Bright law237: Time for the next chapter. Oh yeah forgot to mention in the last chapter, but I only own Brightclaw.

I wake up to the sound of knocking on my hotel door. I sit up it bed dazed as the knocking continues. I look over at the clock sitting on the nightstand next to my bed. "Who would be knocking at five thirty in the morning?" I ask as I tiredly rub the sleep out of my eyes.

'Would it be Brightclaw?' Slash asks me from his dino medal that is sitting on the nightstand.

'No, Brightclaw would pick the lock and wake me up herself as payback for the scare yesterday. I don't know who's at the door this time.' I tell Slash as I walk towards the door. The knocking grows louder and sounds more impatient. "Calm down, I'm on my way!" I shout as I feel a headache starting to come. I slowly open the door as I let out a large yawn. "Who is it?" I grunt, annoyed at being woken up so early.

"Took you long enough, Kaze." A familiar voice grumbles.

I blink at the voice, registering the fact that it belongs to Rosie. "Rosie, what are you doing here?!" I exclaim, very confused as to why the granddaughter of the man who owns the very island I'm living on is at my door.

Rosie quickly glances around the hallway she's in before speaking. "I can't let anyone know how weak I am, so don't act all buddy buddy with me when we're in public. Dr. Diggins was on his way here to give you your digging equipment, but I offered to do so in his place." She then whispers to me. "I wanted to ask if you would like to go with me to the first dig site?"

I look at her in confusion. "The first dig site, aren't you able to go to every dig site since you're a veteran fossil fighter?"

"Actually..." Rosie's face flushed pink with embarrassment, while she looks down at her shoes. "I may be good at fossil fighting, but I'm still a level one fighter like you." She tells me. "I haven't revived any other vivosaurs than my venator, and his fossils are located in the second dig site. So can you help me find another vivosaur partner?" Rosie asks.

I give Rosie a friendly smile. "Sure, I just need to get a different set of clothes on, and have some breakfast. I'll meet you by the docks at around seven."

"You may also want to take care of that bed head." Rosie snickers while pointing up at my hair.

"What?" I ask.

"Here take a look yourself." She giggles and pulls a pocket mirror out of the small satchel slung over her side. She opens it up and aims the mirror at my face.

My eyes widen at the sight of untamed hair. I look around for a brush to tame the wild mess of blue hair, all while Rosie is giggling at me. "Oh man, why didn't you say anything sooner?!"

Before Rosie can say anything, the sound of a nearby door opening sends her running to the elevator door. "Farewell, Kaze, do not forget that you will escort me to Greenhorn Plains at seven." Rosie says as she hurrying into the elevator as it's doors open.

While closing the door, I grab my suitcase that I had left by it. I walk over to my bed and place the suitcase on top of it. I then look around the room to see what it looks like. Its an average hotel room with your basic kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living room. By the bed are forest green curtains that are closed at the moment. The bed has four pillows with sky blue pillow cases, and a dark blue blanket with fossil patterns all over it.

I open my suitcase and pull out a change of clean clothes. I'm now wearing a blue t-shirt with bright orange trims around the neck sleeves and waist, with a bright orange sun on the front of the shirt. I put on a pair of dark gray shorts and finally put some white and gray socks on. I put my shoes on and grab Slash's dino medal from the nightstand. "Ready for some breakfast, Slash?" I ask.

'What do vivosaurs eat?' Slash asks.

"I actually don't know, we should probably ask Dr. Diggins about that." I say as I grab the key to my room. I head out of the door and lock it behind me.

"Are you ready to go get some food, Hunter?" Another familiar voice asks me.

I nearly jump out of my skin at the sound of the voice until I realize it's just Brightclaw. "You about gave me a heart attack, Bright." I gasp, catching my breath. Brightclaw is wearing a plain gray t-shirt and gray shorts. She has some sort of device attached to her wrist.

Brightclaw rolls her eyes at me. "Then be more alert, Hunter. Who knows what evil could be hidden on an island full of dinosaurs."

"You worry too much Brightclaw. Honestly, this island is perfectly safe." I tell her. "Now let's go get some breakfast." I say as I walk toward the elevator. Brightclaw mutters something under her breath, but I can't make out the words.

After having breakfast at a nearby café, Brightclaw and I head to the dock to meet up with Rosie. Its almost the time to meet after all, and Brightclaw promised not to cause any problems while we stay here on Vivosaur. I soon spot Rosie impatiently tapping her foot by the S. S. Shoni. When Rosie spots us, she doesn't look too happy, in fact she looks kind of angry. "Hey Rosie, ready to go to the dig site?" I ask as I walk up to her. Rosie doesn't say anything, but shoves something into my hands. "Huh, what's this thing?" I ask, looking at a small folded object in my hands.

"It's your pickax, and this is your sonar. They are essential tools for finding fossils." Rosie says as she hands me a large disc like object on a necklace.

"Cool, so this is like what submarines use to detect objects under the ocean, right?" I ask as I look at the object in wonder."

Rosie looks surprised for a moment. "Yes, you seem to know a little about technology. I'm quite surprised that you know what a sonar is." Rosie says as I put the necklace around my neck. I then place the folded pickax in my pocket.

"Well I was kind of the kid at the top of my class back home." I say with a sheepish smile on my face.

Brightclaw speaks as she walks past us onto the boat. "Despite the goofball Hunter is, he is smarter than he looks."

Rosie looks at Brightclaw in confusion. "I thought your dog could talk?" Brightclaw growls at being called a dog.

I then realize that Brightclaw has been speaking in doglish. "Oh, she's speaking in doglish." I tell Rosie.

"Doglish, what kind of made up word is that?" Rosie asks with a flat stare.

"It's the language that all canines speak, but some humans are born with the ability to understand the language. I'm one of the lucky few outside a certain kingdom that can actually understand the language." I tell Rosie.

Rosie still seems skeptical about what I said as she stares past me at the canine in question. "What did she say then?"

"Oh, that despite how much of a goofball I am, I'm smarter than I look." I reply.

"Don't bother with the kittypet, Hunter! It's not like she'll ever understand a word I bark!" Brightclaw barks.

Rosie looks irritated, not understanding what the canine is saying. "Are you sure its safe for her come with us?" Brightclaw glares at Rosie in disdain.

Smiling, I take Rosie's hand and walk onto the boat. "We'll be safer having Brightclaw with us than without. Trust me, she would never harm her friends." I tell her.

Brightclaw snorts. "I don't make friends with twolegs."

I give Brightclaw a flat stare. "Are you kidding me, Bright? You really wanna go there?!" Brightclaw turns away with a prideful huff. "Fine, be that way. Just know that Rosie will be able to understand you with this." I reach into my backpack and grab a small earpiece. "Here, put this in your ear. You should be able to understand Brightclaw with it." I say as I place it in Rosie's hand.

Rosie pouts and pulls her hand away from mine as she puts the earpiece in her left ear. "Fine, but make sure to put her on a leash." Rosie says as she turns the translator on.

"Not gonna happen!" Brightclaw snarls from far away.

Rosie looks surprised, then looks around for Brightclaw. "I don't see her, where is she?"

"Probably far from all other humans." I sigh, not seeing Brightclaw either.

"How did she even hear me then?" Rosie asks.

"I have really good hearing thanks to my ears. I heard your stomping in the hotel at 5:24 this morning." Brightclaw barks from somewhere.

Rosie's face turns bright red, I can't tell if its from anger or embarrassment though. "Are you okay there Rosie?" I ask, my voice cracking with fear.

Rosie then explodes with absolute rage. "I WILL TURN THAT MISERABLE MUTT INTO A FUR COAT!" Rosie shouts at the top of her lungs.

"GO AHEAD AND TRY YOU PAMPERED KITTYPET!" Brightclaw howls from her hiding spot.

Elsewhere...

Brightclaw looks up at the sky from the top of the boat. 'She can try, but I am not a dog of any kind. Stupid pink kittypet twoleg.'

Rosie spends the entire boat ride looking for Brightclaw in her rage. Meanwhile I stayed with Capt. Travers to listen to his stories. Capt. Travers even showed me his own vivosaur a futabi. It looks like a plesiosaur with a dragon head, its underbelly is a dark gray while its main scales are dark orange, white, and peach.

"Take care you three, and be careful..." Capt. Travers' voice fades away as Rosie drags me through the dig site.

"Rosie, why are you dragging me across the dig site?" I ask.

"I need you to act as my bodyguard while I find a new fossil." Rosie says.

"Is that the only reason you brought me here?" I ask in a dry voice, slumping to the ground as Rosie continues to drag me by the hand.

"No, you said it before, we are friends." Rosie says.

"You have a funny way of showing your friendship, kittypet twoleg." Brightclaw barks, a neutral expression on her face.

Rosie stops dragging me, and I finally decide to get up. She still has a hold of my hand though. "What do you mean, dog?" Rosie asks.

"Again, I am not a dog, but a warrior. Another thing, you don't drag friends across the world." Brightclaw snarls.

Rosie looks down and sees our hands held together. Her face turns bright red and she lets go of my hand. "Sorry!"

"Its okay, lets find ourselves some more partners!" I exclaim as I activate my sonar. I soon see a blip on the screen right below me. "Time to start digging!" I smile, having my pickax unfold and expand in size to a normal pickax.

Brightclaw237: Miserable mutt is the nickname my late grandfather gave to our dog Bailey. He recently passed away the first of September due to COVID. It may seem like an insult to some dog lovers out there, but it is a special name for my dog that he always called her. I hope you all are safe out there. See you all in the next chapter.
