Chapter 9: Here's Something New

Rin's POV
"Rin...Rin..." A voice called to me.

It seemed vaguely familiar, but at the same time, I knew I had never heard the voice before. Who, or what, could it be?

"Yeah? What?" I said as I looked around a completely white void, empty of life.

"Rin." Someone said. I saw a long, blue boot form out of nowhere, and black jeans followed.

Whoever was talking to me was being formed right in front of me.

I watched as a white ruffled shirt and a long, red, open trenchcoat with golden trim was formed in front of me.

Next was the face. The character had an eyepatch over his right eye and was wearing a black pirate hat.

The left eye was a blue eye and the hair was blonde, but...it looked like it was pulled back in a ponytail, but somewhat long.

And then I noticed the hook on the left hand.

Wait.

Blue eyes?

Blonde hair?

Blonde hair in a ponytail?

Was that Len?

No...it couldn't be.

But there was only one way to know. I had to ask him.

"Len?" I asked as I flew over to the pirate. The pirate nodded.

"Of course it's me, Rin." He said.

I knew it! But that didn't mean I wasn't a little shocked.

"But what happened!? How did it happen!?" I said.

Wait, what? I should already know how Len became Captain Hook. I run this place, for Pete's sake!

"Calm down and shut up, Rin. Actually, I should be thanking you. I like this new me." Len said as he observed himself.

I'm sorry, did he just say he likes himself? But he didn't even want to be an adult! That's why I took him to Neverland in the first place, and he even wanted to come!

So I'll admit it.

I got a little frustrated when he said he liked himself.

"Did I hear you correctly? Did you just say you like yourself?" I asked.

"Yes, you heard me right." Len said calmly.

"B-But you said you didn't even want to become an adult! That's why you're here in the first place!" I said.

I knew it was just a dream, but dang, why was I so bent over this one boy?

When I think about it now, I realized I cared about him more than the other Peter Pan's I had, and for some strange reason, Len just spoke to me.

I think I saw myself in him.

Seeing myself in someone else, let alone a boy? Crazy, right?

I sighed.

"Len, don't make this choice! You remind me of myself!" I said.

Len just shrugged.

"Too bad, Rin."

"Can't you stay as Peter Pan for a little while longer?" I asked.

Len shook his head.

"No way. I've already made up my mind, and not you or anyone else is gonna change that."

A tiny bit of frustration returned when he said that.

"And besides, being Captain Hook is actually kinda fun. It's different." Len said.

Okay, that's it!

I knew I was tiny, but I could at least try to fight him. I flew at him with a raised fist, but as I suspected, Len just leaned to the side.

When I flew at him again, Len simply flicked me away.

"Ow!" I said as I held my hands to my forehead, "Care to be more careful next time?" I asked.

Len yawned.

"It's pretty tough to be careful when you're so tiny." Len said.

"Then maybe I can make myself bigger for this dream!" I said as I snapped my fingers, but nothing happened.

When I clapped my hands, I became human sized. Not as tall as Len, but not a pixie anymore.

Although I still had my outfit on and most likely had my powers as well.

Just like earlier, I ran at Len with a fist pulled back and managed to graze his shoulder, but then he yanked on my wrist and pulled me forward and behind him.

I wasn't expecting it at all, so I ended up falling onto the floor. I turned around on my back, but before I could get up or do anything, Len placed his boot on my stomach and kept it in place, preventing me from getting up.

Len leaned forward as he placed an arm over his right leg, which happened to me the same one wearing the boot that was keeping me in place.

Of course I had my hands on it and tried to get it off, but I just couldn't move it no matter what I did.

"You know, Rin, you're not that girly, are you?" Len asked.

"Not really, no, although I guess I was more happy than anything when I was guiding you around Neverland." I said.

"That's what I think too." Len said as he finally lifted his boot off me.

I scrambled to get up, but as soon as I did, Len had socked me in the face.

"You can't stop me, Rin. I'll destroy Neverland." Len said.

"Then I'll just fix everything!" I said as I tried to kick him in the gut, and he finally took one of my attacks.

He fell down and just sat there.

"Rin, Rin, Rin...has it ever occurred to you that you should wake up?" Len said as he finally stood up.

"Huh?"

"Wake up. That boy you knew is gone." He said.

I immediately woke up and looked around. I had been sleeping next to Len's pillow in his room which was also the house of the lost boys.

It had been a few minutes and I realized I hadn't checked on Len yet. Where was he?

Shouldn't he be out of that ship by now?

And if he's not, that can only mean one thing.

My dream was a premonition.

I jumped up from the bed and was about to fly out of the ship, but when I was almost out, Piko stopped me.

"Where are you going, Rin?" He asked.

"I'm gonna go check on Len!" I said.

Piko chuckled.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

"It's just that he's been gone for fifteen minutes now and you were asleep during that time, too. Can I come with you?" He asked.

"Thanks but no thanks. You'll be safer here." I said as I finally flew out of the camouflaged tree.

I flew away from that tree and made my way towards the Indian camp, where MEIKO stopped me.

"Rin, what's wrong? You're flying extremely fast." MEIKO said.

"It's Len." I said.

MEIKO'S eyes widened.

"Is he okay?!"

"That's what I'm gonna go check." I said as I turned away and flew off.

I started flying across the mermaid lagoon after that. Again, someone tried to talk to me.

"Hey Rin, where are you flying to?" Said a voice that sounded like Luka.

"CAN'T TALK GOTTA GO BYE!" I said as quickly as I could.
****************
It was at least five or so minutes later and I had reached the ship already. The ship looked completely empty.

I flew around the ship and noticed a glass window that would show the inside of Captain Hook's room. It was actually behind the ship.

As soon as I looked in, I saw Len reading a book. It looked like he had just started it.

But that wasn't all.

He was the new Captain Hook now.

I gave him one last glance. I began to turn away.

Was I going to do something about this?

Absolutely.

Was I going to fight him?

Of course not. I'm a tiny pixie, so of course I wouldn't be able to do anything to him.

Except sprinkle my pixie dust over him and make him fly.

But anyway, once I had turned away, I started flying out of Neverland. Before I knew it, it looked like I was in a city. I started flying around.

What was I looking for?

Any kid who didn't want to grow up.

But this time, a Wendy Darling was needed as well.

As I was flying around, I heard a few voices from a house somewhere below me. The windows of the room I had flown to were slightly open.

Those windows reminded me of the windows Len had back when I first met him.

I flew towards the window, but made sure to keep myself out of sight as I listened in on the conversation.

"Big sis just said we have to stop talking so much and grow up!" Said the voice of what sounded like a boy. He sounded angry, but more on the verge of being angry.

I heard what sounded like the chuckle of a girl. I peeked through the glassy, slightly parted windows to see what was going on.

There were two kids on top of their beds. One of them was a girl and the other one was a boy. Both of them had teal hair, but the boy's hair was short. The girl's hair was much, much longer, but it looked wavy, so I'm going to guess that she had her hair up before getting in bed.

The boy was wearing white pijama's with vertical blue stripes and had pants to match. The girl was wearing a somewhat short, white nightgown with poofy sleeves and some horizontal teal stripes here and there.

"I don't want to grow up either, Mikuo, but sooner or later we're going to have to." The girl said.

"Yeah, but being a kid is much more appealing, Miku." Mikuo said.

"I definitely get you, brother." Miku said.

Mikuo got under his covers and Miku did the same. However, around ten minutes later, I noticed that Mikuo was already asleep but Miku was having trouble sleeping.

Now's my chance!

I flew into the room and flew towards Miku.

"So you don't want to grow up?" I asked as I floated in place above her.

She opened her eyes, and, surprisingly, she didn't scream, but looked surprised instead.

"Not right now." She said.

It was strange to me that I was currently talking to someone who wasn't even timorous of me, but I rolled with it.

"Wait, are you a pixie?" Miku asked as she sat up in bed and stared at me.

"Yup, and I'm here to take you to Neverland!" I said as I held onto her finger.

"What about Mikuo?" Miku asked as she looked at her brother.

"He'll be with you soon. Don't worry." I said.

I was gonna leave him behind for now, but not for forever.

"Alright." I said as Miku walked towards the window. I began to dance over her. Miku began to float after about a minute.

"This does not seem right." Miku said.

"Trust me. You'll be fine." I said as I started flying out of Miku and Mikuo's window.

Miku was reluctant, but flew after me after a few seconds.

"...Alright. I am coming with you." She said.

"Let's go!" I said as I started leading her to Neverland.

"Oh, Miku, do you think you'll have to fight for your survival?" I asked.

"What? I only fight when I think I should." Miku said.

"Same, although sometimes I fight for the fun of it. But I don't for the most part." I responded. We were out of her city by now.

Miku didn't respond.

Well, Len, I hope you're ready for what's about to happen next!
