11. Would You?

Canon. Added scene for 9x10. Missing moment between Rachel and Donna before Louis' wedding.

"I'm sorry I can't be there, I can't believe I'm missing your first wedding as a couple," Rachel sighs into the phone.

"I don't think it's really a big deal," Donna replies. "We've been to weddings together before."

"But you've never been to a wedding together."

"We're adults Rach, it's not like I'm going to jump him on the limo ride over."

"Never say never," Rachel laughs as a grin breaks out on Donna's face. "Who knows, maybe the next wedding I'll be going to is yours," she adds.

"Ha. Funny," Donna remarks. She adjusts her hair and stares at her navy sleeveless gown in the mirror. She was hesitant when purchasing it, not sure how she felt about a strapless dress but the tiny flowers embroidered on it drew her in. Staring at herself in the mirror, she was glad she decided to purchase it.

"I'm being serious, you two spend practically already live together, I wouldn't be surprised if Harvey has been carrying a ring around."

"Okay, now you're being ridiculous. Do you hear what you just said?" Donna chuckles.

"That did sound a little far-fetched, didn't it?"

"I think that pregnancy is starting to get to you."

"Hey Donna?"

"Yes?"

"Hold off until this little girl here is old enough to be your flower girl, would you?"

"I'm hanging up now," Donna teases.

"Alright alright, I'm done," Rachel concedes, "send me a picture of the dress!"

Donna does as Rachel asks, holding up her phone and snapping a quick photo in the mirror. She catches Harvey walking up behind her as she snaps a second photo and decides to send both to Rachel.

"Who are you talking to?" he mumbles as he leans down and presses a kiss to her cheek.

"Rachel," she nods towards the phone.

"Hey Harvey!" Rachel yells. "Mike says you've been driving him crazy all day."

"Other way around," Harvey states. He gestures towards the untied bow tie half hanging around his neck and Donna leans in to tie it for him.

"I didn't mean to interrupt, I just needed a hand."

"What would you do without me?" she teases, her hands fiddling with the silk fabric at the base of his neck.

"Honestly, I don't know."

He replies in a soft tone, the honesty in his voice causing goosebumps to rise along her arms. She finishes fixing his tie and steps back to straighten it out. She allows her hands to linger on his chest for a moment before they fall to her sides.

"I told Ray we'd be ready in fifteen minutes," he leans towards Donna and whispers.

"Sounds good," she smiles.

"Bye Rachel!" Harvey calls before stealing another kiss and leaving Donna to finish getting ready.

"That first photo," Rachel squeals, "I never thought I'd see the day that you two finally figured it all out."

"You didn't?"

"I think we were all hopeful but you never know if these things are going to work out."

"We?"

"Oh yeah, Mike didn't tell you? We had a running bet. Louis won."

"Louis was betting on my love life?!"

"Louis won the bet about your love life," Rachel clarifies. "We all just wanted to see you two happy."

"It took us some time, but we got here and I wouldn't trade the way we did for anything in the world."

"You wouldn't?"

"Honestly, I wouldn't. I know we had some hard times over the years but those moments are what made us, us. It was like everything that happened between us needed to happen so that we could finally get to where we are now. As awful as some of it was, I really wouldn't change a thing."

"Donna, all kidding aside, if Harvey asked you to marry him, would you say yes?"

"You know, over the past few years I got to this point where I accepted I would never find someone that makes me want to settle down, get married and start a life. But now, being with Harvey, I know the only reason I felt that way was because no one else could measure up to what I had with him, which is absolutely insane because there was nothing romantic going on between us. But the connection we have, the connection we've always had, I've never had that with anyone else Rach. For as long as I can remember I've just felt so at ease around him. For as frustrating and tiring as our friendship over the years has been, I've never had anyone in my life that's made me feel so safe yet so vulnerable."

"Donna..."

"Yes."

"Yes?"

"Yes. I'd say yes."

"Ahhh!"

"Geez, no need to get excited he hasn't actually asked. I'm not even sure he wants to get married, we've never really talked about it. What if he's not the marriage type?"

"Even if he's not, the Harvey I know has never been his usual self when it comes to you Donna. You know you've always been his exception."

"Donna, are you ready?" Harvey's voice echos.

"Coming!" she yells back. "I've got to go Rachel, I'll talk to you later?"

"In person next time," Rachel replies.

"Can't wait. Keep my god child safe and healthy over there."

"Keep an eye on my husband and make sure he doesn't do anything embarrassing at the reception."

"No promises," Donna laughs.

She ends her call with Rachel, touched up her lipstick and heads out to the hall where she finds Harvey waiting for her, his grin massive.

"Why are you smiling at me like that?" she asks.

"You look beautiful."

He walks over to her and catches her off guard with a kiss that she quickly finds herself giving in to. Parting for air, she palms his chest and steps back.

"We're going to be late."

"Who cares," he mumbles, his gaze locked on her lips as he moves in for another kiss. She uses her palm to keep him back and watches as his lip folds into a pout.

"You're the best man. You can't be late."

"I hate when you're right," he whines.

"I'm always right," she points out.

"What did Rachel want?" he asks as she steps into her heels.

"She just called to say that she's excited to see us. And she told me to keep an eye on Mike and his god awful dancing."

"There's no saving anyone from that," he smirks.

"That's exactly why I told her you'd keep an eye on him," she smiles.

He watches as the smile creeps on to her face and shakes his head. It still amazed him that after all this time, something as simple as her smile could make him feel this way.

"Ready?"

"I forgot something, I'll meet you at the elevator?"

"Alright," she says.

Harvey heads back to his room and rummages through his sock drawer until he finds the small box he was looking for. He'd been trying to find the perfect way to ask Donna to marry him since receiving his mom's ring. It had just dawned on him that he didn't want to wait much longer.

He tucks it into his jacket pocket, just in case.
