Arriving at the guild hall she went to Makarovs' office and knocked. "Come in," he called. Opening the door, she saw Makarov sitting behind his desk with a pile of papers. Looking up he saw her and smiled. "Lucy, what can I do for you?" he asked. "Master is there no way to bring Laxus back into Fairy Tail?" she asked. He looked at her and shook his head. "Lucy, we have been over this many times. You may have been able to see his good side, but that doesn't excuse the fact of what he has done." She balled her fists and looked at him. "But he has changed. Even though he isn't part of our guild he goes on quests to help out. He left with the Thunder Legion to take a job with them and on the way back I just found out that he helped Gray and Juvia. I want you to give him a second chance," she shouted. "My answer is final. Now I suggest you get ready for the S Class trials. I believe you offered to be her partner."
With that she ran out the door tears glistening in her eyes. She knew why she was acting this way, but it still hurt to be told no. She kept walking until she was outside of Magnolia and headed towards the forest. Mumbling to herself she didn't hear someone come up behind her. "Stubborn old man." "I never thought I would hear you say that." Jumping she turned around to see Laxus. "What are you doing out here?" she asked. "I could ask you the same thing. I come out to the kitchen and you're gone." "Sorry, but don't worry about it," she smiled. He placed a hand on her head and stopped her from walking. "Listen Lucy. No more trying to change the verdict got it. The old geezer made the decision based on the laws of Fairy Tail." "But Laxus…" she began. "He looked at her and lifted her chin up to keep her eyes lined with his. "No Lucy. Do I regret what I have done that yes, but that won't change anything. Maybe one day I will be able to come back, but for now you need to accept that day isn't today. Besides I'm perfectly happy as things are now." Kissing her briefly he smiled a small smile and he walked off causing Lucy to sigh. It didn't matter to her how many times she was told no she felt it was wrong if he had learned his lesson.
Lucy was going to be heading off to Tenrou island shortly but was in the process of saying goodbye to Rose. "See you when you get back Lucy!" Smiling she nodded and hugged Kaori as well. "Be safe Lucy," said Kaori. "I will, and we will see you in three days' time." With that she got on the boat and watched as the rest of the guild waved. Not far behind them she saw Laxus leaning against a building. She knew he was wishing her well. Smiling Lucy walked off to join the rest of her guildmates. She couldn't say why, but she had a horrible feeling about the trials ahead. As Cana and her went ahead in the trials Lucy just kept having a deeper sinking feeling.
Lucy had been right and was sitting on the ground being bandaged up by Erza after defeating Grimoire Heart. As they sat there Laxus was pulling at Lisannas cheeks making her laugh. He looked over at her and stood up. Walking over he knelt down. "So how is your arm?" he asked. "It'll be fine after a tiny bit of rest," she said smiling. Tucking a loose strand of hair behind her he leaned forward to kiss her when they heard the most bone chilling sound. Looking on they saw a dragon and heard Gildarts mention Aconologia. Makarov used his giant magic to expand himself and protect his children. "Get to the ship all of you," he shouted. He grabbed on to Aconologia and fought to keep him back. Lucy looked on in horror as saw Laxus' distress and ran over to him. As she touched his arm her guildmates shouted words of support and willingness to stay. Makarov turned and glared at them."Will you lot honor my final wish and get out of here!" Gasps were heard and Laxus took Lucys' hand as he looked away squeezing his eyes shut before looking back at his grandfather while Natsu was being hot headed as usual. He released Lucy and grabbed Natsus' scarf to drag him along. "Not today kid." "Let Go! Laxus!" Natsu shouted ready to say something else when Lucy smacked him and pointed for him to look. His eyes widened as he saw the tears falling from Laxus. Realizing he was going to lose his grandfather Natsu shut up. The rest of the guild followed suit and Makarov smiled as he knew his children would live.
Fighting Aconologia he fought to protect his children. Being knocked to the ground he was at peace knowing they would be safe. Closing his eyes, he was surprised to hear footsteps running towards them. Opening them in time he saw Natsu jump onto the dragon. "We aren't leaving until we get gramps back!" he shouted. "Natsu you idiot!" shouted Makarov as Aconologia smashed him into a wall. Reverting back into his small form he saw Erza stand in front of him. "Erza not you too," he said. "I was down with the plan to evacuate. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there willing to leave someone behind, but not your guild," said Laxus. "Now Attack!" shouted Erza. Everyone attacked together as Makarovs' eyes started to tear up. He suddenly looked over at Laxus as he saw the electricity and heard him roaring.
"Alright you guys. Let's hit this overgrown lizard with everything we got. If you let loose on him and I blast him with a million watts of lightening he'll learn never to mess with Fairy Tail ever again!" "Laxus!" shouted the Thunder Legion. Everyone nodded in agreement. Natsu turned towards the yellow light. "You better get out of the way Natsu because here it comes!" Freaking out Natsu tried to talk, but Erza spoke over him. "Raging Bolt!" he shouted.
"Heavens Wheel!"
"Super Freeze Arrow!"
"Water Nebula!"
"Solid Script Fire!"
"Evil Explosion!"
Lucy summoned Sagittarius and as she shouted another attack came to mind. "Thundering Arrow Bolt!" she shouted. The spells all combined together and the ball of energy enveloped Aconologia. The dragon slayers were next up and used their roars. As they realized the dragon was too strong for them, they used the only magic they could think of protection magic. Grabbing hands, they focused all the magic they had on Levy and Freed. When the blast of the dragon hit everything went dark. The last thoughts were on everyone and their family back home.
