Part 10: Kinks In The Plan
Berserker Lancelot's charge was blocked by Mash's shield, shoving the girl back slightly! "Papa, stop!" Mash cried to no avail.
"Dammit, worst timing ever!" Mordred growled as she materialized her armor, holding her sword at the ready.
"ARRRRTHUUUURR!" Lancelot screamed as he broke away from Mash and charged Mordred, who quickly spun aside! But the berserker easily spun around and lashed out with his staff, Mordred barely parrying!
"Ishtar, help Mordred!" Ritsuka ordered. "Nagato, help Dantes with Black Saber!"
"Understood," Yuki nodded, firing magic blasts from her staff at Saber Alter.
"Knock me off Maanna, will you?" Ishtar growled as she re-docked on her Boat of Heaven. "Take this!" She promptly fired several rapid-fire shots, only for Lancelot to easily flash-step and avoid all of them! The berserker then materialized a gatling gun, his shots hitting the goddess with uncanny accuracy! "Agh! It hurts! Why must flesh be so weak...?!"
"Stop it!" Mordred yelled as she used her sword to knock Lancelot's gun off-target! Fortunatley Ishtar was caught by Medusa on Bellerophon, who had observing the fight from above, just in case something had gone wrong.
"Ishtar, retreat! We can't afford to lose you!" Ritsuka cried, Ishtar and Medusa promptly retreating through a golden portal while Lancelot was distracted. However, the berserker simply returned his focus to Mordred, again fighting with his staff as he forced Mordred back with not only his skill, but sheer ferocity! "Mordred, behind you!" The blonde saber broke off and rolled away just before Excalibur Morgan could run her through! As it was, Saber Alter's blade ended up clashing with Lancelot's staff instead.
"Arthur...?" Lancelot grunted in confusion.
"Lancelot? Is that you...?!" Saber Alter's eye widened slightly in realization.
(Wait, that's it!) Ritsuka got an idea. "Mordred, go into spirit form! Now!"
"Dammit!" Mordred cursed, even as she did as ordered, Lancelot looking around in confusion.
"Papa!" Mash called to her 'father', "That Saber in dark armor is the real King Arthur!"
"Ar... ARRRTHUUUURRR!" the berserker screamed in rage, attacking the blackened Artoria with renewed ferocity!
"NO! Lancelot, what are you doing?!" Saber Alter cried in distress as she parried frantically! "Stand down!" But Lancelot refused to listen, knocking his opponent flat on her back, who barely rolled away before he could impale her! Saber Alter barely managed to right herself as Lancelot savagely assaulted her once more...
(No way am I missing an opportunity like this!) Mordred thought as she rematerialized, Lancelot's back to her. Raising up her sword she intoned, "I am no king, but I walk in the king's path... and I shall destroy my king's enemies!" Red-tinted lightning engulfed her blade... "CLARENT BLOOD ARTHUR!" She brought her sword down, sending a wide energy waves at the two combatants...
A command-spell sigil flashed over Lancelot, the berserker suddenly vanishing, leaving only Saber Alter in the beam's path! "NOOOOO! DAMN YOU, MORDRED...!" She screamed as the attack disintegrated her utterly, leaving no trace behind!
"Huh? W-where did Berserker go...?" Mash pondered.
"His Master called him back with a command seal," Yuki replied, standing next to Dantes.
"Kill stealer. I was just about to do the same thing," the Count of Monte Cristo muttered. "But I'll let it slide this time, given it was your father..."
"Yeah, and where's Lancer at, the coward?" Mordred muttered as she dismissed her sword and armor.
"I think he was staying with Kyon and Koizumi, just in case," Ritsuka pointed out. "Speaking of which, we should go check on them..."
Unbeknownst to him and the others, however, an auburn-haired North High student had been secretly watching the battle, said student withdrawing and heading back to her own school...

"Mmmmnnn..." Haruhi moaned as she slowly roused, soon realizing she was laying on a bench. As her vision re-focused, she realized someone was leaning over her... instinctively she lashed out with her fist, catching the person in the face!
"OW! My nose!" Cu Chulainn recoiled, putting his hands over his face.
"Yep, she's awake, all right," Kyon deadpanned.
"Sorry, Lancer, but she likely would have done the same to me," Koizumi shrugged and smiled.
"Now you tell me!" Cu groaned, still holding his nose. "Girl hits pretty damn hard...!"
"Well next time, don't hover over me like a pervert!" Haruhi asserted as she sat up. Feeling a twinge of pain in her arm, Haruhi reached up with her other hand and realized it had been bandaged. "Okay, first of all, why the hell did you stab me, Kyon?!"
"It was to sever the contract with your corrupted servant," Koizumi answered in Kyon's stead. "I feared she was having a negative influence on your disposition..."
"Koizumi's right," Kyon nodded, Rule Breaker laying on the table next to him. "This magic blade was from Nagato-san's Caster, if you were wondering..."
"I wasn't corrupted!" Haruhi protested. "I could handle Saber just fine! You just want that Holy Grail for yourself, don't you?!"
"Ah, actually, the grail is a fake, or so I've been informed," Koizumi shook his head. "You know how that saying goes: 'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.'"
"A fake?!" Haruhi gasped. "Wait, who told you that?!"
"Future Me, you there?" Kyon requested.
"I'm here," a holo-screen materialized, showing the older Kyon. "Yo, Haruhi, long time no see."
"Huh...?!" Haruhi's eyes went wide. "W-wait, FUTURE you...?!"
"Yeah, I know it's hard to believe, but about fourteen years from now, I join a group of time-travelers working to preserve history," the older Kyon stated. "And just so you know I'm not pulling your leg... Dr. Archaman, could you come here?"
"Right..." Kyon's image was replaced with Roman's. "I'm Dr. Romani Archaman, acting director of Chaldea. To make a long story short, a sinister foe has scattered fake Holy Grails throughout history in order to corrupt it for their own designs. Our job is to retrieve these Grails and restore the proper flow of history..."
"N... no way..." Haruhi looked about to pass out from shock. "R... real time travelers?! They really exist?!"
"I was a bit shocked, myself," Koizumi nodded. "Especially that someone as average as Kyon-kun had joined their ranks..."
"I know what you mean, believe me," the younger Kyon nodded. "I didn't believe it until Future Me told me something that only I would've known..."
"One of your deep, dark secrets, huh?" Haruhi deadpanned. Taking a breath to calm herself, she then said, "Okay, so Saber was corrupted because of this fake Grail, is what you're saying?"
"Actually, a Holy Grail War should never have occurred in your city to begin with," Roman pointed out. "Not to mention, you and Koizumi-san were supposed to go to the same high school as Jo- (ahem) I mean, Kyon-san..."
Haruhi raised an eyebrow at that, but decided to let it slide. "Really... so, that new Master that showed up with multiple servants, he's one of you guys?"
"That's right," another voice spoke up, the others turning to see Ritsuka approaching with Yuki, Mash, Mordred and Dantes. "Koizumi was adamant that you stayed out of harm's way, and I agreed."
"Hello again, Suzumiya-san," Yuki nodded.
"So... you're actually Yuki from the future, then?" Haruhi asked.
"Correct."
"You don't seem as expressive as Yuki from here, though," Haruhi pointed out.
"In the proper history, I have trouble properly expressing my emotions," Yuki acknowledged.
"That doesn't mean she doesn't have emotions, mind you," the future Kyon spoke up. "Believe me, I know..."
"So what about me, then?" Haruhi asked.
"Sorry. Classified information," the older Kyon deadpanned. "Besides, wouldn't you rather find out for yourself?"
"...Good point," Haruhi nodded curtly. "Okay, I'm in. What do we need to do?"
"We have to dispatch the remaining servants here, save one," Koizumi explained. "Once that is done, the Grail should appear... but we must not wish on it."
"Right, because that could destroy all of history," Roman spoke up. "Before you panic, I should mention that we've already successfully resolved several other singularities caused by false Grails... And this one is rather tame in comparison to others."
"Yeah, the last major singularity had a lot of bloodshed," Ritsuka nodded grimly. "I'd like to avoid that here if at all possible..."
"Well, I got to blast that fake Father into oblivion, so I'm good with no more deaths," Mordred sighed.
"Father? But wasn't Saber a girl?" Haruhi tilted her head in confusion.
"Here, let me introduce you to the others," Ritsuka offered, he and the others taking a seat...
*Back at North High...*
"Saber is dead?" Kimidori said, nonplussed.
"Yeah, the servants from that foreign Master ganged up on her," Mikuru Asahina nodded. "Berserker tried to help, and he managed to seriously hurt that flying goddess, but I think his Master called him back before he was killed..."
"Hah! It seems Berserker has done us a favor, then!" Gilgamesh grinned. "Serves Ishtar right!"
"Um, but that one servant in the fedora and dark cloak seemed really powerful, and fast," Mikuru pointed out. "E-even Archer might have t-trouble with that one..."
"We shall see about that!" Gilgamesh scoffed. "He seemed quite intimidated by my presence when Master and I first confronted them!"
"So maybe Archer handles that one, and I handle the rest?" Iskandar spoke up. "After all, they turned tail and ran last time I confronted them! And I haven't even used my full power yet!"
"Just remembers, no humans should die, nyoro," Tsuruya cautioned. "I don't feels like having mega bloods on my hands..."
"In war, casualties are inevitable," Iskandar stated. "Still, killing children would leave a bad taste in my mouth... so no promises, but I'll try not to inflict any lethal wounds on students."
"I suppose that's the best we could hope for," Asakura nodded.
"Oh, that reminds me!" Mikuru snapped her fingers. "I think I saw Kyon-san with Koizumi-san, too!"
"What?!" the human Yuki gasped. "B-but, Kyon-kun said he wasn't captured...!"
"Yes, but Itsuki Koizumi can be a smooth talker," Kimidori countered. "It's possible that he deceived Kyon-san with honeyed words... it might also be how he was able to ally himself with the foreign Master..."
"So he's manipulating thems for his own benefits, nyoro?" Tsuruya pondered.
"It's certainly possible," Asakura nodded. "So, let's brainstorm how we can best fight against these servants..."
And so they huddled together to discuss tactics, though Gilgamesh just vanished into spirit form...
*To be continued...*
