Chapter 2 s2: Good to be dog

Balto woke up in early morning, sun was just slowly rising up above sea. He shivered as cold wind stroked his fur, he left the shipwreck cabin and scratched on deck as he was watching raising sun. "I can feel thats gonna be interesting day..." Balto said to himself quietly as he looked back at the cabin. He yawned and looked at town of Nome, as its wakes to morning routine. "Okay, lets go prove that beeing dog doesn't suck" Balto said and jumped off his shipwreck into fresh snow, and started to run towards town.

As he entered town he took a big breath. "Ah yes, i can smell that butcher is already working" Balto smiled to himself. In past butcher wasnt a person who Balto would trust bu everything changed as he led sled with antibiotics to cure spreding illness among children, as it comes out at the end one of sick children was a daughter of old butcher. Balto know that girl well now, shes helping her father in their family business. As always balto made his way through main road just to sit next to window of butcher shop. He jumped on crate and watch butcher in action, day by day he do the same, he watch as long as butcher sees him. This time it was quite different butcher 's daughter noticed Balto. She opened the door and hold it for him. "Come in boy, its cold outside.." Her soft voice was as nice as Rosy's voice but a bit older. As Balto entered butcher shop girl closed the door. "Oh, our town hero visited my shop, im so pleased" He smile with a smile on hes face, as girl patted Baltos head. "What will you have today sir?" Girl said with laugh as she sat in front of wolfdog, she held out her hand to him, Balto placed hes paw on her hand and girl shaked it. "Its nice to make business with you sir." She laughed again after this act of goofing. She get up and take a slecial basket for special client, the basket contains leftovers of meat that cannot be eaten by humans and bones. She held that to Balto. "I hope you will like it i prepared it myself" Girl smiled nicely as Balto grabbed basket with hes mouth, at the end she petted him. "Okay Sara, let our guest go eat hes meal, and help me now sweetie" The old butcher said, Sara hold door for Balto, she waved at him and closed them after he left.

"Being dog sucks? I bet she won't say that when she see this basket" Balto said in hes mind. Balto picked next alley to go past Jenna's house, he wanted to talk to Jenna about problematic guest he has at hes shipwreck. "I hope Jenna is already up." Balto thought as he was making hes way down the street. "Oh hello Balto!" Balto knew this voice well, he heard that collar of dog behind him so many times that he was sure immediately whose standing behind him.

"Hello officer..." Balto turned to German Shepherd talking to him. "...Already on duty? Its still early... even for you" Balto laughed. "Heh, you know bad guys never rest, and so do i... I can se youre in hurry, and you seem worried.. is something on your mind that i can help with?" Dallas said as he was watching Balto and street. "Nah, im good but thanks for asking offic..." "Dallas, told ya to stick with Dallas" Dallas interrupted with a smile. "If you say youre good, im good. But if you will have problem let me help." He winked to Balto and went up the streat. "See ya later" Dallas said. "See ya" Balto said and grabbed hes basket, he sped up hes walking to make hes way to wreck faster. "This day is starting too well.." He thought.

At the end he finally mad hes way to Jennas house, lucky for him she was already waiting for him in front of her home. As they moved closer to each other they nuzzled. "Hi handsome" Jenna said as she was waving her tail. "Hello there my beautiful Husky" Balto smiled. "You seem to be in hurry? Is everything all right?" Jenna asked as they sit. "Not everything is alright... my sis is here." Balto said as he looked down on hes paws. "Isnt that great news? You havent seen her for so long.." Jenna said. "Yea and maybe thats the point.. I dont even know how to act with her around, and now she want to take me and Kodi for trip to Wolf Valley..." Balto said. "Umm i dont really know what to say Balto. Have you introduced her to Kodi?" Jenna asked. "Yea, they're sleeping on my shipwreck. "Maybe ill go with you to.." Jenna started. "No, not yet. I need to talk with her, and make some rules, for her safety." Balto said as he looked at hes love. "O..okay, at least tell me when i can meet your sister." Jenna said. "Ill send Kodi to tell you, okay?" Balto said as he get up. "Great. I cant wait to meet your sister" Jenna smailed and nuzzled Balto. "See you my love" They said.

Balto headed back to shipwreck and get on it with hes basket. It wasn't a big surprise for him that hes sister wasn't asleep anymore. "I was already up to go there to find you, or at least find guy who stopped you for so long" Lisa said sounding serious. "Better look what ive got" Balto said as he went into cabin. "Mornin' dad" Kodi said as he was scratching with yawn. "Mornin" Balto said as he sat and placed basket on wooden floor. "What is that? What you've done to that animal?" Lisa said as she looked into basket. "Humans gave me that, i told ya its good to be friend with them" Balto said. "Yea, we work, and care for each other and both sides have their benefits" Kodi said.
