Chapter 10: Kidnapped!
"Yumi, are you sure you shouldn't stay home today?" Marina asked, a bit worried. "The challenge today is going to be a long one."
"I'm sure," said Agent 3. "Plus, Saki is safe with 8."
"Oh, I know, but I was just thinking about you, hon," said the singer. "I know the challenges have been stressing you out lately."
"Yeah," the Inkling said before perking up. "Don't worry, Marina. Everything will be fine."
"She's right," said 4, checking to make sure his gun was ready. "Now let's go win that challenge."
"Keep sharp now," said Cuttlefish as they approached. "I'll be keeping watch to make sure the rules are followed."
"Alright," said 3, holding up her gun, eager to start.
While the challenge was going on, Agent 8 was babysitting Saki. "Look at you go, sweetie," she said, seeing the baby crawling towards her. "Won't be long before you'll be walking."
The baby gave a happy squeal as she made it over to her aunt, sitting up and holding up her arms to her, to which the red Octoling picked her up, nuzzling her nose gently against the baby's nose, making Saki giggle. "Who's a sweet baby?" The Octoling cooed, smiling as the baby giggled again.
All was good for a bit until 8 went to put Saki down for a nap. The baby was having a hard time falling asleep and seemed to be glancing around. "What is it, honey?" The Octoling asked. "What's bugging you?"
Just then, as she put the baby down in the crib, she was grabbed from behind and she screamed in shock as she felt her arms tied behind her back too fast for her to react and something was jabbed into her arm. She looked to see it was a needle and she heard a dark chuckle. "That will keep you from transforming," said an all-too-familiar voice.
8 froze when she heard him. "Octavio," she said in horror.
"Ah, ah, ah. King DJ Octavio," he corrected her, turning her to face him.
The girl grimaced at seeing the one that she was once under long ago. His red-violet coloring looked a bit darker while his gold helmet shined on his head, his green eyes glaring at her. "I could have given you so much, 8, and yet you betrayed me," he said, tightening his tentacles on her.
She winced. "You betrayed your kind!" She yelled. "Captain Cuttlefish saved me from the spell I was under!"
Octavio narrowed his eyes, seeming to look into her eyes before he did something she didn't expect. He kissed her harshly on the mouth.
Squealing in shock, she tried to pull away, but he forced her head to be still as he continued kissing her before pulling away. As soon as he did and let her head go, 8 turned her head to the side and spat in disgust, coughing as the villain's kiss left a bad taste in her mouth. "Hmm, you really are not under the spell if you don't swoon from my kiss," he said with a growl. "Too bad. You would have made a rather fine bride."
She kicked her legs at him. "Let go!" She demanded.
Saki, seeing this giant octopus, grew afraid and began crying, catching the octopus' attention. "Well, well, what's this?" He asked, reaching a tentacle towards the baby.
"Leave her alone!" 8 screamed out, trying to reach her weapon, but was having a hard time with it.
Octavio looked at the baby. "Who's baby is this, my little pet?" He asked.
The red Octoling glared at him. "Don't you dare touch her!" She yelled.
He chuckled. "Oh, I get it," he said, squeezing her again and making her grunt. "It's that Inkling's child, isn't it?" He sneered. "I thought my scout was being stupid when he said he saw a human baby and that Inkling adopting her."
Now 8 felt afraid and wished Saki was able to walk so that she could run. She then got an idea and her courage grew. "Then you know if you hurt her, then her mother and the others will be on you faster than an ant on a cookie!" She said. "So you better leave now!"
"Oh, I will," said Octavio. "And you can give those Inkling brats a message for me."
He pulled her closer and kissed her roughly again, making her cry out in disgust again before he bit her neck, making her scream as she felt her head start to feel woozy. "If that Inkling wants her brat to live, she'll do what I say and convince Cuttlefish to turn this whole world over to me," he said. "Remember that message well, my dear."
8 felt her limbs go limp as Saki cried harder when the villain took her into his tentacles. "No...Saki," she groaned out before seeing Octavio flee with the baby right before the Octoling lost conscious.
At the tournament, the Octolings suddenly stopped firing and ran away. "Come on!" Said one. "Our work's done!"
Marina blinked and looked at Cuttlefish. "Since when do they suddenly up and quit?" She asked.
"They don't," he said, getting a bad feeling. "Something's not right."
Agent 4 and 3 were equally stunned. "That's never happened before," said the yellow Inkling. "What do you think, Yumi?"
"I don't know," she admitted before suddenly getting a very bad feeling. "I need to get home. Now."
They saw Marina and Cuttlefish come up. "Something's not right," said the singer.
"Yumi!" A voice cried out and they saw Pearl come running up. "I can't reach 8!"
That only made the mother feel more worried. "Something's wrong," she said and she began running for home with the others following. When they arrived, they found the door had been forced open. "8! Saki!" The Inkling cried out.
A groan answered them and they ran in. Agent 4 spotted the red Octoling first. "8!" He said, running up to her supine form on the floor as she groaned again and opened her eyes, but they looked cloudy. "8, what happened? Where's Saki?" He asked.
Agent 3 and Marina tore through the place. "She's not here," said the singer worriedly.
Pearl was helping 4 attend to 8 while Cuttlefish gave her a shot in the arm to counter whatever she had been given. The red Octoling gasped in shock. "Octavio! No!" She cried out before looking around and seeing her friends. "Guys! Octavio! He was here! He's got Saki!"
The green Inkling felt her whole world collapse as she heard those words and she nearly fell over, but thankfully Pearl caught her and helped her sit down. 4 held 8 in a hug as she cried, upset. "I'm sorry," she whimpered out. "I tried to stop him, but he gave me something that weakened me."
"Did he hurt you other than that?" The yellow Inkling asked.
The red Octoling nodded. "He kissed me twice," she said, shuddering. "Ugh. I need some strong mouthwash."
Pearl gasped as she saw the bite mark on 8's shoulder. "He injected her!" She cried out.
4 took a closer look. "No, he didn't," he said. "It just looks like he did, but it didn't break the skin."
Agent 3 felt fury fill her, but not at 8. She knew her friend wouldn't have just let Octavio take the baby. "8, did he surprise you?" She asked.
The red Octoling looked down in shame. "Yes," she said. "I was trying to get Saki to settle down for a nap, but she wouldn't settle down. When I set her in her crib, that's when Octavio grabbed me." She looked up at her friend. "I'm so sorry, Yumi. I couldn't do anything. He had me tied up and then he bit my shoulder and I felt myself passing out."
"It's not your fault, 8," Cuttlefish said comfortingly.
"Did Octavio say anything?" Marina asked.
8 nodded. "He said that if Yumi wanted to see Saki alive again, she would do what he said and convince the Captain to turn the whole world over to Octavio," she said.
"That's not going to happen," Agent 4 said fiercely. "Octavio just messed with the wrong family."
"You got that right," said 3, holding her gun tightly. "He's going to learn the meaning of 'mama bear'."
"Let's help 8 get back to feeling better and then we'll come up with a plan," said Marina.
"Good idea," said Pearl, though she was worried about her niece. She then hugged 3. "We'll get her back, Yumi. I promise."
The Inkling nodded before looking up. Hold tight, Saki. Mommy's coming, she thought to herself.
No one took her baby and escaped her wrath.
