Spider-Man: Look out! It's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! Torchwick is now behind bars, but the Chaoskiller is still out there. I've been told that it might be Mac Gargan, the Scorpion. What would he gain from killing other criminals? I'm also becoming concerned about Yang. Something is really bothering her and she wouldn't tell me anything. Did I do something wrong? I'm still learning the ropes on being a husband.

Issue 8: Avenging Couple

Manhattan

One night, a van owned by Alchemax drives along the streets of the city carrying some very important material like Black ISO-8, Dimension Dust, and most importantly, a Cosmic Cube Fragment. The van has actually been hijacked by two disguised thugs working for the Kingpin as they drive to his base at Shadowland.

"The Kingpin is gonna LOVE us for what we're bringing him. You sure we're not being followed by the Chaoskiller?" A thug asks his partner, who's relaxing on the passenger seat.

The other thug shakes his head, "Nope. We're fine as long we wear these disguises and driving this van."

BGM-Spider-Man 3 (Game) OST-MJ Scare Ride

Suddenly, the thugs felt something landing on the roof of the van. "Whoa! Something just hit the roof!" The passenger thug remarked. He pokes his head out through the window and looks at the roof, spotting a man clad in dark green high-tech armor resembling that of a scorpion, complete with the tail. His name is Mac Gargan, infamously more known as the Scorpion, and allegedly the Chaoskiller. The supercriminal notices the thug and stabs him in the back with his tail, throwing him out of the van to his death, much to his partner's horror.

"OH GEEZ!" shouted the thug, nearly losing control of the van that he's driving. He desperately tries to regain control, steering left and right on the streets repeatedly until he accidently crashed onto a building.

The bleeding thug groans from the crash, until he was stabbed by Scorpion in the heart and ruthlessly yanked out of the van. Scorpion walks to the back of the van, ripping it open and stare at the cosmic contents that are stored inside. He picks up the Cosmic Cube Fragment and chuckles sinisterly, "All too easy."

Next Morning…at Empire State University

BGM-Sonic Unleashed OST-Apotos (Day)

Three days have passed since Torchwick's arrest. After attending his classes, Peter walks towards the exit of his college to prepare for another day of stopping crime. As he approaches the exit, he notices a beautiful redhead woman waiting for him with a smile and instantly recognizes her. "MJ!" Peter smiled.

"Peter! Long time no see." smiled Mary Jane Watson, hugging her ex-boyfriend.

"Certainly has. Sorry we don't see each other a lot these days." Peter apologizes while they walk down the sidewalk together.

"Faults on both of us. I've been pretty busy with modeling and acting, and have gotten really popular in both fronts." Mary Jane replied.

Peter smiles, "I've noticed the billboards."

MJ chuckles, "Yeah, those were unexpected. Everything's happening at once. The billboards, the fashion show, which you have to come see by the way. Did you get the tickets I sent you?"

"Oh yeah. Not all the time you get to attend a fashion show hosted by an Avenger." Peter nodded.

"Ms. Van Dyne has been the best to work with. But enough about my life. How are things with you and Yang, huh?" MJ asked.

Peter nervously looks away while scratching his head, "Uhhh…"

"That bad?" MJ quipped.

Peter shrugs, "Three days and I still don't know what's bothering her. Ever since we took down Torchwick, we've been keeping our distance. Like she's giving me the cold shoulder. Whenever I have time, I tried asking if anything's wrong but she insists she's fine and wants us to focus on taking down the Chaoskiller. She might be stress from her investigation. She hasn't been sleeping well lately."

MJ looks at him with a concerned stare, "What about you? I've heard about DeWolff's death, and I know how close you were to her. How are you handling yourself?"

"I'm fine." Peter said stoically. "The sooner I find her killer, the better. I keep hearing rumors that he's Mac Gargan, but I'm not sure. The evidence doesn't add up. It could be another Scorpion for all I know. But if the Chaoskiller really IS Gargan, then I HAVE to find him. I won't rest until he has PAID for what he has done! He killed my friend, and is now ruining my marriage!" He declared with a vengeful tone.

"I understand, and you'll find him, but you should calm down. Don't be too obsessed or you'll do something you might regret. My advice? TAKE some rest. You and Yang. You two have been busy ever since you helped stop Thanos. When was the last time you two went on a vacation, or a date?" MJ comforted.

"Does racing each other in a grand prix hosted by an alien tanuki count?" Peter quipped. "And besides, how can I rest while the entire city is caught in an iron grip of fear that's strong enough to attract Grimm from Emerald Coast?" He asked.

"You and Yang attend my fashion show. Take some time off from the heroics and try to remember how to have fun." MJ recommended with a smile.

"I'll try. I'll see you tonight, MJ. I need to take a swing." Peter said, walking away from his friend.

"Take care of yourself, Tiger!" MJ smiled.

Short while later…

BGM-Spider-Man 2 (Game) OST-Ballad in City (Full)

Spider-Man swings freely across the city while pondering on his thoughts, "Maybe MJ's right. Maybe I have been too busy lately. Nonstop, with little breaks, for weeks. From saving the universe from Thanos, to cleaning up the mess left behind by Thanos, to stopping this gang war inadvertently caused by Thanos. Am I sensing a pattern here?" He sighs, "Even with chinface dead, that guy is still stressing me out. And could the same be said for Yang? Have I been too distracted with my own problems to see that she's suffering the same way? What a good husband that I'm turning out to be." He said sarcastically, jumping off a webline before quickly spinning another to swing on.

To his surprise, he receives a call from Yang. "Speak of the dragon." He quipped before answering the call, "Uh, hey, honey. How're you doing?"

'Fine, Pete. You can quit worrying about me. You're not my dad.' Yang replied somberly.

"No, I'm your HUSBAND. I'll keep worrying 'til you tell me what's worrying YOU." Peter argued.

Yang retorts, 'NOTHING besides the Chaoskiller. I might have found some clues to deduce his true identity. I used the map I found from one of Torchwick's old bases to identify his playgrounds.'

"You think he'll be out tonight?" Spidey questioned.

'Probably not. He's getting smart but get this. According to Carlie, some of his recent victims were injected with venom found only in scorpions. Regular scorpions. Faunus scorpions. Mobian scorpions. Basically anyone with scorpion DNA.' Yang continued.

Spidey snarls, "Like Gargan."

'And last night, someone fitting Gargan's description was seen crashing an Alchemax van that was stolen by two of Kingpin's men. They were killed and the cosmic material they were stealing suddenly vanished.' Yang informed.

"So Gargan IS the Chaoskiller! But I'm still confused. What do the initials 'T.C.' mean? And Gargan is NO Cletus Kasady. This killer has committed murders that would make Kasady blush with insanity." Peter remarks with his doubts.

'But you're forgetting about Black ISO-8. That stuff not only makes you more powerful, but also deadlier. Mess up your mind and go insane. Maybe Gargan was stupid enough to use one in order to become stronger and make him go mental to write bloody gibberish on walls.' Yang said.

"And perhaps, he might've been HIRED by a gang to kill off their rivals. Make it easier to conquer the city. Which gang has been targeted the LEAST by Gargan?" Spidey pondered.

'Last I heard, the local Egg Army has suffered the least casualties. Thinking about it, one of the contents that was stolen from Alchemax WAS a Cosmic Cube Fragment.' Yang commented.

"And the Egg Army HAS been hunting down the remaining fragments. It wasn't that long ago they robbed a bank to find one." Spidey added.

'Would you hear us? We're about to solve the biggest case of the year! All we need to do is find Gargan and this gang war will be done before Christmas!' Yang cheered, sounding happy.

"If he's working with the North Amerius Egg Army, then we need to find their base. And I know JUST the team that'll help." Spidey claimed.

'The Freedom Fighters?' Yang guessed.

"A team just as mighty." Spidey quipped.

Avengers Tower, Briefing Room

BGM-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 OST-Earth's Mightiest Tower

"Whatcha need? Some marriage counseling?" joked Iron Man, standing alongside Captain Marvel in their base of operations while talking to Spider-Man and Yang.

"Oh, we definitely need that." Spidey quipped.

Annoyed, Yang elbows his shoulder to shut him up, "Not right now!"

Captain Marvel raises an eyebrow, "Right now? Is something wrong?"

"I wanted to come to you guys for help, but she's being overprotective and decided to tag along." Spidey quips, pointing his thumb at his wife.

"Excuse me for being worried. Not to mention it's been MY job investigating the case on the Chaoskiller since day one!" Yang glared at her husband.

"Mine too!" Spidey retorted.

"Wait, wait! What does the Chaoskiller have to do with us?" Carol said, interrupting their argument.

"We're led to believe the Chaoskiller is Mac Gargan, the Scorpion, and was hired by the Egg Army to wipe out the rival gangs to make it easier for them to conquer the city. To make matters worse, he stole a Cosmic Cube Fragment from an Alchemax van last night, and we know the Egg Army is willing to do anything to collect them." Spidey explains his theory to his fellow Avengers.

Iron Man nods, "Good theory. As expected from my former protégé."

"I'm pretty sure MY former protégé worked just as hard on this case." Carol glares at the armored avenger, acknowledging Yang's involvement in this case.

"She sure did." Yang smiles, cockily rubbing her nose.

"We're referring to Ms. Marvel, right?" Stark joked.

"I can have two protégés!" Carol retorted.

"Okay fine. Lucky for you two, our local Russian spy just came back with intel on a secret Egg Army base located in Windy Valley Zone at the Mystic Ruins." said Iron Man, remotely commanding the tower to project a holographic display in the center of the room. The hologram displays a bunker resembling Eggman's face. "It's called the Gimme Shelter. If our intel is right, that's where they're storing TWO fragments, including the one Scorpion stole. We have to retrieve them before they ship 'em to Eggman." He told his teammates.

"Alright! AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!" Yang shouted excitedly while punching the air.

"You're not an Avenger. You're not allowed to say that." Stark quipped, much to the huntress's annoyance.

"Tony…" An annoyed Carol glared at her teammate for mocking her protégé again.

Gimme Shelter, Windy Valley Zone

BGM-Sonic Battle OST-Gimme Shelter

Inside the compact secret hideout, the Egg Army has stored two Cosmic Cube Fragments within a container thanks to Scorpion. After his success, the tailed supervillain meets with Dr. Starline and Egg Boss sisters, the cool and mature Clove the Pronghorn and the cybernetically immature Cassia the Pronghorn, on another secret topic.

"Good job securing the second fragment among the other stolen goods, Scorpion. Dr. Eggman will be pleased with your work." Clove congratulates her hired mercenary.

"It was easy killing all the scaredy cats that were in my way." Scorpion replied.

Cassia smilingly chuckles, "Yeah, everyone seems so afraid of you."

"They should be. I'm not one that messes around with my prey, especially when I don't get what I want." Scorpion proclaimed. "Speaking of which, I've done what you hired me to do. Will you give me what I want or will I have to kill you too?" He threatened, pointing his tail at the unfazed Clove while Starline and Cassia react in shock.

"Hey! Watch where you point that tail!" Cassia retorted, standing in front of her big sister to protect her, much to her shock.

"It's okay, Cass." Clove said sincerely, gently pushing her sister away while staring directly and coldly at Scorpion's eyes. She reaches into her suit's pocket to take out a mysterious red crystal. "Here is your reward, Scorpion. An Awakening Crystal. A red substance that contains powerful energy. Its limits are unknown, but when activated, it can awaken your true potential and grant you new powers. Dr. Starline will direct you to the lab to integrate it into your armor, as he upgrades that as well. And once he's done, we'll transport the fragments to Eggman." She says while handing the crystal to the supervillain.

"Come along, Scorpion. I want to finish this quickly so I can meet with the Doctor on time." Starline gestures the criminal to follow him to the lab.

"Feh. Whatever you say, fanboy." Scorpion quipped, following the platypus while leaving the Pronghorn sisters behind.

Clove looks at her sister with a cool glare, "Cass, I appreciated coming to my defense, but it was still risky. You know what Scorpion is capable of."

Cassia shrugs, "I know, I know. But he doesn't know what I'M capable of thanks to the new Titanian technology integrated into my cybernetics. I'm stronger and faster than ever!" She smiles while playfully punching the air.

Clove smiles sincerely, "And your illness has never been more stable."

"Booyah! I feel like a brand new Pronghorn! Gotta love alien technology!" Cassia grinned enthusiastically.

BGM-Sonic Adventure 2 OST-Won't Stop, Just Go!

Then out of nowhere, the base was hit by a loud explosion that knocked back several soldiers and blew a large hole into the shelter. The explosion was caused by Iron Man, leading his team consisting of Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, and Yang to assault the army. "And I love seeing all of you in prison cells!" Stark quipped.

Cassia gasps in shock, "The Avengers! How did they find us?!"

"Doesn't matter! They must be here for the fragments! Defend them!" Clove shouted, ordering her men to launch a counteroffensive on the Avengers. The older Pronghorn takes out a staff that generates a purple energy scythe, then stands in front of her sister to protect her, "Get the Egg Tank Bot online! We'll use it as a distraction while we escape with the fragments!" She ordered her little sister.

"Gotcha! Kick some massive butt, sis!" Cassia cheered her sister while running away.

Spider-Man yanks an Egg Pawn and uses it to unleash powerful webbing attacks, smashing Egg Soldiers from a distance and freeing animals from robots, "Any of you seen a criminal named Mac Gargan anywhere? Also goes by the name Scorpion? Tall, green, has a big tail, has become the city's most famous serial killer." He jokingly asked the goons he's beating up, smashing two large web mallets between soldiers and robots.

"Don't forget responsible for stealing a fragment containing vast cosmic energy." quipped Iron Man, firing a repulsor barrage at goons from the air.

Captain Marvel flies around avoiding the crowd of robots shooting at her, then unleashes beams of photon energy that instantly obliterates them. She glances her surroundings for a second before spotting the fragments sealed within a container, "There they are! I see 'em! Yang, give Spidey some room!"

Yang recoils herself forward to unleash a powerful explosive punch through a line of enemies, clearing the way for Spider-Man to zip towards the fragments. Spidey was about to open the container until his Spider-Sense warns him of a wide energy slash coming from Clove's scythe, which destroys the container and causes one of the fragments to land near Spider-Man while the other one was swiftly caught by Clove.

"Will you give us the fragment and Gargan's location if I say please?" Spidey quipped at the Egg Boss while grabbing the fragment next to him.

"No." Clove replied stoically.

The calm Pronghorn leaps away just as Spidey gets blasted by missiles from a large, red-and-gray four-legged tank bot with a head similar to an Egg Pawn's. Luckily, Spidey narrowly zipped away from the bombardment and clings to a wall. "So you won't give me the fragment OR Gargan, but you're okay sending a Super Badnik to kill us?" Spidey quipped.

"Yes." Clove remarks stoically, as her sister rushes to her side. "Good work activating the tank. Let's find Starline and get out of here." He ordered her.

"Adios, suckers!" A smirking Cassia mocks the heroes fighting the Egg Tank Bot while Pronghorn sisters make their retreat.

"Spidey, Yang, don't let them escape with the fragment! Carol and I can handle the Super Badnik!" Stark ordered, as the heroic couple race to chase down the Egg Bosses.

The Egg Tank Bot fires powerful lasers at Carol, who uses her powers to absorb the energy but was still blasted to the wall. "And HOW are we gonna handle this?!" She grunted.

Iron Man fires a missile barrage at the robot, but it barely did any damage before the robot counters with his own missiles that blasts the Avenger to the ground. Stark grunts while scanning the robot for weaknesses, "Why am I not surprised Eggman is using my own tech for his toys? Destroy the shielding on all four of its legs!" He ordered.

"Roger THAT!" exclaimed Carol, delivering a titanic punch that decimates one of the legs.

The Super Badnik limps slightly as it continues firing a barrage of missiles at the Avengers. Iron Man dodges them incredibly before concentrating his repulsors on another leg, destroying that before firing on the third leg and destroying that one as well. The last leg was left to Captain Marvel, who obliterates it with a powerful cosmic beam.

Once all of the bots legs were destroyed, the robot collapses before exploding spectacularly. "That's one way to crack an egg." Carol smiled from her little pun. "Hope the lovebirds caught up to the fragment." She hoped.

BGM-Sonic Adventure 2 OST-Shut Up, Faker!

Meanwhile with Spider-Man, he and Yang chase the Egg Bosses through a corridor. "Can't lose us, Pronghorns!" Spidey taunted them.

"Give up the fragment or you'll be in for a world of hurt!" Yang taunted, shooting bullets that are deflected by Clove's scythe.

Spidey shoots a webline at Cassia's back and yanks her. Quickly, Clove launches an energy slash that frees her sister and slows down the heroes. "Ow…!" Cassia groaned after landing on her butt.

"Sorry! Let's keep moving!" Clove said, helping her sister up as they near the lab.

As they arrive, Starline walks out of the laboratory before Scorpion after upgrading his armor and integrating the Awakening Crystal into his forehead. "What in Eggman's name is going on?" Starline asked the sisters.

Just as Yang and Spidey are about to catch up, the webhead glaringly notices Scorpion with the mobians. "YOU!" He shouts angrily, still believing that Scorpion is the Chaoskiller and murderer of Jean DeWolff.

"Huh? Spider-Man's here?!" Scorpion remarks in shock.

Blinded by rage, Spidey launches a speedy webline to zip himself towards Scorpion, much to Yang's objection. "Spidey, no!" She shouted, but her words fell on deaf ears.

"You have A LOT to answer for, Gargan!" Spidey shouted with vengeance.

"I don't have time to play games with you." Scorpion retorted. The crystal in his forehead activates, causing red energy to radiate from his body, increasing his strength immensely as he delivers a devastating spin attack with his tail on Spider-Man that smashes him onto the wall.

"Spidey!" Yang shouts, rushing to his aid.

"Starline, get us out of here!" Clove ordered the scientist. Starline opens a portal with his Warp Topaz, allowing himself, Scorpion, and the Egg Bosses to escape with a Cosmic Cube Fragment in their evil possession.

"Are you okay?" Yang asks her husband sincerely while helping him to his feet.

"He got away, because of YOU! Why did you let him escape?!" Spidey asked angrily.

"You were hurt!" She retorted.

"I'm FINE! You should've went after Scorpion! You know what he's done! He's the Chaoskiller, and he was RIGHT THERE!" Spidey argued.

"I SAW! But unlike you, I wasn't stupid enough to charge at him headfirst full of anger!" Yang glares during their arguing.

"Hilarious coming from you!" Spidey retorted.

"I've learned to control my anger! Take some anger management classes next semester!" Yang retorted.

"OKAY! Break it up you two!" shouted Captain Marvel, suddenly arriving alongside Iron Man to stop their heated argument.

"And I thought Steve and I argue like a married couple." Iron Man joked to lessen the tension in the air.

Spidey and Yang stare away from each other with somber expressions. "Sorry…They got away with the fragment." Yang apologized somberly.

Carol touches her protégé's shoulder to comfort her, "It's okay. At least they didn't get away with two of 'em. And we also procured all the stolen ISO-8 and such, so today wasn't a total loss." She said sincerely.

"As for Scorpion, I'll have my satellites track him down as we speak. We'll find him again. We always do." Tony assured the young heroes.

"Thanks Tony." Spidey replied solemnly, feeling bad for taking his anger out on his own wife.

Later at night…

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog 4 OST-White Park Zone (Act 1)

"And now, here we have Carina, in a FANTASTIC elf design!" said Janet Van Dyne holding the microphone, hosting tonight's Christmas fashion show in Manhattan.

Team RWBY and the Parker Brothers are among the many guests attending the fashion show. They watch their young Elder friend, Carina Tivan, walking down the stage in her beautiful elf clothing that she's modeling for Janet. "You look amazing, Carina!" shouted the smiling Ruby.

An uninterested Kaine groans, "Why I am here again? I don't care about fashion shows."

"Ruby's here, meaning you need to be here too." Blake replied.

"You're really insistence in wanting me to bond with the kid." Kaine said.

"At least you're not calling her a brat anymore. It's slow, but I'm noticing the progress." Blake grinned at her boyfriend, who scoffs with indifference.

As Carina returns to the backstage, Janet calls out the next model, "Here comes our next model. It's Ms. Mary Jane Watson." She called her out, as Mary Jane walks down the stage wearing a beautifully sexy Mrs. Claus design. "A young model and actress, Mary Jane looks stunning in time for Christmas as Mrs. Claus!"

Mary Jane shows off her beautiful design to please the massive crowd. She glances at her friends, most of them are amazed by her clothes and clapping for her. But, she also notices that Peter and Yang seem a little down, despite their best trying to hide the depressed looks on their faces. MJ frowns while walking to the backstage, 'Don't think I didn't notice. And here I thought this show would cheer 'em up. What happened this time that would cause them to fight?'

BGM-Sonic Rush OST-Theme of Strained Event

Scorpion stands ominously and menacingly atop of a rooftop, overlooking the snowy streets. He taps on his Awakening Crystal, "This crystal is more powerful than I thought. Good. It's all I need to finally take my revenge. Against Jameson. Against Spider-Man! Against EVERYONE who has tried to stop me! I'll show 'em all who's the baddest Scorpion in the city!" He laughed evilly.

KFX Here: Seems that Scorpion is the Chaoskiller. And Peter's marriage continues to be strained, this time from him being too obsessed stopping DeWolff's killer. But hey, at least Mary Jane is back and is moving up in the world. This Chaoskiller arc is soon to be over, folks. Hope you've been enjoying the mysteries and drama.

Note (for the curious): Scorpion is using his PS4 Spider-Man outfit.

D.N. Works: Before, Yang was never married. And before, she never witnessed her friends and family die TWICE in a row (Galeem and Thanos). Her PTSD will be properly explained in the next chapter.

Guest (Chapter 9): Nah. I've said this before, but I'm done crossing over with new franchises unless I'm running out of ideas.
