I haven't actually played the game myself. I'm using a YouTube playthrough. A boss this early in the game shouldn't be that hard. I think you were just inexperienced. I watched a YouTuber who beat that boss in just three turns. (Probably because he was grinding EXP from beating enemies).

Mario: Now, I suggest you ask your friends back in your world to help you with anger management problems.

Luigi: Gee. You're one to talk, bro. *rolls eyes*

Luigi: I already know, Nataly. Thanks for your friendship.

Me: She didn't even talk about the chapter…

Mario: Give her some slack, Ultimate. She's a close friend.

The mechanic is a staple in all M&L games. So no surprise you found it there.

Hoohooros is an early boss, so it's no surprise. It will get harder, though.

I corrected that mistake. My bad.

So, I'm assuming you saw "Super Mario Sunshine: A Sprite of Light"? Well, she's still young and is developing her hydrokinesis powers. Also, I have a oneshot dedicated to the bros. deceased father called "Father". Check it out if you want to know about Mario's relationship to him.

Chapter 8: King of the Mountain

Hoohoo Mountain

[BGM: Hoohoo Mountain - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]

Mario and his crew had defeated Hoohooros and were now at the midway point of the mountain. They just had to push on a bit more.

"Oh boy…" said Luigi as he swallowed a lump in his throat.

"Man this mountain is huge. How much longer do we have to go?" Daisy complained.

"Don't worry. I can feel the top up ahead. We can do this!" said Mario.

After a few more puzzles involving the use of Aqua's water abilities, riding tornadoes, and battling more enemies such as Rexes (from Super Mario World), Dry Bones (a variation which stood on all fours), and even more Beanies, the group of four had finally reached the summit of Hoohoo Mountain.

The top of this majestic mountain had an octagon-shaped lake. In the center of that lake was an island of Hoohoo Blocks inhabited by a sleeping pterosaur and a huge egg. Feeling accomplished after their tedious climb, the four ate a few beans and syrup that they got from ? blocks to recover some HP and SP. Then they looked out towards the Beanbean Kingdom, which loomed beneath them. Team Mario felt a sense of pride seeing the whole kingdom from up there, almost like they were mighty warriors watching over the land they swear to protect. Which actually might be kinda true considering that Cackletta might basically be the Bowser of this Kingdom, always trying to conquer it. And they are trying to stop her despite this not being their kingdom.

Mario pointed out seeing various landmarks all over the Beanbean Kingdom. They included a vast, but also deadly, desert, an ice fortress, a forest with a chateau beside it, a huge village with a castle in the center of the kingdom, and a rocky beach.

"Wow! This kingdom looks beautiful!" Aqua admired. "I can't wait to explore it!"

"It's certainly accurate to the map, that's for sure," said Daisy.

"Once we break that rock at the bottom of the mountain, we should head to that castle. The royal family might know what to do," said Mario.

The team enjoyed the view for a few more seconds before remembering their mission. So they crossed the bridge onto the huge pile of Hoohoo Blocks, which were gray stones that were round despite their name, and had three holes, making them resemble bowling balls. They proceeded to grab some Hoohoo Blocks to take back. However, they needed to pay mind to the sleeping pterodactyl, Blablanadon, who was yellow with green wings and a red mane.

"That must be that pterodactyl the people in town are worried about. What was his name again?" Luigi thought. "Blablabla- bla… Okay, who came up with that na-? Ah! Ah! AH!"

Luigi's nose was tickled so much by the dust that he had to sneeze.

"ACHOO!"

Everyone flinched in surprise hearing Luigi's sneeze, and it caused Blablanadon to wake up.

"FOOOOOOLS!" the creature screeched.

"Uh oh…" Aqua gulped.

"Luigi, you idiot!" Mario thought angrily.

"What are you taking those for? Those are really rare stones! They're called Hoohoo Blocks!" Blablanadon yelled. "I'll tell you, anyone who tries to drop a Hoohoo Block down the mountain is a thief in my book!"

"Well, I'm sorry, but we need these to make hammers!" Daisy argued.

"Wait. Aren't you that Blabby person everyone in the village was talking about?" Aqua recalled, though she got his name wrong (hard to blame her, though). "Those people down there are worried sick about you! They thought the worst might've happened!"

"The townsfolk are all worried about me? Really? But I didn't mean to make them worry!" Blablanadon cried in regret. "Also, my name is Blablanadon."

"Uh… can we call you by a shorter nickname? No offense, but your name's kinda hard to slip off the tongue," Luigi said, trying to be polite.

"I get that a lot. You can just call me Blabby."

"So Blabby, why are you up here and not helping the villagers down there?" Mario asked.

"See, what happened is this: I saw Prince Peasley and followed him up here…" Blablanadon explained. "And then I saw that this huge egg had appeared! I was shocked! I was speechless! Which is rare!"

Blablanadon was referring to the oversized egg he was sleeping on top of before Luigi abruptly awakened him. The egg was indeed enormous. It was around the size of a boulder. It's pale brown color also helped, as if the Hoohoo Blocks surrounding it weren't darker shades of brown and grey, it would easily blend in as the biggest of the bunch.

Mario and his friends began skepticizing what could possibly hatch from an egg of such abnormal proportions. Starting with our titular plumber, he imagined that since Fawful carried the kingdom's Prince Peasley up, could said prince perhaps have been trapped inside the egg? If that were the definite answer, he'd try to break it. But if that WEREN'T the case, he'd essentially be killing life before it's even born, which he wouldn't DARE to risk! Mario shivered just thinking about it.

Luigi, having been exposed to horrorous things before, imagined that such a large egg would mean that the lifeform inside it is some sort of gross, deformed, mutated, eldritch monster. His imagery was so terrifying, that he couldn't bear to try and picture it himself. The green guy's face was frozen still with eyes wide and pupils dilated.

Aqua on the other hand, was thinking more on the positive possibilities. Maybe the egg housed a big, fat, and ABSURDLY ADORABLE Yoshi who she could cuddle with, play with, and feed all day long. Of course, this was unlikely given that the egg in question didn't really look like a Yoshi Egg, but a girl can dream. Aqua's cheeks flushed in a rosy color and she imagined herself hugging such a cute creature.

Daisy was thinking more hardcore and imagined a large and ferocious dragon hatching from the egg, like the ones she's seen in movies and fairytales. One with green reptilious skin not too much unlike that of Bowser's, sharp ferocious fangs, and a snout that breathes fire.

"That's… quite an egg," Mario commented, trying to hide his fear.

"That's cool and all, but I still think you're being kind of rude by leaving your dear villagers alone just because of something rare," Daisy stated.

"Again, I am really sorry. So anyway, I've just been here keeping this poor egg warm ever since! Yup, that's the deal." Blablanadon said. "I think something will hatch out of it pretty soon! That's what happens with eggs!"

"You think, Captain Obvious?" Mario noted with sarcasm.

"That's what I was afraid of!" Luigi thought worriedly.

[BGM end]

Right on cue, the egg was starting to hatch right below the pterosaur's feet. Much to the excitement of some, and the fear of others.

"Oh! It's here! It's time! Oh, wow! It's about to hatch! I can't take the suspense!" Blablandon flew off the egg and grinned with a smile almost as creepy as Fawful's as he anticipated the event.

"WOOHOO!" Aqua shouted with glee, almost imitating Mario's voice. "BIG CUTE YOSHI, HERE I COME!"

Aqua attempted to run towards the egg at supersonic speeds, only for Mario to grab her dress to hold her back.

"AQUA, NO!"

[BGM: Danger! - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]

The egg cracked open, and what came out of it made Aqua stop running and hide behind Luigi, who was shivering in fear himself. Emerging from the egg was a green dragon with a long snout, golden eyebrows, facial hair at the bottom of his snout, and sharp teeth. He was Dragohoho!

"Goo-gwaaaa!" the dragon bellowed, causing a Hoohoo Block to fall down the waterfall and into the chimney of the Hammerhead Bros. house.

"Ack! Well, THAT'S a shock! Talk about one crazy egg!" Blablanadon yapped.

Dragohoho faced Blablanadon and shot a Hoohoo Block out his mouth at him, sending the pterosaur flying. And no, not with his wings!

"Whaaaaaaaat?!"

"Haha! I KNEW it was gonna be a dragon!" said Daisy. Then she turned to Mario. "Pay up, Red Luigi. My prediction was right! I expect those cupcakes by… a day after whenever all this is over."

"We didn't bet! And this is not a good time!" dismissed Mario.

Daisy realized she forgot to put in the bets and hung her head down. "Darn."

She soon got over it and engaged with the others. Dragohoho flew out of his egg with his tiny wings (despite his body's size by comparison) and roared at the quartet again before starting the fight.

[BGM end]

"LET'S A GO!"

[BGM: Come on, Again! - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]

Mario and Luigi started off by using their Bounce Bros attack on Dragohoho, followed by Daisy and Aqua's Splash Sis attack. But this made the dragon mad, and he fired flaming Hoohoo Blocks out of his mouth. The heroes were able to indicate who he was aiming at by his mouth signals. If Dragohoho was facing up, he was aiming at the bros. If he was facing down, he was aiming at the princesses. Daisy did get hit once, which made her mad.

Daisy cracked her knuckles. "Okay! Now you're gonna get it! Here comes Daisy!"

Daisy punched Dragohoho in the stomach, making him puke out a large Hoohoo Stone. The heroes were confused on what the purpose of this was, until he jumped on the stone. Dragohoho fired more blocks that were much closer now, which gave the heroes a harder time to dodge. Worse, one of the blocks actually hit Mario on the head.

"Grr! Luigi, we need to up our game! You thinking what I'm thinking?" signaled Mario.

"Aw yeah! It's-a time to…" Luigi gave a thumbs up.

"ADVANCE!" both said simultaneously.

Mario and Luigi performed a new, yet familiar Bros Attack. They stacked onto each other again, but instead of bouncing around and then jumping onto the stone, they instead flipped upside down and sprinted each other into the air, inflicting even more damage than the Bounce Bros and crushing the stone into mere pebbles. Daisy and Aqua certainly weren't expecting that as judged by their gaping mouths.

"Woah…" said Aqua, who was speechless.

"How did you…?" asked Daisy.

"I… don't know. It was just instinct," replied Mario.

"It must've been from mastering Bounce Bros," assumed Luigi. "I'll call it Advanced Bounce Bros!"

"Hmm…" Daisy turned her head to Aqua and smirked. "Say sis, why don't we try that out as well?"

Aqua's eyes beamed from the idea and she gave her sister a wink.

"You got it! Let's…" she began.

"ADVANCE!"

Just as with Splash Sis, Aqua summoned a water rope and attached it to Daisy. This time, she didn't let go. Instead, they spun around so fast that they flew up into the air like a helicopter. They moved forward, slammed onto the ground twice to gain some power, and then slammed onto Dragohoho to deal a more devastating splash than normal Splash Sis. Aqua emerges triumphant while Daisy's eyes were rolling like bowling balls with stars floating over her head.

"Woohoo! Advanced Splash Sis!" Aqua cheered.

While Luigi shook Daisy back to her senses, Mario checked his SP gauge and was shocked by how much they lost.

"These advanced moves are cool, but let's be careful! Apparently, they cost more SP than normal Sib Attacks," Mario warned.

"Don't worry. We'll be okay," Luigi reassured as Daisy regained her senses.

Dragohoho was now fuming and glowing red. He shot rocks out of his mouth even faster.

"Is this seriously his only attack? How lame!" thought Mario as he was dodging.

One the attack was over, Mario gave everyone syrup to refill their SP. Then the two princesses finished off the dragon with another Advanced Splash Sis.

[BGM end]

With Dragohoho defeated, he glew a bright light and slowly shrunk down in size, transforming into a short young man with blonde hair arranged in locks-style, green skin and wearing a white prince charm-like outfit with a white cape with a red bottom. Team Mario remained speechless that such a ferocious dragon was a handsome young beanish person all this time.

[BGM: Prince Peasley - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]

"Heh heh heh!" he chuckled as he swung his hair in the breeze, giving off a purple aura for a few seconds. "Cheers to your mustaches, and your kind young ladies!"

"A-Are you… Prince Peasley?" Mario asked confused, until Blablanadon flew back to them in good shape. Though he was at a slight loss of breath.

"Th-this incredibly dazzling man is none other than Prince Peasley! What happened to you?!" he cried out.

"Heh heh heh!" Peasley chuckled again as he swung his hair and gave off another aura.

"Please stop doing that! It's making me rather uncomfortable!" thought Luigi, who had a strange feeling in his stomach.

"Well! I suppose you could call it a bit of an accident. As I was investigating events throughout the country for this top secret mission I'm on… I suddenly encountered Cackletta and her vile underling, Fawful, here on this mountain… But by the time I realized who the fiends were, it was too late… They transformed me into THAT and shut me inside the egg." He swung his hair again with yet another beautiful aura given off. Luigi's face went red. Daisy noticed this and angrily covered his eyes. Mario then stepped in to talk.

"Your highness, we're all here because those same crooks you just mentioned stole Princess Peach's voice. Did you hear anything about their plans before you got transformed?"

"Is that so?" Peasley replied.

Then, a cyan board shaped like a bean with wings flew down next to Peasley. "Heh heh heh… I wouldn't worry about Princess Peach. I'm quite sure she'll be fine."

"How do you know?" asked Aqua.

"You'll see soon." Peasley responded as he jumped on the flying board. "At any rate, we should chase after Cackletta! I want you to visit my mother, Queen Bean in Beanbean Castle once you climb down the mountain. It may be that Cackletta's next target is in Beanbean Castle! I'd bet my life on it!"

Peasley met his gaze with Luigi and took out a golden rose. "Oh! Heh heh heh… Here's a gift from me. Autographed, of course!"

Peasley tossed the rose over to Luigi, who caught it with his gloved hands, much to increase the butterflies fluttering around in his stomach, and make the red hues on his cheeks more apparent. Daisy was also turning red, but in a different kind of way.

"Um… th-thank you…"

"Heh heh heh… Yes, since I think a rose matches your green perfectly!" Peasley complimented.

"No! No! Stop! You like Daisy, remember? ONLY Daisy!" Luigi begged himself in his thoughts.

"If you show that rose at Beanbean Castle, they'll permit you to enter!" Peasley told them as he once again swung his hair and gave off the aura again. "And with that, I must get back to my mission! May we meet again!"

Peasley flew away. Now, Daisy was usually delicate towards flowers and cared for them like they were people. But this was an exception. She desperately wanted to take that golden rose and stomp it into the hard stone ground beneath her high heels like the roadkill it was. The only reason she didn't was because they needed it to enter Beanbean Castle. Aqua noticed Daisy fuming and raised one eyebrow.

[BGM end]

"What are you so angry about?"

"I-I…" Not thinking her sister would understand, Daisy just dismissed it. "You'll… understand when you're older. Let's head back down."

They all grabbed onto Blablanadon and he took them safely down the mountain. Much to the heroes relief as that climb up Hoohoo Mountain was just BRUTAL!

"I guess we were both right about the egg, in a way," said Mario.

"Heh. You're right. Sorry if I was a pain," replied Daisy.

[BGM: Hoohoo Village - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]

Hoohoo Village

Once they got back to Hoohoo Village, Blablanadon sat down in his nest.

"Thanks, Blabby! We'll take things from here," said Mario.

"Anytime, just don't forget to check your map if you get lost," Blablanadon advised.

As Mario and Co. walked through the village, Daisy just remembered something.

"Now that I think about it, aren't we supposed to bring a Hoohoo Block to the Hammerhead Bros?" Daisy mentioned.

"Yeah, but I dropped my Hoohoo Block when Dragohoho woke up," said Luigi.

"Actually, I think I saw that rock fall down the waterfall. It must have landed here somewhere," said Aqua.

"Let's check with the bros. house. Maybe they saw it," Mario said.

The group nodded and went inside the Hammerhead Bros' house. Surprisingly enough, there was a Hoohoo Block sitting on the anvil.

"Hmph! Boy, did YOU all arrive at exactly the right time!" Sledge said. "Just now, a Hoohoo Block fell down in the waterfall!"

"Wow! Whaddaya know?" Luigi scratched his head sheepishly.

"Check it out: We'll use them to make you the ultimate Hammer!" Mallet said.

"About time!" Mario smiled.

They watched both brothers hammer the block with their hammer-shaped heads, crafting it into something new. Soon, the result was four hammers with a wooden handle and real iron heads. They did look sturdy.

"Hoo! Hoo! Hooo… Man, it feels so GREAT to be makin' Hammers again after such a long break!" Sledge gave a sigh of victory and relief.

"In fact, it feels so darn great that we went ahead and made you guys FOUR HAMMERS!" Mallet exclaimed.

"Look at that craftsmanship! POW! Now you're playin' with power!"

"NINTENDO POWER!" the Mario Bros finished.

"Yeah! You got that right! These bad boys are now all yours!" Mallet smiled.

"Thank you so much!" Mario thanked as he and his bro took two of the hammers.

Daisy and Aqua tried to pick up their hammers. However, they couldn't get them an inch off the ground and just struggled.

"Hey! What's the big idea?!" Daisy complained.

"I think it's because we're not superhuman…" Aqua assumed.

"Oh… Well, that's a problem," said Sledge.

"Hold on. Maybe Toadsworth packed something useful, and lighter," Mario checked their suitcase and pushed aside the clothes and passports. After a minute of digging, he took out two parasols that were pink with a white frilly outline showing Peach's logo. They were exact replicas of Princess Peach's parasol that Toadsworth presumably packed for her sisters. Both princesses got a hold of them.

"Sweet! We get to be just like Peach!" Aqua cheered.

"Not exactly my style, but it'll do," Daisy said plainly.

"Try whackin' all kinds of stuff with those Hammers. One manly whack breaks the hardest rocks!" Sledge said.

"Good luck, y'all!" Mallet waved.

"Bye!" the group waved back as they left the house.

Once they were out, the group made it all the way back to the spot blocked by the statue. Mario used his hammer to destroy it in a single whack, leaving them all astonished.

"Woah…" they all gasped.

"It's stronger than the hammers we had on our Star Spirit journey," Luigi referenced.

"I've got a good feeling about this journey, fellas. Next stop, BEANBEAN CASTLE!" Mario announced as they followed the newly opened path.

[BGM end]

A/N: For any Luaisy fans and/or those who aren't fans of yaoi, don't worry about that tease between Luigi and Peasley. I'm just playing it for laughs. Luigi x Daisy is still the true pairing.
