Chapter 11: Hiro Opens Up

Hiro had never told anyone about what he did that day; the government gad only found out it was him through the cameras in the school computer lab. It was, of course, made public, but even if you searched it up, you would only find bits and pieces. The government had wanted to keep the incident on a down low, so most of the details were kept classified. Hiro didn't even know how the thief knew that the virus was on a USB drive, or that Hiro still even had it. But Hiro did know one thing for sure: that this was going to be a repeat of the incident, but on a much larger scale, and he had to do everything in his power to stop it from happening.

And so he did the one thing that he could do, even though he was going to regret. He knew he would. The others didn't understand how much keeping this entire thing secret meant to him. Not even Tadashi knew exactly what happened. The only other person who knew besides Hiro himself was General Williams.

Hiro told GoGo everything, starting from how it all started, and by the time he was finished, she was looking at him in shock.

"You should've just told Tadashi," was GoGo's only reply.

"It would've made everything so much easier."

"I know I should've, but at the time, I thought I could handle it on my own. I didn't want him thinking that I needed his help with everything," Hiro spoke as he went back to his computer and started typing again.

"Hiro, we're going to fix this, but you need to come clean to the others about this," GoGo replied back.

"Baymax literally records everything that happens to him. Just contact the others and have him play it back. I have to finish this algorithm so that we can locate the USB drive," Hiro spoke as he continued typing.

"Alright."

Later that night…

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait! You mean to tell us that you practically created something even worse than the machine that Obake created to destroy San Fransokyo?" Fred shouted out in confusion.

"Yeah, pretty much."

"No, not just 'Yeah, pretty much'. Hiro this is bad, really bad. Don't you realize what could happen?" Wasabi questioned.

"Yeah, I do. I've known about what could happen since I created it!"

"Okay, everybody calm down. We need to think this through," stated Megan, who was clearly still in shock about what she just learned.

Karmi opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She was still trying to process what she had just found out about Hiro.

How could he do such a thing? He is so sweet, I mean, he can be a jerk, but he'd never… thought Honey Lemon.

"What we need to do is take counter measures to protect the city," Chief Cruz spoke with certainty.

"There are no counter measures! I programmed it to only shut off when it's given the command to!" Hiro said grimly. Everyone turned to look at him, their eyes wide with shock.

"So, how do we shut it off?" GoGo said, trying to change the mood.

"You can only shut it off through its main command system. If you're not careful, it will automatically delete itself. That's why you have to have someone who knows how to use in order to access its abilities," Hiro responded, shocking everyone.

"Who else knows how to use it?" asked Karmi.

"No one, I'm the only person who does."

"That means that they'll come after you, Hiro," Honey Lemon and Wasabi said at the same time.

"I know that! I just can't understand what they plan to do with it. Wouldn't it make perfect sense if they blackmailed me into bringing them the USB drive and then kidnapping me?" Hiro questioned.

"Actually, yeah, that would make perfect sense if they did that. Why not do it that way?" Chief Cruz replied. He and Megan puzzled over this as the others got into an argument.

"We should…"

"No, you idiot…"

"Are you…"

"Why…"

"Wait!" Megan shouted, causing everyone to turn and look at her.

"You said that you didn't tell Tadashi about the incident, right? So how come he knew about it?" Megan quizzed.

"I—have absolutely no idea. I never actually gave it much thought," Hiro answered with a puzzled look on his face.

"Guess we're going to have to find out the hard way then. Hiro, it's time for you to face your past," GoGo responded.

"Wait, you mean you want me to talk to the General?" Hiro asked with shock.

"Exactly."
