Chapter 21 - The Dilemma of Christian

In the previous chapter, the premiere performance of Dona Juana Triumphant had been started. The performance was going so very well until Erika (dressed up as Dona Juana) in order to singed opposite with Christian, who had played as the lead male character, Aminto. Later on after the duet, he removed off her mask, revealing her real deformities to the entire audience, making shocked in horror, in which she bring down the chandelier, creating a chaos. On the other hand, an angry mob, was seeking vengeance against Erika, for the death of Pianki and Buquet, was planned to strike the underground lair.

Monsieur Vera brought Raina and Masha to the underground staircase. He was holding a candle on his hand.

" I guess this is the only path the way to go with. She had locked up every doors in every corner. " he said

" Thanks for the help, Monsieur. " Raina said

" But before you continued, I need to warned you of something. " Monsieur Vera said

" What is it? " Raina asked

" I think that Erika had created some special traps. You have to be more careful, Viscountess. And top of that, keep your hand at the level of your eyes.. I mean.. her Punjab lasso. " Monsieur Vera told her

" I will " Raina said

" I must headed back to the top. You two can continued ahead. " Monsieur Vera said

And he left away the place. After that, the two rided on a wooden boat that it was lead to her sanctuary.

" Masha "

" Yes? " turned her head a little, facing to her

" I guess you have already know about her secrets, haven't you? "

" Yes, I had already know that a long time ago... back from Persia.. but somehow.. she was very clever when she pull a stunt just like that.. killed any person that she really wants... "

" Oh, I see.. "

" So.. after this incident, what you will gonna do next? "

She paused for a moment and after a few minutes, she responded " I will leaved with Christian from France. After all, I had already engaged with him and to forget everything of what happened here in the Paris Opera.. "

" I see about it. You have a swear strong love devotion to your special someone even Erika had no match for you. "

" But this time, I won't ever allowed her to hurt him that much. She had just pretended to be his angel of music in order to get closer to my fiancee. I will gonna knocked her down if I can. " gripped her hand

Back when, Erika was standing behind the wooden stand. After a few minutes, she sees Christian comes out, wearing a wedding tuxedo.

She slowly went approached to him, said in passionate manner " Ah, my beautiful and gorgeous groom. You are much more handsome that I ever imagined with... just like in a beautiful image.. "

" Is this is the way you wanted, Erika? Is that what really you want? to be your prisoner forever? " with an innocent facial expression on his face

" Oh, Christian dear.. after you had turned your back away from me... of what you did... and besides, nobody cares if they will hold a grudge against me.. no one is this world... have a strong compassion to someone just like me... with an abhorrent face... being despise and filled with hatred and sadness.. but somehow, I had never been loved by anyone else... and for some reason, my wish had been fulfilled... "

" if that was your reason but why you want to take me for good? "

" is because.. you are the only man who deserves it... to loved and cared for me.. but you had been betrayed me.. just like my father a long time ago... "

She touched the tip of his hair through her hand until on his right side of his shoulder. She looked at him, in which he was trembled with fear.

" now, I have finally have you in my possession.. I will give you everything as long as you wish to.. "

She gets the necktie from the mannequin that she had created and then she placed it on around of his neck, in which Christian was started to getting desperate and cried.

" Too late to turned back those tears and pities again. Marry me and be my eternal husband forever. "

He touched the ring that it was on his finger and after a few steps back, he removed the cover off, standing behind the mirror, saying in a brave manner " Erika, listen. I had never feared of your ugly face but it was actually in your own soul... that it was in distortion lies... you had been lied to yourself... not the others that you are blaming with.. "

She grabbed his arm forcibly, said in a mad expression " Do you think I'm a liar?! how dare to say it just like that.. that was makes me hurts in pain even more... "

She tried to sexually assaulted him.

" Ouch! Let go of me. "

" I cannot let you go away from me, Christian Daae. You are mine and mine only... just give up and marry me... " with a little furious expression on her face

" but, Erika.. I... " with a frightened fear expression on his face

But suddenly, Erika heard someone coming, in which she was amused.

" Well, my dear.. I think we have some special guests. " with amusement on her face

She turned her back, saw Raina and Masha had arrived at the front gate. When Christian saw her, he was surprised.

" Raina! "

" My, My.. madame.. I had been well delighted to came here... to made my beautiful night.. and even you, my only enemy, Masha. " Erika said, still with amusement on her face

" Let him go, Erika! Free him! Have you never have any pity?! Free him! " Raina demanded, in a loud voice, while she was holding the iron bars

" And surrender yourself for real, Erika. Your evil reign was over! " Masha said

Erika, turned her back a little, facing to Christian, saying " I think your precious lover had made a passionate plea. "

" That was not how it works, Raina... I'm so very desperate... " he said, with tearful expression on his face

" Just let him go, Erika! I loved him so very much... more than everything. It doesn't mean that I loved him. Show some compassion! " Raina said again in a loud voice

" The world has no compassion to me! " Erika said in a furious manner

" I must see him.. just for a moment.. " Raina said in a calm manner

" Very well then... " Erika said, with gritted amusement

She opened up the entrance gate, and then she said " I bid you welcome, Madame. Do you ever think that I will harmed him? Well, you have a brave spirit... but for some reason... that all of his biggest mistakes will be paid... in which are yours... but somehow... "

She pulled up the handle, in which she trapped Masha in an underground water floor and then she pulled Raina up with her Punjab lasso, tied around on her neck.

" No! " Christian shouted

The Viscountess tried to break the rope itself but Erika keep pulling it.

" Keep your hands at the level of your eyes. Just ordered your fine horses and besides, no one can able to saved you now with the exception of dear Christian of course. "

Masha, tried to break the trap but it failed.

Erika, turned her back, facing to Christian again, said " I will give you two choices: if you are willing to set your lover free, you will gonna marry me or if you don't, she will gonna died for good. "

" Don't ever listen to her, Christian. Don't do this just for my sake... please... " Raina said in a pleading manner

" Well, I will give you two minutes to decide.. make your choice.. " Erika said to him

And so, his mind was getting in dilemma, very confused on what he will gonna do, to picked one out of the two choices, in order to saved both his precious lover, Raina and Masha as well. This makes him to getting nervous with fear, and his body was started to shivered in cold.

Now that the final confrontation comes, will Christian Daae can able to make the final decision in order to saved his only childhood sweetheart from Erika's grasp? Will he can able to loved her back?
