Draco spotted the snitch as he turned his attention back to the game. "Potter!." He yelled, jerking his head toward the glittering gold ball. Potter dove after the tiny fluttering ball, weaving in and out of the other players. Draco noticed that the other seeker was right on his tail, trying to brush him off his broom.
"Pardon me," he smirked as he dropped in next to Potter. "Get it done." Potter nodded at him and refocused on the task at hand. They moved in sync, as they always did, in pursuit of the snitch. It dove toward the ground and they followed. Potter snatched it out of the sky and they pulled up to hover just above the grass.
"Thanks mate!" Potter called out.
"Anytime! Let's go find the girls." Draco nodded and directed his broom toward the entrance to the locker room. He and Potter landed lightly. "Great win once again." he clapped his teammates on the shoulder one by one.
"It's like you had extra incentive to score tonight." George teased. "I mean, I would too if I finally landed the girl of my dreams after what? Two decades?"
"Oh leave him be Georgie." Angelina laughed lightly, kissing George on the nose. "Hey Gin, how's my nephew?" she said, turning to greet the rest of their friends.
"Hey Ang. He's doing good." She grinned, rubbing her belly. "James is with Mum. He really enjoys his sleepovers at Gramma's house."
"Ach! I didn't make it in time." Theo interrupted them, glaring at a group of girls surrounding Blaise, begging for autographs. "Pardon me. I need to go claim what's mine." he grinned as he made a beeline for the groupies. He tapped the first one on the shoulder, fully expecting her to give way.
"Wait your turn like the rest of us." she snarled at him, without even looking. Goodnaturedly, he circled the pack, stalking the handsome man at its center. Finding another point of entry, he slipped through the first layer of women vying for attention.
"'Scuse me," he said loudly. "Sorry to burst your bubble ladies," he grinned as he slipped through the last few bodies between him and his lover. "This one's mine." he hauled Blaise over his shoulder and carted him off to the locker room.
"Not again." Draco groaned loudly. "I wanted a shower after I saw Hermione."
"Hey, where is Hermione?" Harry asked suddenly.
"She must have gotten separated." Ginny shrugged. "She'll be down soon I'm sure."
"I'm going to look for her," Draco said seriously, tossing his broom to George. He stalked through the crowds, looking for a head of bushy curls. It didn't take him long to spot her surrounded by several of his self proclaimed "super fans". He rolled his eyes as he approached them.
"I know him. He just loves his fans, especially me. I have so many autographs. He always pays more attention to me than any of the others." He rolled his eyes at the girl's declarations. He'd never given her any more attention than the rest of the team had.
"You know him?" Hermione asked. "What's his favorite color? How does he take his tea?"
"Green of course. Tea? Probably with sugar." Why did everyone assume his favorite color was green? Just because he was Slytherin didn't mean he liked green or snakes.
"Wrong, his favorite color is purple. He doesn't drink tea often, and when he does it's with honey, not sugar. What kind of pizza is his favorite?"
"Draco would never eat muggle food!" The girl exclaimed. Perhaps that might have been true a decade ago, but being friends with Potter and his gang had introduced him to the wonders of the muggle world and he loved their food.
"He loves muggle food, particularly pizza. He loves pepperoni pizza. What's his favorite pastime?" Hermione corrected.
"That's a stupid question. It's quidditch."
"Wrong. It's kissing Hermione. I've entertained you long enough. Just as I've told you every game that you've ever attended, I am spoken for." The girl huffed at them once again before spinning on her heels and disappearing, taking her lackeys with her.
"I'm sorry. I should have ignored her. She made me angry." Hermione said quietly, finally turning to face him.
"You have every right to defend yourself. Though it was nice to hear you defend my honor so vehemently. I didn't realize you knew so much about me." he smirked and swept her into his arms.
"We've been friends for nearly a decade, Draco." Hermione quipped. "And you smell." she wrinkled her nose.
"Let's get back to the locker room and I'll shower, provided Blaise and Theo are gone." he grinned. "Smelly or not, I'm not going in there if they're in there." he wrinkled his nose. "There's only so much of your best friend's arse you want to see." He'd made that mistake early on in their relationship. He'd entered the locker room assuming they'd at least be in the shower together but no, they hadn't made it further than the bench in the middle of the room. He'd walked in on them in a very compromising position. After that incident, he'd even asked Potter to obvliate him to get the image out of his mind. He'd been turned down of course and was forced to suffer.
"I don't even want to know." Hermione shook her head. "I've heard more than I want to about their relationship today." she grimaced.
"Theo's filter is broken. He has no shame, no shame at all." Draco laughed. "Come on little witch. Let's get back to the rest of the gang." He offered her his arm and led her back to the rest of their friends waiting outside the locker room.
