Sorry about the lack of an update the last couple of days, I got really busy at work but I have tomorrow off so I will update another chapter then!

Allison117: There were times in the show when I loved Angel and Xander's relationship because of the banter. I loved it when Xander accused Angel of checking out his neck. Haha I think if given the chance, they could have had a very entertaining friendship.

Chapter 11:

Buffy walked up to the sidewalk in front of The Espresso Pump, she glanced around before she spotted Angelus sitting at one of the tables with two coffees sitting on the table. She had gotten a call from him that morning asking her to meet him here around lunch time, of course, she reminded him that no one cool had lunch dates, but he had just laughed and said he would see her there. She smiled as she approached the table. "Hey you."

"You're late." He gave her a small smile before kissing her softly. "I guess I should have picked you up."

Buffy shrugged. "Dawn has a play date today so I couldn't use my mom's car."

"We need to get you a car." He narrowed his eyes at her playfully.

Buffy just shook her head, there was no way she could afford a car. She was blessed not to have to pay bills since she was still living at home, but she didn't know what college would hold for her and she had been saving up most of her paychecks just in case something didn't go as planned. "Okay, so what's up?"

Angelus shrugged, looking around him as if he was looking for someone. "Nothing, I mean I went in and officially quit my job this morning and Xander was still up in the air about quitting, but he went anyway. The boss was mad that we had said we would be in church every Sunday and told Xander if he wasn't at church then he needed to be working since I was the second lifeguard to quit. Xander isn't very happy about having to work today but he is there."

"Xander is working?" Came the voice of the blonde's best friend. Buffy whipped her head around to find Willow standing just a few feet from them. "I got a text from him this morning telling me to meet him here."

Buffy looked between her best friend and her boyfriend, confused, before Angelus smiled at the redhead. "You can hang out with us." He suggested. "Why don't you go order something?"

Willow frowned as she looked up at the menu posted behind the counter. "Okay, if you guys don't mind."

Buffy watched Willow make her way over to the counter. "Okay, what's that about?" The blonde leaned closer to him. "I love Will, but you just invited her to stay during our loser day date."

Angelus laughed, kissing Buffy quickly. "It's not our day date. I may have stolen Xander's phone this morning long enough to text Willow to meet here."

Buffy raised her eyebrow at him. "Okay, so you wanted Willow to meet you? Why did you call me?"

"I wanted to spend time with you." He reached out to hold her hand. "And I didn't want her to meet me, I dragged Oz with me, he's in the bathroom. So, if you think about it, it's their loser day date that neither one of them knows is happening."

Buffy's eyes got large. "You set them up?!"

Angelus shrugged. "I figured they needed more time to get to know each other and he's leaving tonight so this was really the only chance they would have."

Buffy pouted but it soon turned into a smile. "I'm so proud! Does he really have to leave tonight though? He's going home on your dad's plane, right? Doesn't that mean that they can go home whenever?"

"Sam… the drummer." He offered just in case she didn't remember which one he was. "He said a friend of his wants them to play at one of his parties."

"But does Oz REALLY have to go?" Buffy sighed. "This is the first time in a long time that Willow has liked someone, and I'm pretty sure it's the first time in her life that someone isn't Xander."

"I'll keep working on him." Angelus smiled as Oz made his way back to the table putting his cell phone in his pocket. "Hey man, you were gone for a while."

Oz nodded. "My Aunt Maureen called, said my cousin Jordy wants me to visit sometime."

"They still back home?" Angelus asked as his friend took his seat where the second coffee was sitting at the table.

Oz nodded, looking down at his cooling coffee before taking a drink of it. "I don't think they will ever leave."

"Alright." Buffy smiled, pushing herself up from the stool she was sitting in. "I'm going to go grab something."

Angelus pulled his wallet out of his back pocket and started to pull some money out. "Here…"

"No." Buffy gently pushed his wallet towards him, kissing him quickly. "Don't worry about it, it's not a date. I'll be right back." The blonde made her way over to the counter where her best friend was waiting for her order. "Hey, Will. What are you doing?"

"Just waiting for my stuff." The redhead told her. "I know they normally would bring it to me, but I didn't want to interrupt your date more than I already have."

Buffy shook her head with a small laugh. "It's not a date, Will. I'm just going to order something and then we can both go sit down, okay?"

"It's really not a date?" Willow asked as Buffy waited for the cashier to come back over to take her order.

The blonde shook her head again. "He asked me to meet him here, no mention of a date."

After placing her order the two girls turned around to head back to the table then the redhead froze, grabbing for the blondes arm multiple times before actually gripping it in her hand. "Is… is… is that Oz?"

"Why, yes." Buffy smiled, looking from Oz to Willow. "Yes, it is."

The redhead gasped. "Buffy, did you do this?"

"No!" The blonde exclaimed but kept her voice down, receiving a stern look from Willow. The blonde knew that look very well, it was what they called Willow's resolve face. "Seriously, it wasn't me." She paused for a second before continuing. "It was all Angelus."

"Did you tell him that I like Oz?" Willow panicked.

"Maybe?" Buffy said softly, looking around the coffee shop at the people placing their orders and taking their seats, before she turned back towards Willow. "But only after he told me that Oz likes you."

The redhead paused, breathing frantically as she stared straight forward in shock. It was hard to even think that someone might like her.

"Will…" Buffy placed her hand on the redhead's arm. "Calm down. Take a deep breath." She gave her friend a moment to calm down. "Now, we are going to go back over to that table and sit with those two hotties and you are going to get to know Oz better before he has to leave."

"Leave?" Willow questioned.

Buffy sighed, she hated that her best friend finally met someone that she liked, and he had to leave because he lives in another state. "The band has a gig, but Angelus said he is working on Oz to come live here still." Buffy glanced back at the woman that had taken her order and motioned towards the table to let her know where they were going to be, before guiding her friend back to the table.

The two girls sat at the table with the two men, Willow smiled shyly. "Oz."

"Willow." Oz raised his eyebrows when he realized Willow was there. "Hi."

Willow looked nervous and turned to Buffy for help. The blonde turned to Angelus, she wanted to get Oz and Willow talking but she didn't know Oz well enough to know what to talk about. So, she said the only thing that came to mind. "So, Oz, how 'bout them Cowboys?"

"Cowboys?" The ginger man asked, looking from the blonde to his long-time friend, who was trying to hold back a laugh.

Buffy nodded. "Yeah, you know. The football team."

"I wouldn't know." Oz shrugged.

Angelus smiled at Buffy. "Oz isn't really into sports, he would rather read a book."

"What a coincidence!" Buffy smiled turning towards her best friend. "Willow likes books too!"

Willow nodded, smiling back at the blonde teasingly. "I legitimately like books, I don't just pretend to like them."

Buffy laughed as the two men looked at each other confused. "I like books! Just, I wasn't really into Emily Dickinson."

Willow turned towards the redhead and brunette across the table. "Buffy once pretended that she was a fan of Emily Dickinson to get a date."

"Everyone does it!" Buffy exclaimed, before turning her attention to the guys. "Like you haven't pretended to like something because of a girl! It works! I got the date." The blonde paused, turning back towards her best friend. "Actually, Cordelia got that date, didn't she?"

"Wait." Oz glanced at Angelus before turning towards the blonde. "You got the date, but Cordelia got the date?"

Buffy took a deep breath and nodded. "It was supposed to be my date, but my mom was running late from work and I was watching Dawn. By the time I got to The Bronze, he was dancing with Cordelia."

Angelus shook his head, mumbling. "Stupid ass."

Oz eyed his friend with a teasing look before turning towards the two women. "That's Angelus for 'he should have waited all night for you.'"

Buffy raised her eyebrows at Oz. "Really?"

"I speak Angelus." Oz told the blonde.

Angelus nodded with a small smile. "Fluently."

Buffy smiled at the dark-haired man before turning her attention back to his friend. "So, Oz, what do you do on your free time?"

"We practice." The redhead nodded. "A lot."

Angelus laughed at his friend's short answer, he was always famous for not going into much detail. "He's convinced that they have to practice a lot or they will suck."

"No." Buffy shook her head. "You guys definitely don't suck."

"I haven't gotten to hear the band yet." Willow shrugged, she would have liked to hear them and if Buffy had been at the showing then she was sure that she would have invited her.

"You should come over today and hear us." Oz suggested, motioning towards his friend to indicate that he meant Angelus' house. "I mean, we are leaving today but we have a little time."

Angelus and Buffy shared a smile, as the barista brought over the girls drinks. Angelus was surprised that Oz had suggested Willow go to the house to listen to The Dingoes music, it was out of character for him, but Angelus was happy that he did it. Buffy and Angelus moved their stools closer to each other to allow the two redheads to talk as they all finished their drinks.

Willow smiled excitedly as the band played one of their songs, it was like her own private concert, they had set up their instruments in the corner of Angelus' living room where there was the most space. The other members of the band looked at it as having extra band practice, but Devon had grumbled about Cordelia not coming over with the two girls, he figured since they were still in Sunnydale then he still had a chance to finally sleep with her. For some reason, the other day, Cordelia had been perfectly content with just making out with him and a look passed over her features, that almost looked like relief when Xander had called her name and she quickly ran downstairs.

When Cordelia had left with Xander to go shopping, Devon's next play was to try to capture Buffy's attention. Again. For some reason the blonde just wasn't biting, which he found odd until he realized just how into Angelus she was. The couple were always hanging all over each other and kissing, he was sure that was what they were doing now but he wasn't sure because they had left the room about twenty minutes ago.

"Mmmm." Buffy moaned as Angelus pulled away from her lips, a smirk played on his lips as she loosened her arms from around his neck but didn't completely remove them. "This is nice."

"Yeah, it is." He whispered, kissing her again. "I like having alone time with you."

"Alone time is good." She whispered back, swiveling slightly on the kitchen bar stool she was sitting on, causing her thighs to lightly tap Angelus' legs as he stood between hers. Sliding her hands from around his neck, down to his chest, she smiled at the feel of him. She could feel herself falling very hard and very fast for him, and the need for more alone time was getting to be stronger. She couldn't believe that just a few days ago they had their first date! She felt a connection with Angelus that she had never felt with anyone before, which reminded her of the deal she had made with her mother. Her mother had reminded her this morning that she wanted Angelus to come over for dinner, she knew she needed to make this dinner happen, and soon. Her mother had commented on the scene that she had walked in on and the fact that it looked serious. The older woman's comment had reminded her that she had told her mother that it would be a long time before she was serious enough with Angelus to take that next step, but when she had said that she was basing it on her past relationships. But she didn't have these intense feelings for any other guy that she was having for Angelus. "You know, we still have to have that dinner with my mom."

Angelus nodded, but didn't say anything.

"You know…" Buffy shrugged. "when you have time."

Angelus smiled, shaking his head. "I quit my job, I have nothing but time. I was just thinking though, once I meet your mom then you can meet my parents."

"Which means a trip to Texas?" She raised her eyebrows.

"Yeah." He nodded before quickly glancing over his shoulder when he heard the guys laughing in the living room. "I mean, you're still okay with that, right?"

"Totally!" She exclaimed. She was a little nervous at the thought of meeting his family. She was sure he had been nervous about meeting her family too, but she just had her mother and little sister. Dawn already thought the world of Angelus, her little sister had told her this morning that it wasn't about the gifts that Angelus brought, it was about him playing with her and being nice to her. That had made Buffy feel a lot better about how excited Dawn got about seeing Angelus. But, on her end, she had to meet his mother, his father and his teenage sister! Meeting a teenager was much more intimidating than meeting a six year old! "When did you plan on going to see them?"

Angelus shrugged. "I don't really have a set date. My mom is bugging for it to happen soon."

The blonde took a deep breath. "Soon."

"I was thinking, if Doyle isn't able to come here before we get there then maybe Cordelia could come with us." He shrugged. "Then she could meet him."

"Sounds like a plan." Buffy nodded, then playfully pouted. "Except for the part that is missing which is the actual plan of when, but at least we know who."

Angelus laughed as he kissed her. "Soon, but not too soon. I want you to myself for a little while before my family scares you away. I would say a couple of weeks, but I don't think that is long enough for us."

"It would feel like just a couple of days." She shook her head, kissing him again. Angelus' hand slowly went up the back of her shirt, just feeling his gentle touch on her lower back sent shock waves through her and she could feel her face begin to flush and a swirling heat in her stomach. It was a feeling she had never had before, but since meeting Angelus, it was happening often, especially when she felt his hands on her. Without thinking, she pulled away from him. "Wanna have dinner with my mom tonight?"

"If it's okay with your mom, we can do it tonight." He smiled down at her.

Playing with the buttons on his shirt, she smiled. "It would totally be okay with her." Kissing him one more time, she smiled brightly. "I'm going to go call her and let her know!"

Angelus laughed as he stepped away from her and she jumped down from the bar stool she had been sitting on.

"You have technically already met her, so the hard part is over." Buffy smiled up at him as they stood on her front porch. After she had called her mother earlier, Buffy went home to clean up and help her mother with getting things ready for dinner with Angelus.

After Oz, Devon and the rest of the guys had left, Angelus showered and started to get ready to meet his girlfriends' mother. The longer he had to think about meeting her the more nervous he got. Their original meeting may have been brief but it wasn't exactly a good impression. "Yeah, and the fact that my hand was up your shirt at that very moment doesn't make this any easier."

Buffy let out a quiet laugh, she couldn't help but think he was adorable. "I think it went extremely well considering."

"Considering I was groping her daughter on her couch while her youngest daughter was asleep upstairs?" Angelus looked towards the Summers front door, wondering how tonight was going to go. "Yeah, I would say it went better than well." His voice dropped and he sounded like his mind was somewhere else. "She's probably in there plotting my death."

"Don't be silly!" She swatted him, with a serious look on her face. "She's a Summers' woman, the plot has already been made, she's just waiting to execute it."

His eyes snapped down to meet hers to find that she now had a smile playing on her lips. "That's not funny."

"It was a little funny." She challenged him before grabbing his hand and turning towards the front door. "Come on, I will protect you."

So far, dinner had gone extremely well. No knives were thrown at his head and as far as he knew, there was no poison in his food, but to be on the safe side Buffy tasted the food from his plate first to prove a point before laughing uncontrollably. Dawn had joined them for the first half of dinner until Joyce saw how much her youngest daughter was hanging all over the young man and how much he doted on her to the point that no one else even got a word in. After Dawn had finished eating her grilled chicken and potatoes, Joyce sent her upstairs to play so that she could get to know Angelus. Dawn had refused to go play until Angelus promised to go to the park with her and Buffy the next day.

"You just finished your Freshman year in college?" Joyce asked Angelus as she took a bite of her chicken.

"Technically." He nodded. "It was my first year at Sunnydale University, but I had already taken classes back home."

"That's right." Joyce shook her head, remembering the conversation she had with her daughter. "Buffy mentioned something about a duel enrollment."

"Yes, ma'am." He nodded again. "I got my associates and bachelor's degree while I was in high school."

"That's really impressive." Joyce smiled at him, she could tell why her daughter liked him so much. He was very polite and clearly educated, not to mention Dawn seemed to love the young man. "What made you want to do that?"

"Both of my parents are big on education and I guess it just rubbed off on me." Angelus shrugged. "Also, my dad is British."

Buffy laughed, leaning her chin on his shoulder. "Like that explains everything."

Angelus laughed, turning to look at the blonde. "When you meet him, you will understand."

Joyce looked between the two on the other side of the table. "When will you be meeting him?"

Buffy shrugged. "We don't know specifics yet. I was going to check with you to see when a good time would be, you know, with Dawnie."

"You don't want to take her with you, do you?" Joyce asked seriously.

Buffy burst out laughing. "What? No! I mean, if you would need me to watch her. Why would we take Dawn with us?"

"Well, she seems to be completely smitten with Angelus." Her mother smiled.

Buffy nodded. "And I'm sure that has nothing to do with the art easel that he got her."

"Oh, I'm sure!" Joyce laughed. "She wouldn't stop talking about it earlier today. She was telling her friend all about it." She looked towards Angelus. "You really didn't need to do that, but she absolutely loves it, so thank you."

"I just wanted to do something for her that I thought she would like." Angelus said, taking a drink of his water. "I like doing stuff with her, she's a great kid."

"Even playing Barbie's?" Buffy teased him.

Joyce laughed, causing her daughter to laugh too. "You played Barbie with her? I'm sure she loved that!"

"Oh, she did!" Buffy laughed, taking a bite of her food. "I had to show him some mercy and suggest that she painted some. Oh, by the way, do you know that girl wants a puppy? The best part is that she wants me and you to take care of it."

Joyce let out a sigh, shaking her head. Dawn often asked for pets, but they just didn't have the time to take care of one. "I hope you told her no."

"Oh, believe me. I did!" Buffy laughed. "Could you imagine? Dawn is a ball of energy all by herself."

Joyce laughed along with her daughter. "She would be running through the house with the dog knocking everything over. I really don't want to imagine it. Anyway…" The older woman turned her attention back to the young man. "Angelus, Buffy had mentioned that you are a lifeguard. How do you like that?"

"Well, actually. I quit." He told her, nodding his head.

Joyce eyed the young man for a moment. "So, you are unemployed now?"

"Technically." Angelus answered, unsure if telling his girlfriend's mother that he didn't have a job was the best idea. "I just felt like with our conflicting schedules, it would be easier to spend time with Buffy if I wasn't working at the pool."

"How do you support yourself then?" Joyce shook her head.

"Mom." The blonde mumbled. "That's not really any of your business."

The older woman eyed her daughter. "I think it is if you two will be dating."

Buffy narrowed her eyes at her mom. "No, not really."

"It's okay, Buffy." Angelus smiled at the blonde before turning to her mother. He thought she would have told her mother about his family already. "My father actually owns a fairly successful company in Texas, when I decided to leave home and attend college here, I was given access to the funds that my parents have been setting aside for me."

"Fairly successful?" Buffy shook her head and let out a chuckle. "Nice choice of words."

Joyce nodded her head, realizing that his family must be very successful. "So basically, you are a trust fund baby?"

"Mom, again, not really your business." Buffy stepped in again, she didn't like the vibes she was getting from her mom and this conversation.

"I'm just trying to get to know him, Buffy." She motioned towards Angelus. "Isn't that what this dinner was supposed to be about."

"Yeah." Buffy nodded, crossing her arms over her chest. "But you don't need to know everything. This should be 'Oh, he doesn't appear to be a serial killer or itching for his next fix' and we move on."

"Buffy, really." Angelus placed his hand on Buffy's arm. "I don't mind." He turned his attention back to Joyce. "I guess you could say that I am a trust fund baby, I don't have to work to earn a living but that doesn't mean that I won't." Buffy smiled at him as he talked to her mother, he was so unphased by the way her mother was questioning him. Maybe she was reading too much into how her mother was acting. "I have always liked working, no matter what the job has been in the past. I have actually been a lifeguard before and even though I enjoy the job, I enjoy spending time with your daughter more."

Joyce smiled at the young man before taking a sip of her drink. "Well, that makes one of us then. If I didn't have to work, then I wouldn't."

"And you didn't for most of my life." Buffy reminded her mother.

Joyce nodded. "That is true, unless you count caring for that big house, a job."

"Well, now that's Angelus' job." The blonde smiled as she turned towards her boyfriend.

Joyce looked between the pair, slightly confused. "What do you mean?"

"Oh." Buffy paused for a moment, she could have sworn she had mentioned it to her mother already. "Angelus is living in the house on Crawford Street."

Joyce's eyes got large with surprise. Why on earth did a college student need such a big house?

"You're an angel." Buffy smiled as she sat on the swing, on her front porch, next to Angelus. She brought her legs up and curled them under her. "I think you handle my mom better than I do."

Angelus shrugged. "It really didn't bother me, but I would really like your mom to like me."

"I will get the full report after you leave." She let out a sigh. "She didn't scare you away, Dawn will be happy about that."

"Just Dawn?" He asked, smiling down at her.

Buffy nodded with a teasing smile before she kissed him. "How long can you stay?"

"As long as you want me to." He whispered, kissing her again.

"Mmm." She mumbled as he kissed her. "That sounds good to me."

"So?" Buffy asked her mother as she walked into the kitchen where her mom was doing the dishes. "What do you think?"

Joyce turned to look at her daughter, setting a newly washed plate down on the counter. "You were out there for a while."

The blonde shook her head as she walked over, taking a dirty plate from her mother. "I'll do those, as long as you tell me what you think."

Joyce stepped back from the kitchen sink with a small smile. "I like him."

"Really?" Buffy smiled at her, watching her mother walk towards the kitchen door. "That's all your giving me?"

Joyce turned around to look at her daughter, smiling, and nodded. "Yup."

Buffy shook her head as she turned her attention to the dirty dishes from dinner.

Buffy ran over to her bed, grabbing the ringing phone from her bedside table before it woke up anyone else in the house. "Hello?" She whispered.

"Yo, B!" Came a familiar voice.

"Oh my god!" The blonde exclaimed in a hushed voice. "Faith, why haven't you returned my phone calls?!"

The other girl laughed into the phone. "What do you think I'm doing right now?"

"When you left you said that you would call." The blonde reminded her.

"And I'm calling right now." Her dark haired friend told her.

"I have so much to tell you!" Buffy gushed into the phone. "But first, when are you coming home?"

The brunette took a deep breath. "Wow, right into the heavy stuff, huh, B?"

"Yes!" Buffy exclaimed. "Because I miss you and it's just not the same here without you."

"Soon." Faith smirked.

Buffy pouted at her friend's response. "No definite date? Mom and Dawnie really miss you too."

"Oh, come on." Faith teased with a smirk. "Don't bring Little into this."

Buffy smiled, she knew that Dawn was a soft spot for Faith no matter how tough she tried to act.

"Well, come one, B." Faith smiled, plopping down on the bed in the hotel room she had been living in. "You said you have so much to tell me. Spill."

Buffy bit her lip, she was excited to tell Faith about Angelus. "I met someone!"

"What!?" Faith shot up on the bed in shock. "What happened to being done with guys?"

Buffy shrugged as she got more comfortable on her bed. "I was all set on being done with guys and then I saw him. He's perfect, Faith."

"Okay." Faith smiled. "Tell me about Mr. Perfect."
