Chapter 11 Fighting in the Real World…With the Skid

A.N. – The skid makes its grand return today! I had no time to write yesterday, so I couldn't get a chapter out. Still trying to put it out once a day, so tomorrow will probably be another one considering nothing else happens that stops me. Let's begin!

mordechay98 – I didn't understand your review. I read it and I don't know what you are trying to say. I need more clarification to understand what it means.

Short Summary – For four days straight, Jeremy and Aelita have been working on a program to bring their ship into the real world. While that is successful, Jeremy points out that it has no shields and if destroyed will be lost in the Mediterranean, along with them. Can they cross without having the Skid destroyed?

Sicily

With the threat of the security program gone from Sicily, the warriors wait for Jeremy and Aelita to complete their program for bringing the Skid into the real world. Aelita pointed it out as a possibility but didn't know if it could happen. The only reason she thought this was because of Jeremy being able to bring, their outfits, and vehicles into the real world. But it has been four days since they discovered that the security program can bring digital sea monsters into the real world.

"The farther we go, the worse it gets fighting the security program" Odd said.

"What can we do? We can't attack Paris until we secure the area around it" Yumi said.

"But you said it had monsters all around it."

"Doesn't mean that they are not in other countries. I mean he brought the Kolossus here and we never though we would see that again."

"I wonder what the progress with the skid is?" Ulrich pointed out.

"Four days straight and nothing."

"Sounds like Einstein. Working twenty-four seven and no progress. And if there is, it is very little" Odd said.

"Bringing a whole ship into the real world is more complicated then rematerializing our outfits and vehicles" Ulrich said.

"I think the only thing we can do is wait. We are not leaving Sicily until we have a safe way to cross the Mediterranean, considering what happened last time" Yumi said.

"How did he manage that?"

"That's a good question. Just bear in mind, we knock out those forces, getting to Spain will be harder. He will be watching, waiting to send out forces in greater numbers. What he sent were more like scouts."

"Then we just have to be on top of our game."

Jeremy & Aelita

While the others were relaxing and conversating, Jeremy and Aelita were nearly finished with their program.

"Okay, with this done, we should be able to materialize the ship into the real world" Jeremy said.

"Do you think this will work?" Aelita asked.

"I spent three days developing it and a whole day testing every possible avenue for a flaw. Nothing wrong. No data leaks or data loss. Perfect, hopefully."

Jeremy was confident that he had a working program. The only thing to do now was test it.

The Tower in Norte Dame, Paris

The security program was happy that his monsters were effective, but knew the warriors were coming soon. The four days stall gave him enough time to do what he had to.

"Now I have the right amount of monsters to deal with them. Time to put the warrior's real skill to the test" the security program said looking over his plans of how to sink the Lyoko Warriors hopes of reaching Spain.

Coast of Sicily

Jeremy called over his friends to begin attempt number two at crossing the Mediterranean Sea. He was also ready to test out his new program.

"Okay, now that you all are here, we can begin. Over the past four days, we have been working on a program to bring the skid into the real world. After non-stop hours of working and testing, let's see what happens" Jeremy said as he activated the program.

The ground started to shake as well as the water. Soon after, Jeremy's program was sown as a success and he activated the manual controls. And then the warriors, all saw their ship, the Skidbladnir, rise from the waters off the coast of Sicily.

"I give you, the Skidbladnir!" Jeremy said.

"Congratulations Jeremy!" Yumi said.

"Yeah Einstein! You did the impossible!" Odd said.

"Well, even though it's an exact replica, it comes with some flaws" Jeremy said.

"Such as?" Ulrich asked.

"Well since you are going to be in waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the Skid does not have any shields. The reason behind that is that this is not the digital sea. Next, is that this ship has a crush depth, but you should not be traveling that deep, so it's not an issue. Finally, even though it's our virtual ship, it is just as vulnerable as anything else. A couple of good hits and this thing, including your navskids, will be completely destroyed and lost, including you."

"So, best advice is not to get hit?" Yumi asked.

"Or be hit as little as possible. Your navskids and the main control will all have health bars, so if things get dicey, you know what to do. Also, you have to enter the ship like any normal submarine. I can't energize you because you're not virtual avatars."

Aelita entered the main control from the top, while the others climbed into their separate navskid. The main control and navskid was made to every exact detail they had back on Lyoko. Jeremy made a perfect replica of his skid that took him months to develop on Lyoko.

"Alright, everyone ready for a cruise in the Mediterranean?" Aelita asked.

"Ready" they all replied in unison.

"Let's go."

Aelita piloted the skid down into the waters and headed towards the coast of Spain as well into the claws of the security program.

Mediterranean Sea

The Lyoko Warriors traveled the waters and had their eyes open for any monsters that were there. Aelita had the sonar activated too, to detect any incoming objects.

"We should be approaching the area where we were attacked last time" Aelita said.

"So, keep our eyes open then" Ulrich said.

"Exactly."

The Skid traveled through the waters making it obvious where they were. It was also very quiet which is not a good sign in any way. Suddenly two Kongers came from behind. Aelita saw it.

"We got company" Aelita said. "Coming from behind us." One of the Kongers shot lasers and Aelita dived down to evade and get behind them. "Time for a little revenge. Navskids away." Aelita released the navskids and the war in the waters began.

Yumi took on the first Konger and targeted it. "Got you. Fire!" Yumi said as she fired a torpedo hitting the Konger and having it explode. "Whoa, first explosive monster in the real world."

"Be careful, those explosions could rupture the hull."

Ulrich sped past Yumi. "My turn." Ulrich chased after the Konger and targeted him. "Fire!" Ulrich said as he fired his torpedo hitting and destroying the final Konger.

"I don't think were done yet" Odd said.

"The sonar doesn't detect anything" Aelita responds.

"Really? Where are the sharks?"

"Maybe sleeping" Ulrich said jokingly.

"Come in and hopefully we can outrun them" Aelita said starting the recovery for the navskids.

The navskids came in and they continued on their route to Spain.

One Hour Later

The Lyoko Warriors continued and not one monster has appeared since the two Kongers.

"That was one weak reception committee" Ulrich stated in over an hour of not seeing anything.

"Could've been those scouts I was talking about" Yumi said.

"Either the security program didn't get the message, or we are walking into a trap."

The Tower in Norte Dame, Paris

The security program was now thinking how to deal with the Skid.

"I didn't expect them to go that route. There has to be a flaw with this ship of theirs" the security program said.

"One of Kongers picked up this audio file before being destroyed" William said.

"Play it."

William hit the play button. "Be careful, those explosions could rupture the hull" Aelita said from the audio file.

"Sounds like this ship doesn't have shields" William said.

"Perfect" the security program said.

Mediterranean Sea

The warriors were traveling expecting to come across something. They didn't think the security program would be this quiet if he wanted to stop them.

"We are about to cover half the distance here soon" Aelita said.

"The only thing that sucks about the real waters as these don't turn red when a threat is present" Ulrich said.

"Makes us be more observant" Yumi said.

"Things are constantly going to change Ulrich. We aren't fighting a threat in a virtual world anymore" Aelita added.

"Being a real-world hero sucks a little bit" Ulrich says.

"I though you said you'd miss being the hero if Lyoko shut down" Odd said.

"Never thought a war would occur where we would have to fight for the survival of our race."

"We were always fighting for the survival of our race. If we were to die or fail on any of our missions, the human race was to suffer. The security program proved that by defeating us in Paris" Aelita said. Suddenly five sharks came after the warriors. "We got more company."

"Finally, some action" Odd said.

"Navskids away."

Aelita released the navskids and she ducked down as the sharks fired and missed.

"Sharks" Ulrich said.

"Those torpedoes will tear apart your navskid. Watch it!"

"I think the security program has the message we're here."

"Sure seems like it" Yumi responds.

Yumi went after her shark first. They went head on. Yumi looked at dead in the eye. "Let's play chicken" Yumi said as the shark was locked on. "Fire!" She fired her torpedo and blew up the shark as she dived down. She reversed and headed back.

Ulrich came in and took a shark for himself. "Come on fish face. Show me what you got!" Ulrich was then pursued by a shark. The shark fired a torpedo and Ulrich dodged it and then sped up and turned around. "My turn now. Fire!" Ulrich fired and destroyed his shark.

Odd pursued a shark. "Come on little shark. Odd wants to cook and eat you" Odd said as he tried to lock on to it. The shark was trying to evade Odd's lock on. Eventually, he got a lock on and fired away. The shark exploded and Odd headed back.

"My turn" Aelita said as she readied her guns. The Lyoko Warriors led the remaining two sharks to Aelita. They all separated in different directions and Aelita fired her torpedoes destroying both of the sharks in one blast. "Navskids in. We got to get to Spain by nightfall."

Daylight was running short and if night came, it would be impossible to navigate even in the shallow waters.

The Tower in Norte Dame, Paris

The security program was now done with the monsters.

"William go. Teach them a lesson" the security program said.

"Yes master" William left for the Mediterranean to confront the warriors.

Mediterranean Sea

"Where are we landing Aelita?' Ulrich asked.

"Barcelona. Closer to the capitol" Aelita responded.

Soon after, they were close to their destination, but they feared something else coming. Suddenly something pooped up on the radar. William was coming in a custom navskid.

"Something is coming, fast!" Aelita said.

William decided to reveal himself by sweeping past them. The momentum from his movement moved the Skid to the right.

"What was that?" Odd said.

"Not what, who and the answer is William. Navskids away."

The Lyoko Warriors were released and charged towards William. William turned around and headed towards them. William dived down and headed straight for Aelita.

"He is headed for Aelita!" Yumi said.

They quickly turned around and headed for him before he reached her.

"He is probably looking to destroy the main Skid" Ulrich said.

"Yeah, and us next" Odd added. William was coming in at an alarming fast rate and was getting ready to fire. Suddenly one of the navskids came at him and bumped him. William looked and saw Odd next to him. "Looking for me."

William bumped him back and pushed him. Ulrich came up from under him and hit him there. He released from Odd and went flying towards the surface. Before he hit the top, he dived back down and went straight towards Aelita. Yumi was targeting William on his descent.

"Aelita duck! Fire!" Yumi said. Aelita dived down and Yumi's torpedo hit William which exploded his navskid and the threat was gone. "Yes!"

"Nice job! Head in!" Aelita said as they came back, and they continued towards Spain.

Barcelona, Spain

As the Skid approached Spain, Aelita rose the skid out of the waters and headed closer to dry land. She disembarked along with her friends and they stretched their legs for the first time in hours.

"That was an exciting adventure" Ulrich said.

"Problem is, if we got cross any other bodies of water, it won't be easy" Aelita said.

"Hopefully we can travel anywhere by flying. Kind of uncomfortable ride in the Skid" Yumi said.

"Well, we still have to go back to Italy. This is just to secure the Southern route to France. First step in surrounding it."

"Also puts us on the security programs threats radar."

"Why do you say that?" Odd said.

"We are super close to France. I don't think it will easy retaking a country this close to the epicenter of this war."

"Just be careful and on point and we be fine. We got to set up a temporary camp for the night and prepare for the Spain and Portugal takeover tomorrow" Aelita said.

The Lyoko Warriors set up camp and wondered how bad it would be to retake two countries that were super close to France.

A.N. – And this ends the Skid adventure in the Mediterranean Sea. I don't know if there will be another one or not. We will see as the story progresses.
