Naruto Of The Uchiha

First Defense

Naruto walked throughout the camp, the night was a long one as he had seen the enemy. It was a lot but less than he'd expected but he wouldn't complain. This was a blessing to fight only this many.

All the laughter and smiles that were present the night before were now gone. They were on edge as they made their final preparations. Whether it be sharpening of tools, or writing letters to loved ones if today they met their ends. Naruto jumped utop a rock and looked down towards the enemy.

They weren't on the move just yet but that would surely change. "Alright, listen up! Once they begin their march up the hill, I want everyone who know the Shadow Shuriken Jutsu to launch it down at them. We can hopefully clear out a large number of them by raining shuriken on them. The others will by slowed by the bodies that drop dead. That'll be when we launch low rank jutsu at them until the get to 150 meters. At that point, we charge."

Everyone nodded in understanding and prepared to follow the plan. They hoped the first two stages cleared a large number of them otherwise this first defense would be their last.

Naruto closed his eyes in meditation. Soon they would commence the attack and all hell would break loose. When he finally opened his eyes that still had the Sharingan always active, the sounds of shuriken being thrown and the familiar poofing of it multiplying could be heard.

He stood up and looked over to the enemy being taken out. The strategy was helping greatly as they were taking them out left and right. Soon the shuriken were replaced with fireballs, boulders and water bullets.

The Kiri shinobi used water walls in efforts of defense and continued to push further up slowly. Inevitably, they reached that 150 meter mark with having lost 500 of their shinobi. Now the 184 faced the 1000.

Naruto took a deep breath and in an instant was gone. He appeared in the center of the mass of enemies and spun around throwing his kunai in a 360 degree rotation. It hit a few in the legs and even a a couple were lethal blows to the chest however that wasn't the plan.

"What the?"

"Who the hell?"

A few of the shinobi looked to him and began to converge on him but then they were blinded by several flashes. In an instant 20 Kiri nin dropped dead and they all looked at him terrified.

"ITS THE ONE WHO TOOK ON THE MIZUKAGE!"

"WE GOTTA GET AWAY!"

"We can take him on together!"

"Yeah no way he can kill us all!"

Naruto smirked slightly. "Challenge accepted..." Naruto lowered his stance and began to take them on.

They forgot about the other Konoha nin and soon got blindsided by them. The distraction Naruto caused was effective and each Konoha nin had easy targets to get from behind.

There were several Inuzuka members that had done the fang over fang technique to mow down several shinobi. Renzo charged in behind his fireball. Hinto led with several water bullets followed by his Juuken. Zabuza used a water dragon. They were all able to use effective jutsu to gain a big blow easily since the enemy turned their attention to Naruto.

In theory they only had to take out 5 each in order to win at the start of the charge. The enemy didn't stay stunned for too long however and an Inuzuka member that charged too far learned that the hard way as several Kiri nin surrounded him and stabbed him multiple times. That marked 2nd Company's first death.

Zabuza learned from watching Naruto ride a lightning dragon, to do the same with his water one. He couldn't sustain it nearly as long as Naruto but it definitely was more effective than his original use of the dragon. Using his sword he could cut down many ninja, even if they were at a slight distance since it was such a large sword.

When the Kiri shinobi saw him, they were terrified of him as they'd all heard of his legend and now were baring witness to it. The only people who they feared more were the Mizukage and the Fox ANBU. The other legendary swordsmen also garnered such fear but it was of equal level to Zabuza.

There was also just the fact that Zabuza's debut in Kiri wasn't even as a student, he'd just slaughtered that entire class who were on the verge of becoming Genin earning him the name "Demon of the Mist".

Hinto was utilizing a technique that Naruto helped him complete. Utilizing the Hyuga's ultimate defense, the "Rotation" he either can make it expand letting it get larger and therfore approach an enemy/gain more range, or does something similar to the Inuzuka's fang over fang and can make himself into a far more devastating torpedo.

He preferred the torpedo version over the Rotation expansion since it was more effective for attacking. It would repel any attack and allowed him to get through nearly anything due to the nature of the technique.

Naruto still was giving hell, utilizing the Shunshin as his means to fight. They couldn't keep up and he'd be in a different area after someone died. For someone not using any type of true attack jutsu was something they could never expect, he decimated the enemy with just a sword. This way of fighting was one of the best ways to conserve his chakra as well as give the less fatigue.

Although using the most advanced parts of the Shunshin was something he couldn't just throw around anymore, this version still made him deadlier than most. It was Shisui's style of fighting and was proven lethal, Naruto only took it to another level.

"How can this be? How can we ever be overwhelmed?"

"Because...you lack any real power...now die." Naruto said as he stabbed the Kiri nin in the heart. He looked around and watched as his small company took on this overwhelming force and was doing well.

They lost a few men here and there, but their losses were far less. Being amidst the explosions of jutsu and the clashing of blades, Naruto stood in utter calm. Pure calmness ran through his body. "Do I really like fighting like Hinto said?"

Naruto shook the thought from his mind and turned to his right dodging a sword. He jumped over a kunai and noticed an explosive tag. "Huh" he said and teleported to one of the kunai before placing an explosive seal on a shuriken and puncturing the woman's leg. She looked down in horror as her legs were blown off.

The explosive seal was small in power so she only lost her legs. She laid defenseless as Naruto stood over her. Naruto stabbed her in the heart and grabbed grabbed her dead body placing another explosive seal however much bigger and threw it at a group of Kiri nin.

As it hit them and they turned to see what it was, they saw the slight glow on the seal and then they were no more as it blew them to pieces.

Naruto looked around and any opposition that would have charged him took a step back. Just as the stories had said, he was an immovable force. They hadn't so much as landed any type of blow on him during this entire attack. Their numbers were just plummeting slowly as the the 4 big hitters were clearing out many of the enemy with ease. Zabuza wore a broad smile as he was cutting down so many of the Kiri Nins.

These were the same ones that had sided against him and chose to follow the bastard of a Kage. That guy had no honor, no right to be the Mizukage. They would pay for betraying him.

Hinto got to Naruto's side and the two nodded. Naruto jumped up in the air spinning while throwing lightning infused shuriken around which he also placed explosive seals on creating a lot of damage and within the center of their forces, it severely weakened them.

Hinto nodded "Ok, ok. How about this?" He began spinning and around him and Naruto a blue dome appeared that then began expanding, as it hit the enemy, they got thrown with great force and collided with others. Sometimes causing a death but for the most part just threw them away. Since they hadn't attacked the dome, no attack got repelled, therefore it wasn't completely lethal.

"Ah, well technically I was more lethal. Nice try though. Becareful on how much chakra you use. We've still got a ways to go."

"Speak for yourself. I'm not the one who needs to worry." Hinto chuckled as he went back into the fighting.

Naruto shook his head and noticed that 4 Kiri shinobi all formed a water dragon that was being sent at him from all sides. He nodded having approved of the attempt. "However..." A black and red flash appeared and the dragons all collided having hit nothing. "Well you 4 clearly shouldn't be using that technique...too much chakra." he noticed that they were visibly tired from that jutsu. They must have thought that he would be killed and therefore took the gamble in hopes of taking out the strongest player.

Before they could respond, they all dropped to the ground with slit throats. Naruto stood with blood dripping off the tanto and was beginning to feel a little tired. He shook it off and pushed on. There were not too many left, once this was over he would need a headcount to know how many losses they suffered.

"Well, so far not being able to use my jutsu is working out ok...the big worry is the Jinchuriki, maybe the other battles that I'll need to face far more. For now, we've won, that's all that matters." Naruto thought to himself as he watched the remnants be taken out.

Hinto, Zabuza and Renzo all gathered to Naruto and exchanged looks. Naruto was spotless, Zabuza was covered in blood, Hinto had dirt all over him, and Renzo was a mix of both but had an open wound in his left arm.

"Well, today was successful. How you guys feeling?" Naruto said as he looked between them.

"Feeling great. Could go another round, how bout it, Fox? Let me get that rematch?" Zabuza said as he placed his sword on his back.

"Maybe later."

"I'm good, Captain. Got a wound but should be good."

"Be sure to get it checked out, Snake. We don't want to risk it getting infected and we don't know if they use poison at all." Renzo nodded to Naruto and went to a medic.

"So, how many you get?" Hinto said.

"245." Naruto smirked as Hinto pouted, taking out 2000 ryo.

"Bastard..." Hinto walked away. He'd gotten 128 and thought that'd be enough.

"Well I killed 210...do I get paid too?" Zabuza said and laughed at Hinto when Naruto simply said sure.

They all gathered up around a bonfire and were eating after the fight. It was a successful defense of their position and this would help in setting the tone of the war. They would not be pushovers and would prove that they can win.

"Captain Fox! Today was a great day! We can face anything!"

"Yeah! No matter who they are, they'll fall before us!"

Naruto chuckled and agreed with them. " What's our headcount?"

"158." Hinto said

"So we lost 26 today...I suppose it could have been worse." Naruto said as he closed his eyes and drifted to sleep where he sat.

Naruto began to gorggily wake up and it was late into the night. A few people were up still but after the fight, nearly the whole camp was asleep now. He looked around and noticed a crow flying in a circle above him. Smiling he signaled it down and it landed with a letter attached.

NARU-KUN! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!

Well I hope you're doing ok over there. Things have been boring over here since nobody's around. Kakashi-sensei left earlier this morning, I think he's headed to you. I began working on a modification to the Chidori, Sensei said it was technically an incomplete jutsu and I want to see what I can do with it. Also, I can finally make a large sealing scroll, but I don't think I can go as far into the field as you have. Hope to see you again soon!

Naruto smiled and looked to the moon before writing his reply and sending it off. He then had a bad feeling and immediately activated his Sharingan.

There was a weird haze beginning to fill the area, it got thicker over time causing vision to get obscured. It reminded him of the mist jutsu...They were under attack again.

"What the hell? Another attempt? Not good, everyone's practically asleep..." Naruto jumped up and shot a fireball into the air and channeled some lightning into it to cause an explosion that woke everyone up.

Immediately they realised what was going on and tried to prepare themselves. The enemy had had time to prepare and right now had the first move. Naruto looked to Zabuza who gave a nod and immediately vanished in the mist to do what he does best. This jutsu was his style of fighting so if there was any hope to try to rescue the situation, he was their best bet.

Hinto could see through it but not so well since it's covered in chakra, the similar issue with Naruto. Everyone circled up to watch all sides.

"Damn...I should have worked more on my wind nature, would come in real handy right about now." Naruto thought as he looked around. He and Asuma were the only two wind natured shinobi in Konoha and he had neglected in his training of it. It wasn't that he didn't like it, just that he hardly used it himself unlike Asuma.

Naruto generally mainly used fire or caused devastation with lightning. Wind was always an afterthought and used to mainly just enhance his fire attacks. This would change though, being in a situation where he could have fixed their predicament but having not sharpened his skills enough was something he wouldn't allow again.

"Captain, what's the plan?"

"I'm not sure, Snake. We don't know their numbers or positioning."

Renzo looked at him and dropped his guard. "You mean that we're going to be sitting ducks doing nothing?"

"That's not what I said."

"Well that's what it-" Renzo began choking out of nowhere so Naruto looked over and widened his eyes. A kunai was sticking out of his throat and blood was pouring everywhere. Renzo began to drop to the ground when Naruto caught him before falling completely.

Renzo's eyes held pure fear to what was going to happen. He sat helpless on his knees and couldn't even speak due to the kunai being so deep. It was obvious that he was going to die, there was no surviving this. Naruto's Sharingan watched and memorized the sight and sounds of watching him die. There was nothing they could do for him. With the gurgling and fidgeting lessening, Renzo had died right there in his arms.

Hinto had placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder, they needed to get focused. Right now they couldn't be thinking about this since they were still in danger. Naruto stood up and looked around, he noticed a shadow and shunshined to it immediately and stabbed the person with his kunai. He didn't know if he was the one that killed his squad member but it didn't matter, they'd all die.

He returned to Hinto and told him that the shadows is what they need to look for. The mist covers the body but doesn't hide the shadow. It almost highlights the shadow since its completely different in color.

"I've killed quite a bit of them, for some reason they still haven't truly attacked. I don't know what they're planning exactly but it looks like they're forming walls around us of them. Based on the formations of who I killed its likely that they are-"

"Surrounding us. That's when they'll strike, when we have nowhere to escape." Naruto said looking to Zabuza who now appeared.

Zabuza nodded "As of right now, They've surrounded us by 60%, If we move now, we might make it out and potentially find a better way to fight them off."

Naruto agreed and they began signaling everyone that they were moving. Slowly everyone got word and began to move in the direction that Zabuza said was the only way out of this situation. Still not knowing the numbers, only that it was enough to surround them all was not to pleasing.

The plan must have been to surround them, then launch jutsu to the center being able to take them all out swiftly. They were sleeping so it would have been easy to pull off. Their saving grace was that Naruto had woken up and noticed that something was off.

There still was no clear view and it only got progressively worse. How many people were putting up this jutsu? Naruto's sharingan glowed as he looked everywhere he could, trying to find where the enemy position was. At the moment they were getting along just fine but surely, the enemy would notice them leaving at some point.

Hinto pushed Naruto away as he also jumped back and it managed to get them out of the way of a water bullet that had gone right past them. A konoha nin responded with one of their own in the general direction and heard a sharp exhale from someone that got hit by it. Moving even faster now, everyone ran to get out of the impending death circle.

Naruto noticed the pocket they were heading towards and soon so did everyone else. The reached it and quickly spread apart to be able to claim as much ground as possible for themselves.

Once they turned in the direction that they escaped from, the mist began clearing. Soon dark images of the attackers appeared through the haziness of the dispersing mist. It didn't show as much as Naruto was expecting so far. Once the mist cleared completely, there stood 30 Kiri nin all with a mask on with different colored and patterned swirls on it. They had horizontal slits for eye holes and the Kiri symbol on the forehead.

Naruto looked to Zabuza and was wondering if this was what he thought. "Is this the-"

"Kiri Hunter Nin...yes. Fox, it may not look like much, but believe me, they can take on the full 180 from the beginning with only 15...they are highly skilled and I'd have serious trouble against a single squad of them on my own. I was just an ANBU...these guys are better than them."

"Wasn't Haku one?"

"Yes. He never completed his training. He entered but they do things differently, you spend a few years as an 'apprentice' of sorts before being a full fledged Hunter Nin."

Naruto nodded "I see. Got a best plan of attack?"

"These guys are deadly, under normal circumstances, I'd say we want the Chunin to flee, the Jonin would need to work as a well oiled machine together...we can't just do that. The best bet would be for me, you, and Hawk to try to take on as many as possible and hopefully get them to target us mainly while everyone else gets whoever remains."

Naruto nodded and signed the plan to everyone else. This was Kiri's elite troops and if Zabuza wasn't confident in taking just one squad on, then the normal shinobi here wouldn't stand a chance. Naruto himself has proven that numbers don't necessarily matter when you're of a weaker force.

He and Hinto noticed 10 them gathering chakra and going through a very long sequence of handsigns. Zabuza's eyes widened as he noticed the sequence. "We need walls now!" Zabuza said

"EARTH WALLS NOW!" Naruto said to the shinobi and everyone who knew the jutsu did the required signs and slammed their hands to the ground forming earth walls, mud walls, and some of the earthstyle users created large earth walls that filled the gaps of where the non earth users were at.

Naruto looked around and copied the different jutsus for a later time. He couldn't use any of the jutsu since none were made for a nontrained earth user. Some elemental jytsu were universal to any shinobi regardless of affinity but the walls being put up required training in earth chakra.

Once all the walls went up, they heard and felt the crashing of the enemy's jutsu against the walls. Some were too weak and broke against the pressure showing a large water dragon that was formed. It was roughly 4 times bigger than what Zabuza used.

Naruto looked over and noticed that the other 20 flanked the sides of the walls. These guys were fast! Immediately weapons flew at the Konoha side getting 10 to die immediately while others were wounded. They were in a predicament, they couldn't drop the earth jutsus otherwise the large water dragons would get them, if they don't then they may get killed by the Hunter Nin.

Naruto immediately shunshined to the left side which was weaker than the right and began to take on the Hunter Ninjas. "Everyone not putting up the wall, fight!" Naruto said as his sharingan glowed brighter as he looked to the Hunter ninja.

"So, the Fox ANBU was the reason they failed earlier...no matter. You'll fall tonight."

Naruto smirked under his mask and blocked a swordstrike with his tri-pronged kunai. When the Hunter ninja applied more force, Naruto let his grip release and as the sword came down, the kunai was flipping in mid air. Before the sword hit Naruto, a flash of black and red was seen and Naruto appeared above the blade and caught his kunai and performed a spinning kick to the Hunter Nin's head but was blocked by another one just barely.

"Huh, I see this won't be so easy..." Naruto thought as he jumped back.

"His use of the Hiraishin no Jutsu is greater than we thought..."

"Perhaps he hadn't perfected it back then..."

"It was still something we expected. Just don't get marked...if you are, you're dead."

Naruto watched as they began to walk around him in a semicircle formation in front of him. They all took out a sword and held it infront of them. He unsheathed the tanto and held the kunai in an ice pick grip with his left hand.

They stood perfectly still awaiting the first move. Naruto wasn't sure of their skills, just that they were above the general ANBU and a squad would be trouble for Zabuza alone. Granted, Zabuza wasn't as powerful as Naruto, not even close, but he was no pushover. You aren't a member of the legendary 7 swordsmen of the mist by being weak. He was trouble for Kakashi, even though Kakashi held back a bit due to the Genin and Tazuna being there, it wasn't by much.

Naruto lowered his stance slightly and shunshined into a strike at the one directly infront of him, it was blocked just barely but the nin was pushed back. Before the others could converge onto him, he performed another shunshin and went to one on the farthest end to the right and managed to cut his arm open.

Everyone jumped back to create space and had to acknowledge that even without the Hiraishin, this ANBU was ridiculously fast and they barely kept up at this point. If Naruto were to kick it up a notch, they would have serious trouble and he managed to slip their defenses already. Even though it wasn't lethal, it would only add up over time and this wouldn't be good long-term.

They charged Naruto and began attacking. Naruto after each block and parry was walking backwards due to their force and unrelenting attacks. Finally having enough of this, he channeled fire chakra to the tanto and lightning into the kunai, with two slashes, the fire and lightning collided a few feet ahead of him resulting in an explosion at the Hunter Ninjas.

The Hunters all jumped back and gave him room to breathe. Naruto threw kunai all around the area when the smoke kicked up and when the smoke cleared the Kiri shinobi all paled at the sight. 10 Narutos stood in front of them and they noticed that 10 kunai lay in the ground, right infront of them. Their blood ran cold as things seemed to be in slow-motion, the mere second that passed felt like an eternity and then there were bright black and red flashes everywhere.

In just a matter of seconds Naruto and the clones reappeared into view and the bodies all dropped with blood gushing out of their throats. Naruto looked over to the other side where Hinto and Zabuza were still fighting but had killed 3 of the Hunter ninja. He began to run over to them but grabbed at his chest and began coughing. He dropped to a knee breathing heavily while coughing and spitting up some blood.

"You need to take it easy, Kit. You just expended a lot of chakra today. Relax."

"I can't Kurama. We're still under attack."

Naruto stood up and still held to his chest. Rather than going to Hinto and Zabuza, he shunshined to the 10 that had performed the large water dragons. When he appeared they stopped concentrating on the jutsus and the water dragons all exploded into water.

They all took out a sword and charged Naruto who began to jump back and dodge the whole time. He took out shuriken and threw them and it made them disperse to create space. He stopped moving and took a few breaths. Naruto stood still and then there was a slight shimmer where he stood before the enemy charged. They all stabbed at the same time but the blades went through stabbing eachother. Their eyes widened as they gasped and all fell dead.

That Naruto faded away and Naruto was breathing heavily with an eye closed. Creating an afterimage clone that lasted that long took the remaining chakra he had and he fell to a knee. He felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned quickly with a kunai in hand to slash the person. It was caught however and he smiled behind the mask before his eyes rolled back and he passed out.

Naruto began waking up and coughed as he did. He grabbed his chest in pain and laid back down. "Easy there, Naruto."

Naruto looked over and saw Kakashi sitting there beside him. "How long was I out?" Naruto said weakly.

"A little over a day. Everyone is out patrolling or training. Hinto is on patrol with Zabuza...I'm sorry about your subordinate..." Kakashi knew what it was like to lose teammates and subordinates, even superiors. It hurts and he wondered how Naruto would handle it. He also wondered how many more he may lose during this war.

"I see. I'm glad that I didn't lose too many over the course of those attacks..."

"Yes. Still having 115 after it was all said and done is commendable. No one would have expected that. After word came that the first attack was of 1500, everyone was surprised thinking it would have been a slaughter for our side. You've done well so far."

Naruto nodded and looked to the roof of the tent that he was in at the moment. It had been a long day that day and was feeling tired. He'd just lost one of his squad and it sucked. There was nothing he could do, not even if he had his full power, there would have been nothing he could do. No one could. That was a crappy feeling and he didn't want to feel it again.

"And things were finally getting better with him...we finally got along." Naruto said quietly

Kakashi's eyes widened as he remembered back to when Obito had died right in front of him. They too finally had just started getting along and working well together. Obito had said that same thing before gifting his Sharingan to Kakashi. This made him place his left hand over his left eye instinctively.

"If you need me, you know I'm there. Get some rest for now." Kakashi stood up and began to leave the tent. Naruto just laid there looking at the roof and closed his eyes.

So what's up? I was finna say something but I've forgotten what it was. Oh well. Sasuki has began working with the Chidori, so that will still happen, the feats Sasuke had accomplished will still be there since gender wouldn't change the ability he had. Naruto will be meeting Jiraya next chapter, I've got so many different ideas for the meeting and am trying to figure out how I want it to play out. Either way, Naruto isn't at all happy about him so...yeah? Haha well that was the first death around Naruto, not a technically important person per se in comparison to like Kakashi...but gotta start somewhere.

Yo I'd love to see that backflip haha. And I've never been a fan of Jiraya's excuses. Kinda bullshit, homeboy had an oath and promise to his student and friend...he failed that and for what? Naruto reminded him of Minato? He had spy network? Bullshit. Kakashi was also pretty bullshit not gonna lie. But hey they're both characters that I like and that is all I don't like. They do hype up Jiraya but don't see much from him. A funny guy but that's all I feel they used him for. The training arc was pretty useless...all he got was a bigger rasengan, thats it? Cmon. With Kakashi he learned...treewalking...eventually created his own rasengan...haha but I do like them still. Just those are some bs excuses man.

As for the next project...still haven't decided but if I go with the one I've been thinking about, I kinda gotta create an entirely new story in a sense since like...the story would be ridiculously different...like the characters would all be different in a way...the cast would be all changed practically. With the other it wouldn't be so bad, but it will be pretty different too. Tough choice man! Maybe write each? Go chapter by chapter based on how it goes? I don't know. Could try doing them all at once with this one being the main one, the other two switching off weekly. So this story would be every week, while the other two would be every two weeks since one week would be one then the next the other. Who knows. We'll see.
