Let's start with the story, shall we?*
Chapter 12
"HE DID WHAT?!"
Mizuki flinched at the loudness of the two females as they freaked out about the news, she gave them. When she came home, she went up to her room and contacted the two girls, her mother bringing her dinner.
At first, they scolded her for not contacting them in two days and then she was forced to tell them everything that happened over the past two days. She didn't even have time to ask them about their days.
"But man, I didn't expect Izuku to have a Quirk. I thought he was Quirkless! You said he sudden got it, right?" Rinako asked over the phone, sounding amazed. There was a snort from the other side, coming from Akira.
"Yeah, right. There's no way he's a late bloomer. Something's up. I've read hundreds of articles about Quirks emerging later in life. Moreover, his Quirk doesn't fit his parent's Quirks. I may be pulling at straws here, but he got it from somewhere," Akira said and Mizuki's eyes widened.
"Come on, Akira. That's not possible."
"Oh really? In a society where quirks popped out of nowhere, you think there won't be one that can be transferred? The world is filled with possibilities, Rinako," Akira told the female and Mizuki rubbed her temples. She could feel a headache forming.
She never even considered the possibility that he received the Quirk. Was it really possible? Could there be a Quirk that could be given? The thought was crazy, insane even. But not entirely impossible. Right?
"Well, whatever. He has a quirk now. Knowing what happened won't change that. I only hope that he and Katsuki sorted out their pity rivalry," Mizuki stated with a sigh. Katsuki seemed to be his normal self with his usual yelling in the house.
She waited for him at their usual 7/11 and bought them both ice pops. When he arrived, he was in his usual scowling mood. It didn't seem like what Izuku told him upset him and instead he was back to normal. It was reassuring even if it was only temporary.
"I honestly think they should grow up." Rinako's statement had Akira snorting in irony and Mizuki snickering in amusement. Rinako was the last person to speak up. Ironically. Nevertheless, she would never take it as far as her brother.
"My Brother? Mister Die! Die! Die-!""I heard that!" Mizuki chuckled when Katsuki yelled by her door and gave it a kick. He earned a shout from Mitsuki, scolding him not to kick anything because he was angry with the world.
"Was that him? Let me at him! Let me at him!"
"Calm down, Rinako. We'll have our chance with him…" Mizuki sweat dropped at Akira's dark tone. "Anyway, how was your fight? The one besides giving one of the recommended students a mouth full. Proud of you." Mizuki smirk proudly.
"I kicked the other recommended student's ass. He got me good, though. He broke my nose with a headbutt that I generously returned," Mizuki said and touched her nose in thought. "He was strong. He could use ice on his right side and heat on his left side. He froze the building in an instant."
"Holy…Who is this guy?!"
"Uh, I guess saying his name is Ice Bastard won't help, right? His name's Shoto Todoroki. He has white and red divided hair and even his eye colours differ. His costume is horrible though," Mizuki mused as she thought about the male.
"He sounds-""Hold up! You said his surname is Todoroki? Like the Todoroki? You're kidding me! Give me a moment… You guys go to your computers," Akira said and Mizuki raised an eyebrow. She stood up from her bed and went to her computer, switching it on.
She wondered why Akira was shocked. Todoroki? It didn't ring a bell. She had never heard of anyone important with the surname, Todoroki. He was a recommended student so she would understand that he could be famous.
Mizuki's eyes widened and she gasped when her home screen was blown up with a bunch of posts, tabs and images that appeared. Articles, videos and much more. Her red eyes scanned the image of a very familiar hero and she swallowed thickly.
"He's the youngest son of Todoroki Enji, the number two hero also known as Endeavor. I think I have an image…here you go… Oh gosh, this guy in incredibly hot. Mizuki, you lucky girl! To have your nose broken by such a beauty!" Akira dramatically stated and Mizuki paled slightly.
"Oh yes! I see possible candidate for Mizuki's first ever boyfriend! You'll have a bright future with the number two hero's son. You already made an impression, right? Finally! I've waited for this moment my entire life! Your kids are going to be so cute!" Rinako squealed.
Mizuki flushed a deep crimson, her heart beating heavy in her chest. "What are you-No! Guys, we're only in the same class. It's not like that at all. Why do you always have to overreact on stuff like this?" Mizuki stated in a disapproving tone.
"You can't blame us. You haven't had a boyfriend in forever. The only boy friend you have is Izuku and he'll be killed by Explodo-boy if he even thought about something romantic with his sister," Akira stated and Mizuki bit the inside of her cheek.
"We almost forgot about the guy at the entrance exam. You know, the knight in shining armour that caught Mizuki after her heroic act?" Rinako pointed out and Mizuki had her face darken at the mention of Eijiro.
"Enough about me! Geez… How was your day? Did Rinako fall asleep in class again?" Mizuki teased and received an exclaim from the said female. Akira chuckled from the other side of her line, enjoying Rinako's reaction.
"No, actually, she's been working hard in classes. She hasn't slept once," Akira answered and Mizuki gaped in disbelief. She couldn't believe it. Rinako was working hard? Was the world ending already?
"I can feel the judgement all the way over here. No, the world isn't ending. Yes, it's weird that I'm working hard. At least I'm staying under the radar. Akira hacked the entire Tokyo University's system on her first day!" Rinako said and Mizuki face palmed.
"What? I wanted to see if there was any possible hot-boy candidate that I needed to know about. I rounded it off to at least five guys who fit the criteria. Also, not my fault their system has a shitload of security holes. They're practically begging to be hacked," Akira said and Mizuki burst out laughing.
"Oh boy, I miss your craziness. We're still on for the karaoke next weekend?" Mizuki asked, hoping that nothing had come up in the meanwhile. She wanted to see them again, missing how they would hang out after school.
"You bet!"
"Yeah, I'll be there."
"Great! I'll see you then and I promise that I will answer your texts regularly. Miss you guys," Mizuki greeted and a soft smile rested on her lips. Akira and Rinako greeted her and send their love before ringing off.
Mizuki plopped down on her bed and let out a sigh. She felt a warm feeling reside within her chest and she couldn't help but smile. There were many challenges that lay ahead of her but she was excited to see them all through.
The next day…
Mizuki yawned as she walked next to her brother, on their way to school. She felt rested, despite the unusual yawning that held her occupied. Katsuki walked next to her, his mood sour from his morning session.
He was practically bullied by his sister to wear his clothing decently with his shirt tucked in, buttoned up and a tie around his neck. It was quite a fight but she had managed to make him appear acceptable. For how long it would last, she didn't know.
"Here are more students!" Mizuki glanced up and frowned, a vein popping out from under her skin when she saw hordes of news reporters standing by the gate of U.A. It was too early in the morning to deal with these people.
"Excuse me! I would like to ask you a few questions. Can you tell me about All Might-? Oh, wait, you're the one from the sludge villain accident and you must be his sister," the female reporter said and the twins growled dangerously.
"Shut up," they cut her off simultaneously and walked off, not giving anyone else any commentary. Luckily, Aizawa sorted the press out and the security system was activated, leaving them answerless and locked outside.
"Geez, they're a pesky bunch," Mizuki muttered underneath her breath as she sat down by her desk, already tired. She had experienced the terror of the media before when she had modelled once. Never again.
"Morning, Mizuki! I see you're here early and ready for the day!" Eijiro greeted as he entered the classroom and Mizuki gave him a faint smile. She didn't know what about her face looked like she was ready for anything.
Even so, she felt her mood increase at the bright and beaming expression of the male. Who would've thought that one person could make her feel better? Especially since her brother's scowling only made her feel worse.
"I was, until some reporter woman shoved her microphone down my throat," Mizuki snapped and the male paled at her overdramatic statement. His imagination made him see how it happened and that not long after, the woman would've been blown up.
"Yeah, that was a bit crazy. Everyone loves All Might. I guess they tried to get a bit of information since they know where he teaches. The media's been going crazy even since they heard he was teaching," Eijiro pointed out and Mizuki shrugged, not really caring.
"They're greedy, that's all."
Eijiro chuckled as her curt statement. Mizuki was always painfully honest about anything and it was a special trait she had. It pissed off a lot of people, true, yet he couldn't help but he entertained by her sassy side.
The rest of the class all started to arrive, Mizuki stifling at least three yawns before everyone was seated. She had received a curt nod from the Ice Bastard, not an actual greeting but it didn't bother her in the least.
Izuku came in at the last second, rushing in out of breath with his arm all healed up and out of the brace. She gave the credit to recovery girl. That woman could work wonders with only one kiss. Who would've thought?
Mizuki blinked a few times and recalled her designing of the previous day, turning slightly blue when she recalled that everyone saw her drafts. She shook her head and glanced at her book in her schoolbag.
The changes to the costumes could be made by going to the support department. She had something that she wanted to do there and made a mental note to go peek in at Lunch time. She could only cross her fingers that someone would be there.
Flashback
"You won't to improve Midoriya's costume?" Aizawa asked the female with a surprised gleam flashing in his eyes as he looked down at the ash blonde female. "Why his costume and not your own?"
"Oh, mine's perfect." He gave her a blank look. Mizuki pulled out her designing book and bit down on her lower lip. She didn't know if she had the guts to show him but she needed his approval before she could go ahead with her plans.
"Izu-kun can't control his quirk and his costume didn't have any supporting aspects," she opened up her designing book at the designated page and handed it over towards her homeroom teacher, his eyes lazily scanning the pages.
"If his costume was adjusted so that it could support his body from the strain of his Quirk, it would lower the chances that he would incapacitate himself and also won't lead to him constantly getting new one. That is, if we used the right materials," Mizuki replied.
"You…" He saw the brightness of her red eyes, confidence showing proudly. "I know that you're a childhood friend of him, but is this wise to help him?" He asked her and Mizuki cocked her head to the side.
"Of course. That boy is absolutely lost without a little guidance." Mizuki chuckled and put her hand on her hip. "We're all aspiring to become great heroes and I know that we're constantly competing against each other. Though, we're here to help others, right?" His brows knitted together.
"Besides, I don't have a problem to help the others with their costumes. They stole my book and read what I had to say about each of them. As long as my designing helps, then I want to make sure I can bring everyone on equal footing," Mizuki finished.
Aizawa paged through some of her sketches, noticing her brows twitching as he did so. He smirked and handed her back the book. "I'll let Power Loader know," he said and turned around, walking away.
"Thank you, Sensei!"
End of Flashback
"Morning. Good work on yesterday's combat training," Aizawa spoke up and Mizuki lazily glanced at their homeroom teacher. She wondered who looked more worn out. In the end, the answer was definitely the scruffy male.
"I saw the video and results. Bakugou, you're talented, so don't act like a kid." Mizuki gave her brother a smug smirk, a glare directed towards her instantly. He did not appreciate her silent criticism.
"And Midoriya, you settled it by breaking your arm again, huh? You can't keep saying you can't help it because you can't control your quirk. I don't like saying the same thing over and over. As long as you fix the control issue, there's a lot you'll be able to do. Feel the sense of urgency, Midoriya," he told the young male and Mizuki briefly closed her eyes.
She recalled the conversation she had with the girls the previous night. His Quirk didn't resemble any of his parents' Quirks, giving the possibility that he had received it. Akira was convinced of it while Mizuki was sceptical.
There were many things that were out of this world in their society and even the reality of superpowers was a bit farfetched. However, to be able to give superpowers? It was something she had never thought of.
Mizuki felt a headache form and rubbed her temples. She pushed the topic aside when they were talking but now it was bugging her. Could it be that it was indeed a quirk he received from someone or was it merely a coincidence?
Mizuki took in Izuku's figure as he sat diagonally from her. She was aware that he was hiding something from her. She just didn't know what. He noticed her star and gave her a small smile with a wave that she returned. Whatever, it was. He would tell her when the time was right.
"Now, let's get down to homeroom business." Mizuki smirked as she returned her attention to the front of the class. She hoped that he was going to do something interesting again. "Sorry about the late notice, but today, I'll have you decide on a class representative."
Boring. Mizuki thought with a sigh. She, unfortunately, seemed to be the only sane person who didn't yell out that she wanted that position. She glanced to her side, making eye contact with Izuku and he gave her a sheepish smile, also not expecting the outbursts.
Katsuki almost broke his desk into pieces by the force he hit the wood, his arm reaching the sky. Eijiro wasn't any better. He also had his hand high up in the air with his big, goofy grin plastered on his face.
Mizuki didn't get it. Why would anyone want to be class representative? It was pain in the ass job to take responsibility over an entire class. Not to mention, they would have to deal with the problem students all the time. She would kill them if they got on her nerves.
"Silence, please!" Iida spoke up over the entire class and Mizuki scoffed. He would be the perfect candidate. He was always loud and always scolded everyone about being punctual and respecting their seniors. The perfect idiot.
"It's a job with the serious responsibility of leading others. It's not a job for just anyone who wants to do it. It's a calling that requires the trust of those around you. If we want to use democracy to decide on a true leader, then we should hold an election to choose one," he said.
Clap… Clap… Clap…
Mizuki clapped slowly, and, in a way, sarcastically. Everyone's eyes landed on her, her eyes showing her boredom but her smirk never leaving her lips. She watched as the male look at her with an unimpressed expression.
"Great speech. Looks like we've got a class rep. Sensei, what's next on the agenda?" Mizuki said and everyone gaped. The entire class was thrown in silence at what had happened, Mizuki unfazed by the looks of disbelief she was receiving. Izuku paled at her guts while Katsuki merely stared at his sister. Aizawa blinked slowly and glanced down at his clipboard.
"Let's see-""He's continuing?!"
"Wait! We haven't officially decided yet! Let's have a vote!" Mizuki groaned and let her head fall forward onto her chest. Seriously? They still wanted to do this? It was going to be a pain and an absolute waste of time.
"I don't care, as long as you decide before homeroom is over," Aizawa stated, zipping himself up in his cocoon and falling over to sleep. For a moment, Mizuki wished she could do the same, not enjoying the unnecessary lengths that were taken.
Everyone was handed out a piece of paper. They each then wrote the name of the person they believed to be the perfect candidate for class representative. Mizuki left hers blank, not wanting to and not having the necessary knowledge about any of those in the class to do so either.
She definitely wasn't going to vote for Katsuki, the images that flashed in her mind sipporting her decision. She half wanted to put Izuku's name down but didn't want to have to pick between the two men giving her trouble.
As expected, some of the students voted for themselves. It didn't surprise Mizuki at all. What did catch her completely off guard, was the top person who reigned with at least five votes. The others beneath had three and two votes respectively.
Election Results:
Mizuki Bakugou – 5
Momo Yaoyorozu – 3
Iida Tenya – 3
Izuku Midoriya – 2
She blankly stared at the results, not believing her eyes. Bakugou slammed onto the table in shock and went wild as he looked around for who voted for Izuku. The green haired male sweat dropping and paling at the ash blonde's reaction.
Mizuki was left speechless, not finding any words to speak. Why the hell was her name on the top of the list with the most votes? It wasn't possible. She didn't vote for herself and she was sure that no one else would either.
"Looks like we have a new class rep! Go and give us a speech!" Eijiro gave Mizuki a hit on her back, bringing her back to reality. Wait! She never said that she wanted to do this! She clearly gave the intension that she was uninterested.
"W-Wait-!""Go get 'em," Eijiro said with a wink, Mizuki caught off guard by his behaviour. She gave him a glare as she reluctantly walked to the front. The little shit voted for her. Of that, she was very sure of.
"Then, the class rep is Mizuki. Since it's going to take more time and a pain to vote again, she has two deputy class reps who will be Yaoyorozu and Iida," Aizawa said as the trio stood in front of the class. Mizuki stood between the two people in the class that she liked the least and had them as deputy.
Great.
Momo and Iida joined her sides at the front, both disappointed that they didn't win. Mizuki could practically feel the depression coming from them and briefly closed her eyes as she reached the edge of her patience.
"Hold up! I never said that I wanted to be the class rep!" Mizuki pointed out and only received blank looks from everyone in the class. She didn't even know who voted for her besides Eijiro, but she hadn't given them any reasons that she was aware of.
"Huh? You don't want to?" Kaminari asked and then smirked. "Or you can't? I understand! You'll be too busy with anything else, right?" Mizuki bit down hard on her teeth, a vein appearing on her forehead.
"It's okay, Mizuki! It's a bit tough to be class rep! Let the other two rather do it!" Sero, the other male called out, adding to her fuming temper, more veins palpitating out of her skin and steam coming from the palm of her hands.
These bastards…
Izuku became blue as they continued to tease Mizuki, angering her to a point where he wanted to run away. After Sero's words some of the girls started shouting it was okay if she didn't want to, the male's eyes widened when he realized what they were doing.
"You little shits…" Explosions erupted from Mizuki's hand palms and sparks appeared on her body, her clothing floating slightly. "You think that you can get away with saying what you want, huh?" She asked, growling dangerously, everyone swallowing thickly.
"I'll show you that I'll be the number one class representative! You better be prepared! Don't underestimate me!" Mizuki yelled at them, pointing directly at them. There was a brief silence before everyone smiled in satisfaction.
Kaminari and Sero shared a victorious look, Ochaco, Tsuyu and Mina smiling widely. Katsuki couldn't help but smirk. She took the challenge. She won this round but he would make sure to win the next one.
Momo glanced towards her side, watching Mizuki carefully. She hadn't noticed that the entire class riled her up for a reason. They wanted her to be the class representative. She couldn't compete with her and would merely be a good deputy.
Iida was taken back by Mizuki's determined speech and pressed his lips in a straight line. She had won him fair and square. He was starting to see her in a different light, though, he still didn't want to get on her bad side. Treading lightly with her warning in the back of his head.
The school bell rang and Aizawa let out a sigh. "That's it for homeroom." He then stepped out of his caterpillar sleeping bag and walked out. He gave the trio one last look and then walked off, shrugging off his own thoughts.
Mizuki wanted to kill herself for taking up the responsibility of a class rep which she had no interest in. She didn't know why they voted for her and she didn't know why she was actually doing this. She could only grit her teeth and move forward.
"Don't get cocky, Mizuki. I'm still better than you," Katsuki told his sister and she rolled her eyes at him, a playful smirk on her features. He didn't have to remind her. After all, he didn't know one of her biggest secrets and she wasn't going to tell him either.
His back was the most reassuring thing to follow.
The day continued on, their classes keeping them occupied and Mizuki itching to have lunch. She really wanted to sort the things out with support. Though, she was going to be pissed when they were closed.
As soon as the bell rang, she slung her bag over her shoulder and darted towards the door. "Hey! Mizuki! Wait up!" Eijiro called behind her but she was already half way through the door. She pulled herself back and smirked.
"Later, Red. I have some business to attend to! Enjoy a bite for me too!" She said and was off, leaving the male in a daze. Did she just call him Red again? Did she say he needed to enjoy a bite for her? She was in a very good mood for someone who didn't want to be class representative.
"Whoa, she's in a hurry. What's up with that?"
"Idiots, she's obviously on her way to do something stupid," Katsuki spoke up behind them, catching them off guard. He knew his sister well enough to know that she was excited over two things in life. Fighting and Designing.
"Stupid?" Katsuki let out a sigh and rolled his eyes before he walked off. "Bakugou! Wait up! Let's eat lunch together!" Eijiro called behind him, waving his hand as he tried to make the male stop and Katsuki growled.
"Get lost, Shitty Hair."
"Shitty-?! Hey, come on! Let's eat!" Eijiro insisted and continued until Bakugou finally gave in, yelling at him to shut up. He didn't know why this male continued on and on to eat lunch with him. He could only hope that Mizuki would hurry up.
Mizuki stood in front of the support course office of Power Loader and took a breath. She tightened her grip on her notebook and then pressed the button on the side, the metal doors opening up after a few seconds.
"Good Morning-""Watch out!" Mizuki dodged a flying object and caught it with her right hand, her instincts stepping in. She looked at the device she caught and raised an eyebrow. It was a small robot with…wings?
"Sorry about that! My Baby suddenly flew off like that!" A female came running out, her pink hair and strangely shaped eyes entering Mizuki's vision. The ash blonde sweat dropped when she saw the amount of grease covering the girl.
"You must be from the hero course! I'm Hatsume Mei, a first year from the Support Course! Nice to meet you!" She added, stepping into Mizuki's personal space, the ash blonde female giving her an unimpressed look.
Hatsume Mei
Age: 15
Quirk: Zoom
"Right… I'm looking for Power Loader Sensei. Aizawa Sensei said that he'd arrange with him," Mizuki told the female. She blinked a few times and then walked all around Mizuki, taking in her physique and she sighed. This girl wasn't listening to her at all.
"Hm? You must be from the hero course," a male voice spoke up as the hero, Power Loader came out from the laboratory. She took in the large yellow helmet in the shape of a rectangular excavator claw, his ginger hair sticking out from underneath. Another hero costume she wanted to put in her notebook.
Higari Maijima
Hero Name: Evacuation Hero – Power Loader
Quirk: Iron claws
"I heard from Eraser Head. You're here about changes in costumes for optimal Quirk usage, right? Come in." He gestured for her to follow and she walked in. She was surprised to find Mei already busy on the inside of the laboratory.
Mizuki didn't even know when she moved that fast and observed at the small pile of gadgets that she dove into. She then looked around and a smirk came onto her features. It had all the equipment anyone would ever need with making and tweaking support items.
"I take it that you have the instructions for the costume. It's in the case with the costume, right? Show it to me," the teacher spoke up as he stood in front of three computer screens. Mizuki pulled out the papers and handed it to the male. Luckily, she managed to take them with Aizawa's permission.
"I have a license to make costumes, so I'll tinker with what I can using that. For small changes and repairs, I can report what I changed to the design company and they'll do the paperwork for it, but for major changes, we'll have to fill out an application and ask the design company to do it," he explained.
"Then, the government will check the new costume and, once it's approved, it'll come back here. The agencies we work with are the best, so we usually get them back in about three days," he concluded and Mizuki's smirk widened.
"We're going to have to fill in a form then." The hero stared at her as he watched her pull out a peach coloured notebook. She opened it up in front of him, the male briefly caught off guard by the amount of information and costume designing that was done.
"I want the basics, like the appearance, to stay the same. However, regarding the material used for it and the supporting items I would like to change and add," Mizuki explained as she pointed towards her notes.
"Amazing! Did you do everything on your own?!" Mei yelled out as she snatched the book, her eyes scanning the details. "Look at these! You even made suggestions about specific materials to be used, what the support items should consist of and-"
"-I'll take that, thank you very much," Mizuki took her book back and handed it over to the hero teacher. "I'm sorry to put this onto you so sudden. Would you be able to make these changes?" She asked and he hummed in thought.
"I have the perfect Baby that you could use!" Mei exclaimed and rushed off, Mizuki raising an eyebrow. "You can use this Baby! Baby number 15, head helmet with full protection and X-Ray vision!"
Mizuki looked at the large, metal build head brace. Her eyes narrowed as she took in the designing and rough work. She took it in her own hands and noted the heaviness. She peeked inside it, tapping her finger on several places.
"It's going to be too heavy to wear and give too much strain on the neck. Wouldn't it be easier to develop goggles with the function that it could turn into a head brace? You could use a lighter yet sturdy metal. It'll be easier to use and still have all the functions," Mizuki suggested.
Mei gaped at her, silence falling onto the entire room. Mizuki caught herself rumbling off and put a hand in front of her mouth. She and her big mouth! She completely forgot what she was supposed to be doing!
"That's a great idea! I'll get to work on those goggles!" Mei said and Mizuki's eyes widened. Mei took her words into consideration? Mei laughed as she went to work on the brace and Mizuki was left dumbstruck.
"Your name is Mizuki, right?" Power Loader asked and she glanced at the male who held up her notes. "These are very detailed. It must've taken you hours to collect all of this to work out the best fit for this person's quirk. It's impressive work."
Mizuki blushed and laughed lightly. "I-It's not that much work. I knew some of the materials because of my own costume," Mizuki stated and watched the male move his head. She couldn't see his face underneath the item he had over his head, only his eyes visible.
"No need to be modest. You just gave Hatsume a completely different idea for the same item in a matter of seconds. You didn't take away the effects of the item and merely gave the idea a more user-friendly appearance," he pointed out and gestured towards the female tinkering with her tongue sticking out of her mouth.
"You're in the hero course, right?" He asked and Mizuki nodded. He then grunted and looked back at the screen, his fingers going to work on the computer screen. She watched as he pulled up Izuku's costume onto one of the screens.
"I'll fill in the form for you with the notes you made. There's still a while before lunch is over so why don't you look around for a bit?" He suggested and Mizuki's face lit up, the male chuckling at her eagerness.
"Thank you!"
"You're sticking around?" Mei's face was a few inches from her face and made Mizuki flinch at the sudden proximity. "Then you can look at my other babies!" She stated and grabbed Mizuki's arm, pulling the female along.
"W-Wait! I-""I have a lot of different babies for you! They can support all sorts of different quirks as well…" Mei continued to mutter along as she pulled Mizuki along. Mizuki smirked and resisted a chuckle.
She was an interesting girl, not giving the impression that she was affected by commentary on her support items. Though, it was a bit strange that she called them babies. She was passionate and did everything with a smile, designing anything that popped into her mind.
Mizuki looked at the pile of items and a small smile came onto her features. It reminded her of her own pile of clothing and designing books at home. It was only a few years back when she started to find interest in support items.
"What about this one?"
"U-Um… Firstly, you're going to either get rid of the wires or incorporate them into the armour. Like this." Mizuki grabbed a pencil and drew an example on a piece of paper that laid about. "I take it you made sure there was heat resistance and a long-life battery?"
"Yes! The entire booster is lined with a special metal and the battery is solar powered. I put in an extra panel on it, but it keeps blowing up and dies out," she said and Mizuki tapped on her chin with the pencil.
"I don't really know much about batteries but three panels are a bit too much for the appearance… Hey, what if you incorporate the entire body with a solar panel? That way it can charge easier! Then again, it'll be easier to damage then…" Mizuki trailed off and Mei laughed.
"Not if we do this!" She took the pencil and then drew over the sketch Mizuki made. The ash blonde female sweat dropped at the roughness of the drawing. Her eyes soon widened when she saw what the pink haired female was getting at.
"You can do that?"
Mei grinned from ear to ear and nodded. "Yip! It won't be a problem at all! I'll have to rebuild the body again and get the right material," she said and Mizuki glanced at the device. She looked at the sketch and chuckled.
"I look forward to see it, Mei. You know, this was actually fun. I hadn't played around designing with someone before," Mizuki stated and Mei grinned. She was a strange one, but once she started talking technical, it became interesting.
"Yeah! It was fun! You should come by more often!" She stated and Mizuki snickered. She liked that idea, though she had a feeling that a certain brother of hers would be against it. It was a difficult life with the Explodo-kill boy.
"I'll definitely try to come by if I can," Mizuki said as she stood up. "For now, I'm going to have to head out. I still want to get something to munch on before class." She walked towards the door and gave a wave.
"Thanks for everything, Power Loader Sensei, Mei!" Mizuki said and exited the laboratory with a smile. Power Loader let out a chuckle and then continued with work. Mei was left staring at the empty entrance where the ash blonde stood and pouted, glancing to her side.
Mizuki's notebook. "Wait, you forgot your…!" Mei called as she ran out of the laboratory only to find that the hall was void of the girl. "She's gone already? She must've been hungry…" She felt a hand on her shoulder and glanced up at the ginger haired male.
"Don't worry about it. I'll give her notebook to her homeroom teacher," he stated and Mei nodded, staring at the hallway where Mizuki was once in. She felt a grin break lose on her face and then laughed.
She couldn't wait to see her again.
Mizuki hummed in thought as she neared the cafeteria, her stomach giving her a soft growl in protest. She had submerged herself so far into her own world when she helped Mei that she completely forgot that she needed to still eat lunch.
She paled slightly at the thought of her brother scolding her for not eating. It wasn't such a big deal. She stuffed herself the morning with breakfast that her father prepared and would probably hold out the entire day. If only she could get something little to keep her going.
She was about to step inside the cafeteria when an alarm suddenly echoed throughout the halls, her eyes narrowing. What was going on? It was peculiar to have an alarm go off at U.A., especially since it was an impenetrable fortress.
"There has been a Level 3 security breach. All students please evacuate outdoors promptly."
Level 3 security…? Doesn't that mean that someone is trespassing on school grounds? Mizuki thought before a stream of students rushed out of the cafeteria. She growled when she was bumped into, her scowl evident.
"Hey, watch it-Agh!" She was nearly pushed to the ground until a hand grabbed hers, pulling her closer. "What do you-Izu-kun?" Mizuki asked as she looked at the green haired boy who gave her a warm smile with a nod.
"Mizuki-san, you need to be careful. Everyone's…pushing and…pushing us," Ochaco said as more and more students started to press against them. It was utter chaos as everyone tried to move towards the exit.
Mizuki could hear some of the students cry out for help and gritted her teeth. These idiots were all trying to get to the exit but no one was thinking about the persons they were trampling on to get there.
"Mi-chan!" Izuku cried out when he saw his best friend disappear in the crowd, the ash blonde forced against the glass window. She grunted on the impact and glared at the students, her gaze then moving towards the outside.
The press? How the hell did they get through? Mizuki thought, her brows furrowing in confusion. She could feel an uneasy feeling sit in the pit of her stomach. She didn't like what was going on and she had a feeling that it was much more than just the press.
"Everyone, calm do-" Iida's voice reached her ears and Mizuki glanced at the male as he was pressed against the glass. He was trying to calm down the masses but there was no way they were going to listen to him while being squished on the side-lines.
Wait, what if they could reach a place to get everyone's attention? Mizuki looked around, catching the exit with a small piece of the frame sticking out. If they could get up there, then they could talk to the students.
Mizuki gritted her teeth as she reached to the male, sparks on her body making the students next to her flinch. They gave her a bit more space and gave her the perfect opening to grab the male's collar in one swift motion.
"Mizuki-kun?"
"Hey, Four-eyes, you have a really loud and obnoxious voice, right?" He gave her a look filled with offensiveness. "Do you think you'll be able to calm these idiots down before they trample on someone?" She asked and he gave her a blank look.
"Even if I could, Mizuki-kun, they keep pushing against us and the teachers are busy trying to deal with the intruders. I'd have to reach a place where I can calm them down," Iida said and paled at the devilish look she gave him.
"I know of a place," she said and he blinked in surprise. Mizuki pushed passed the students, letting off a few sparks to make them try to move away. She then grabbed his front collar, his eyes widening as a result.
"Mizuki-kun, what are you-""I'm going to make you fly, Four-eyes!" She said with a smirk, mischief gleaming in her crimson orbs. The male stared at her incredulously. She was going to make him fly? How on earth was she going to…?
He felt her lift him up, sparks appearing all over her arms as she did so. He could feel his blood run cold at what she was about to do and, in the moment, didn't even think to admire how she was able to pick him up.
"GO!" She yelled and let out a small-scale explosion from her arms, everyone in the hallway yelling out in fear and shock. Some of the students knew the voice who was yelling along with the explosion and gaped.
"Mizuki-kun!" Iida yelled as he was sent flying towards the exit's frame. His eyes briefly widened at where she was sending him and his lips pressed into a straight line. If he continued with this momentum then-SPLAT.
Mizuki flinched along with Izuku and Ochaco when they saw the male hit the wall face first. Mizuki had to hold back her laughter as she watched him robotically turn around, his nose red from the face plant against the wall.
"Mi-chan was the one who threw him, neh?" He asked, slightly blue beneath his eyes and Ochaco nodded, her own words leaving her. Izuku knew the voice sounded familiar followed by the explosions but he hadn't expected her to throw Iida.
Iida grabbed onto the pipes above him and unconsciously posed the same as the figure on the emergency exit. Mizuki had to, once again, stop her laughter. He looked utterly ridicules. She only hoped he could get the crowd under control before she killed the next person that pushed her.
"Everyone, everything's fine!" Iida exclaimed and managed to get everyone's attention. "It's only the media! There's nothing to panic about. Everything's fine! This is U.A. Let us act in away befitting the best of the best," he said and had everyone calm again.
Mizuki let out a breath as they stopped pushing around and started to walk normally towards the exit. It was over but unfortunately, so was her lunch. She felt her stomach growl softly and huffed. It wasn't getting its way anytime soon.
"Mi-chan!" Izuku called as he walked towards her as he moved through the students. Ochaco was right behind him with a small. "Thank goodness you're alright," he said with a sigh of relief, Mizuki giving him a smirk.
"Luckily, Iida-kun calmed everyone down but man that was crazy! I only heard an explosion and the next moment he was flying through the air!" Ochaco exclaimed, bouncing slightly as she explained her point of view.
"Yeah, it was funny to throw him like that. It absolutely made my day when he flew right into the wall!" Mizuki said with a laugh, the two paling at her sadistic side. This was one of the times she resembled her brother.
"Mizuki-kun!" The familiar voice of Iida reached her ears and had her glance in the male's direction. His nose was still red from his contact with the wall, his face impassive as he robotically walked over towards her.
She smirked. "Well, if it isn't Human Projectile. You actually managed to get everyone to relax," Mizuki said, her nickname teasing the male. To her dismay, he wasn't fazed in the least and bowed in front of her.
"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help!" Mizuki raised an eyebrow. "It was a smart strategy to use your Quirk like that but it's very dangerous! Especially in a crowd!" He lectured her soon after and Mizuki's annoyance grew.
"I'm relieved that you'll be reliable in situations like these in the future! You'll be a good class representative!" He said and Mizuki wondered how much he hated to say those words to the girl who threatened his life.
"Oh, hell no. I only did it because it was a pain in the ass having a bunch of idiots push against each other. They didn't even notice the shit that was going on around them. Like a bunch of wild animals. It was either stop them or kill them," she said bluntly and had the trio dumbstruck.
"The latter would've been too much of a pain to clean up afterwards." Izuku turned blue beneath his eyes. "Anyway, I'm heading off now," Mizuki said and walked off, leaving the three in their dumb folded state.
"Mizuki-san is really hard core, isn't she?" Ochaco asked breathlessly, finally finding her words as she stared at the backside of the female. Izuku looked at his childhood best friend and smiled brightly with a nod.
"Yeah, she's always been like that…" He trailed off, the brown-haired girl glancing at him as he admired the girl walking off. She wondered if he noticed the way he looked at the ash blonde female and felt a small pang in her chest.
Mizuki was strong, confident and reliable; most of the things she wasn't. Then again, she and Izuku were best friends. She hadn't seen any interaction between then in a romantic way. That meant that there was still hope for her.
Mizuki held her stomach as she absentmindedly sat down on her chair in the classroom. She was hungry. Not enough to make her grumpy but enough to have her irritated. She was so close to having a quick meal.
"Hey, you, Fabric Conditioner!" Katsuki scowled as her as he came to stop by her desk, crimson eyes lazily glancing up to see her pissed off brother. Strange. He looked completely normal, but the way he slammed his hand into her wooden desk, said otherwise.
"Where the hell were you during lunch?!" He asked and Mizuki decided against telling him, knowing it would only add more fuel to the fire. "I had to keep Shitty Hair entertained while you were off dandling around!"
Shitty Hair…? Who…?
"Ah, Mizuki, you're here," she heard Eijiro call her name and glanced at the redhead. She blinked. Once. Twice. Then realization hit her and she was barely able to hold back her laughter. He was Shitty Hair.
"Hey, Red. My brother was just telling me how much he enjoyed having lunch with you," Mizuki greeted and had both males give her looks of utter disbelief. Katsuki's expression was much more hostile while Eijiro's was filled with happiness.
"Really?!"
"No, you dumbass! She's being an asshole!" Katsuki yelled at the male, Mizuki giving him a warning glare after Eijiro's face fell. Katsuki gritted his teeth at the threatening look, knowing he would be in deep trouble if he pissed her off.
Mizuki's stomach let out a growl and she groaned, letting her head sink into the coldness of the wood of her desk. "With everything that went off, I didn't have time to grab a bite… Stupid, Press," Mizuki murmured the last part.
"You idiot."
"Shut up, Katsuki," Mizuki snapped at the ash blonde, eyes glaring daggers at her brother. He merely gave her a smug look, putting her in a scowling mood. He was going to get it as soon as she regained her energy.
"Here you go." Mizuki glanced at a chocolate energy bar that was placed in front of her and then looked up at Eijiro's big and innocent eyes. "You can have this. I already ate and bought it if I needed it. You didn't eat and you definitely need it much more than I will," he said.
Mizuki looked at the chocolate energy bar and a warm smile spread onto her face as she felt her heart skip a beat. "Thanks, Red. I'll be sure to pay you back," Mizuki said as he took the bar, the male shaking his head.
"No need to. It's a present for a little motivation for the day," he stated innocently and Mizuki felt her cheeks darken. Eijiro's gesture was something small and cute. Yet, the impact it had on her heart was an entirely different story.
Mizuki and Eijiro jumped slightly when Katsuki slammed onto the table, a small juice box in his hand. "You better drink this before the old hag complains!" He said and then stomped towards his chair, huffing as he sat down.
Mizuki stared at her brother, noticing the tinting on his ears and snickered. Her younger twin was jealous and she loved it. He had never acted like this before, not even with Izuku. It was something completely new to see her brother acting in such a way.
You're too adorable sometimes, Brother.
