Tenzin asked him tentatively.
Asami sighed loudly, putting her hands on her hips as if she was about to tell Tenzin where he could put his search. Hiroshi put his hand up to stop her, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
"If you feel it's necessary, you're welcome to search all of Future Industries."
So they did. They searched the factory high and low, even Naga joined in to smell boxes. Sikenna stood by the factory doors with Asami, Mako, and Hiroshi as they tore the factory apart.
"Why would Korra do this? I thought we were starting to become friends!" Asami asked nobody in particular with her arms crossed over her chest. She had a lot of thoughts and opinions about what Korra was doing and she wasn't shy about it, by any means. Sikenna would be the same way if Kona was in Hiroshi's shoes, however, and she reminded herself of that every time she could feel herself about to snap at the tall beauty. From afar Sikenna watched Korra walk up to Tenzin and Chief Beifong, looking utterly defeated. Asami scoffed from beside Sikenna.
"Good. They're done." She said coldly, walking past Sikenna quickly towards the group accusing her father. Mako followed right behind her, but Sikenna stayed leaning against the side of the factory door. There was no point in following them, she knew what Asami was going to say.
"Okay, you did your search. Now you can all leave." she snapped at them. Yup, there it was.
Mako called Korra over to the side, back closer to Sikenna, to have a private conversation away from Asami. Sikenna didn't mean to eavesdrop, but they had basically come right back to where she was standing to argue about whether or not Korra was jealous of Asami, and that's why she was doing this. The conversation got pretty heated quickly, and Sikenna hissed through her teeth at what Mako told Korra.
"If you don't drop this, consider our friendship over."
Really? Over a girl he's been dating for five minutes? Sikenna made a mental note that Mako was incapable of thinking with the right head. At least now she knew he looked at friendships as something disposable.
"I'm sorry. Hiroshi is not the man you think he is." Korra shot back at him, her voice strong and convincing. Korra turned on her heel and stomped back over to Sikenna after Mako walked away from her. Sikenna couldn't help but smirk a little, you could almost see the steam coming out of Korra's ears she was so angry, and she was cute this angry.
"Can you believe that jerk?!" Korra asked Sikenna in disbelief when she reached her.
"Well he's a dude, so… kind of." Sikenna answered her, with no change in her lean against the door, her voice holding no emotion, let alone surprise. Korra wasn't listening, she was staring at Mako draping a protective arm around Asami's shoulder's across the factory.
"Was he always like this?!" She asked Sikenna, not taking her eyes off Mako and Asami. Sikenna shrugged.
"Kind of. He was always loyal, but I didn't think he was stupidly loyal." Korra didn't move, she didn't look away, Sikenna didn't even know if she was listening. She raised an eyebrow at Korra and stood in her peripheral vision, where she knew Korra could still see her.
"Are you jealous of them?" She asked, slightly amused. Korra whipped her head over to face Sikenna.
"What?! No!" Korra said defensively, looking back to Mako and Asami. Her face fell slightly as she said so.
"I mean… maybe a little bit. But that's not why I'm doing this!"
Sikenna chuckled and put her hand on Korra's shoulders.
"I know you wouldn't, Korra. Come on. Let's go get some mad noodles." She said, tugging on Korra's elbow towards the exit of the factory. Korra sighed deep, but followed, walking to Naga with Sikenna.
"What even are mad noodles?" Korra asked as she walked.
"Noodles you get what your mad? Do you not speak fluent Bolin yet? He's always getting mood noodles." The fire bender laughed out lightly, trying to bring something close to a smile on Korra's face.
Sikenna cooed quietly to Naga as Korra pet her, trying to calm herself down. Tenzin and Chief Beifong were to the side discussing any other possible leads and tactics, Mako was still inside with Asami and Hiroshi and honestly, Sikenna didn't expect to see him for a few days. At least, not if she had planned to hang out with Korra.
Sikenna turned her head towards Korra when she saw her suddenly look down at her hand if she were burnt. She brought her hand back around with a little piece of paper inside. Quickly, Korra unraveled it and her eyes scanned the paper.
"What? What's that?" Sikenna asked her, excited that secret notes were being passed around a shady parking lot. Korra looked up at Sikenna, eyes wide, then called to Tenzin and Chief Beifong.
"I think you guys should hear this."
Sikenna looked over her shoulder to see Tenzin and the Chief walking over to them, Korra read the note out loud.
""If you want to find the truth, meet me under the north end of the Silk Road Bridge at midnight." Sikenna's eyes widened as they met Korra's matching blue ones.
"So there is something?!" She whispered. Korra smiled finally, realization that she was right settling into her. She was going to get the truth. And Mako would not hate her, and everything would be okay again!
"I should get you home before I go, I don't need you to be around if it's an ambush." Korra said to Sikenna. Sikenna frowned, wanting to go to make sure Korra didn't get caught up in an ambush as well. Korra chuckled at her expression.
"Don't worry, I'll bring Tenzin and Beifong. They'll keep me safe. As if I need it, right? I am the Avatar." Korra said cockily, giving her friend a wide, toothy grin. Sikenna rolled her eyes at her cockiness, but smiled.
"Fine. Kona is probably flipping out anyway."

The next day, Sikenna was exhausted. She stayed up half the night pacing her room. Half in concern for Korra and what would happen, half to avoid any lingering nightmares about the arena attack. She didn't sleep well as a result of them even when sleep did finally win. Meaning she was way too tired and impatient to deal with all of her friends sitting around Asami's living room talking bad about Korra for following her gut. She didn't know what Korra found out last night after she was dropped off, but hopefully it was something that would shut them all up. Any one of them would have done the same thing Korra did if they heard what she had.
"I'm just saying, it doesn't even make sense that she thinks your dad has an issue with benders. I mean, he sponsored us in the pro bending tournament!" Bolin said enthusiastically, his arms swirling around as he spoke in elaborate gestures. He had fallen right in line with the smack talk. Sikenna rolled her eyes at the group.
"Thank you! That's what I said!" Mako shouted in agreement.
"And, no offense Asami, but you and your dad have never been an oppressed non bender. So why would he understand their cause?" Kona added to the conversation. Sikenna scoffed and shook her head in disbelief. He had a solid point, and the best argument any of them had all day, but Kona should have known better.
"None taken, Kona. That's the exact argument my dad made last night." Asami nodded confidently.
"What do you think, Kenna?" Bolin asked innocently, honestly wondering what she was thinking about all of this.
"I think-" She started, about to snap at them all, but stopped herself. She thought for a minute, and sat up in her seat.
"I think, that our dad used to be a really good dad." She started. Kona looked at her shocked before she licked her lips and continued, ignoring his eyes.
"He was really fun, and made us laugh. He taught Kona and I everything we knew about fire bending until we were old enough for our own master. You too, Mako, you used to train with us out next to the garden." Sikenna thought for a second, looking at her friend's confused faces. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath.
"He was patient, and kind. He played with us, tucked us into bed at night. Protected us, supported us… spirits, one time he even told my mom he was scolding me for setting this creeps robes on fire, and he gave me tips about how to be sneakier about it instead. He used to be so involved, he loved being a husband and father. Then, one day… he stopped." Sikenna put her hands up at her sides and snapped her fingers.
"Just stopped. He totally punched out the second our mom died. It was like he couldn't even look at Kona and I." Sikenna caught Kona narrowing her eyes at him for talking about this. Kona felt the loss of their father's love a little differently than she did, he hated anyone knowing this much about their relationship with their dad. She didn't care, though. She had a point she needed to make, and they needed to hear it.
"No one thought he would have done that. Even his own mother that he abandoned us with didn't think he would act that way. She always thought he would come around, but nah. Here we are, 12 years later, and he barely knows us. I don't even think he knows we're in Republic City, I don't even know if he knows what I look like." Sikenna stopped and put her hands out in front of her, her eyes closed. She had almost let he emotions take over there for a second.
"My point is," she said through her teeth. She took a deep breath and forced herself to loosen her jaw before opening her eyes, looking back at her friends.
"My point is, people change. People do things you never thought they would do. Sometimes, those things are bad, and hurt other people, no matter how they justify it to themselves." She looked directly at Asami now.
"Parents included."
The silence stayed in the air. Kona coughed uncomfortably after a moment, he had always hated awkward silences. Sikenna leaned back in her chair, flipping the radio on next to her. A happy tune played out and she sighed, happy to break the tension she had caused. She hoped they understood what she was saying, though. Mako cleared his throat and grabbed a magazine to flip through as Kona and Bolin started tossing pieces of fruit at each other across the table, catching the fruit in their mouths.
*SLAM*
The door flew open. Bolin jumped and put his hands up like he was about to be arrested. What had he even done lately to warrant that response? Kona choked on a piece of fruit for a second at the sudden noise, but he recovered quickly.
Sikenna looked over to the door to see Korra marching in, full SWAT gear hung over her body, the metal benders flanking hr, Chief Beifong and Tenzin. Asami groaned loudly.
"What are you doing here?!" She yelled at them from her seat. Chief Beifong spoke without missing a beat, all business and no play.
"We have a reason to believe that there's a factory hidden below the mansion."
Asami scoffed and narrowed her eyes at them.
"I think I would've noticed if there were a factory underneath my house. The lies you people come up with just to persecute my father."
Sikenna stayed in her seat, her face impassive, her head resting back against the chair lazily as she watched. The slamming of the door had made her jump, but she settled once she saw who it was, not the least bit surprised by what she saw or heard. She offered Korra a reassuring smile with a nod as Tenzin stepped forward to ask Asami a question.
"Where is your father?"
"In his workshop, behind the house." Asami stood and started walking towards the doors, Mako, Kona and Bolin following behind her. Sikenna stayed in her seat, eyeing each of her friends as they walked passed. Bolin took a step back to look at her and furrowed his brows.
"...you didn't know about this, did you?" He questioned, gesturing at her unfazed demeanor. Sikenna sighed and pushed herself out of her seat, shaking her head.
"No, I didn't. But I can't say I'm really surprised, either. Come on." She said as she grabbed his wrist, pulling him along to catch up to the group.
•¥•
"Dad? Hello?" Asami called once they had gotten to Hiroshi's workshop. Sikenna looked around at her surroundings. There was no commotion, no sound but the approaching group, just a void of nothing but an empty building.
"Chief, the estate's been secured. No one has left the workshop since we arrived." Sikenna heard one of Beifong's officers say to her.
"Perhaps we just couldn't see him leaving…" Beifong thought out loud. Sikenna watched as Beifong walked to the middle of the room and take a deep breath. She slammed her foot down on the floor for a moment as everyone around her waited. Sikenna cocked an eyebrow at her, confused as to what she was doing.
"There's a tunnel beneath the workshop running deep into the mountainside." Beifong said finally. Sikenna's jaw dropped and she looked over at Bolin who's expression matched hers. She pointed at him, then down to his foot, and mouthed to him.
"Can you do that?"
Bolin looked at her and his face contorted into annoyance when he realized that it was an Earthbender thing, and he could not, in fact, do that.
"No!" He mouthed back to her and pouted as Asami spoke.
"What? There's no tunnel!" Her voice seemed smaller, like she was trying to convince herself more than Beifong. Chief didn't even think about it, she just dropped down low into stance and metal bended the floor, revealing the entrance to the tunnel.
Bolin leaned forward until he was close to Asami.
"Do you think your dad knows about this tunnel?" Sikenna slapped her hand to her mouth to stop herself from laughing. Even when he didn't try, Bolin had a direct line to Sikenna's funny bone.
"I- I don't understand. There must be an explanation." Asami said sadly, and Sikenna felt guilty for almost laughing. This must be really painful for her to see. Korra walked over to the group.
"Maybe you don't know everything about your father. I'm sorry." She said, then turned away to receive Beifong's orders. Asami looked over at Sikenna after hearing Korra, her eyes rimmed with tears. Sikenna smiled sympathetically at her and wrapped her arms around herself.
The group of teens turned to follow the police down the tunnel, but Beifong put a hand up to stop them.
"Uh-uh, you five stay up here." She turned to one of her officers and pointed to the protesting group of teens.
"Officer Song, keep an eye on them." The officer saluted and stepped over to them. Sikenna rolled her eyes at needing to be babysat.
"This is bullshit." Sikenna seethed.
"I know! I want to see the secret tunnel!" Kona pouted loudly next to her.
"I can't believe this is happening. Why is this happening? What does this mean?" Asami asked, keeping her eyes on the ground.
"Hey, it's okay. We still don't know what it's for, right?" Mako comforted Asami sweetly. It was a solid attempt, but they all had an idea of what they would find down there, even Asami. A few minutes of thick, impatient silence passed before they heard the loud slam of metal.
"What was that?" Bolin asked suspiciously.
"fuuuuuu-" Kona started, realizing something went wrong.
"We need to get down there and see what's going on." Mako said immediately. Officer Song's strict voice from behind them made Sikenna jump.
"Absolutely not. You're staying put until the chief comes back." he said to the teenagers sternly. Sikenna caught Bolin and Mako make eye contact, and she raised an eyebrow at them. What were they up to?
"All right, we'll stay put. But could we wait outside or something? It's so dusty in this workshop." Mako said to the officer.
"No! We're waiting right here!" He physically put his foot down as if it was final. Mako shrugged his shoulders.
"Okay, but don't blame me if I start sne-" Sikenna raised both eyebrows now as she watched him obviously fake the start of a sneeze. Kona caught on then, and joined in.
"Oh, no, Mako. Your allergies!" He cried dramatically. Bolin chuckled beside them.
"If I start sn-sn-sneez-" Mako's display of holding back a sneeze was really obviously fake- was this guy actually falling for it?
"What's your problem, bub?!" Officer Song said to Mako, annoyed by his antics.
"I'm about to-" Mako said between fake holding a sneeze one more time. The foolish officer leaned forward to see what Mako was doing when he finally released his "sneeze."
Mako shot a stream of fire out of his nose as Song took a step forward, and Sikenna winced. That still probably doesn't feel too pretty. Burning nose hairs smelll great, she was sure.
The officer flailed back to avoid Mako's flames right as Bolin bended a chunk of earth behind Officer Song's feet. He tripped and Bolin belly flopped on him before he even got to the ground. Sikenna and Kona groaned out loud in sync and winced, Kona covering a laugh with his fist. That was all way too well executed to not be practiced.
"Ouch, dude." Kona hissed, reaching to the back of his own head where Officer Song's head hit the floor. The cop struggled as Bolin, Kona and Mako tied him to a barrel. Sikenna and Asami walked over to admire the boy's handy work. Kona nodded, impressed.
"Sorry pal, we know you were just doing your job." Mako said apologetically as he stood.
"Yeah, just stay put until the chief comes back. That's sounds very familiar doesn't it, why? Because you said it." Bolin cracked at the officer. Sikenna laughed and turned with them towards the entrance of the tunnel.
Mako stopped Asami and told her to stay here. Sikenna rolled her eyes as he explained to her why she should stay behind. Always the savior, that ones been. Sikenna was half way to the elevator when Kona turned towards her and put his hand out.
"You should stay too, Kenna."
Sikenna's eyes went big, absolutely appalled he would even suggest such a thing.
"What?!" She half shouted at him, hands in fists at her side.
"What? You want to leave Asami alone?" Kona argued, raising both eyebrows at her challengingly. Mako put a hand on Sikenna's shoulder, she turned at the weight of it. Her big blue eyes met his orange eyes, concern racing through them.
"Please, Kenna? It would make me feel better about leaving her up here."
Sikenna was about to protest until Mako made his eyes a little bigger. The polar bear puppy eyes. Sikenna felt her stomach flip, but ignored it, groaning as she stomped her foot.
"Fine. You guys go have all the fun in the secret tunnel." She pouted as she turned, walking back over to Asami.
"Bye Kin! We'll bring you back a souvenir!" Bolin waved at her as the boys descended into the tunnel. Sikenna stuck her tongue out at him, and he did it back to her, putting his thumbs in his ears and wiggling the rest of his fingers wildly at her.
Sikenna groaned loudly once they were out of sight.
"This is bullshit. You said yourself you've been in self defense classes since you were little, right? And all three of them know I can handle myself, too. They're just being gross. Slap that systemic sexism on a pastry and call it a dessert." Sikenna rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, annoyed with the entire situation. Asami nodded sadly.
"Yeah." She said absentmindedly. Sikenna frowned and looked over at her. She looked sad, scared, worried about what was happening. Sikenna instantly felt a little guilty for going on a rant about how it wasn't fair the boys would be having all the "fun" when the "fun" was finding out if Asami's dad was a war criminal.
"I'm sorry." Sikenna said quietly to her.
"I've been really insensitive the past few minutes… what can I do to help?" She asked the sad beauty queen as she hugged herself.
"I don't know. I just… what if something happens to them?" Asami looked up at Sikenna, her face practically dripping with concern.
"Nothing will. I promise."
"You don't know that. We don't know anything for sure. You taught me that." Asami answered her. Sikenna blinked at her, thinking about what she just heard.
"I did. Didn't I?" Sikenna asked. Asami nodded slowly, keeping eye contact.
"I'm really sorry if that came off harsh back there- in the living room." Sikenna began.
"I didn't sleep well again and had a short temper... its not excuse, though! It was harder to not get aggravated that everyone was sitting around talking bad about Korra. She was just following her gut, just like any of us would." Asami nodded and smiled gently at Sikenna.
"I know. You're a good friend, Kenna. We all need someone who will stick up for us when we're not around to do it ourselves." Sikenna smiled and nudged Asami lightly with her elbow.
"I would have done it for you, too. Don't worry." She winked at her and Asami laughed a little. A comfortable silence hung around them for a few minutes.
"You know what?" Asami said suddenly. Sikenna turned to look at her.
"You're right. We can defend ourselves just fine! Let's go." Asami started walking towards the tunnel like a woman on a mission.
"Wait- what?" Sikenna said, confused with the quick switch of Asami's mood.
"You heard me." Asami nodded once in certainty as she walked onto the elevator.
"Well, I mean yeah, I did, but- what?" Sikenna said as she followed her onto the elevator platform. Asami pushed the button and turned to her.
"You're a pretty good firebender, right?" She shrugged and continued speaking.
"So even if something happens where I can't defend myself, I have you. So let's go get the boys, help Korra, and find out if my dad's an asshole or not."
Sikenna nodded once, not wanting to argue against her tone. Not that she could, really. The elevator was half way down by the time Asami finished explaining.
Once their feet hit the tunnel floor, the two took off down towards the sound of metal crashing and screams. She skidded to a stop at a hole in the floor, leading to another smaller tunnel. Asami was down the tunnel just a bit, hands on a big metal door at the end of the tunnel.
"This must be the entrance... Where's the boys?" Asami asked, looking back at Sikenna. Sikenna kept her eyes down at the hole in the floor.
"This had to have been Bo, they must have used this way to go in. Come on." she said. She didn't wait for an answer, she just dropped down into the hole Bolin made and lit a small flame to use as a light when she hit the bottom. Asami leaped in shortly after that, making a small grunt as she landed.
"Listen." Sikenna said to Asami quietly. Through the dirt they could hear machines stomping around. Then, they heard it.
"Not so fast, boys." Came a familiar, but twisted voice from above them. Asami's eyes went wide with fear- It was her father's voice. She knew it well, but something about it seemed off. He sounded darker, angrier, it was the scariest tone she had ever heard him use.
"Oh, spirits." Sikenna whispered, and the two girls dashed to the end of Bolin's tunnel.
"Hello, Mr. Sato. Wow! what a really swell, scary factory you have here under your giant mansion." Came Bolin's awkward tone. Sikenna felt her heart hit her throat as she looked up at the entrance of the hole, figuring out her best way up.
"You have a beautiful secret tunnel, sir. Second favorite!" Kona's tone wasn't trying to keep Hiroshi calm, it was mocking. He was antagonizing him, like he always did when his temper got the best of him.
Now is not the time to be a pain in the ass, Kona! she thought to herself.
"shit shit shit." Sikenna muttered after she heard her brother. Why was he like this?
"Asami give me a boost." She whispered. Asami nodded and crouched down with her hands out for Sikenna's foot. Mako said something, but it was drowned out by Sikenna's grunt as she climbed out of Bolin's tunnel. She slid herself out and helped Asami up into the room.
"...No." Asami breathed, eyes wide in shock as she took in the scene before her as Hiroshi spoke to Mako, Bolin and Kona, each hunched over with someone over their shoulders.
"Yes, and the most difficult part was watching my daughter traipse around with a firebending street rat like you!" Came Hiroshi's voice. he Pointed vehemently at Mako with a scowl, his face dripping with anger.
Asami narrowed her eyes and scrambled to her feet, rushing forward. Sikenna reached forward to grab her but Asami was too quick.
"Dad, stop!" Asami yelled out. Hiroshi and the man Sikenna remembered seeing on stage with Amon at the arena turned towards the new voice in the room. Sikenna gulped as she took a step back in the shadows. She had more of an advantage if nobody saw her. She slid down the wall, looking around at what exactly was happening. Massive metal suits that housed people inside stood around, waiting for Hiroshi to tell them what to do.
Kona looked around frantically for his sister when he saw Asami, letting out a deep breath when he made eye contact with her from across the room. She had only stepped out of the shadows enough to see what her point of view of Asami and Hiroshi was from where she stood when Kona's eyes landed on her. Sikenna put a finger to her lips, telling him to keep quiet and not give away her location. Deciding her best bet was to defend the hole so her friend's could escape, Sikenna quietly crept back to the shadows by their exit and waited for her moment to strike. She wouldn't let herself feel weak like she did after the arena attack. Any one of these people could be the person who had taken her down in the stands, and she was going to get them back, and that would fix everything.
"Why?" Asami asked her father sadly.
"Sweetie, I wanted to keep you out of this as long as I could." Sikenna looked around and spotted Korra on the ground, waking up from being knocked out by Hiroshi's weapon. As quiet as she could, Sikenna snuck over towards her.
"But now you know the truth, please, forgive me… These people," Hiroshi pointed at the boys venomously.
"these benders. They took away your mother, the love of my life. They've ruined the world, but with Amon we can fix it and build a perfect world together! We can help people like us, everywhere!"
Sikenna narrowed her eyes as Hiroshi took off his electric glove, handing it to Asami with strong, determined hands.
"...Join me, Asami." Hiroshi said, his voice dark and intimidating. Asami looked at the glove, and hesitated. She wouldn't really do it, would she? Would she turn on everyone? Sikenna covered her mouth to hide her gasp as Asami took the glove from him with shaking dainty hands. The way Asami had spoken on their way down, Sikenna didn't think she would, honestly. Then, with a strong but sad voice, Asami finally spoke.
"I love you, Dad."
Sikenna shielded her eyes from the bright light of the electricity as Asami slammed the glove into her father's chest until he passed out. Amon's henchman ran at her and Sikenna moved to run to her, but Asami took him down within a few seconds with ease, taking him out with his own weapon.
There were only a few moments where they could be amazed before the huge metal tanks turned to them.
"Let's get out of here!" Mako yelled, calling everyone into motion. This was it, this was the moment she was waiting for. Sikenna leaped out of the shadows, firing several powerful blasts of fire at the enormous machines.
"Get them to the tunnel! I'll cover you!" she yelled back at her friends before dodging an electric metal claw being deployed at her. She rolled to her side once she landed, only to look up to see one of the giant suits swinging its large metal arm down towards her. With a grunt Sikenna kicked sideways from the floor, shooting a huge, hot stream of fire into the suit's chest. It stumbled back into another one on impact with the fire, and they both fell.
"KENNA!" Kona shouted to his twin. Sikenna stood up as fast as she could, turned, and ran towards him, letting him push her into the giant hole in the floor. She landed in the tunnel with a thud, Bolin and Kona crashing into her as they landed behind her, the hole closing behind Bolin. Bolin grabbed her arm to catch her from falling as well as steady himself right as something slammed into what used to be the opening of the hole. The whole tunnel shook and some earth fell over their heads. Without thinking much about it, Sikenna reached up and grabbed the side of Bolin's face like a worried mother, checking him over.
"Bolin! Are you okay?! Did you get hurt?!" Bolin grabbed her hands and looked at her.
"I'm fine. But we need to go, okay? Run." It was a demand, not a request. That was the most serious tone Sikenna had ever heard him use, and she knew he was serious. She nodded as he pushed her towards Kona, trying to get her to run towards the others. Kona grabbed his sister's arm and pulled her along the tunnel as fast as he could. Sikenna only ran a couple steps before she looked back to make sure Bolin was still behind her, letting out a breath when she saw he was.
"Kin, Go!" He said, annoyed with her for probably the first time in their friendship. Another loud crash came from above them, making the ceiling of the tunnel shake one more. Bolin shrunk at the sudden commotion and reached forward, deciding Kona wasn't fast enough. With a grunt he grabbed Sikenna's hand tightly and pulled her forward, faster than they were before. Kona was able to keep up with their pace now that he didn't have to pull Sikenna along, and the three of them pulled themselves out of Bolin's tunnel into the shop to the main tunnel where everyone was waiting for them.

Sikenna took a deep breath once she was on the police airship that would take them away from the Sato Estate. She sat next to Kona, her head resting on his shoulder as she stared forward, her face expressionless. She was so tired. How did Korra do this stuff as much as she did? Sikenna quietly made the decision that she and Kona had to train more if they planned on running around with The Avatar.
"You doing okay, Kin?" Kona asked her softly. Sikenna nodded slowly, but kept her mouth shut, not having the energy to even move her lips.
"You sure? Or are you just shaken up realizing you like Bolin?" He whispered to her. Sikenna shot up and looked at Kona through narrowed eyes. Not this again.
"I don't!" She spat. Kona laughed at her and rested his head against the wall.
"Suresure." Kona said sarcastically.
"I don't, Kona! What even- why would you-? What about what just happened gave you that impression?" She asked him defensively. Kona shrugged before looking at her, an amused smirk on his face.
"You grabbed his face." Kona smiled and reached forward, putting one of Sikenna's cheeks in each hand, mocking how she had grabbed Bolin in the tunnel. Sikenna narrowed her eyes at him and swatted his hands away from her face as he laughed.
"I'd grab yours too if I was worried you got hurt!" Sikenna fought back. It was supposed to come out insulting, but it ended up sounding more like an excuse.
"I could have been hurt." Kona pointed out slyly.
"You didn't even check."
Sikenna opened her mouth to argue with him, but closed it quick when she realized he had a point.
"I- shut up, Kona! I do not. You sound like Nero." Kona dropped his jaw in fake offense before laughing wildly at her.
"To be fair, I didn't see it then. I do now."
"You don't see anything. Where are you guys even pulling this from?! Whatever, I'm done talking about this." Sikenna stood from her seat and walked over to Korra, noticing she was smiling sadly at Mako, who was walking away from her and back to Asami. Asami turned as he touched her shoulder, and clung to his shirt nuzzling into his neck. Sikenna frowned as she watched them, that must hurt Korra to watch.
"Hey. You okay?" She asked Korra with a sympathetic smile, just happy to be away from Kona and his stupid jokes. Korra looked over at her and nodded.
"I think so. I mean, I basically just told Mako he should be with Asami and not worry about me, in less words than that. But…" Korra sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
"That's really great, Korra. I'm Really proud of you."
Korra nodded and looked back at her.
"Then why do I feel so bad?" Korra's eyes rimmed with tears, but she bit her lip to stop them from escaping, looking down at her feet. Sikenna smiled sadly at her, knowing the familiar feeling of heart break. It still hadn't left her chest, it all had come rushing back once her adrenaline dropped to normal levels. Sikenna shook any thoughts of Nero from her head to answer Korra, she had to be a friend to her right now, not think about her own problems.
"Doing the right thing hurts sometimes."
Korra looked up at Sikenna, and the firebender smiled brightly at her.
"You're gorgeous, Korra. And intimidatingly powerful. You'll find someone better for you than Mako could ever be." She encouraged the Avatar. Sikenna tried not to think about the time she spitefully told Bolin that he was too good for Korra, but she still wasn't wrong about that.
Korra blushed at the compliment, Sikenna raised an eyebrow playfully at the sight of it.
No, Kenna. Behave.
She thought to herself. Korra cleared her throat and shook her head, shaking the hair from her eyes.
"Thanks, Kenna. I can see why Bolin likes you so much." Sikenna's heart dropped to her stomach, but she smiled at Korra through it.
Oh spirits. Like me how?
A/N: This one was a lot shorter than I thought it would be, but I really didn't want to do a complete, full play by play of an episode we all already know. You know?
Let me know what you think! :)
