Eddie
A couple of days have passed and I was enjoying my time with Cody. He was very sweet. He was like the big brother I never had. He taught me so many things. We both played some basket ball in a safe courtyard behind his apartment, and we both went out to walk incognito. We did so many things together and for a while, I forgot all about what was going on. No Heart has not been around for a these days and I was very happy.
The days then turned into weeks and slowly, little by little, Cody and I were now brothers in a way. He was never cruel to me. He always respected my space, always gave me hugs when ever I cried, and he would make the best lunches. And for a while... I'm ashamed to even say it... I totally forgot all about Bellon. I did think of him now and then, but... I was so selfish. Cody was the one who brought him up a few times.
He would ask me questions like where we could search, or where could Bellon be in the street. I told him he could take care of himself, but Cody would lecture me. In fact, it was Cody who went out to search for Bellon, and sometimes he would return sadly home. I know I said I was happy, but to be honest... this was probably one of my low points in my life. To this day, I never forgave myself for this. I wanted Cody for myself. And only for me. I would always do things to get his attention.
"Eddie, I'm afraid I had no luck tonight?" said Cody as he walked in. When he saw me in bed, he simply rolled his eyes, but chuckled.
"What are you up to now?" he asked.
"I'm just being lazy." I said.
"Is that supposed to impress me? Eddie, please get out of your bed and start doing some chores around here. At least until I find your brother." said Cody.
Cody took off his coat, but put on a new sweater. It looked like a winter sweater, but it was brown and it had a light brown stripe on it for decoration.
"This world. It's truly polluted by him. I should have seen this coming." said Cody to himself.
"What?" I asked.
Cody shook his head. "This town is very disturbing. There is so much bad stuff going on."
He then began to sob. I was taken aback by Cody's emotions.
"What's wrong Cody?" I asked as Cody began to sob.
"I wish I can do something to stop the evil in this horrible city." he said sadly.
"Tell me what's wrong Cody! Your scaring me." I pleaded as I hugged Cody tightly.
"I killed someone a long time ago. Not intentionally, but I did. I ran away from home, and I hid like a coward. Ever since, the Dark Impulse has been on my side, looking at me and laughing at me with every chance it gets." said Cody.
"You mean No Heart. He's watching you too?" I asked.
"Perhaps. He knows what I can do and what I am capable of." said Cody.
"But you killed one person by accident. Why does he have an interest in you?" I asked.
"The Dark Impulse seeks those that have sinned. My hands are covered in blood Eddie." said Cody.
I held his hands together and kissed them.
"We all are sinners." i said.
"But Eddie, let me ask you this? Have you ever done anything that made your gut hurl? Anything that bothered your concience and heart?" asked Cody.
I didn't know what to answer. I was stuck. I never came up with a clear answer. I asked myself the same questions over and over again in my mind.
"No answer? Oh Eddie, I'm sorry. Your way too young for this sort of thing. It makes my heart ill seeing people go through so much. I can't believe I left so soon." said Cody.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
Cody stood up and smiled. "Eddie. I love you. But the love I share is a safe and warm kind of love. The love that a family would share. The love of a father. A mother. A brother. That is the only love I can share. I'm sorry, but I have been gone for too long." Cody then smiled and in an instant, light appeared from his body.
I stood back and there, standing on the bed was a large brown bear with a heart shaped symbol on it's stomach.
"Your a Care Bear?!" I cried.
"I am child. I am Tender Heart. I have been gone for too long, it is time for me to set out and destroy the Dark Impule's influence once and for all." said Tender Heart Bear.
Just then, a dark and sinister voice appeared. "Not if I can help it."
No Heart appeared and grabbed Tender Heart from his neck. I screamed and fell backward.
"Tender Heart. I thought you died. I was hoping you had commited suicide or something. And yet, here you are, alive and well." said No Heart.
"There is nothing you can do No Heart. Like you, I too have found a successor. One that would put an end to the Dark Impulse and free the city from your control!" growled Tender Heart.
"Oh, so you found someone to take on the mantle of Tender Heart Bear? What are you going to do? Give him a bear costume? I can imagine a furry running around giving hugs to people. The idea is both adorable, and sick! I would rather puke." said No Heart.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" I cried as I grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed No Heart.
Tender Heart gasped as blood oozed from No Heart's cape. But the monster did not faint nor budge.
"You forgot boy. I'm a wizard. Stabs and shots won't take me down." said No Heart.
"Run boy! Run!" cried Tender Heart.
No Heart squeezed Tender Heart's neck tighter.
"SILENCE! After I kill you, the other Care Bears will back down seeing their fearless leader has been killed and to top it all off, in his own hiding place!" cried No Heart.
"No Heart! Let him go! Please I beg of you!" I cried.
"Again Eddie? How pathetic have you become. A few minutes ago, you wanted to FUCK his human body like a sex toy, and when you found out he was a Care Bear, you backed away and now you want to play Hero? Change does not happen overnight boy!" cried No Heart.
I was about to say something else, until No Heart continued.
"No. You don't get to speak! You have been given the chance to find your little brother Bellon, who has been out there looking for you in the dangerous city! He was almost shot at by gangsters, battled an evil spirit book, and was nearly killed by a boy with a powerful dark impulse inside him! He's dying out there, and where are you? Here in this comfortable lounge with all the freedom in the world, while you have someone go out to find your brother, only to return empty handed. Eddie, the one who is truly at fault here is you! Do you now see. You have dark impulse all over you! And you will be my successor, and you will continue the legacy."
No Heart's words shot me like a bullet from a gun. He was telling the truth. I was no better than him. I was a despicable human being.
"He's human No Heart. Only a boy. Humans... they are imperfect No Heart. Because of what happened at the Garden of Eden, they all suffer the hands of sin. You have no right to tell him right from wrong. You are an agent of the dark and you serve evil." said Tender Heart.
No Heart tightened his grip and Tender Heart was struggling to breathe. "I was human too. I too was imperfect. But I became this. You want to know why I chose to be No Heart? So I can have all the power in the world and punish the world. You included. You filthy little teddy bears were so limited... you all failed to save the light in children's hearts. Oh how they mighty have fallen bear." said No Heart.
"Let the lad go." whispered Tender Heart.
"First, I need you to see the type of boy he is. Eddie, bow to me and I will let Tender Heart live." said No Heart.
"Don't do it! If you do... you'll be no better than him." said Tender Heart.
No Heart spoke quickly. "If you run, I'll kill the bear, and you will be responsible for the extinction of the Care Bears!" cried No Heart.
I stood up. "Let him go, and take me. I'll be your No Heart. Just... let him go." I cried.
No Heart released his grip and Tender Heart fell on the floor gasping for air. No Heart then walked towards me and placed his cold hand on my head.
He then whispered some words and in that instant, I felt my veins were about to pop. I felt my adreneline go very fast and I looked up as No Heart passed his power to me.
"On this very day, a new son of the Dark Impulse was born. One born of malice, capricious heart, and sin. You are the next harbinger of death and a servant of the new dark order of my own design. Welcome to the world, heir to the dark throne... No Heart."
Tender Heart began to sob and hit the floor with his fist. "No... you can't do this to him... you monster..." cried Tender Heart.
No Heart walked up towards him and kicked him with his foot.
"Stop!" I cried.
"Young No Heart, you mustn't speak against me. You chose this, you got this. Come my young apprentice. We will begin training on the dark arts immediately." said No Heart. As I followed No Heart like the stupid pitiful lap dog I became, No Heart turned to Tender Heart Bear.
"There is no hope for the world now Tender Heart bear. Whoever your successor is... he won't be a match against two No Hearts." said No Heart as we both vanished into a portal.
"You won't run away this time kid. You will do what I command." sneered No Heart as we went into the dark corridors.
