Chapter 11 : Unforgettable

Callie's POV

That night was nothing but marvelous and I could feel that we were getting closer at a phenomenal speed. Even though we had both agreed not to skip the stages, I only wanted one thing: to kiss her.

I had to talk to her and open my heart to her. The last time I could not manage to say certain words that I absolutely had to say to her.

Arizona's POV

After we had toasted together, we started talking about everything and anything. We discussed gossip and new discoveries from the medical world. This discussion could undoubtedly have gone on all night if at some point Callie had not talked to me.

"Arizona, I need to talk to you about something."

"What's going on, sweetheart?"

"I would like to talk about the current situation and where we are. I know we said we were going to take this slow, but it was hard this week being alone at home without you and without Sofia."

"Callie, let me remind you that you insisted on not getting back together right away and moving slowly."

"I know, I know very well that I wanted us to give ourselves some time, but..."

"You know, I also felt that something was missing in our family."

"Would there be a way of avoiding separation from each other?"

"What do you mean?"

"I can't be full without you and Sofia. You are my balance. You make me smile each and every day...and I love you Arizona. I love you for a billion reasons. I love you so much that for me, loving you is like breathing. How can I stop? I cannot so I can't be away from you for long. You are the most precious thing that exists to me. I will do everything I can to never disappoint you again and never hurt you again."

I was, for a few moments, speechless after this statement. Callie had exposed her heart to me, and only God knew how beautiful those words were.

"Calliope," I ended up answering, "I do not know where this story is going to take us, but I would like us to really try again. I would like us to take the plunge together. All I want is to be with you for the rest of my life, if you agree with this plan."

"Of course I agree with this strategy. To tell the truth, there is another project that I would like to suggest to you."

"Which one?"

"This one."

After she had said this, she came up to me, gently put one of her hands on my face, then put her lips on mine.

It has been a long time that I have not had such pleasure from a ordinary kiss. That kiss made us both feel the love we had for each other.

After a few seconds of kissing we both decided to be quiet for a few moments to think about what we wanted to say next.

"What do you want us to do now?" Callie asked.

"I suggest you sleep in the guest room tonight, and then I will take you to a really nice place for dinner with me tomorrow night. Then we will see what happens, and we will figure things out."

"That sounds like a splendid plan."

Callie's POV

That night, after spending the rest of the evening hugging each other to make the other feel our love and exchanging a few affectionate kisses, we went to spend the night in two separate beds in two different rooms.

I spent the night dreaming of Arizona, dreaming of our family finally reunited and dreaming of candid moments of happiness for the three of us.

The next morning, I got up at dawn, made coffee and decided to bring breakfast to the woman I loved.

"Wow," Arizona said in her still sleepy voice, "I didn't know breakfast in bed was part of the plan we agreed on!"

"Do you want me to take the tray back to the kitchen?"

"Wait, I have never said that. This part of the process is quite enjoyable!"

"Bringing you breakfast in bed was actually an excuse for me to watch you wake up, so I guess it's quite enjoyable for both of us."

"I am also very delighted the first thing I saw this morning was your face, your wonderful face." Arizona continued before kissing me tenderly.

This day could not have been more perfect. We both shared breakfast, then together we went to wake up our daughter, then I went to get ready for my morning surgeries and finally, after putting a kiss on Arizona and Sofia's forehead, I headed to the hospital.
