True Love Travels Far
Well ladies and gentlemen of Fanfiction! We have arrived at the tenth chapter! As explained before, I want to focus more on the canaries Nico and Violet in this chapter! As well as he odd moments from Pedro and Alex! So without further ado…let's fret straight to it? I thought you wouldn't ask!
Back in Blu and Jewel's hollow Jewel was inside with all of the females including Hazel, Carla and Tiago. They were all really distressed about this shocking turn of events.
Tanya placed the bag of items outside of the hollow, while the guys go through everything to see what would be useful to them.
"Nico, where did you get these firecrackers from? They're extremely dangerous!" Alex pointed out while placing them gently next to the bag.
"I found them in some sealed container by the shore! Humans like to use them during holidays or days out! Could be used as a distraction?" Nico suggested while taking out the other various items he found.
"Not a bad idea! I would have thought we could get Siax to do some belly dancing for the birds! So we can slip in behind them when they are distracted!"
"Wouldn't that be putting your girlfriend in danger?"
"Hey, it was her idea! I'm completely against it! These firecrackers would be a perfect plan A! I suppose my girlfriend would be plan B!"
"Hey? What is this Nico?" Pedro asked curiously while pulling out a plastic bag from the bigger bag. Making Nico and Alex turn to face him.
"Oh Pedro that's…meat! You know, like the meat we had in Minnesota?" Nico smiled mischievously as he knew that it was the bag of dog crap. He clearly forgot to remove it from the bag.
"Oh really? It kind of…stinks a bit bro?" The red crested cardinal cringed as he opened up the bag to take a whiff of what was inside.
"No no it genuinely is! Unless…you're too scared to taste it?" Nico mocked him as he started making chicken noises.
"Hey! I'm no chicken bro! Watch this!" Pedro argued back in annoyance and closed his eyes as he put his beak straight into the…solid. "Mmmm delic…what the hell!"
Pedro started cringing and gagging. Trying to get all of the mess out of his beak.
Nico started rolling around on the floor in laughter, making Alex, Malcom, Rafael, Jameson and Kipo give Nico a curious stare.
"I can't believe you did that! Hahahaha!" The male canary chuckled while wiping away a few tears.
"What was in the bag Nico? It tastes like crap!" Pedro cringed while spitting out the disgusting solid in his beak.
"IT IS! It's dog crap!" Soon all the males burst into laughter and begun rolling around on the floor in stitches. Alex was laughing so much that he started panting because his stomach hurt so much.
"You are kidding me? This is a joke right? TELL ME IT IS A JOKE!" Pedro started screaming and flew over to the sea that wasn't too far from the hollow.
"Oh my god! That was the best thing I ever saw! Good one Nico!" Malcom complimented the canary while giving him a fist bump.
"I've been waiting for months to get him back for all of his pranking! That is the icing on the…wait what is he doing?" Nico paused for a second as he saw Pedro flying back over to them with what looked like a ball of seaweed.
"PAYBACK TIME!" Pedro shouted in a war cry while throwing the seaweed towards his best friend.
"Oh no!" Nico panicked and quickly dodged out of the way. Unfortunately Alex didn't see it coming and the seaweed landed on his head.
"Oh! Hey! What did I do?" The snowy owl whined while pulling the seaweed off of him. What he didn't see was a bunch of crabs have latched themselves to him. "Oh crap! Get them off! Get them off, get them off, get them off!"
"Hang on! HOLD STILL!" Malcom bellowed while continuously kicking Alex in his sides as well as his chest to get the crabs off of him. Kind of like how you would put a fire out on someone.
"OW! STOP! THAT HURTS!"
"Almost got them buddy!" Malcom responded quickly as he managed to get rid of them all, and he pulled the owl back up to his feet. "No need to thank me! I got your back dude!"
"Yes…Thank you Malcom!" The snowy owl responded rudely while dusting his feathers. He took off and flew back up to the hollow to talk to his partner.
Nico stopped laughing and turned to face Pedro who had a really calm expression. This made the canary look at him in a strange yet terrifying way.
"Truce?" Pedro asked while sticking out his wing for him to shake.
The canary looked at his wing first to see whether he had something in his wing, but when he saw that there was nothing there he shook it.
"Truce!"
"Good! Our pranking did get a bit out of hand there, am I right?"
"Absolutely! I'm glad it's over!" His best friend replied happily, as the two of them continued to sort through the items with the others.
Meanwhile in the hollow…
Tanya was tending to Jewel, who couldn't stop crying over the fact that one of her children had been taken.
"There there Jewel! Don't worry, I'm sure Blu and Martin will be back soon with a plan!" The hyacinth macaw smiled at her while rubbing her back to comfort the blue female.
"I know Tanya! I just can't believe that they had to get my little Bia involved! I will kill that Julio myself if I have to! For what he did to me and what he did to Bia!" Jewel screeched as she wiped away a few tears in her eyes.
"Wait…what did he do to you?" Tanya asked sincerely while cocking her head to the side in confusion.
"Look, I'd rather focus on the task at hand! I'll explain later!"
"But…"
"I'll speak to you later, I'm going to get some air!" Jewel cut her off and flapped her wings to fly out of the hollow.
"Well then…I better get this conversation with Violet out the way I guess?" The hyacinth female thought to herself. She called the female canary over, who was currently talking to Lexi. "Violet? Can I talk to you for a moment?"
"Sure! Of course!" Violet responded happily while waltzing over to her new friend. "What's up? Is Jewel ok?"
"She needs a bit of time! I actually wanted to talk to you about…something!"
"Ok…what is on your mind?" The female canary replied unsurely while narrowing her eyes slightly.
"Have you enjoyed your time in Rio so far?"
"It's wonderful actually! Jameson just told me he's thinking of opening up a bar here! Isn't that great!"
"Yeah of course…what about you though? You ever thought about staying here?" Tanya responded while widening her eyes in a more demanding way.
However, this little line from the hyacinth female made the canary immediately narrow her eyes at her and cross her wings.
"Did Nico put you up to this?"
"N-N-No! Of course not! Why would you think that?" Tanya stuttered while twiddling her wingtips nervously.
"This is ridiculous! Nico has barely spoken to me since I came here and now he's sending others to talk to me? That is it! Where is he!" Violet stormed off away from Tanya and found Nico wrapping up a bag of nails with Alex and Rafael. "NICO! A WORD PLEASE?!"
"Uh oh…someone's in trouble!" Alex joked while giving the bag to Kipo, and received a slap from the canary. "Ow! What was that for?"
"Shut up Alex!" Nico whined in response as he flapped his wings and followed Violet to a spot just outside of the hollow.
When Violet landed on a branch a few metres away, Nico landed just besides her and took a deep breath. "So? How can I…"
"Save it! I want to talk first!" Violet rudely cut him off before placing a wing on her heart. "Nico…it actually is really good to see you again after so long! But why haven't you made any effort to talk to me since I came here?"
"Well…I…I Erm…"
"That's what I thought! You can't even bother to talk to me because you don't even care about me!" Violet started tearing up and turned away from him, not wanting him to see her cry.
"Not care about you? Why wouldn't I care about you?" Nico widened his eyes, feeling surprised that Violet thought that.
"Well it's obvious isn't it? You haven't said a word to me since you saw me! I just want to know why you aren't making any kind of…" Violet was about to finish ranting, when Nico decided to cut her off by kissing her directly on the beak.
Nico closed his eyes and wrapped his wings around Violet as they kissed, moving his tongue in perfect synchronisation with hers. Then after a few seconds they separated from the kiss and took a deep breath.
"Violet…the truth is I'm still in love with you! I know this is a lot to ask…but the reason why I never said anything before is because…I want you to stay here with me!" Nico confessed as he brushed his wing against her cheek.
"Oh Nico…why didn't you say before?" Violet replied softly as she placed a wing on her heart, feeling touched by his words.
"I was afraid you would say no and leave back to Minnesota! I can't live without you Violet! I love you!" Nico spoke from the heart while taking off his bottle cap.
Violet looked at the male with teary eyes. She literally had no idea what to say to him at this point. She wanted to stay with him so much! But finding the right words was becoming a bit of a problem.
"Nico…I…"
"HEY GUYS!" Pedro shouted at the two of them which made Violet fall off of the branch. Using his quick thinking, Nico zoomed down and caught her just before she hit the floor.
"PEDRO! Can't you see I was in the middle of an important discussion?" Nico shouted at his best friend as he placed Violet on the floor.
"I'm afraid this can't wait bro! Blu and Martin are back! But with someone else…"
"Who?" Violet wondered when recovering from her little shock a few seconds ago.
"Sergio is with them!" Pedro responded before taking off and returning to the hollow as fast as he could.
Nico and Violet looked at each other only for a split second, before the male canary decided to join his best friend.
"We should probably go! Look…just think about it ok? Because I do really love you! I want you to stay here with me! But I don't want to make you stay if you really don't want to…ok?" Nico softly spoke to her before turning around and making his way to join the others. But what he heard next, made his life completely change for the better.
"But…I do want to stay with you! I love you too!" Violet shouted to him at the top of her lungs.
Nico stopped in his tracks and started hovering in mid air. He flew back to the female canary and landed just in front of her.
"What did you just say?" The party bird wondered while widening his eyes in shock.
"I said that I love you too! Nico…I would be honoured to stay here with you! If you'll have me?" Violet sweetly responded while batting her eyelashes. This made Nico blush deeply and he pulled her in for another kiss. As they enjoyed this moment…you can only imagine how annoying it is when someone tries to…ruin it!
"GUYS! STOP KISSING EACH OTHER AND GET THE HELL IN HERE!" Pedro screamed really loud before reentering the hollow.
"FINE!" Both canaries chorused as the two of them flapped their wings and returned to the others with the biggest smiles on their faces.
As soon as Nico and Violet arrived, they held each other's wings and walked over to the group of birds. Tanya was very excited to see them.
"Oh my goodness! Are you…are you gonna stay?" The hyacinth female wondered while placing both wings on either side of her face.
Nico and Violet smiled at each other, looked back over to her and they both nodded their heads.
"Oh my god! That fantastic news! I'm so happy! Ahhhh!" Tanya shrieked as she hugged both of the canaries who chuckled and hugged her back.
"AHEM!" The three of them turned around to face Blu who stood next to Sergio and Martin in the middle of the group. "Thank you! First off, congratulations Violet and Nico! Glad you decided to stay here Violet! Second of all…Sergio has something he wants to tell us all!"
"Well it better be a good bloody reason for him to show his face here! If it wasn't for my husband standing there, I'd rip your eyeballs out and make you swallow them!" Jewel growled at the dove while holding onto Lexi for comfort.
"Ewww, ok Jewel that is like soooo dark! You need to chill out honey!" Martin beamed before being shot daggers by the irritated female. "Or…not? Go ahead sweet beak!"
"Look ladies and gentlemen! I'm not here to cause any trouble! I am truly sorry for what I did to you and your friends and family! I now know what it feels like to have my heart ripped out and stamped on! Julio has returned, and he wants Nightfly dead! But I'm not going to let that happen!"
"Oh, and I suppose we are just going to…help you after what you did to us?" Chloe snapped at the dove with anger in her tone.
"I'm not expecting you to all forgive me right away for what I did! But I want to earn your trust again! My wife has been kidnapped along with your daughter! Unfortunately they are in São Paulo! But I don't know where! That's where we need to go!" Sergio finished explaining before looking at the group of birds with guilty eyes.
"But weren't you good friends with one of them? Surely you would know where they are being held?" Blu asked him while giving him a look of curiosity.
"I've never been anywhere with Julio! The only place I can remember going in São Paulo is the stadium for the local soccer team! I used to go there a lot when I first travelled to Brazil from Valencia in Spain! I didn't know the area too well but I met a nice group of birds…birds! That's it!" Sergio clapped his wings together as thought of the best idea.
"What are you talking about?" Martin wondered while waving his wing in the air to fan himself.
"Amigo! I have another contact in São Paulo who would know where Julio has taken my wife and Blu and Jewel's daughter!"
"Who would that be darling?" The green winged macaw tilted his head to the side.
"I'm not sure you know him…he has only been to Rio a few times as far as I know!" Sergio responded as he got the group of birds to lean in closer as he discussed their plan.
When the others were talking, Pedro started laughing to himself as the others talked. Lexi noticed this and looked at him in a curious manner.
"What's so funny Pedro?"
"I'm just so happy! I mean I'm sad about Bia…but I'm glad my best friend has finally found someone!" The cardinal smiled at Lexi who smiled in return. The two of them looked at both canaries warmly and returned to the huddle to listen in on Sergio's plan.
Back To São Paulo…
The room where Bia and Helena were staying with the other bird became very silent all of a sudden. An awkward silence emerged in the room.
Bia walked up to the other bird who was sitting in the corner of the room. For some reason he looked like he was in really bad shape.
"Mister? Are you sick? Your feathers look grey and old!" Bia sweetly chirped while looking at the male with the cutest little smile.
The male bird tried to stand up, but immediately he fell to the floor and looked down at his talons.
"I'll be ok kid! I think my talons might be broken after Julio and his thugs beat me with metal pipes! Other than that, I don't think I'm sick! You're a sweet girl you know that? Your parents are very lucky!"
"I'm the lucky one! My mommy and daddy are the best birds in the world! We are the last blue spix's macaws in existence!"
"Wait…are you…are you a blue spix's macaw?" The bird looked at her feathers and immediately went wide eyed. "You are aren't you?"
"Y-Y-Yes mister! Why do you feel surprised?"
"I take it your parents never mentioned me…" The bird softly spoke before crawling out of the shadows to reveal who they were.
That is it for chapter 10 I'm afraid! What a great chapter so far right? Pedro finally getting a bit of payback after all of his pranks, Alex taking the prank like a man, Violet and Nico deciding to become a couple (Hence The Title), and of course Sergio deciding to team up with the Samba birds! The only question now is…who is the bird in the room with Bia and Helena? Chapter 11…will answer that question! See you all soon!
