(Meanwhile at the McFly residence in Hilldale, Lorraine rings the door bell bringing home a box of pizza from Pizza Hut)

Marlene: Grandma Lorraine!

Lorraine: Sweetheart!

Both: Hi!

Lorraine: Are your folks home yet? I brought pizza for everyone!

Marlene: But won't that be enough for all 5 of us?

Lorraine: Of course it will sweetie.

Marlene: Ok. Dad should be home in any minute, you never know when mom's coming home these days, and Jr. should be arriving at any moment now.

Lorraine: I can't believe this window is still broken.

Marlene: When the scene screen repair man called dad a chicken, daddy threw him out of the house and now we can't get anybody to fix it.

Lorraine: Oh look how worn out this is. Your father's biggest problem Marlene is that he losses all self-control whenever somebody calls him a chicken.

Marlene: I know and yet he still can't get over this problem that he's had since he was a child. It's only caused our family to be more depressed.

Lorraine: The worst chicken dare he made in his life was him doing a drag race and ended up in an automobile accident around 28 years ago.

Marlene: Yeah I know you, mom, and dad have told us the story a million times. He raced Douglas J. Needles to prove he wasn't chicken and ended up crashing into a police car in which it killed the police officer in it.

Lorraine: Exactly. It caused a chain reaction that sent your dad's life straight down the tubes. If not for that accident, your lives would've turned out very different. The police department wouldn't have forced your dad to pay a fine, your dad wouldn't have broken his hand nor gave up on his music. And he wouldn't have spent all those years feeling sorry for himself. I think the reason your mother married your father was because he felt sorry for him such a sweet girl. She deserves credit.

Marlene: Dad already gave up on music before the accident happened. Tried doing light rock and being just a local musician but that didn't work out either after the accident. And mom would be better today if she hadn't injured her head in the accident and hadn't dropped out of college. I think her marrying dad because she felt sorry for him caused more problems in the marriage. You married grandpa George because you felt sorry for him and that only led to marriage problems and a divorce. Of course our family life got a lot worse after you and grandpa George divorced. If only it weren't for grandpa's wimpiness.

Lorraine: You're right Marlene.

Marty Sr.: Hey hey hey! Dad's home! That's right! He's home he's home! Hello Hello! Hello? Is that my mom? Is that my mom?

Lorraine: Marty! (kisses him on the cheek) How's work?

Marty Sr.: You know the usual. But that promotion to project manager is what I feel coming. Anyways I'm starving let's eat! Come on son time to eat.

Marty Jr.: Dad I'm watching this awesome program.

Marty Sr.: Mr. we eat at the dinner table when your grandparents are here. Now get to the table.

Marty Jr.: (sighs) Fine dad.

Marty Sr.: Yeah you kids these days.
