To Amy, I originally wrote the first six chapters, never planning on adding to it, but I wasn't happy with the ending, I felt like there was more to the story so I added another two parts to it, this part deals with her learning the truth about her parentage, while the next part deals with Eugene's and Rapunzel's wedding and Cassandra's interest in a former thief turned chef and father. I'll say that I'll probably have six, maybe seven chapters left.

...

Eugene glanced at Rapunzel as they slid off their horses, "So do we confront Dad first, or do we find Cass and let her in on the conversation?"

"I don't know," Rapunzel confessed, "Cassandra got really upset when she found out about her mother being Gothel, what if she acts that way with your father."

Eugene nodded, the last thing he needed was for her to accuse him of stealing their father's affection, "Let's take the music box down to Varian, I believe he's been given a workspace down in the cellars."

"Good idea, Bunny," Rapunzel said.

"Keep trying Sunshine," Eugene said, pressing a quick kiss on her cheek before walking past.

...

Eugene almost smiled when he opened the door to Varian's workspace to see that Cassandra was sitting on the worktable talking to Varian about something, neither one of them noticing him and Rapunzel entering the room, "Why don't you talk to Varian and I'll talk to Cass," Eugene whispered into her ear, "I think I better tell her what we discovered before she hears it from someone else."

"Cassandra," Eugene called out louder so that the others could hear, "Can I have a word."

Cass looked up and rolled her eyes, "I promise all I did was say Hi," she insisted.

"It's not about that," Eugene insisted, his stomach twisting weirdly as he wondered what had happened. Someone had obviously upset Cass, and as her older brother, it was his duty to protect her.

"Then what happened, let me guess, someone found fault of me... I don't know, I dropped off Dad's sword to the blacksmith to be sharpened, maybe that's it."

"Cass," Eugene began, praying silently that she wouldn't attack him when he asked this, "Have you ever wondered who your father was, your true father, not Cap but..." he trailed off as Cassandra thought about it for a second.

"I guess not, I know that Dad wasn't my father, but I guess I never knew my father, so..." she trailed off, "Why do you ask?" she demanded, her voice suddenly going hard as she glared at him.

"Rapunzel and I went back to your old cottage where you use to live with Gothel, and well, I found a trunk full of more of those magic mirror diaries," Eugene said, pulling out the mirror that they had brought back with them, "They detailed Gothel's love affair with your father," Eugene paused for a second, "If it makes a difference, I don't think he knew about you."

"How do you know that?" Cass demanded, her voice low and cold.

"Well," Eugene ran a hand over the back of his neck, "You see, it appears, that we're siblings."

"What!" Cassandra screeched causing Varian and Rapunzel to look over at them, "What do you mean we're siblings?"

"We, kind of, sort of, have the same father," Eugene explained, "Here look at this, it's a mirror from soon after you were born, Gothel mentions you and Dad."

Cass took the mirror shakily in her hand, was Eugene telling the truth? Not that it changed anything, her father never stuck around any more than her mother, she watched the mirror with fascination, it certainly looked real, and the glass wasn't broken or missing a piece so it didn't look tampered with, like that mirror Zhan Tiri planted for her to find.

"Okay," she said finally, handing the mirror back to Eugene, "So we have the same father, a father who abandoned me, just like my mother."

"Cass," Eugene, quickly lifted her chin up, "You have to understand, he abandoned both of us," he pointed out, "It wasn't safe in the Dark Kingdom to raise kids, so he left me at an orphanage and left you with your mother... if he even knew you existed," he mumbled that last part low enough that hopefully, Cassandra wouldn't hear it. Unfortunately, Cassandra had sharp hearing.

"What was that," Cassandra asked, "That thing you mumbled under your breath?"

"There's a good chance that Dad left Gothel without even knowing that she was pregnant," Eugene insisted, "Think about it, he recognized me in a heartbeat, you look like your mother, yet Dad didn't say anything to you. He had odds and ends, knickknacks from my childhood, yet nothing from your childhood," Eugene grabbed both of his sister's hands in his and started to carefully stroke her right hand, "I went through several of those mirrors, from the sounds of things, Gothel and Dad had an argument and Dad returned to the Dark Kingdom, it was only after he left that your mother discovered she was expecting you."

"Or maybe your father," Cass said, yanking her hands out of Eugene's grasp, "Didn't want me any more than my mother did."

"He's your father too," Eugene stated, "I might not have the answers you want, but I do know who does."

"Fine," Cass groaned, "We can go talk to King Edmund about his affair with my mother, but just so you know this doesn't change the fact that I can't stand you."

"Didn't expect it to."

...

King Edmund was talking to Rapunzel's parents in one of the dining rooms when his son charged into the room, "Dad we need to talk, now," he insisted, before noting who he was with, "Excuse me your Majesties," he said, bowing low to them, "But I have come across an urgent family matter that I need to talk to my father about."

"What is it Hor... Eugene," King Edmund asked, catching himself, before he could call him the wrong name, before muttering, "I hope that this isn't going to be about The Talk."

"No, no Dad, I already had The Talk," Eugene said, "I need..."

"We need to know about your relationship with my mother Gothel," Cassandra insisted stepping into the room.

"I was working on asking that," Eugene grumbled.

"You were taking too long," Cassandra grumbled, before turning to the visiting King, "Well?" she asked.

"Once I was smitten by your mother's beauty, but it only lasted a couple of months before I realized that she was vain and greedy and didn't really love me. So I left."

"What is this all about Son?" Frederic asked, glancing at his captain of the guards and his daughter's Lady-in-waiting.

"This," Eugene said, handing his father the same mirror that he had shown to Cassandra a little while ago, "It's a magic mirror diary, just tap it to play the memory."
