Chapter 9

Noctis walks out into an open field. "I don't care what anybody says. I won't go back. What would it prove, anyway? It won't change anything, you can't change the past." Noctis was saying. He looked up at the stars.

"You said you'd always be there for me, but you're not. And it's my fault. It's my... fault." Noctis said.

"How long have you been dwelling on the past." said a deep calm voice.

Noctis turns around to see a wood colored lion with cedar colored mane. "It's nice to see you again, Your Majesty."

"Who are you?" Noctis asks.

"I am Cor Leonis. I once held the son of Somnus." Cor said.

"You knew my father?" Noctis asked.

"Yes. Now come. I have something to show you." Cor said as he walked through dark dense foliage. Noctis follows.

The lions ended up in front of a pond.

"What do you see?" Cor asked Noctis.

"Just my reflection." Noctis answers.

"Look harder." Cor told him.

Cor touched the water with the tip of his paw and ripples started moving across the water. Noctis stared into the water and soon he saw his father's reflection.

"He lives in you." Cor said.

"Noctis..." a familiar deep voice said.

"Father?" Noctis said as he heard his father's voice. He looks up to see a cloud formation shaped as a lion. Shaped as his father, Somnus.

"Noctis, have you forgotten me?"

"No! How could I?" Noctis said.

"You have forgotten who you are, and so, have forgotten me."

"How can I go back? I'm not who I used to be." Noctis said.

"Remember who you are, you are my son and the one true king."

Somnus' appearance and voice started to fade away.

"No! Please! Don't leave me! Father!" Noctis said.

"I have never left you and never will."

Somnus' voice and appearance was gone. Noctis stood there in the quiet night.

"May I ask you again, Noctis, who are you." Cor said.

"I am Noctis Lucis Caleum. Son of Somnus Lucis Caleum." Noctis said.

"And where are you off to." Cor asked.

"I'm going back to take my kingdom." Noctis said. He started running back to the Pride Lands.
