Chapter 21:
Stand Together!
Suddenly, a howling roar echoed as the herd came to a stop. They remained silent as Uhuru looks out. All was quiet for a few moments until suddenly appearing from behind the bend came the Allorhinus as he soon spotted them and growled. The Allorhinus growled as he stalked and approached them. Then he sniffed and hissed.
" Sharp-teeth!" yelled a Torobison, as the herd grew nervous.
The Allorhinus took a few more steps as he then stood in place.
" They led that monster right to us! This way!" said Ubinasfi as he starts climbing the rocks.
In sheer panic, a Torobison quickly turns to head to the rock pile.
" NO! Don't move! If we scatter, he'll pick us off! Stand Together!" yelled Uhuru stopping the Torobison.
Ubinasfi stood on a rock and looked back but he continues climbing them up. The Allorhinus roars out as the herd fearfully stood as Uhuru stood bravely. The Allorhinus stomped his burned right foot and roars as he charges. The herd grew even more nervous as several Struthiogazella, a Tenontohippus stallion, and an Einioscruffa fearfully stepped back. The Allorhinus charges closer as the herd panicked as he growled out loudly.
Uhuru then stepped forward and whinnies out as the Allorhinus slows down and they confront each other as Uhuru continues whinnying as the Allorhinus roars. Then the Allorhinus growls as he lunges but was then suddenly stopped with a baffled look.
Uhuru whinnies out as Mfalme joins him as well as Trya, Bulldozer, One-ton, and Mabawa. Then suddenly, a Tenontohippus stallion joins them as soon the whole herd stood shoulder to shoulder and whinnied and bellowed out at the Allorhinus. The Allorhinus was bewildered as he was unsure what to make of this and took a step back roaring at them. Uhuru continues whinnying out as the herd started as the Allorhinus roars backing away from them as they continued.
Soon, the Allorhinus was backed into the corner as Uhuru, Mflame, Trya, Bulldozer, One-ton, and Mabawa bellowed and whinnied out as the herd moves around them. The herd walks off as the Allorhinus was left irritated as they begin to leave. But then he caught movement from the corner of his eye and looks over to the rock pile of the waterfall and saw Ubinasfi struggling up a ledge. The Allorhinus snorted with full interest on him and then charges preferring an easier target.
Mfalme was the first to see the Allorhinus as he rushed off, knowing what he's after, she quickly runs off after him as Uhuru turns to her as she runs off.
" Go! We'll watch over them," said Trya.
Uhuru nodded at his friends and ran after Mfalme and the Allorhinus.
The Allorhinus soon nears the rock pile as Mfalme was right behind him.
" UBINASFI!" yelled Mfalme.
Ubinasfi pulls himself up and looks back as he saw the Allorhinus growling as he was climbing right behind him. Ubinasfi quickly hurries up the rocks as he quickly jumps to a nearby ledge but slips and fell but Ubinasfi quickly got up as the Allorhinus climbs up gaining on him as Mfalme was behind the Allorhinus. Ubinasfi soon got to the log bridge near the top of the waterfall and looked back as the Allorhinus nears him.
Ubinasfi continues walking across the log bridge while watching the Allorhinus until he stumbles and looks down to see a 50-foot drop to the water below him as pieces of wood fell. Shock by this, Ubinasfi looks ahead and saw the path that leads to the top of the waterfall with a gap between them.
" No. No. No," said Ubinasfi as he looks back.
Ubinasfi looks back to see the Allorhinus snarling as he got closer. Ubinasfi then glared ready to fight. The Allorhinus roars out loudly with his jaws wide open as he nears Ubinasfi. But Ubinasfi quickly twirls and swung his tail at the Allorhinus face causing him to stumble. Below them, Uhuru and Mfalme quickly climbed up the rocks. The Allorhinus shook his head as Ubinasfi quickly readies to strike again. But this time, the Allorhinus tossed Ubinasfi off his feet and then again almost throwing him off the log bridge. Ubinasfi tries to regain his footing but the enormous jaws of the Allorhinus clamp down on his back and shakes him.
Not far behind, Mfalme quickly approached them.
The Allorhinus then used his mass to twirl and throws Ubinasfi as he hits the ground hard and slides until he stops at a boulder. The Allorhinus roars out as his shadow looms over Ubinasfi and Ubinasfi turns to him as the Allorhinus nears him with a hungry look. Then Mfalme appeared over Ubinasfi and bit the Allorhinus on the snout causing the carnivore to roar in pain.
" Mfalme?" said Ubinasfi as he slowly loses consciousness.
The Allorhinus retaliated by throwing Mfalme a small distance in the dirt. Just as the Allorhinus was about to finish off Ubinasfi, Mfalme once again bit him on the nose causing the predator to step back away from the fallen Ubinasfi. As Mfalme holds on to his snout for dear life, the Allorhinus releases his snout from her jaws and swung his head against Mfalme as she was thrown against a boulder. Then he placed his foot on her as he growled. Suddenly, Uhuru quickly ran, turns, and swung his tail at the Allorhinus face knocking him aside as Uhuru got over Mfalme and whinnied at the Allorhinus. But the Allorhinus turns and swung his tail at Uhuru, knocking him aside as he hits the log bridge hard.
Uhuru shook his head and weakly looks at the Allorhinus as he slowly approached him. Then Uhuru turns his attention to Mfalme and seeing her struggling to get up brought back one memory from his past.
…
~Flashback~
Uhuru remembers seeing his adopted mother fighting the Allorhinus that day until the Allorhinus jumped on her back and she shook the predator off before he could do some damage to her.
Later that night, Uhuru watched as she died in front of him in the rain. Leaving little Uhuru alone in the rain.
Uhuru then begins to hear Edwards voice in his head.
" Kid I'm gonna give you advice. Do not die in vain. If you die. Die for someone you care about the most just like your mother did. She died for you. But you'll have someone to live for," said Edward.
~End Of Flashback~
After hearing that, Uhuru opened his eyes and realized he's come way too far to die for he cares about his friends and Mfalme the most. Just like that, Uhuru got up and growls as he looks at the Allorhinus.
" No! My mother started this fight. I'M GONNA FINISH IT!" yelled Uhuru as he charged towards the Allorhinus and then grabs him by the neck.
Uhuru then uses his strength and pulls the Allorhinus closer to the edge of the log bridge. But the Allorhinus released his neck as Uhuru almost went over and the Allorhinus growled as Uhuru backed away. But suddenly, Uhuru noticed the edge of the log bridge cracking under the Allorhinus' feet as it broke apart and the Allorhinus scrambles trying to get a footing as Uhuru tries to move away. But the Allorhinus clamps his jaws on Uhuru's back pulling him off his feet as Uhuru grabs a hold of the edge of the log bridge as the Allorhinus falls down and lets out one final screech in terror as he fell and a massive splash was heard.
Uhuru quickly pulls himself over the edge of the log bridge and got up as Mfalme joins him. They looked down as the fog clears and saw the Allorhinus' body on the surface of the water.
" Ubinasfi," said Mfalme.
Uhuru turns to Mfalme as she limped over to Ubinasfi's body and gently lifts his head. Then Mfalme gently placed him down for he is now dead. Mfalme soon tears up for her friend's death as Uhuru went up to her. Uhuru joins next to her and Mfalme rested her head under his chest as they sadly remained silent.
Author's Note: Well, would you look at that? Uhuru has finally defeated the Allorhinus and avenged his adopted mother. But alas, Ubinasfi is gone and it's sad to see Mfalme tearing up for his death. But I know something that might get her mind off this in the next chapter.
In fact, it's the last and final chapter and I'll get started on that tomorrow and that's a promise.
