Chapter 9
Disclaimer: I don't own digimon or anything related to it. I do own some of the OCs that will appear later on and also some of the digimon designs. I intend to use all ten legendary spirits and have created designs for four extra spirits.
Note: Sorry for being late. I am not a very by the schedule person.
As far as ships go, I like to keep things canon. So the ships will remain as it is hinted in show.
Just as a reminder, I am taking some concepts from Tri.
Beep- Beep
His hand reached out of the bed covers toward that annoying device. He was so used to do it by no that his palm fell right on top of the alarm button.
"Taichi, wake up,"
Taichi groaned as the childish voice pierced his sleep. He could feel a weight bouncing on his body. Oh yeah, Koromon was here, and something happened yesterday. What was it? "I can't, Koromon,"
"What's wrong? Are you sick?"
Honestly, waking up right now was the last thing Taichi wanted to do. He wasn't a lazy person, but he felt like he was thrashed around many times last night, "I...a...fin...Koromon...jus...le...me...slee...I...a...tir...ed, hmm!"
"But your mother asked me to wake you up."
Hikari knocked on the door, "Taichi! Are you up already."
"He says he wants to sleep," Koromon replied from the other side of the door.
She opened the door and entered the ark room, "Time to wake up Taichi."
"I...don...wan...t," Taichi mumbled.
"Do you think he is sick?" Koromon asked.
Hikari sighed. Taichi must be exhausted both physically and mentally. Hikari would have left him sleeping after a day like yesterday if they didn't have some important stuff to do, "Don't worry. He isn't sick," She pulled the curtains aside, and the cool breeze and bright light came pouring into the room.
Taichi had covered his head with the blanket, "Time to wake up," She said, pulling the covers.
"I...nee...to...slee,"
"We have things to do," Hikari was getting a bit frustrated. Taichi wouldn't let go. She pulled with all her might, and they moved, "Now that's more like...huh!" The bed was empty, "Taichi!"
"Wow, Taichi! How did you do this?" Koromon asked.
Hikari looked to her left and found her brother on the floor, wrapped in the blanket. Now she was getting irritated, so she released a sighed, "Taichi, you need to wake up! We have to meet Koichi, remember? And Koshiro cal.." Taichi sprang to his feet and grabbed her shoulder, "Woh!"
"What?" Taichi asked.
"Huh," Hikari exclaimed, taken aback. Where did Taichi get this sudden burst of energy was beyond her.
"What did Koshiro say?"
"Oh!" She took a moment to get a hold of herself, "He just contacted. He said that he would tell us when we meet," Taichi let go of her shoulders. Hikari could see his excitement getting replaced with mild disappointment mild hope. She sympathized with her brother. He considered everyone his responsibility and takes too much pressure.
"Taichi!" Koromon chorused happily and jumped in Taichi's arms. Hikari was relieved to see a smile upon her brother's face.
"How are you, Koromon?"
"Starving!"
Taichi chuckled, "Guess somethings never changes!"
"Alright, don't take too long, Taichi, or we will be late," Hikari said while leaving the room with Koromon bouncing behind her.
Taichi sat on the edge of bed Memories of last night came like a flood ravaging his mind. On top of this, the fact that his friends were missing. Even though Koshiro said he had got something, it didn't comfort Taichi much Koshiro would have told Hikari right away if Gennai knew something.
He sighed.
Still, something important might come up. After finishing the morning routine, Taichi joined his mother and sister for breakfast. Hikari seemed lost in her thoughts the whole time. She was eating just on instincts and more like picking and less eating. He thought that maybe it was because of their lost friends, so he didn't pay it much attention, at first. It's like he was in any cheerful mood himself. Even his mother, who knew by now about his friends' disappearance, was down. But soon, Taichi noticed that Tailmon was eyeing Hikari consistently. It made Taichi suspect if there was something else.
After ten minutes, Tailmon finally spoke, "You are still thinking about that?" All eyes turned to them.
"Huh?" Hikari asked.
"The boy from yesterday: Koichi," Tailmon replied.
Koichi!
"Koichi?" Taichi's mom asked.
"Who is Koichi?" Agumon asked.
"You remember the people from last night?" Taichi asked.
"You mean the one who turned in to fire?"
"Did you hit your head last night?" Tailmon asked, "Humans don't turn in to fire!"
"But, this one did!" Agumon insisted, "Oh, and I saw one becoming lightning too!"
"I think they are telling the truth, Tailmon," Hikari replied, "I forgot to tell you, but there were these digimons that turned in to humans!"
"Impossible!" Tailmon exclaimed.
"I don't understand," Taichi's mom said, "Who is Koichi. I never heard this name from you before."
"He is in the same class as me, and Takeru," Hikari replied, "Yesterday we found out that he is, we think, a digidestined."
A frown appeared on Taichi's mom's forehead. Her eyes got narrowed a bit and lips pressed in line. Of course, another teenager risking his life wasn't going to sit well with her: especially after the disappearance of Daisuke Miyoko and Iori.
"What is it with kids getting involved in something so dangerous?"
There was an edge in her tone. Taichi decided to leave it there, "What about him?" He asked Hikari. She didn't seem comfortable talking about it. Did she feel that dark aura? Hikari had always been sensitive about this kind of stuff, "If you don't want to talk about it..."
"No! It's just..." She sighed, "There was something about him. Something weird and..."
Yup, she felt it, "And?" Taichi asked.
"For some reason, I had a feeling he was lying or at least holding back information. I know he sounded convincing, but..."
"It's alright," Taichi cut her, "Maybe you are right. We will figure it out." So, there is a chance he was lying. Great, They have another raven-haired, blue-eyed mystery boy with an extraordinary problem. What's up with these raven-haired and blue-eyed boys. Taichi sighed. Things used to be so much simpler when it was blonde-haired and blue-eyed boys. Things used to be so much simpler when it was blonde-haired and blue-eyed boys.
Taichi reached out his hand to grab a toast, and his eye caught a picture in the newspaper. He picked up the paper and took a good look. His eyes widened. There was a flying creature in the night sky. It was just a silhouette, but Taichi could tell it was no one from his friends, "Hikari, take a look at this!"
Taichi showed everyone the newspaper, "Who is it?" Hikari asked, "It's no one from us,"
"When was this photo was taken, and where?" Tailmon asked.
Taichi read down the newspaper and gasped, "Right where we fought Kuwagamon. Fifteen minutes after we left that place," Was Yamato's suspicion correct? Was someone keeping an eye on them? But Yamato thought it was a human. Are those digimons disguised as humans? He turned the page. The government's official statement on the incident, a bank robbery, an old case about a boy's accident was finally closed, but nothing on the digimon.
"It's ten past eleven already!" Hikari said, "We should go. Mimi would be coming too,"
Taichi nodded half-listening. They have to meet Koichi, and Mimi is-wait, "Mimi is here!"
"Hey, you guys!"
"Mimi!"
"Mimi'san"
Koshiro raised his half-opened eyes from the laptop, "Mimi h...Mmm," He yawned and dropped his head. Most of the last night, he had spent on finding any way to contact Gennai and rarely slept. Now he was trying to find information about the digimon that Taichi saw in the newspaper. He only had a silhouette, but they thought they might be able to match the outline to potential candidates. Unfortunately, he had no success yet.
"Koshiro, didn't I told you to take a bit of sleep as well, last night!" Sora asked.
"Sor...Mmm..ry,"
"So what about you, Koshiro? Aren't you excited to see me?"
Koshiro raised his head, "Hmm, yeah...HEY!" He backed away, seeing her face too close. His chair stumbled.
"Hey!" Yamato exclaimed.
"Watch it!" Taichi yelled.
Koshiro fell on the floor with a THUD, "Ouch!"
"Koshiro'ha," Tentomon hastened to his side, "Are you alright?"
Koshiro sat up rubbing his head, "I think so," He took Taichi's hand and stood up.
"What happened?" Tentomon asked.
"I guess I was just shocked," Koshiro replied.
"I don't think Mimi looks that scary!" Patamon said.
"You think I look scary?" Mimi snapped at him,
Patamon flew right in Takeru's arms, "No! Of course not!"
"I am sorry," Palmon said, "Mimi didn't mean to do it!"
"It's alright!" Koshiro replied.
"So," Mimi addressed, "Did you miss me?"
Koshiro sat back on his chair, "Of course," Now that he was awake, he could focus on his work. He needs to find information on that unknown digimon. Oh, and on that note, he should add those digimons Koichi's friends turned into in his database when Koichi get here.
"What kind of greeting was that?" Mimi snapped, "You didn't say hello,"
"Oh, sorry. Hello," Koshiro replied as he started searching through his database. It was weird. That digimon had part matching a digimon but didn't belong to its evolutionary line.
"That didn't seem like a very sincere hello," Biyomon commented.
"Doesn't seem like he missed Mimi a lot," Gabumon commented.
"That's not true," Koshiro replied. He opened the map that showed a black dot on a map. Koichi was coming, "I am just busy,"
"What's this map Koshiro'ha?" Tentomon asked, hovering over his head.
"A Quantum Digital Field map..."
"Quantu...what?" Gabumon asked.
"A field that..."
"Alright. We get it." Taichi cut off Koshiro.
"I don't," Agumon replied.
"Don't bother," Tentomon replied, "It will...make you dizzy," She added.
"Oh, okay then," Agumon replied.
"I don't get it either," Mimi added.
"Neither do I," Palmon added.
"Trust me. None of you guys wanna know," Sora replied.
"So, this is showing the location of Koichi?" Yamato asked.
Koshiro switched to another program, "Yes," He still wasn't able to find a big enough passage through the dimensional wall. It was never this closed before. There were only small cracks.
"Koichi?" Mimi asked.
"Great! So, where is he?" Takeru asked.
The door of the room opened, "Koshiro, there is someone named Koichi," His mom said.
"Here," Koshiro replied to Takeru, "Send him in mom," It was getting hard for him not to bombard him with questions last night. Now his excitement level was reaching the ceiling.
"You know, it's kinda freaky!" Takeru commented.
"And awesome!" Patamon exclaimed.
"Would someone tell me?" Mimi asked, "Who is this guy?"
"Our classmate," Hikari replied, "And a digidestined."
"We found out about him and his friends yesterday," Takeru added, "He is..." He broke off when someone knocked on the door.
"You can come in!" Koshiro called.
The moment Koichi had entered the room, he was overwhelmed by the number of people and digimons in the room. And to think three were yet missing! He hadn't given it much thought that there are so many people involved in this digimon stuff. Of course, it wasn't like last night had been the type to think about this stuff. He had other things on his mind for the twelve hours and so.
First of all, the state in which he went home. His mom's reaction was a mixed bag. On one side, she was horrified after seeing his condition, and on the other, she was furious he didn't contact him earlier. He had honestly thought she would ground him for the rest of his life. Luckily, she only said this,
"You will text me every two hours or so until this problem is going on."
It wasn't a request. Koichi nodded.
"Koichi," She glanced at him. Her eyes had that look that told him she didn't believe him, totally, "You are not hiding something for me, are you."
"No," Koichi replied. That look didn't leave her eyes. She had always been the only other Koji who could pick up on his lies.
"I hope it's true!"
Koichi knew he had to be careful from then own. She would see right throw him if he slipped just a little bit.
Another thing on his mind was his reaction speed during the attack. Koichi just knew he wasn't as fast as others. There were many instances when it happened, but the one that stuck out most was when the Kuwagamon came from Tomoki's side, and yet he was faster than Koichi. It was alarming. He had to keep his senses a lot more alert whenever he was around attacking digimons.
And then there was his internal conflict! He still hadn't been able to make up his mind. And the detector, in response to his state, had kept changing color.
All these issues didn't let Koichi give much thought to the fact that many more people are involved in this digimon business, which includes two, no three, of his classmates. The reality settled in when he came to meet them today. And guess what. There was a new addition to the group.
A girl named Mimi. Koichi had to admit that she was prettier than Izumi and a lot more direct.
"So you are Koichi," She said before anyone else could say anything, "Hi! I am Mimi."
"Umm, hi!" Koichi greeted back. He gave others a questioning look.
"She was in America," Takeru said.
So these guys are international. It was hard to believe. But then again, why not?
"I am glad you came to meet us," Mimi said, "It's always nice to interact with new digidestineds."
Digidestineds! So that's the term they use.
Now that Koichi thought about it, he agreed with Mimi. Knowing there are more people like him and his friends felt pleasant...normal! But once again, it also reminded him that they weren't coward like him.
"I remember when Miyoko, Iori, Daisuke, and Ken joined us," Mimi added, "Speaking of which, where are they and Joe?" Her friends started exchanging glances, "I brought these pretty dresses for girls."
"Joe said that 'he will be late.'" Yamato replied.
"And Ken is in Tamachi..." Takeru exchanged glances with his friends, "Trying to find any about Daisuke, Miyoko, and Iori."
"Trying to find clues!" Mimi repeated, "What do you mean?"
"We didn't want to worry you while you were on your way," Hikari said.
"Will you guys drop the suspense already?" Mimi yelled in a panicked tone
"I am getting worried." The plant-like digimon asked. Koichi hadn't noticed it earlier in so many digimons. She must be Mimi's companion or whatever they are to humans. Speaking of which, how did this even work.
Sora answered Mimi, "Well, you see..."
Tomoki covered his nose as he sneezed hard, "Someone is missing me a lot," He said to himself with a cheerful smile, "Or maybe it's just the air!" He leaned against the back of the bench as he waited for his friends there. They had decided to meet in the park to discuss things and how to proceed. Tomoki didn't have to wait for long as soon he noticed Takuya approaching him, "Hey, morning!"
"Yeah, morning!" Takuya replied.
Okay, his mood was off. That wasn't too hard to see, "What's up?" Tomoki asked, "Things went well with Shinya?"
"Yeah, I guess,"
I guess, huh!
"So, how did it go with your family?" Takuya asked.
Tomoki grinned, "Great!"
"What?" Takuya asked, shocked, "Really!"
Tomoki nodded, "Umm-hmm!"
Tomoki rubbed his chin as his mind ran at what must be a million miles per second. He was injured, and his clothes were ragged, so there was no way he could deny being there, but maybe he can twist the situation.
"Mom, dad!" He called as he entered the house, "I am home!" It wasn't long before he heard three pairs of footsteps, and his parents and brother appeared from around the corner.
"Tomoki!" His mother exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around him, "Thanks to God you are safe,"
"We were so worried about you! Where were you and..." His father took a look from head to toe, "Don't tell me you were there!"
Tomoki had never heard such fear, worry, and relief in his parents' voices, and, definitely, not at the same time. It almost made him feel guilty about deceiving them. Almost! "I didn't want to go there. They just happened to be there,"
"You sure you are not lying?" Utakata, his brother, asked, crossing his arms.
Tomoki was surprised. His brother had always been more skeptical toward him than his parents.
His parents gave him a questioning look, keeping him in arm's reach.
"No! Why would I go there intentionally? They were so dangerous and sc...a...ry!"
"Oh, my boy!" His mother hugged him again.
"But I didn't panic."
"Now, that's my brave son!" His father exclaimed, and Utakata smacked his forehead. Tomoki would have burst out laughing if he wasn't putting an act, "But these wounds..."
"Oh these, well," Tomoki sighed, "I couldn't lie. They were going to attack a boy, but I stopped to help him. I couldn't just leave him. Right? I am sorry."
"Of course, you did a good thing, but it's a job for authorities," His mother said.
"I am proud you did the right thing, son, but it's not your job and, definitely, not your age," His dad added.
Tomoki nodded.
"Nonetheless, I am proud of your bravery! Perhaps you will be a soldier one day," He hugged Tomoki like he never hugged before.
Utakata crossed his arms and gave Tomoki an annoyed look, "Mom, Dad, you guys are spoiling him instead of scolding him."
Tomoki's parents glared at his brother, "Your brother just showed so much bravery, but instead of being proud, you are telling us, 'we are spoiling him.'" His scolded.
"Did he!"
"Yes, he did!" His mother asserted, "Now go and get pizza and drink for him!"
"WHAT!"
Tomoki grinned and, for a moment, showed a victory sign. Utakata turned and left, murmuring something about brat.
His mother turned to him, and he stopped grinning, "Don't be so careless again, alright!"
"I will try," Tomoki replied, "I can't control where the monsters appear. Right?"
"That's true?" His father agreed.
"Man, was it a night!" Tomoki exclaimed, rubbing his stomach.
Takuya could only stare at him. His eyes were wide, and mouth open. He couldn't believe his ears, "That actually happened?" How come he got to be the once getting scolded? Okay! Maybe it was just Tomoki. It's not like everyone would get the same treatment. Right?
"So, how did it go for you?" Tomoki asked.
"Oh, nothing much. Just, instead of an ice-cream, I got shouting in my face." Well, he got more than just shouting in the face, and he still felt salty about that. It didn't seem like he was going to forget it anytime soon.
"Really?" Tomoki asked, "That must have been more dramatic than my story,"
Takuya felt all his blood gathered in his face, "WHAT DOES THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?" He demanded, towering over Tomoki, half embarrassed, half furious.
Tomoki raised his hand, grinning, "Sorry. I didn't mean it like that!"
Takuya crossed his arms, giving Tomoki a suspicious look, "Uh-ha!" Like Takuya would believe him. Hard to believe, it was the same Tomoki who once used to cry about little things.
"Anyway," Tomoki said. His tone became serious, "Yesterday..."
Takuya raised his eyebrow, "Hmm?"
"Did Agnimon appeared in front of you: after you went home."
"Oh yeah! I wanted to talk to you guys about it but, I just went to sleep," More like, he didn't want to talk to anyone last night.
Takuya smacked the door of his bedroom: shut and clenched his fists, "Dammit!" It was always the same story. She thinks Shinya can't do anything foolish, and it's Takuya's fault. But how did she thought, he would put his Shinya in danger.
Takuya relaxed his fists and switched on the lights. He took a step toward the closet but froze as a shudder ran down his spine, "WhAt iS hAppeNing?" He couldn't move and suddenly, as if a thousand needles were piercing his skin: inside out.
It didn't last long, though. Soon the feeling was gone, and Takuya was breathing heavily on his hands and knees, "What just..."
"Hey!"
Takuya stopped heaving. He was frozen, once again, but this time with shock. That voice...how...but it did happen before. He snapped his eyes up, and there he was, standing in front of him.
Agnimon!
"What are you so surprised about?" Agnimon asked.
Takuya didn't know how to answer that. One moment he was all right, and the next, a weird feeling clawed his body, and now Agnimon was in front of him, "I just wasn't expecting this," He stood up, "Don't tell you can do this all the time?" Imagine if Agnimon appeared like this in public, "And is it always this painful."
"For the first question, not really," Agnimon scratched The back of his head, "Cherubimon told Ophanimon something about resonance and emotional fluctuation,"
"Just three words! Real genius!"
"Well, it's not like you would have done any better!"
"That's not true!" Takuya opened his closet and took clothes.
"Yeah, right. That's why you sleep in class."
"You know that!" Takuya yelled. It was horrifying that someone knows everything about him even if it's Agnimon, "How much do you know?"
"Not much, to be honest. Just this one since I contacted you in class,"
So he will know every single thing about him. Takuya shuddered.
"Relax!" Agnimon added, "I can't know things that you intentionally want to hide,"
That was a relief. Takuya released a sigh.
Agnimon grinned. Takuya didn't like that look, "What do you want to hide anyway," Agnimon asked, "Come on. I won't tell anyone."
"Nothing much, yet," Takuya took his detector out of pocket and threw it in his drawer.
"So," Agnimon said, "About downstairs."
"Yeah, the usual."
"That's not true!" Agnimon protested, "By her expression, I could see she was regretting it. Has she ever..."
"I am not talking about that," Takuya cut off Agnimon, "She was disappointed in me. Something that is always me and not Shinya."
"Well, maybe that's because she expects more from you,"
"Yeah, right!" That was the last thing possible.
"Do you remember?" Agnimon asked, "Down in the underground station when I appeared."
"So?"
"You had almost given up, and I was disappointed because I thought you would never give up. Maybe it's the same."
"But it's not the same."
"How?"
"Because she is my mom."
"So,"
Takuya sighed. Agnimon won't understand it. He was digimon. Takuya might act like an idiot but wasn't a total jackass. He understood that only humans could understand something, "Look, I am not angry at her. I just..."
"What?"
"Nothing," Takuya wanted to change the topic now, "Anyway, Can you just stay like this like last time?"
"You are trying to change the topic," Agnimon sighed, "Fine! No, I can't,"
"Why not?"
"Look, you can ask this to Cherubimon. Honestly, most of the things flew over my head," He crossed his arms, "But as much as I understood, last time we were able to appear: one, because of you guys, and second, because other life force that Ophanimon's modification and Seraphimon's egg gave your and Koji's detectors. Since other spirits visited your detectors a lot, they also got that life force. With time we ran out of it. And also, the influence of your personalities disappeared when we turned back to spirit state."
"But you are here now?"
"Actually," Agnimon approached the closet, and Takuya gasped when his arm passed through it, "I am more like a hologram. And the reason, I can appear like this, is something only Cherubimon can explain."
More like a ghost because Takuya was sure holograms don't talk
Takuya gave everything some time to sink. He needed that! "So how long will you stay?"
"So eager to get rid of me," Agnimon said, "Man, I am hurt. Alright! My time is up anyway. I can't stay like this for long."
"It's kinda weird," Tomoki said.
Takuya nodded. He didn't tell Tomoki his whole conversation with Agnimon. He wasn't comfortable with sharing it right now.
"Anyway, about yesterday!"
Takuya raised an eyebrow, "Those guys: who followed Koichi. it was a bombshell."
Takuya scratched the back of his head, "Oh, that!" Honestly, Takuya hadn't given it much thought, actually any thought. With Shinya and everything, he forgot all about that, "Now that you mentioned it,"
"And they somehow digivolved those digimons!"
"Yeah, that did happen. Didn't it!" Takuya crossed his arms, "Wonder, what's up with that?"
"You know what it might mean. Don't you?" It was Junpei. Takuya turned around. His other three friends approached him.
"What are you talking about?" Tomoki asked.
"It seems like they may have replaced us!" Koji replied.
"Why do you think that?" Izumi asked.
"Yeah, I don't get it either," Tomoki added.
"Don't you remember what happened when those digimons appeared five years ago?" Junpei replied, "Some digimons appeared and stopped them. And now, we are finding out that these guys can't just summon digimon but can evolve them."
Takuya's eyes widened as everything started making sense. Of course, these guys knew about digimon. It must have been Cherubimon who involved them.
"And they have devices similar to our detectors," Junpei added, "Who else would have these kinds of devices,"
"Aren't we jumping to conclusions?" Takuya asked, "Why to involve them? And Ophanimon wouldn't do something like this," It didn't seem like her. She is just so caring.
"Well, it's not like Ophanimon didn't call dozens of children in a war-torn world before," Koji replied.
"Now, when you put it that way," Tomoki replied.
Yeah, Ophanimon did do it.
"I asked Blitzmon," Junpei added, "According to him, they turned into their hibernation state about a year after we left. If we consider time dilation between the human world and the digiworld, it can coincide with the timing of those events."
"Maybe they wanted to give us time to rest," Izumi suggested, "We were pretty exhausted when we came back."
That would make sense, "Yeah, I agree,"
"Who knows what they have been thinking," Junpei replied.
"I doubt it's that simple," Koji said, "Anyway," He turned to Takuya, "How dd it go with Shinya?"
Cherubimon had always been the prepared one. Even when he turned evil, actually especially then, he preferred to be ready for everything. It was, for this reason, he changed the spirits. He hated it when things would happen without him realizing it. And yet, this time, he wasn't prepared. And now, one of the spirits was gone.
"What are we going to do?" Ophanimon questioned, "Cherubimon, about the other spirits."
That's what Cherubimon had been thinking for hours and might have a solution. But it doesn't change the fact that one of the most dangerous spirits is most likely in the wrong hands, "I will send them to the human world."
"But that's not possible," Ophanimon replied, "We can't even make contact let alone sending the spirits. And if you are thinking about using their connection to humans, you know we can't force it upon them."
"Not the outside world," Cherubimon interrupted.
"You mean...but the underground trailmon station is damaged. Even Kuwagamons were able to enter there."
"It was because of the kids." Still, Ophanimon had a point, "I will use spirits' own energy to repair it. Since the spirits' bond with their chosen warriors can penetrate any barrier, they will be able to reach those people when the time comes." But all these were the last things he would worry about, "We should worry about what kind of person is this new warrior."
Indeed, the spirit of darkness had always been his favorite. The amount of raw power it had was something that always fascinated him. But if he had to keep one from wrong hands as far away as possible, one would be steel, " Since the time of our world synchronized with the human world, when Lucymon opened the portal, it might mean, that person is involved with our enemies for a while. He is probably trained."
"We have to find a way to warn other kids," Ophanimon said. Cherubimon heard the disappointment in her tone. She was trying nonstop since spirit got stolen, "I hope Gennai comes up with something."
"I am afraid I have to disappoint you, Lady Ophanimon." A male voice replied.
Cherubimon turned to the monitor that was showing Gennai, "What do you mean. Last time you entered in 'Old Room' through computer networks from the human world. And now you can't even send a transmission there."
"As I explained earlier, the dimension barrier has been totally out of our control since that time," Gennai replied.
"You sure you are not double-crossing us on behalf of Yggdrasil?"
"Cherubimon!" Ophanimon admonished, "You know we haven't been able to make contact with the human world since our last contact broke. The process must be getting in its middle stages."
No matter what Ophanimon said, Cherubimon didn't trust them one bit. At least not Yggdrasil.
"I assure you I have no bad intentions, and we will manage to convince Yggdrasil too." Gennai replied, "Now, some cracks appear here and there, but mostly it remains impenetrable. As per your account, only spirits by the call from their chosen warriors or partner digimons can go through the barrier without any aid of natural crack. Until this process continues, we can't do much."
"It's here!"
"Pardon me?"
"Another wave is coming," The weird energy running through the digiworld washed over Cherubimon.
"Yes...I felt it." Ophanimon replied.
When they reached outside, Cherubimon couldn't believe his eyes. The sky had turned red, and streams of energy were flowing around as if ripples in a cloth.
"I can't believe how strong this wave is," Ophanimon murmured, "Even the human world will see it."
Human world! Of course. And suddenly, as if a light bulb flashed in Cherubimon's mind, "Yes we can," He turned to Ophanimon, "We can contact them."
Note: I put the part where they suspect Ophanimon just to represent lack of communication.
