Author's note 1:
I wonder how many viewers understood the previous chapter note was just a troll?
Mmm…
Enjoy!
Two weeks…
Two fucking weeks in this hellhole…
Between me and Blue costantly snapping at our throaths, the grins Echo sent my way when that happened, Delta's gaze (which was awkward considering she didn't pay attention to me very often) and Charlie's want to chat with me, I think I'll go animal and rampage by the end of this month.
I tried many times to find any suitable way of communications with Owen, writing in the dirt didn't work out as the idiot directed his attention elsewhere, probably thinking I was digging an hole for whatever the fuck reason he could find. Most of the time Owen was very distracted, he was a zombie, his eyes were unfocused and he stumbled very often on the rail.
One time he even risked to fall in the paddock, Barry took his place and sent him at home. I sighed and shook my muzzle, I just wanted my old life back… was that too much?
Me and the girls were running at another pig, who of course fled inside a container. The bastard knew the pattern so well, perhaps better than all of us combined. And we lived here!
"Where did it go?"
"Maybe it fled from our home?"
"Not possible! There are walls here!"
While Charlie, Delta and Echo were sharing their toughts on the pig's escape, me and Blue were at each other's side. Trying to avoid gazes or even talking. A wrong move? There would be pieces of meat scattered around the grass, perhaps even with the one survived covered in blood.
I felt a shift of weight and a growl. "I hope we can end this soon…"
Ignore it.
"At least we'll get back to our activities…"
Ignore it.
"And I won't have to see you again for some time"
Sure, maybe ignoring the elephant roaring was a bit hard by this point. But I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of an answer. She was a bully right now, rule 1: Ignore bullies and they will lose interest in torturing you.
I hummed in approval and waited for Owen's signal, it was very strange to be on the other side and following orders. Maybe for the rest it was normal, but I felt different… like I could make my own choices and wouldn't need to follow Owen. Raptors instincts? Nah, more like the human free will.
She snorted and rumbled an hiss. "At least me and my sisters know where and when we hatched, you probably don't have parents, we have Alpha"
My legs started to tremble, my breath accelerated and I squeezed my eyes every now and then. My claws clenched and unclenched.
Mom…
She searched for me during these two weeks, I learned the security tried their best to help her. She left the island a day or two before, Owen was devastated. I heard he went drunk and destroyed the roulotte, he always brought the draw I made with him, sometimes I saw him staring blankly at it while we did our exercises.
I growled and snapped my jaw at her, she giggled back and hissed, crouching down. I did the same and started circling her…
"Hey, hey, hey! Eyes on me!" clicks brought Blue's attention to Owen, too bad the blue striped raptor shrieked at her Alpha. Probably pissed at being interrupted, I just snorted and went back to my position. "Eyes on me!" he pointed a finger at Blue who calmed down.
"Red…" I perked my head up before Owen could click. He was stunned for a moment but then he glared hole at my face. "At least you were decent enough to stop before I'd have to intervene…" he nodded to my part of the paddock. "…you did enough today, go and rest. Me and the girls will end this…"
I brushed past Blue who coughed. "Eyes on me, Blue!" I smirked with my teeth, looks like she is the dog after all, uh?
I curled myself down and wrapped my tail around my body, watching the training session.
Charlie and Delta were chittering, clearly unhappy from the interrupted fight between the challenger and the beta. Honestly? I didn't give a fuck about the position, I knew who I was, a human.
"Charlie, don't give me that shit!" His glare shifted to Delta. "Delta, lock it up!" Once the two raptors were placated, Owen raised a palm. "Good! And… we're moving!" Blue snapped her jaw to Delta who was on her way, the greenish raptor went immediatly away. I internally scoffed, Delta was afraid of that?
"Hold!" they coughed in unison. "Okay, that is good! That is damn good…" he clicked three times before inserting his hand in the usual bucket full of food. "See? Charlie, that's what you get! Echo, here you go! Delta!" each piece of meat was perfectly caught by the raptors who happily chew on them.
"Blue!" Owen motioned at the rat with his eyes. "This one's for you…" he threw it and Blue raised her head, catching it. The raptor glanced at me with a grin and I puffed my chest, was that supposed to impress me?
"Red!" I snapped my head up in surprise and gave a croon of confusion. He beckoned me with two fingers. "I didn't forget about you…" he took another rat from the bucket. I got up and approached him, he slowly launched it and I got it between my jaw, chewing on it.
Before I went back to my position, I smugly looked at Blue.
"Hold!" they were still as statues. "Eyes up!" he pointed his index finger up. He smacked his lips together and pointed at the ground. "Go!"
"Follow me…"
Barry was complimenting Owen for his fantastic job while all of the workers were cheering… until Hoskins arrived…
They started talking about the same things, experiments with the raptors, field tests, etc. etc.
"Pig loose!" I looked at the rail, a guy with a staff was running, shouting to heavens. "Pig loose!" I followed his gaze, the pig was indeed inside the paddock. Echo already eyed the animal with hunger and crouched to bolt, the guy was preparing to catch the head with his staff…
"Oh shi-"
The guy screamed as Echo arrived first and jumped for the kill. The staff was throwen away from its possessor and the guy lost balance, falling inside. His fall ending with a loud thump which allerted the girls.
"Please don't tell me they'll do what I'm thinking…" my fears became reality as Blue and the others approached the guy, hissing and snapping. I was ready to get up but I heard the gate opening, Owen slided down the opening and got in front of them, a palm opened.
"Hold your fire! Do not fire!" snipers were pointing their rifles, this was pretty bad, but I had to intervene. Before Blue could change her mind and pound on Owen, I bolted in front of him and shrieked at the others.
"Stay back!" Charlie and Delta were confused of my action, Blue just hissed. "He's an intruder! Let us pass!"
"Put twelve amps in these animals and they're never gonna trust me again…" he slowly continued. I glanced at him for a second before returning to my defensive spot. Either snapping my jaw or hissing when one of the three would advance, thankfully Echo was still feasting on the pig so we wouldn't have to deal with a fourth deadly animal.
"Is he protecting Owen?" I heard the guy asking Barry, I was too focused on getting the trainer out of here. I had no time for bullshits like those.
"Blue, stand down! Stand down…" the last command was more docile and soothing, too bad Blue had to snap her jaws and refuse the command. "Hey, hey! What did I just say?!"
"Don't make this more complicated…" I reasoned, Blue hissed in anger and stomped her foot ahead. "He's an intruder to our home! He must be dealt with!" fuck this territorial bullshit! This was an innocent life we're talking about.
"Delta I see you, back up!" the raptor gave a shriek of anger, her mouth opened. "Do as he says!" did they want to turn this in a fucking blood party? "Charlie, stay right there…" behind me, I saw Owen smiling and opening his palm.
"Close the gate…"
What?
"Are you crazy?!"
"Defenitly!" but I understood what he wanted to do, Barry muttered a "merdè!" but complied and punched the button. When the gate was almost closed, I bolted away and Owen slided under the bars, thankfully unharmed.
I breathed in relief and stumbled towards my part of the paddock, the adrenaline drained almost of all of my energies.
"Why did you do that?" I stopped and turned to Blue. "Why did you want to let the intruder live?" I glanced at the grass for a few seconds before puffing out a breath and facing her. "He didn't deserve to die, Blue" I crashed on the dirt and closed my eyes.
"You're the new guy, right?"
What now?
"You ever wondered why there was a job opening in the first place?" he patted the guy's shoulder a few times before going away, Echo was leaning her head trough the bars and glaring at him.
I ignored the both of them, Owen was in fact watching me behind the bars. Studying me for more than a full minute. I blinked in confusion and he snapped his head in place, exiting the paddock.
How much more can I keep this up?
Pretending to be something I'm not?
Hopefully enough to find a cure…
Author's note 2:
And cut!
I originally wanted to make a novelization of the movie but I decided against it and we all know what's going to happen the next time right?
I plan a lemon in three or four chapters, prepare your pants.
Gino out!
