Chapter 12: Aftermath

Silverpaw woke up to the blinding light of the sun. He snuggled closer to Nightmist's warm and smooth pelt. He started to pur. After a bit, Nightmist woke up. She yawned.

"Goodmornigh Silverstripe." She meowed tiredly.

"Morning." Meowed Silverstripe. Nightmist stretched and got to her feet. Silverstripe did the same.

"We should get home before someone comes looking for us." Nightmist meowed.

"I agree. Meet again tonight?" Silverstripe meowed.

"Sure" Nightmist meowed. Silverstripe licked her between the ears and left. He arrived with the mouse he buried. He sat down in the shade by the Warrior's den and ate the mouse. Just as he was about to be done, Splashfur walked up to him.

"Where were you? You didn't come back last night." She meowed.

"Uh. well. I. Um. I was night hunting, but I think I passed out." Silverstripe replied.

"Are you okay?" Splashfur asked.

"Yeah I'm fine. Didn't get attacked." Silverpaw meowed.

"No, I mean the day before the battle you have been acting weird." Silverstripe didn't know what to say. He didn't want to say that he loved Nightmist. So he stayed quiet.

"You don't have to tell me what is going on. I know you like someone. You are a terrible liar." Splashfur meowed. "So, tell me who it is." Silverstripe knew if he lied she would know.

"Nightmist." He meowed.

"Who is that?" Splashfur asked.

"A RiverClan she-cat." Silverstripe felt embarrassed.

"Oh, I know her! We hung out at the Gathering! She is nice and beautiful. I'm not surprised you like her." Splashfur meowed. Silverstripe felt more embarrassment than he had ever felt.

"Can we not talk about this." Silverstripe meowed. Splashfur chuckled and nudged Silverstripe with her paw. She walked away and talked with Whitemist. After Silverstripe was done, He went to the medicine den to check on Breezepaw.

"Gingerpad? Are you there?" Silversripe asked.

"Yeah I'm right here!" She called back. Silverstripe found her where she stores her herbs. "What can I do for you?" She asked.

"I was wondering if I could talk to Breezepaw." Silverstripe meowed.

"Sorry but I just put him on a pain relief herb. It makes him act silly. It is better to let him rest. I can leave a message when he is off the herb." Gingerpad meowed.

"No, that's okay. Thanks though." Silverstripe meowed. As it was getting late in the day, Silverstripe grabbed his afternoon meal and sat down to eat it. He was ready to meet up with Nightmist again.
