He ran, a mob on his tail, until he couldn't run any longer. Suddenly, he was trapped between humans and ghoouls, and they all wanted his head.

"What have I done to anger you?" he demanded, backing up further,

"I never eat more than my fill, and I leave you alone! What exactly is my crime?"

"FREAK!" one townsman hollared, raising his weapon.

"Murderer!"

"Monster!"

Riku snarled at the ratghoul that led the mob.

"YOU! You betrayed me!"

Mortimer chuckled, "Sorry pally but I had to keep you in line."

Leaping over the crowd, Riku gave a death glare to Mortimer and ran off, gunshots following him until he leaped over the fence of his enclosure and retreated into his cave to shed tears of frustration, betrayal, and hurt.

He had always helped the townsfolk with their problems, wether it was delivering a letter, pulling a sleigh out of the icy snow, or killing a vampire that had turned into an infant killer.

So why, when they knew the secret of how to put an end to him, did they express such hatred?

He knew Mortimer had something to do with it. That rat was going to pay dearly for this betrayal.

DEarly.
