I don't own BNHA.
(i was distracted while writing the disclaimer and literally wrote 'i don't know BNHA' before I fixed it lol)
aNyWaYs (question; is tsu's first name tsuyu or asui, cuz I'm not sure tbh?)
Mina and Asui both pressed their faces against the huge glass window, peering through it, observing the exchange below. They couldn't clearly hear, but made their own assumptions from the reactions of the people.
"It looked like Deku was just making excuses for himself," Mina said, "I wonder what All Might was doing there."
"It seems Uraraka's gotten caught up in their fight, too," Asui said, thoughtful.
Uraraka looked up at the window that very moment.
"Oh! Do you think she knew we were here?' Mina asked.
Uraraka waved.
"Yes," Asui replied. Mina waved back. Neither girl was embarrassed at being caught. Uraraka didn't seem particularly worried either.
"I'm pretty sure you can't see what's inside from the outside, though?' Mina questioned.
"We both know Uraraka has a way of knowing things. She notices things we don't," Asui said, but there was not a hint of spite or jealousy. She truly meant that.
"You're right," Mina said, smiling. "She does."
The morning air was chilly and she could see her own breath. Uraraka sighed. She was pretty late. She'd had a nightmare and woken up early again. She'd used the time to train the new technique she was working on, but hadn't realised how much time had passed. She was kind of hoping she could get in before the media got there.
Weren't they camping outside of U.A, though? She sighed again.
A crowd was shuffling around U.A's doors. They had cameras and mics and many other devices.
Deku got caught up first. "How are All Might's classes?'
...
"Will you tell us what the symbol of peace is like as a teacher?' Uraraka flew over the crowd.
...
"What do you think of All Might as a teacher? Is he good?' A brunette woman asked, pointing her mic at lida's face.
"He has made me recognise anew how prestigious a school this is. An educational institute which is the best of the best," lida answered. He looked the cameras in the "eye". "Of course, his character and dignity go without saying, but us students can see his humorous side every day."
lida went on about how unique an opportunity it was. The reporters and paparazzi had never met anyone who'd talked more than them, and somehow, it was enlightening and extremely...tiring.
...
"Can you tell us about- oh aren't you the one who got caught by that sludge villain?!'
"Stop it," Bakugo said, surprisingly calmer than normal.
...
The woman felt a little awkward for some reason around this scruffy looking man. All of the paparazzi did, although none of them identify.
"He's not on duty today," Aizawa answered to 'is All Might here today?'.
"You're disturbing all the classes. Please leave," he waved his hands in "shoo" manner.
"Sir!' Instead of replying, he simply walked away. "Wait! I would like to speak directly with Mr All Might-"
The reporters fired questions and made comments, everyone talking at once. When they realised he was seriously walking away, they got angry. Aizawa didn't particularly care.
"A little time is fine. Ah, just let me see All Might-" the brown-haired woman who'd been asking all the questions tried to follow.
"No, idiot-" someone tried to warn her.
But it was too late even as the reporters pulled her back. There was a shrill beep and metal walls suddenly pulled up. A large metal door slammed in place, where the space was empty before, it was now blocked.
"What-what the...!' The woman screamed, eyes bulging. Her knees went weak and she fell to the floor.
"It's the U.A barrier," her cameraman explained. "That's what we call it."
"That's so lame." the woman commented.
"If someone tried to get in without a student ID or a pass to enter, the security system kicks in. Apparently, there are sensors all over the school."
"Are you serious." the woman huffed in exasperation. "We've been here for two days and they still won't say anything!'
...
The news that All Might had become a teacher at U.A had surprised the whole nation, and the media had caused a commotion about it for days. Uraraka leaned back in her seat in annoyance. She didn't want to be caught up in the crowd panic that would inevitably happen, but they needed her quirk.
Damnit.
"Good work on yesterday's combat." Aizawa's voiced echoed in the classroom and the hallway outside it, "I got the video and results. Bakugo, you're talented, so don't act like a kid."
Bakugo sneered and turned his eyes to the wall.
"I know."
"And Midoriya." Midoriya cringed violently, "You settled by breaking your arm again, huh? You can't keep saying you can't help it because you can't control your quirk. I dislike saying the same thing over and over. Once you fix that issue, you'll be able to do a lot."
Midoriya's ashamed expression turned hopeful and happy at hearing the praise.
"Yes, sir!'
"Good. Now let's get down to homeroom business. Deciding a class rep."
It's actually a normal school activity, the class thought collectively, kind of shocked.
Kirishima put both hands up. "Pick me! Lemme do it!'
"Me too," "I want to, as well." "The job was made for moi,"
The class chimed in. Uraraka wondered how Jirou could be so shy about singing, but not about being rep.
She herself knew who would get the rep, and how it would go so she didn't bother trying to be rep this time around.
"Silence, please!' lida yelled, standing up.
was this guy born with a rod up his ass?
Uraraka chuckled to herself. Still, lida was too lovable to judge.
"It is a job with a serious responsibility of leading people. It is not a job for anyone who "just wants to do it". It's a calling for you from people when they need you, and it requires the trust of those around you. Therefore, we must hold an election in order to choose from."
"Your hand's raised the highest," Shinsou pointed out, nonchalantly. He was also one of the people who didn't ask to be class rep.
Uraraka remembered Koda's quiet, shy "me, too" with a pang. Her mouth went dry at the thought.
"We haven't known each other for that long," Asui pointed out, "so how can we have trust or anything?'
"Hey, can I call you Tsuyu?' Uraraka asked randomly while everyone else was talking about the election. "You can call me Ochako." She'd been meaning to ask that yesterday, but since she'd left early she'd forgotten.
"Sure, Ochako. Call me Tsu." Tsu smiled lightly.
"Don't you think that's precisely why whoever gets most people's trust is the most suitable person for this position?' lida reasoned, waving his hands to "get his point across."
"What do you think, Mr Aizawa?' lida asked for support from their teacher.
Aizawa was literally standing in his yellow sleeping bag, getting ready to casually fall sleep in class, as if that were normal.
I swear this class has not a single sane person.
Uraraka thought, entertained.
"I don't care, as long as you decide before homeroom is over." Aizawa shrugged. Then he...fell.
Uraraka leaned her chair back, rolling her eyes.
"Thank you very much."
She saw Deku watching with anticipation.
She saw Momo proceed with writing all the names on the board. Everyone made a tally mark next to the name they were voting for. Her eyes scanned the board, widening when she one big difference from the voted from before.
Zero vote for lida, three for Deku, two for Momo, four for herself (what the hell. why?), one for Mineta, one for Bakugo, one for Mina, zero for Kirishima, one for Kaminari, zero for Jirou, zero for Toru, zero for Shinsou, one for Sato, zero for Shoji, zero for Tsu, zero for Todoroki, one for Aoyama, zero for Ojiro, zero for Tokoyami.
Who voted for her-
"I voted for you," Tsu croaked. "you'd make a great leader."
Uraraka panicked. She can't make changes!
"I-I can't accept this. No, Momo's supposed to have more votes than me. Why?'
Tsu tilted her head, narrowing her eyes. "Because it's my opinion. Is everything alright?'
"No, no, no. I can't be rep." Uraraka cried, hysterically.
"Tch." Bakugo leered. "I thought you were different. They chose you, take it."
"No, no, you don't-you don't understand," Uraraka hiccuped, hyperventilating. She didn't mean to do this in front of her classmates, but she was so, so scared.
She didn't know how this had even happened.
"Take a deep breath," Tsu gently patted her back. "I'm sorry. I had no idea you hated the idea of it."
"I-I'm sorry. I think Momo is a better choice than me." Uraraka said, calming her thudding heart. SHE WAS SUCH A MESS.
"I'm sorry for making a scene." Uraraka lowered her eyes, apologising softly.
"Are you okay?' Momo inquired gingerly.
Uraraka nodded.
"I don't think it would be a good idea. The class trusts you more." lida said, cautiously. He didn't want to cause another mini panic attack, but that was his opinion.
She bit her lip. She can't. Would the world make itself right again? But, was there any way to prove Momo was better, the way Deku did for lida?
"Okay. We've got our class rep, Midoriya, and vice rep, Uraraka." Aizawa's drowsy voice announced, over her thoughts. Oh god.
She'd have to think of a situation on the fly.
"R-r-really? Really?' Deku asked, his body-and voice, and everything else-shaking like a leaf in the wind.
Everybody watched Bakugo throw a fuss.
"I voted for you, too. I didn't realise it bothered you so much." Shinsou said from behind her. She turned to him.
Oh. No wonder things are different.
She realised. Tsu voted for her, and maybe two of the girls. She was particularly close to Ashido and Toru, plus, she was pretty sure Kirishima voted for Ashido, and Ashido only had one vote.
Tsu voted for her in the original timeline-she had one, since she voted for Deku-and now Shinsou and two others did as well. Maybe it was Kaminari since she'd agreed to that date.
"It's kind of weird that even though you got the most votes-so four, or three, people thoughts you were capable-you don't even want to." Kirishima commented.
"Yeah, I voted for Ocha, but I didn't take into consideration she might not want to," Ashido-Mina added.
"None of us did. Even Midoriya looks uncomfortable," Sero put his own thought in.
"Like, I would love if three or four people voted for me," Mina said, "plus, I had no idea Ocha was so shy. She doesn't really act like the type. Like, with Midori, you can just tell he's shy, but Ocha's really confident most of the time."
"Well, everyone has their own...quirks." Toru giggled.
"That was terrible." Shinsou and Uraraka said, stoically at the same time.
They could only imagine Toru pouting.
"N-not everyone," Deku said, appearing out of nowhere.
Everyone started talking at once. Uraraka noticed that everyone was distracted, and swiftly slipped out of the classroom.
Bakugo saw her, but she gave him the 'zip it' gesture and he 'tch'ed and turned away-which, in Baku language, meant "sure".
She hadn't planned for it to happen. She put her hands on her ears, trying to block out the voice.
But the problem was it was her voice. It was Shigaraki's, and All Might's, and Bakugo's.
And Deku's.
But not the ones who were here. The ones who she failing. The one who she was failing to, and it was in her head. She couldn't block it out.
Why did this happen?
She knew that she had to try and not change things, but also be stronger, and find a way to stop Shigaraki, but it was so confusing.
Things had to change, but she didn't want them to. What do you do if your own mind can't decide which is worse?
