So the fourth gym has finally come and I can safely say I loved writing it. The fourth gym leader is an oc and it is heavily inspired by Mythology. Anyone that gets the reference I tip my hat to you. Let me know if you liked the theme of the gym and the gym leader. Feel free to review I love reading them.
Elesa yelled out exasperated "How am I suppose to get to the gym leader"?
There in front of me was the fourth gym and it was something odd even for the pokemon world. I had never seen something like this before. The gym was in the middle of the city and it was something that was so out of place in Nimbasa City. It was a giant tree that was surrounded by its little ecosystem. Our group was currently standing on the edge of the large crater overlooking the gym. Down below Forests and lakes surrounded the gym. There were even a few small mountains and waterfalls down in the forests. It looked like quite a serene place. Elesa had called the gym once we made it to the city and register herself and me for a gym battle. She must have been feeling confident or annoyed at me because she scheduled her battle before mine.
Kukui looked at Elesa and smirked. He threw out his Pokeball and Braviary came out. He said, "Man am I glad I have a flying type". Elesa shot him a dirty look that soon turned to me when she heard me stifle a laugh. I was quick to call out Ancalagon and I was going to get on his back when Aurea step in front of Elesa.
She said, "I am sure that N, Aragorn, and I would be happy to walk with you to the entrance of the gym".
N bobbed his head up and down and said, "Of course we will go with you. I wonder what type of Pokemon will be in the forests".
I was about to say something when I looked to see that N had turned towards me and was giving me a pleading look. I sighed and recalled Ancalagon. I heard a snicker from Kukui and I was quick to add on "Kukui should be our guide through the forest. I'm certain Alola has made him more accustomed to giant forests".
Kukui said "Now I'm not sure", but he was cut off when Elesa grabbed his hands and asked "Is that true Kukui? Will you be our guide to get to the gym"? Kukui uncomfortably shuffled in place and finally nodded. He then turned to me and scowled when he saw that I was snickering at him.
Elesa was the first to release her Blitzle and her Emolga. Aurea released her Minccino and Kukui threw out his Lycanrock and Incineroar. N had his Zorua out and prancing about while I threw out Mandos, Smaug, and Mordor. Mordor quickly snugged up to my neck and returned to sleep. Smaug was quick to pick up N and prance around. I smiled at that. Smaug seemed to take protecting N very seriously. I was again surprised at the similarities between Smaug the dragon and this Smaug. I still wasn't exactly sure how the bond phenomenon worked with Mandos, but it wouldn't hurt to have Mandos spending time with me out of his Pokeball. He walked next to me and his large buster sword was hanging on his back. His ears were snapping back and forth constantly. His constant vigilance was appreciated. It was one of the many similarities the two of us shared.
The group looped around the large crater and after a few hours, we were able to find the path leading to the giant tree. The entrance to the forest was something almost otherworldly. It was a large white arch that had plant overgrowth on the columns. Once we walked through the entrance we were greeted to a forest with a sense of tranquility running through it. Brownish leaves scattered across the floor and the trees. It was obvious that fall had come. No one seemed to want to disturb the serenity of the forest. Elesa was stunned in silence until I gave her a small push forward breaking the scene of tranquility.
She shot me an annoyed look and whisper yelled: "Why would you do that? I was thinking of a new fashion design I could have used for the scene".
I just shook my head and walked through the gate with Mandos at my side. It was pretty clear that this was a test of the gym. I had concluded that most gyms had some sort of underlying meaning to them. If you took a quick look at each of the gyms I had beat so far it was clear that they all followed a theme. Sylvain was about being adaptable. It was a good lesson to learn as a starting trainer. Lenora was focused on overcoming impossible odds and learning to read your opponents. Lastly, Burgh was heavily focused on being able to deal with the pressure of a crowd. I had no clue what the underlying meaning of this gym was, but it was something that had to deal with the serenity of this forest. The rest of the group had started to move into the forest after me and once everyone had crossed the entrance we were graced with the presence of a white Florges. The Florges looked at us and then turned away and started going down one of the many paths. It seemed that the Florgess wanted us to follow it.
Mandos said, "We should be careful. Florges are very tricky pokemon".
I looked towards the others in the group and they seemed to be walking in a daze towards the Florges. Incineroar slammed his fist into Kukui and I winced when I saw that. It reminded me far too much of when Ancalagon bit the top of my head. Kukui seemed to be snapped out of the daze though and looked around questioningly. I glanced over to see that Zorua was trying to get N's attention, but nothing seemed to work. I looked up to my shoulders and saw that Mordor seemed to still be sleeping comfortably and I sighed in relief. It brought up the question why wasn't I affected?
I asked Mandos "Why aren't you or I affected by the Florges"?
Mandos looked at the retreating pokemon ad said "I felt something trying to enter my thoughts and I pulsed my aura to block it. Once I realized you were under the influence I connected our minds using aura to block out the flow of thoughts".
I nodded and asked, "Could you do it with the others"?
Mandos shook his head and said, "No. I believe you are aware, but the two of us are connected. The battle with the pokemon you named Giratina has caused some type of bond to form between you and me. At times I can feel your emotions".
I nodded and heard Kukui ask "Hey where is everyone going"?
I shrugged and saw that Zorua approached me. It quickly transformed into a Sneasel and pointed towards the group. I turned to Kukui and said, "I'm not sure, but I think the Florges is leading our friends astray. We need to follow them and be ready to fight".
Kukui nodded and I reached in my bag and rummaged around. I still had the fossil, but that wasn't what I was looking for. I continued to rummage the bag and I sighed. It looks like I didn't have a string or something to mark where we had gone. Kukui gave me an odd look and asked "What are you looking for"?
I turned and said, "something to help us keep track of where we went". Kukui smiled and pulled out a loaf of bread. I facepalmed as Kukui left crumbs of bread to retrace our steps. This was far too much like Hansel and Gretel for my liking. I would have voiced my disapproval, but I didn't have anything to mark where we went. Kukui was smiling and assuring me everything would be fine. His Alolan heritage was showing because he was extremely relaxed in our current situation. We continued through the forest with our group. I even tried to lightly tap Aurea at one point, but she didn't seem to break out of the daze. Eventually, the Florges simply disappeared into the forest and our group slowly snapped out of the daze.
Aurea turned towards Kukui and me and glared. She asked, "Care to explain where we are"?
Kukui held up his hands and then pointed behind us. He said, "Relax. We kept a trail so we could make our way back to the beginning of the forest".
Elesa meanwhile was freaking out and asked "What trail"?
Kukui turned back towards the trail and saw that multiple pokemon had been eating the bread. I would have laughed at the irony of the situation if I wasn't in it. So we continued to wander around the forest all the while N was clutching my hand and Zorua simultaneously. Aurea was jotting down notes and Elesa was currently marching in front of the group. I had offered to take the lead, but she resolutely refused my suggestion and had taken the spot. Kukui had his arms behind his head and not a care in the world. We came to a clearing and the obvious fairy tale reference was starting to give me a headache. There in front of us was a large candy house. N tried to bolt towards the house and consume some of the candy. I quickly grabbed his shirt and he kicked his legs in the air. I gave him a look and he seemed to have calmed down. I couldn't do anything about Kukui though. He waltzes up to the house and took a bite of the candy. His relaxed grin became a smile as he grabbed another piece of the house.
Aurea asked the question we were all thinking "Why is there a house made of candy in the middle of the forest and how has it not gone bad yet"?
Still holding N I gave her a half-hearted reply "Maybe it's magic".
Elesa scowled and asked "What does it matter? All I want to do is challenge the gym. Is that too much to ask for"?
It seemed like Elesa hadn't learned to tempt fate because right after that an old lady with a hunch and a wart on her nose came out from behind the house. She said "My I haven't seen children in these woods in ages. Would you like to stay awhile and help an old blind lady"?
Immediately alarm bells ran through my head and I turned to Mandos and said to him telepathically "Go over there and knock the old lady out".
Mandos looked at me appalled and said "I will do no such thing. I am a knight of honor and protecting the elderly is one of my many jobs".
I sighed and said, "Fine give me your sword then and I will do it".
Mandos reluctantly handed me his real sword and I walked over to the blind old lady. She continued to stare at us with those murky blue eyes. She said, "My you children are such a delight. I will make you some food for your efforts".
After she said that I hit her on top of the head with the dulled side of the blade and she passed out. Elesa and Aurea screeched at me. N looked confused and Kukui asked, "What's the big deal Aragorn? She was just offering us some food".
I looked at the past out witch and turned away from the group. I motioned for Mandos to follow and we started to lead the group further into the forest. Once the rest of the group had caught up Aurea asked with a hint of venom in her question "Why did you knock out that old lady back there"?
I muttered "Stupid witches and stupid fairy tales. I just want to find the gym leader and be done with this".
Aurea fell back in silence after that and we continued. A few minutes later a trainer and her Togekiss descended on our position. The woman was immensely beautiful. She had honey-colored skin and her hair shimmered in the colors of autumn leaves. Her eyes were a blinding golden and she had immaculate cheekbones. The woman smiled at us and said in a voice reminiscent of bell chimes "You have all succeeded in the trial my chivalrous knights".
I quirked an eyebrow at that. Last time I checked I wasn't a knight. Nor were any of my companions. Elesa finally broke from her fuming and asked "Who are you and what do you mean trials"?
The lady just giggled and said "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Titania the fourth gym leader. Everyone that seeks to face me in the gym challenge must first pass a trial. Your trial was the witch in the woods and you all passed with flying colors. Although knocking out Shandria was surely an interesting way of dealing with it".
I point an accusing finger at her and said "You made it a fairy tale on purpose. What kind of weirdo would force their gym challengers into a real-life fairy tale"?
Titania just giggled again and the now named Shandria came out from the underbrush and said "My lady Titania often likes to play tricks on trainers. I am sorry for the inconvenience".
Elesa then got a determined look on her face and said "I don't care. All I want to do is get this gym battle over and done with".
Titania nodded and led our group through the rest of the forest. It was a quiet walk and Titania continued to laugh and chat happily with our group. It almost seemed like she wasn't taking this challenge seriously. I could tell that it rubbed Elesa the wrong way and I would be lying if it didn't get under my skin as well. A gym leader has an image to uphold and Titania didn't seem to care. Once we made it to the center of the tree Titania stopped and flourished her hands in the air. Soon after all different types of pokemon descended from the tree to greet us. It was like all some big game to her and I had to hold back a snide remark. Elesa on the other hand didn't. She said, "you think this is all a game don't you? Well fine don't be angry when I stomp you". I had to admit Elesa may be headstrong, but she was extremely brave to say that.
Titania just stuck her tongue out and said "I can't have fun before the gym battle lightning bolt"?
Elesa fumed at that and Aurea was quick to cover her mouth. She gave Titania a small smile and then we continued into the tree. I'm not exactly sure how to describe the tree exactly. Titania had mentioned that this tree was fascinating. It had nine different rooms and each of the nine different rooms had different environments for pokemon. An example of this was one of the rooms being a blanket of ice and snow while another of the rooms was molten lava and fire. Another room was covered in thick layers of mist and fog. Then there was the main trunk that was a normal climate and many different pokemon inhabited it. The fifth room was made of rocks, wilderness, and dense forests. The sixth room was where the psychics stayed apparently and very few people had seen it. Titania hadn't even seen it. The seventh room was a room of light and beauty. The eighth room was made to be the smithy and many of the pokemon that lived in that room lived under rocks, caver, and underground. The ninth room was at the top and Titania wouldn't say a word about it. Aurea had asked how it was possible and got a shrug in reply. Aurea grew silent after that and she seemed to be lost in her world.
Once we made it to the top we were treated to a golden room that had a distinctly golden throne on it. Titania walked up to the throne on sat down on it. She pulled out her own Pokedex and said "Alright everyone. Today I have two gym challenges and I want to share these matches with all of you. I hope you are all rooting for me".
I looked around and I saw television equipment everywhere. Titania stood from her throne and the cameras around the room zoomed in on her and then they quickly turned to Elesa and me. I groaned when I saw the cameras. Elesa smiled and did a pose. Titania nodded her head and said, "Not bad for beginners. I hope you don't mind because I'm a part-time model and I want to make sure I get as much exposure as possible during these battles. They let my pokemon shine during them".
Elesa smirked and said, "I don't mind at all. I am also an aspiring model so I would love to challenge another one".
I winced as we all took our seats. Elesa had done well in her last few gym matches, but she was getting far too overconfident. I would know. This wasn't going to be a pretty match. It was a two pokemon match. Titania was quick to throw out her Togekiss. It was a good play. She didn't want to give Elesa an advantage by showing her other pokemon. Elesa threw out Blitzle first and was the first to act. She said, " Use quick attack".
Titania smiled and posed to the cameras. She said "Fly up high dear"
Togekiss took to the sky and Blitzles quick attack did nothing. Blitzle looked up in the sky and waited for his next move. Togekiss on the other hand let loose a dazzling gleam and the Biltzle directly. Blitzle took the hit directly and as the dust cleared Blitzle had fainted. I winced as I looked at Elesa's face. She was fuming and quickly threw out her next pokemon. Emolga appeared on the field as Blitzle was called back.
Elesa snapped out to Emolga "Use attract and then a thunderbolt
Titania just made a small movement with her hand and my eyes narrowed at that. Titania was certainly more than she appeared. She was performing moves without audible directions and that meant she was a skilled trainer. Togekiss moved faster than I was able to see and slammed into Emolga. Emolga was thrown back and Elesa was quick to rush over to her pokemon. Emolga seemed to have been knocked out. Elesa was huddled over her pokemon and Titania said to the cameras "Well it looks like I, Titania the queen of fairies, have done it again. Be ready for my next battle".
The cameras shut off and Titania made her way over to Elesa. She said, "It was a good battle I can tell that you care about your pokemon". Elesa just glared at her and didn't say anything. She robotically sat down and I stood up. I was about to leave when I felt someone grab onto my sleeve. I looked down to see Elesa's electric blue eyes staring at me.
She said in a no-nonsense turn "I want you to crush her. Show her this isn't some type of game".
I nodded resolutely and I slowly made my way over to the other side of the battlefield. I asked, "You want to give your pokemon a rest before we begin".
Titania just shook her head and said "No that was just a warm-up".
I shrugged and said, "I suppose you got the message to use your full team on me"?
Titania nodded and said, "You left quite the impression on Sylvain and Lenora. I'm not sure that you can handle my whole team though".
I rolled my eyes and said, "We both know you are going to use your full team so it's gonna be a six on six".
She nodded and threw out her Togekiss again. I might as well start with a type advantage. I threw out my own Pokeball and Ulmo appeared. He took one look at the cameras and went into a quick guitar solo. I groaned as Titania started to giggle. Once Ulmo had finished the referee called the start of the match. I said to Ulmo "Electrical stimulation and then Web". Titania called for her Togekiss to take to the sky again.
Electricity started to shot out of Ulmo's body. A small amount of electricity formed into his hands and Ulmo pushed off the ground and Togekiss was quick to dodge Ulmo. Ulmo landed on one of the golden walls. And then jumped again. Togekiss would continue to dodge and Ulmo left trails of electricity across the room. Titania then made a slight movement with her hand and Togekiss let loose a tri attack. Ulmo dodged the attack.
I called out " thunderwave then thunder punch".
Titania made another hand gesture and Togekiss tried to dodge the thunder wave, but instead, Togekiss ended up hitting one of the electric webs. The effect was the same and Togekiss ended up being paralyzed. I smiled when Togekiss tried to move but was met with a thunder punch. The thunder punch slammed into Togekiss and it slowly rose into the sky. It then flashed forward and was right in front of Ulmo. Ulmo tried to dodge but was met with a draining kiss. Ulmo was pushed back and Togekiss looked to have gained some of its strength back.
I responded with "Get up close and use poison jab".
Titania did a few more hand gestures and Togekiss disappeared again. I smiled when Togekiss appeared right in front of Ulmo. The get-up close was a code word for the move Poison fog. The best part was even if Ulmo missed his attacks like Poison Jab or Thunder Punch. Then his pours would excrete the poison and the pokemon wouldn't be able to avoid it. Unluckily Ulmo missed the poison jab and received a brick break. Ulmo winced but the poison gas had already started to secrete from his pours and Togekiss was unable to move in time. One of the major cons of hand signs was that it took time to perform them and get the message across to the pokemon. The poison fog sunk into Togekiss even as it flew back to its trainer. Togekiss did not look very good. Ulmo looked decent. He didn't appear too exhausted. Togekiss continued to flap its wings, but it looked pained.
Ulmo looked ready to finish this so I called out "Volt and switch".
Ulmo vaulted forward and Togekiss tried to dodge, but it was too tired. It took the volt switch head-on and fell to the ground shortly after. Titania had a frown on her face as Ulmo returned to his ball. Ancalagon quickly appeared from his ball and let loose a roar. I winced at that. I didn't want to use him for this match. Titania was no doubt a fairy specialist and half Ancalagon's moves wouldn't affect the Pokemon. Titania smiled and said, "Oh the big bad dragon has come out. Let me show you why you should never underestimate a fairy".
The next pokemon she threw out was one that had me cursing. It was quite literally the worst type match up Ancalagon could have had. An Alolan Ninetales graciously appeared out of its ball. Ancalagon didn't seem to be the slightest bit intimidated, but I wasn't happy with the match up right now. I could change, but I promised Elesa I would stomp her, and I was going to do just that. The golden room shined off Ancalagon's scales and the camera zoomed around the giant Garchomp.
I cooly said, "Ground armor then use slash". Titania responded with more hand motions to her Ninetales.
Ancalagon stomped on the ground, but nothing happened. He looked down at the floor and I cursed. It seems that Ancalagon was unable to perform Grund Armor on metals like gold or whatever metal this was. I tried to call for Ancalagon to not use slash, but it was too late. He ran forward with his slash and was hit with a blizzard. I had to cover my eyes as the blizzard covered the whole field. My eyes narrowed at that. Titania's Ninetales must have used hail after the blizzard. It was clever. I squinted and saw that Ancalagon was forced back.
He roared and I was quick to call out "dig then pop up and used ember".
More hand gestures and another Blizzard was let loose. Ancalagon was already underground at this point so it didn't hit. This time I kept my eyes open and I was greeted with a harsh stinging in my eyes. I was able to catch what she was trying to do. She wasn't using the Blizzard to hit my pokemon, but to make me close my eyes. She didn't want me to know that she was buffing up her Ninetales. Her Ninetales had just used a Calm Mind. I grunted at that. Ancalagon popped out of the ground and slammed into the Ninetales and then let loose an ember right after. The Ninetales used protect against the ember. Oh, that was going to be annoying. Protects in the anime was an extremely annoying move. If the pokemon trainer was good enough they could spam protect and nothing would be able to touch the pokemon. The only problem was that if the move was strong enough it could break through the protect and the pokemon would take twice the damage. The problem with this was that ember wasn't a strong enough move and most of the moves Ancalagon knew that were strong enough were dragon-type moves that wouldn't affect fairy types. This time Titania performed her hand movements first.
I responded with "slash through the blizzard".
It was a bad move, but I was locked in a corner. I couldn't have her buffing up Ninetales anymore than she already did. This Blizzard was another setup. I just hoped Ancalagon could fight through another full hit Blizzard. I continued to watch on as Ancalagon brushed off the blizzard and slammed a slash into the Ninetales. The Ninetales was flung back, but it had already let loose a dazzling gleam. I cursed under my breath. This was not good. While Ancalagon had trained to cover the extreme cold he didn't train much to cover the fairy weakness. This was mostly due to me not having a fairy type pokemon. Of course, I had him fight fairy types in the wild, but they were nowhere near as strong as gym leader pokemon. The dazzling gleam hit Ancalagon directly and my giant dragon let loose a roar before he fell to the ground. I walked over and gently rubbed his favorite spot. He had done well with such a type disadvantage. I quickly threw out Smaug. The golden room seemed to match him rather well.
Titania grinned and said "A magnificent beast, but my fairies won't lose".
I looked at her and said, "Smaug is as fast as lightning he won't fail". Titania was baiting me and I wouldn't let it get to me. Instead, Smaug disappeared once the battle started thanks to extreme speed. I smiled at the new hidden attack phrase. Smaug being fast as lightning was meant to tell Smaug to use extreme speed. He would then followed that up with flame wheel further increasing his speed. Smaug then slammed into the Ninetales with a flame wheel and the Ninetales was sent skidding towards its trainer. Titania ordered her Ninetales to use hypnosis.
I responded with "dodge and use Will-O-Wisp".
Smaug quickly dodged the Hypnosis and then followed up with purple orbs of fire that floated towards the Ninetales. The Ninetales continued to dodge the flames, but they continued to float after her. Smaug was controlling the flames so it was more like a game of chess. Ninetales would dodge and the flames would make a sharp turn making the Ninetales dodge again. Titania then called out for Ninetales to use dig.
I responded, "Bring the flames back to you then jump".
The Will-O-Wisp floated back towards Smaug and he jumped into the air. Ninetales appeared out of the ground and had Will-O-Wisp slam into her. She slid across the floor and slowly stood up. The Ninetales then winced from the burn that the Will-O-Wisp had caused. Then I ordered "Flame burst". Ninetales looked towards Titania and she followed with a few more hand signs.
The flame burst bared down on the Ninetales, but it used protect. The Ninetales winced from the burn and the Flame burst broke the protect. The Ninetales still barely standing let out a hyper beam that hit Smaug directly. I winced as I saw Smaug fall to the ground like a meteor. However, Smaug slowly stood up and it was obvious he was winded. Ninetales on the other hand had fainted. Titania was quick to return her Ninetales. Smaug slowly made his way over to my side and the referee asked if I wanted to switch out. I nodded and quickly recalled Smaug. He would need his strength for the next few battles. Titania threw out her next pokemon and a Grandbull came out. She put her hands to her cheeks and said "Oh my you have gotten to one of my strongest pokemon. You better watch out".
I quirked an eyebrow at her and threw out Mithril. He preened with pride and I was quick to call out "aqua jet then metal claw".
Mithril shot forward and Grandbull shrank back. My lip curved into a frown. Pokemon that wanted to battle didn't shrink away from attacks. Mithril landed his attack and Titania continued to sit there and grin at me. My frown deepened as Mithril slammed his metal claw into the Grandbull. The Grandbull fainted and my frown grew. That wasn't a battle and Mithril seemed to wholly agree with me. Titania just continued to smile and said "Oh no you beat my strongest pokemon. I have no hope of beating a pokemon trainer as strong as you. I might as well give up now".
I snarled at that and asked, "What the hell was that. That pokemon didn't want to battle. It just sat there. I refuse to battle someone who isn't taking this seriously".
Titania tilted her head and said, "I am taking this seriously. He is one of my favorite pokemon".
I motioned for the match to continue and Titania threw out her next Pokeball. A Galarian Rapidash appeared and neighed. I said to Mithril "Let's try this again. Aqua jet then Metal claw".
Mithril shot forward and hit the Rapidash with an aqua jet. What was her plan? Was she just giving up? I wouldn't take a badge from a gym leader who just gave up. Then Titania made a slight twitch of her hand and the Galarian Rapidash's body flared up in electricity. He then used Wild Charge and slammed into Mithril before the metal claw could hit. I was left stunned when Mithril was knocked out. I was angry. Titania was playing this like a game and that pissed me off. I quickly recalled Mithril and threw out Gimli's Pokeball. It may not have been a good type match up, but all I wanted to do right now was stomp all over Titania.
The next words Titania said just fueled that fire "Do you think I am trying now"?
My hands clenched and then I said to Gimli "Bullet punch pound the Rapidash into the ground".
Gimli rushed forward and started to slam bullet punch after bullet punch into the Galarian Rapidash. The Rapidash gracefully dodged each of the attacks. All Gimli had to do was land one bullet punch. The Rapidash then shot off a Psycho Cut and Gimli ended up punching it. He pulled back his fist, but I hadn't told him to stop so he continued to throw punch after punch at the Rapidash. I admit it wasn't a good plan, but I was fed up with this lady. All she did was play games with people. Just like how she messed with Elesa. Gimli then landed a bullet punch and sent the Rapidash skidding off to the side. The Rapidash then straightened and used Zen headbutt to smash into Gimli. Dust filled the area and once the dust had settled Gimli was knocked out on the floor. Titania giggled and said, "Your battle style certainly changes when you are angry".
I called Gimli back and said, "Shut up. You think this is all a game. What you did to Elesa was just cruel".
Titania just smirked at that and shrugged her shoulders. It was official Titania had made it on my hate list. Considering most of my hate list was mainly scummy evil villains it was quite the accomplishment. I then threw out Smaug and he roared as he came back onto the battlefield. He must have been able to sense my rage because he had started to growl at our opponents. The Rapidash almost immediately shot off a confusion. It was almost as if the Rapidash was talking to Titania through their minds and then I cursed when I realized the Rapidash was probably doing just that. It was psychic fairy after all.
I called out to Smaug "Flamethrower in a vortex".
Smaug let loose a flamethrower and spread it across the battlefield. Rapidash dodged the fires gracefully and then Titania said out loud "Wow you completely missed us. Your accuracy is terrible. No wonder Elesa loss if she had you to help her train".
I slowly pushed down the anger building up and I grit my teeth out and said one-word "Eruption".
Titania's face shifted from amused to worried in seconds. The flames around Rapidash shot up in miniature eruptions. The eruptions continued to go off and then the flames covered the whole golden floor. Soon there was only fire and Titania was the one panicking now. I then said "Fire burst".
Smaug let loose a Fire Burst and it slammed towards the Rapidash. The Rapidash tried to dodge, but the Fire Burst slammed into it and the Rapidash fainted. The referee asked if I wanted to change, but Smaug let out a defiant growl. I shook my head. I'm not sure if it was the anger still or the advantage Smaug had on the battlefield, but I decided to keep him in. Titania threw out her next pokemon and I scrunched my nose at the pokemon. It was a Primarina. Titania was quick to order Primarina to use aqua ring and then Hydro Pump.
I countered with "Extreme speed and then thunder fang".
Smaug lunged forward with Extreme speed to stop the aqua ring, but it was too late. He did manage to get a hit in with extreme speed and then followed it up with thunder fang. Primarina was caught in between Smaugs mouth, but it still let loose a hydro pump. I winced because Smaug was already injured from his battle before. I looked at Smaug as he struggled to get up, but Titania didn't let up and Primarina let loose an aqua jet right at Smaug. I called for Smaug to dodge, but he just couldn't move. He took the aqua jet head-on and fainted. I quickly called him back. It was a two versus two now and I had Ulmo, but I wanted to save him for the fight against the last unknown pokemon. I quickly threw out Mandos.
He appeared on the battlefield with his Buster Sword drawn. Titania smiled and said, "I was wondering when you would send him out. You two seem close".
I slowly took a deep breath and didn't respond. My anger had led me to lose Smaug and I wasn't going to do that again. Primarina looked towards Titania and she performed a few hand signs. I countered with "Sword dance and then meteor mash".
Mandos closed his eyes and performed a swords dance while Primarina started to sing. I grit my teeth and Mandos seemed to understand. He dodged without me even saying anything. He then threw his sword causing Primarina to dodge and then slammed into the Primarina using Meteor Mash. Primarina shot out a brine. Mandos was hit and pushed back. He quickly resummoned his sword and blocked the oncoming hydro pump. Mandos then slammed the sword into Primarina like a bat and sent her flying into one of the golden walls. Mandos and I were again reaching a point where we weren't even talking anymore. I would think of a move and he would perform it. The two of us were in sync. Mandos was then hit with a Dazzling Gleam. He slowly skidded back and then dark purple energy started to form around Mandos. It was just like before. The dark purple blackness surrounded Mandos and me. I heard Titania ask "what is happening"?
No one seemed to know except for me. The bond phenomenon was strange. It was like I was on the battlefield battling. I would need to talk to Augustine soon to find out more about it. The dark energy dispersed and Mandos was standing in his new Mega form. It was just like before. The ethereal blue flames and the Anubis like form. Mandos rushed forward and slammed his sword into Primarina again. Only this time Primarina was knocked out from the force of the sword. Mandos and I continued to wait for Titania to send out her final pokemon. The referee asked if I wanted to change, but I just shook my head. Titania threw out her last Pokeball and a Mimikyu came out. Its head was straight up meaning it still had its disguise on. Lucario let loose an Aura beam off the buster sword and before Mimikyu could react it was hit with the attack. Its head dropped and the disguise was useless now. Titania ordered Mimikyu to use shadow sneak. Mandos simply stood in place and performed another swords dance. Once Mimikyu reappeared Mandos grabbed a hold of the Mimikyu and threw it against the wall. He then followed it up with the buster sword and slammed it into the Mimikyu. The only way to describe Mandos's fighting style was brutal. Titania then did more hand gestures and Mimikyu used Pain Split. I winced when I felt the same pain that Mandos had felt. Mimikyu then used Will-O-Wisp, but Mandos dodged and used his sword to push off the ground. He then use Meteor Mash and slammed it into the Mimikyu. This led to the Golden wall in the room to crack and show a view to the outside. Mimikyu slid across the floor and fainted. I looked over at Mandos to see he had reverted to normal. I slowly walked over to him and asked "Are you ok"?
He nodded and said, "I am just tired. That form takes more energy out of me than anything I have ever done. At least we didn't pass out this time".
I nodded and I was brought in a group hug by my friends and my remaining pokemon. I also received plenty of questions. Once I broke away from everyone I walked over to Titania and asked "Can I get my badge now"?
She turned to look at me and asked "What was that"?
I shrugged and said, "I'm not exactly sure".
She nodded at that and handed me the badge. It was a small fairy. I smiled. I had just gotten my fourth gym badge. I had four more gym battles to go before I could enter the Unova League. Later that night I had just gotten my pokemon healed and I was about to go outside when I heard two people talking. It was Titania and Elesa.
Titania started "I meant what I said. It was a good battle".
Elesa seemed to scoff at that and said "I'm sure it was. I couldn't even land a hit on your Togekiss. Aragorn knocked out all your pokemon now that was a battle".
Titania giggled and said, "Let me rephrase that. You have a good spark for a trainer. You care about them a lot and it is easy to see. That is what I meant when I said you battled well".
Elesa huffed and asked, "what does it matter to you"?
Titania spoke with a hint of something in her voice "I remember being like you. I loved my pokemon, but I just couldn't compete with my traveling companion. He was way too good at being a trainer. I always compared myself to him and eventually that consumed me. I said things I wish I could take back, but I can't and I drove him away".
Elesa asked, "What does this have to do with me"?
Titania gave a sad smile and said "Let me finish. From that day forward I realized I wasn't going to be as great a Pokemon trainer as he was so I found my route. I became a celebrity and eventually, my pokemon grew stronger because I had chosen my path".
Elesa stubbornly said, "I still don't see why you are telling me this".
Titania sighed and said "I'm telling you this Elesa because you are going down the same path as I did. I don't want you to destroy one of your friendships like I did. Instead, I want to offer you a chance to train under me. You want to be a model right? I know some people and I can get you in touch with some agents".
A small silence stretched on and Titania eventually said "You don't need to take me up on the offer now. Journeys are important and I want my new protege to experience the world. Just let me know if you want my help. It will only take a month or two to get you started. I'm sure your friends will understand".
Titania then walked back into the pokemon center and shot me a look. It screamed that I should go talk to Elesa. I sighed and walked out in front of the pokemon center. I sat down next to Elesa and looked up at the stars.
Elesa asked, "What do you think I should do Aragorn"?
This was the first time I had seen Elesa so lost and I wasn't sure how to respond. I eventually decided to answer truthfully "I don't know Elesa. All I can say is that I will support your decision no matter what you do".
Elesa tilted her head and then asked "What if I did take the deal? Would you guys be willing to wait for a month or two"?
I continued to look up at the sky and spoke again "I planned to go to Sinnoh for a week or two. I guess I could extend it to a month. I have four badges now and in a month or two I will still have five months to get the last four badges. I should be fine. All things considered, I think Aurea and Kukui want to stay and examine the tree. That would take years to completely figure out how it works so I think they are fine with staying. I'm sure N will come with me or he might want to stay with you guys. I'm sure he will be fine with it".
Elesa looked at me and asked 'What are you doing in Sinnoh? Maybe you are visiting that girl".
I laughed and continued to look at the stars. I eventually said, "Yah I'm gonna see her, Augustine, and Gramps".
A silence fell over us as we continued to look up at the sky. Elesa finally asked "Do you think we will turn out like Titania and her friend? Will we hate each other"?
I leaned back and closed my eyes. I eventually said, "I'm not sure. All I can say is I won't turn my back on you Elesa. I think you should go for it. Titania would help your modeling career take off".
Elesa didn't seem to take too kindly to my response and yelled "You want me to give up battling then. I knew you thought I was an awful trainer. Why don't you just say it"?
I slowly let out a breath from my nose and said "You know that isn't what I meant. I just think taking a different path than I would be more beneficial than following my footsteps".
I almost immediately knew I said the wrong words when Elesa's face turned scarlet red. She glared at me and asked, "who said I was following in your footsteps? I'm sick of everyone comparing me to you Mr. Perfect Battler".
She stood and left after that. I sighed that could have gone better. Elesa was pissed and I continued to stare up at the stars. I sat there and a famous quote from Buddha came to my mind. "No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path".
So the chapter is done and it was fun to write. Now Elesa losing so badly was suppose to be a wake-up call for her. She had stormed through a few gyms, and Titania's ability to get under people's skin would heavily affect her fight. I also thought this would be a good way to shift her goals from battling to modeling. I also Titania would be a good role model for Elesa. That's pretty much it feel free to review I love reading them.
