Five Years Ago...

Arizona gripped onto her wife's hand in the waiting room of her obgyn's office. It was their first appointment since confirming their fourth pregnancy, and Arizona was beyond nervous.

Callie gently squeezed her hand back. The brunette was nervous as well, but she was also crazy excited to see their child. She couldn't believe it was finally the day they would get to hear their baby's heart beat.

"Arizona Torres" A nurse called out, looking around the room. Most of the nurses her recognized the couple, since they had spent a lot of time there since starting a family. The woman smiled when she saw the two standing up. "Just come back with me. How have you been?" She asked as she led them to a room.

"We're doing great" Callie answered with a smile.

"A little nervous for this appointment" Arizona added on.

The nurse opened up the door to a room. "Sit down on the table... You have nothing to be nervous about Mrs. Torres, you know the drill. Just a routine check up and some blood work, and you'll walk out of here with a picture of your adorable little nugget" The nurse smiled as she washed her hands. "You've been taking your prenatals?"

"Of course" Arizona held out her arm for the blood pressure cuff.

"Perfect..." The woman took Arizonas bloods pressure and jotted a few things down. "Also perfect. Any unusual pain? What symptoms have you been having?" The nurse got her stethoscope.

"Just the usual-" Arizona took a deep breath for the nurse to listen to her breathing. "Morning sickness that extends into the afternoon and evening." Another deep breath.

Callie let out a quiet chuckle as she sat down in a chair in the corner of the room. Morning sickness was an understatement. Her wife was crazy sick- and Callie firmly believed Arizona was a warrior to be going through this for their child.

The blonde glanced at her wife. "Back pain... cravings" Another deep breath. "Being absolutely exhausted all the time." Another deep breath.

"Are you getting enough sleep?" The nurse put her stethoscope back around her neck and jotted down more.

"Well, I'm trying to. Between being uncomfortable and having three little ones..."

"It's hard. I know" The nurse sympathized.

"Very hard" Arizona agreed.

The nurse nodded attentively. "Alright, I'm gonna get the stuff ready to draw some blood, I'll see if the doctor wants to come in first. Either way, I'll be back shortly."

"Thank you" Callie and Arizona spoke in synch. The nurse gathered her things and left, so Callie walked over to her wife.

"Baby if you need more sleep you don't have to wake up to my alarm..." Callie had been stressing her concern about Arizona's sleeping for weeks now.

"I like having time with you in the morning."

"I know you do, but if you need that extra sleep it's okay to sleep in." Callie stood between her wife's legs, rubbing her sides.

"Calliope, I'm okay. Please don't start this here" Arizona reasoned, not wanting Callie to be too worried.

"Okay, it's just something to consider Ari." The woman pressed one last time before changing the subject, "I can't wait to see our baby."

Arizona smiled. "Me either." The woman's smile faded slightly. "I hope everything's okay... What if something is wrong?"

"We'll take things as they come Zona." Callie leaned forward and kissed her wife's forehead. "I'm sure everything is perfect."

"Don't say that... we don't know." Arizona was getting overwhelmed.

Callie sighed. She knew Arizona always got like this for the first appointment. Arizona's fears were more towards her "messing up" carrying the child, while Callie was terrified of her wife going into labor and giving birth. It didn't get any less scary for them no matter how many pregnancies they had been through. The brunette just stuck to non verbal comfort for Arizona, not wanting to upset her wife.

There was a knock on the door and then Arizona's smiling obgyn walked in. "Ah, one of my favorite families" The woman washed her hands. Dr. Jones had helped Callie and Arizona get pregnant with Summer, and had delivered all three of their children so far. "How have you guys been?"

Callie stood next to her wife rather than in front of her, the couple still holding hands. "We're doing good" She answered.

"That's great to hear. So you decided to add a fourth little cutie to your family?" The woman looked through the file on her laptop.

"Yes, we did" Arizona smiled.

"That's great. How are the kids doing? Are they excited for a little brother or sister?" The Doctor loved to hear about Callie and Arizona's children- as she was the Doctor who helped bring them in to the world.

"Summer is ecstatic. She requests a baby sister" Callie joked.

"I'll do the best I can" The Doctor joked back, causing all three women to laugh.

"Jackson somewhat understands I think..." Callie looked at Arizona for approval.

"I think he sorta remembers when I was pregnant with Max, but not really... He was so little" Arizona agreed.

"Yeah. And Max is too little. He just giggles like he does whenever we talk to him" Callie smiled.

"I think Jackson will understand more in a few months" Arizona said thoughtfully, earning a nod from her wife.

"He was excited about Max when you were like about to pop" Callie added on.

The doctor smiled, "that's precious."

Arizona and Callie both nodded, happy to be talking about their incredibly adorable children.

"Alright" The woman stood up and got the ultra sound machine. "Are you ready to see your baby?"

Arizona nervously looked up at her wife, who was standing at her side opposite from where the doctor would need to be. They shared a silent moment looking at each other before they both nodded, squeezing each other's hands. "We're ready." Arizona spoke up.

"Perfect. You know the drill, shirt up." The woman set her machine up.

Callie reached down and helped Arizona pull her shirt up since one of her hands was occupied by Callie's.

"Thanks" Arizona laughed a little.

"Mhm" Callie hummed, brushing her hand over the soft skin of her wife's baby bump before resting her hand on the woman's thigh.

"Okay, this is gonna be cold, Arizona." The doctor mentioned.

Arizona's face scrunched up when the gel hit her stomach. She always knew it was going to be cold, but nothing could prepare her for how cold it actually was.

"Yeah" The Doctor let out a chuckle before she started rubbing the tool against Arizona's stomach. "We should be able to see from your stomach at this point... You're definitely already showing. I can see right here and here" The doctor ran her finger along the bottom of Arizona's stomach, making the woman squirm.

Callie squeezed her wife's hand and thigh softly, looking at the monitor, waiting excitedly to see their child.

The Doctor kept moving the tool over Arizona's stomach, soon enough, she found the fetus. "Ah, there we go! And the heart beat..." The Doctor listened.

Callie and Arizona both had insanely big smiles on their faces, their hands gripping each other way too tightly. The couple was both nervous and excited.

"Heart rate is perfect!" The Doctor smiled at the couple and started looking over the screen with her eyes narrowed to make sure everything was perfect.

The couple listened to their baby's heart beat as the Doctor did what she had to do.

"That's our little baby" Callie whispered.

Arizona beamed. "Our baby" She whispered back.

"Perfect size, everything looks perfect. We just have to do some blood tests to make sure I didn't miss anything. I'm sure the nurse already mentioned that though. I'll snap a few photos quick" The doctor did so. "Alright, now let's get this cold gel off you" The doctor set down her tool, the sound of the baby's heart beat suddenly disappearing as she started to wipe down Arizona's stomach.

Callie reached over and grabbed the paper towel. "I've got it" She said softly. The Doctor nodded, letting Arizona's wife take over. Callie had a much more gentle approach than the doctor did as she slipped her hand out of Arizona's to hold up the woman's shirt.

"Okay. Do you have any concerns you'd like to address?" The Doctor questioned after updating Arizona's digital files.

"No I think we're-"

"Actually" Callie looked up from what she was doing. "Is there anything we could do to help Arizona get some more rest? She's been getting sick all night, it's never been this bad before" Callie knew Arizona didn't want her to mention anything, but Callies overall worry for her wife overpowered her wife's wishes.

"Calliope.." Arizona interjected.

The Doctor nodded a little. "I'll look in to something. Getting sick as in throwing up?"

Callie looked at her wife, who sighed in defeat.

"Yeah. Just, all the time. It's a lot more often than I feel like it should be."

"I'll give you a call later this week. I can try to look in to medications that might help you that will be safe during pregnancy." The Doctor smiled, writing that down in Arizonas digital file as well.

"Thank you" Callie finished cleaning off Arizona's stomach.

"Of course. The nurse should be back in for blood work and then you guys are all set until next month!" The Doctor smiled as the couple thanked her before leaving.

"Calliope. I don't need to be taking medicines. None of that is good for the baby" Arizona hissed as Callie fixed her shirt.

"Babe, she just said she will make sure any medicine she looks in to is safe. It's not safe for the baby when you're not getting sleep, either, you know" Callie helped Arizona sit up straight again.

"I'm getting sleep."

"Not nearly enough."

Arizona opened her mouth to speak, but Callie raised her eyebrows. Both women knew Callie was right. Arizona was just being stubborn, which wasn't new. But, Callie knew what her wife needed, and she knew Arizona needed way more sleep than she was getting, even if Arizona would disagree until she went blue.

"That's what I thought" Callie whispered, Arizona rolling her eyes.

Back to Current...

The couple was hand in hand at Arizona's obgyn- a place they found themselves very often. Arizona had one last appointment to make sure she was on track for labor within the next few weeks. Callie had only missed a few of Arizona's appointments since they started having kids and it was because she physically could not get there. It wasn't unfamiliar for Callie to be there, holding her wife's hand, rubbing her sides and comforting her in every way possible.

"I can't believe this is our last ever pregnancy appointment" Callie spoke softly as the couple sat in the room, waiting for the doctor.

"Stop, don't make me cry" Arizona whispered.

"Baby..." Callie tilted her head at her wife and tucked blonde hair behind a pale, piercing covered ear.

"I don't want this to be our last... I mean I do but..." Arizona and Callie had both been struggling with the fact that they were going to stop having children. They knew it was the right choice, but they wished it wasn't. The couple loved bringing a new child in to the world and loving that child endlessly.

"I know, I know..." Callie sympathized. Callie was aware her wife was struggling with this more and more as it got closer to her giving birth. The brunette knew Arizona loved being pregnant- of course it was hard and draining, but at the end of the day, Arizona was genuinely happy to be carrying their children and using her body to help them grow.

The couple stayed in silence, Callie hugging Arizona carefully, rocking back and forth as the blonde was sat on the table.

A knock on the door pulled the couple from their little bubble. Callie stepped to the side as the Doctor walked in, smiling.

"Do you really have to go back to workkk?" Arizona complained. The couple was in the car after their appointment- all was well and hopefully this baby would be coming soon. The older kids were still at school and Callie had taken her lunch break to pick Arizona up and take her to the appointment. Arizona was more than capable of going herself but Callie didn't want her to be alone. Callie's mother was home with the younger children.

Callie laughed. "I'm sorry, I'll be home soon, though."

"Not soon enoughhh" Arizona rested her hand over her wife's hand, which was placed over Arizona's thigh.

Callie just shook her head in amusement. "Do you want me to bring something home for dinner?"

"Saves me from cooking" The blonde answered immediately, which Callie knew meant yes.

"Do you want my mom to stay after she picks the kids up from school?" Callie asked.

"I'll be okay" Arizona replied. The kids mostly did homework or played with each other until Callie got home, it usually wasn't that difficult for Arizona to keep them all entertained. Arizona also didn't want her mother-in-law to be doing all of the things she was supposed to be doing as a mother. Of course, the blonde was grateful that Lucia was picking up the kids from school in the afternoon and helping out when there was a doctors appointment- mostly because Callie didn't want Arizona driving. Arizona didn't really know why Callie had been going out of her way to make sure Arizona wasn't driving, but she just went with it. She was sure there was a reason even if she didn't know it.

When they pulled in front of their house Arizona sighed loudly to let Callie know she did not want her to go back to work.

"Give me a kiss" Callie said as her wife unbuckled, pushing aside her wife's dramatic attitude. The couple kissed, making Callie smile. "I love you. I'll see you soon."

"I love you too. Text me when you get back to work" Arizona opened the car door, leaning over and kissing her wife one last time before she headed inside.

When she opened the door, it was immediate chaos. Somehow, her three youngest children being home made more of a mess than all of her children being home.

"Mommy's home, go say hi!" Lucia cooed when the front door opened, smiling as her three youngest grandchildren excitedly ran to greet their mother.

"Mommy!" They cheered.

"Hi, babies." Arizona tried to take off her shoes as her children jumped up at her. "Calm down, one second. Let me get my shoes offf" She said in a soft voice. Her children barely listened, still barking excited stories and impatiently waiting to be hugged by her. Once she managed to get her shoes off she kneeled down and hugged the three children. "Hi my loves. Did you have fun with grandma?"

"Yeah!! We playeddd" Olivia dragged out, hugging her mother.

"Oh yeah? That's awesome!" Arizona smiled. She stood up, picking up Kaylee as she did so. "Did you have fun little miss?" She poked her daughters cheek.

The young brunette giggled in response and Arizona nuzzled her face into her daughters cheek, earning more giggles. She entered the living room with a smile on her face, seeing her mother-in-law sat on the floor around a puzzle she must have been doing with the kids.

"Her laugh sounds just like Calliope's when she was young" The woman reminisced.

Arizona nodded. "She's a spitting image of Cal." She agreed. They had gotten pregnant with the twins the same way they did with Summer- using Callie's eggs. The blonde tickled her daughters stomach just to get some more adorable giggles.

Lucia smiled as she watched her daughter-in-law. "How was the appointment?"

"Good, everything was good! Hopefully we'll get to meet the little one soon" Arizona sat down on the couch, Mason and Olivia immediately going over to her.

"I sure hope so, I can't wait!" Lucia stood up. "Are you gonna be okay here or do you want me to stick around sweetie?" Callie had texted her mother and asked her to make sure Arizona didn't need help, so Lucia decided to ask.

"I'll be perfectly fine" Arizona tilted her head. "Calliope told you to ask, didn't she?"

Lucia laughed. "Yeah, she did. She's just worried, she always is."

"I know she is. You tell her I'm perfectly fine. But thank you for offering to stay, Lucia" Arizona had laughed as well. She wasn't surprised her wife had gotten her mother to offer to stick around.

"Of course, anything you need my dear. Just give me a call if you end up needing me to come by before I get the kids from school" Lucia was happy to help- she loved any time she could get with her grandchildren.

"Thank you. And thank you for picking them up for me, it's really helpful" Arizona always tried to express her gratitude towards her mother-in-law.

"It's no problem sweetie. I'll see you later"

Arizona nodded, and with that, Lucia headed out. "What do you guys wanna do? Should we watch some shows?" She looked down at her children.

"Yeah!" They cheered. Arizona smiled and turned on the tv, flipping through the channels as she brushed her fingers through Kaylee's soft black hair. Once she found a channel, she checked her phone, seeing Callie had texted.

I'm back at work.

Are you sure you don't want my mom to stay?

Arizona bit her cheek and rolled her eyes. Callie was extremely over protective. The blonde knew it was just because Callie loved her, but Arizona could handle their children herself.

Arizona texted back.

I'm okay, your mom just left babe.

Just then, she heard a knock on the door. "I swear to God if Calliope sent someone else over" The blonde muttered as she lifted her children off of her and headed to the front door, leaving the kids to watch their tv show. "I'm coming" The blonde made her way to the front door. When she opened the door, she gasped. "Nick!!"

"Do I get a hug?" The man held his arms out.

Arizona laughed, hugging him tightly. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, I wanted to see my favorite nieces and nephews, obviously" Nick laughed and kicked his shoes off as he came inside, watching Arizona close the door behind him. "And I brought them gifts" He set down some bags he had been holding. "Where are they?"

"Summer, Jackson and Max are at school. The little ones are in the living room" Arizona smiled.

"I'll bet they'll be beyond excited to see their favorite uncle" The man smiled slyly as he made his way to the living room.

Arizona laughed as she watched him.

Ten years ago...

"Cal?" Arizona brushed her finger over her daughters tiny cheek. The couple was alone in the hospital room the day after their daughter was born. Callie had been just sitting on the couch as Arizona held a sleeping Summer.

"Yeah?" Callie got up, thinking Arizona needed her help with something, so she went to her wife's bed side.

"Nick's coming." Arizona looked up at her wife. She had just been texting Nick and he said he was going to stop by to see her and the baby.

"He is?" Callie questioned. The brunette had gotten to know Nick over the years- she really liked him, she could tell he cared about Arizona a lot. But she also knew with being in the army he was barely home, she didn't know that he was back in Washington.

"Yeah, I guess he's back home" Arizona smiled as Callie sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her.

"That's nice, I'm glad" Callie looked down at her daughter.

"Yeah... Do you uh..." Arizona started to speak- sounding almost nervous.

Callie looked at her wife again, tilting her head to show concern.

"You know how... well, Aria is going to be Summer's god mother because well... she's your sister. Arizona spoke slowly.

"If you're okay with that... did you have something else in mind?" Callie immediately felt bad, thinking Arizona had wanted something different and had felt forced.

"No, no no no. I think... I think that's a great idea. But uh... Summer needs a god father too... right?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess so" Callie answered, wondering where her wife was taking this.

"Well I know neither of us have brothers... or brothers that are... here... anyway. But uh, you know..." Arizona was beyond nervous- she didn't know if her wife would like this idea, but the blonde already had her heart set on it. "Nick... you know, he's like a brother to me... do you think we could... well, if he's okay with it... I think he should uh..." Arizona didn't want to finish- worried her wife wouldn't like the idea.

"Arizona, of course. I know how important he is to you. And I know how important you are to him, I know he'll be a great god father to Summer" Callie smiled warmly at her wife, rubbing the woman's back.

"It's okay if you- wait really?" Arizona was surprised.

Callie laughed. "Of course, why not?"

The blonde bit her cheek. "And this might be a stretch but... if Nick uh, if he is okay with it... could Summer... and our other children when they are born... could they maybe call him uncle Nick?" Arizona hadn't made eye contact with her wife. They had never discussed this before, but it was something Arizona had been hoping would be okay with Callie.

"Baby, of course. Why are you so nervous... look at me" Callie placed a hand under her wife's chin and gently pulled it up so the couple made eye contact. "Arizona, you know, I'm not going to be upset with you for wanting certain things. We're doing this together, and I think Nick will take his role as Uncle very seriously" Callie smiled as Arizona laughed. "I think Summer will love her uncle Nick very much."

"Me too..." Arizona smiled up at Callie.

A knock on the door pulled them from their bubble, and Callie immediately looked down at her wife, making sure she felt comfortable with someone else coming into the room. "You okay?"

Arizona nodded, shifting Summer in her arms.

"Come in" Callie called out, after the nod of approval from her wife.

A nurse opened the door, letting Nick in before closing it again.

"There she is" Nick smiled when he saw Arizona. The woman looked as exhausted as she felt- so did her wife. They hadn't really 'slept' since they had gotten to the hospital.

Callie stood up from the side of the hospital bed so Nick could see Arizona and the baby, smiling at him.

"Hey, Cal" Nick quickly pulled the woman in for a hug.

"It's good to see you" Callie hugged him back.

The man nodded and stepped toward Arizona. "A little girl? What's her name?" Nick leaned over and hugged Arizona gently as he looked at the small baby in her arms.

"Yeah, her name is Summer. Summer Torres" The blonde flashed a smile at her wife.

"She's beautiful, Zona. Tim would be so proud of you. Look at you, you're a mom!"

Arizona immediately started to tear up at the mention of her brother. "Stop, don't make me cry."

Nick just nodded, watching the small baby's every move as she squirmed and stretched in her mothers arms.

"Do you wanna hold her?" Callie piped in, standing at the foot of the bed.

The man looked at Callie, the smile never leaving his face. "I would love to."

With that, Arizona leaned forward, placing her daughter in Nick's arms.

"Heyy, Summer." Nick cooed when the baby was safely in his arms. "She looks so much like Cal already" Nick looked up at Callie.

"That's what I said" Arizona smiled, also looking at her wife, who had a huge smile on her face.

"She's beautiful" Nick looked down at the baby again. "Yeah, you're so beautiful. Justtt like your mom." It wasn't surprising that Nick was incredibly sweet with the baby. The man was known as a tough guy, but Arizona was like his sister, and he would always have a soft spot for her, as well as her child.

Callie had moved to sit at the end of the hospital bed, placing a hand on Arizona's ankles.

"Hey Nick?" Arizona asked after a few minutes.

The man looked up at Arizona.

"How would you uh... how would you feel about being Summer's godfather... and well, her uncle Nick?" Arizona smiled at him.

Nick's eyes lit up. "You're serious?"

Callie laughed. "Of course."

"I would.. I would be honored." Nick looked down at the baby- his niece and goddaughter. "You hear that, kid? I'm your uncle Nick. That means if someone messes with you, I'll kick their ass."

"Nick!" Arizona shot him a glare. "No kicking ass talk around my baby."

"Oh, come on Zona, you knew how to beat a kid up when you were six. I've gotta get her started!"

"You used to beat kids up when you were six?!" Callie couldn't help but laugh.

"No, no, I did not. Nick, my child will not learn how to beat a kid up by age six" Arizona looked at the man sternly.

"Fine, age seven" Nick said, him and Callie both bursting into laughter.

Back to Current...

Arizona follows Nick in to the living room, smiling as she heard her children's excited cheers.

"Uncle Nick! Mommy look it's Uncle Nick!" Olivia ran across the couch, jumping onto Nick.

"Oh" He groaned, catching the small child. "Hi Liv!" He leaned down, picking up the twins, who had walked across the couch and were standing on it in front of where Nick was. "I missed you guys! Look how big you've gotten!" He squeezed the three children in his arms as they giggled.

The twins, of course, barely remembered Nick, as they had only seen him less than five times, and they were young, but Olivia remembered Nick and loved whenever he visited.

"Mama says I'm suppperrrr tall" Olivia stated proudly as the children's uncle set them down.

"Oh yeah. You're almost as tall as me" The man joked, smiling at the adorable blonde girl.

"Noooo cuz you're an adult and I'm a kid!" Olivia argued.

Nick glanced back at Arizona, who just laughed. The children started grabbing their toys, wanting the man to play with them.

"You know, a little birdie told me you're talking to your mom again" Nick said as he sat on the ground, immediately being swarmed by the children.

"And who might that have been?" Arizona sat at the edge of the couch, crossing her arms and raising her eyebrow.

"Who do ya think?" Nick picked up one of the toy cars the kids had brought him.

"Cal?" Arizona tilted her head- she didn't think Callie would've told anyone, but she could've been catching up with Nick and told him.

"No."

"Who?" Callie, Lucia, and Carlos were the only people who knew that Arizona was talking to her mother again- she didn't believe it would last long, and from the looks of it, it wasn't going to last much longer. Arizona felt confident in saying her father wanted nothing to do with her.

"Barbra Robbins herself!" Nick laughed.

Arizona bit her cheek- She knew Nick had still talked to her all of these years. But, how couldn't he? The Robbins pretty much raised Nick- he had always been at their house and was a regular guest at nightly family dinners. Arizona hadn't expected him to stop talking to them just because they stopped talking to her.

"Was I not supposed to know? I was surprised you didn't call me!" Nick thought Arizona would tell him something as big as this. "Is it not going well?"

"It's uh... no not really. I would've called you, I've been so busy." Arizona sighed.

"It's alright, I figured. You look like you're about to pop."

"Well, I'm thirty nine weeks..." Arizona looked down at her stomach.

"Callie just leaves you home with the kids?"

"Nick, I'm pregnant, not sick. Of course she does."

"But.." Nick didn't like that answer. Arizona looked uncomfortable.

"Nick, if I need help-which I don't- Callie is more than willing to come home. Her mom has been getting the kids from school and bringing them home for me."

"Okay, that's good. But, then you're alone with all of them?"

"They're my kids."

"Yeah but you're..."

"I'm pregnant. I'm still capable of being a mother." Arizona knew Nick was just over worried. He had a huge soft spot for the younger blonde woman, and he didn't want her to ever feel pain. Of course, that was completely unrealistic, but whenever he could take her pain away, he would.

"I know Zona, I know." Nick sighed. "When are you gonna talk to your mom again?"

"I don't know if I'm going to." Arizona sat back.

"What?! Why wouldn't you?!" Nick began to freak out.

"Why would I? My dad wants nothing to do with me, and she still half believes him. It's a waste of time. They don't accept me."

"No, Zona, that's not it. You gotta talk to your mom."

"Nick, I'm not going to let my children hear the terrible things they say to me-- We're already having problems with S-u-m-m-e-r because of last time." Arizona spelled out her daughters name so Olivia wouldn't know what she was talking about.

"So, go by yourself."

Arizona scoffed. She was 39 weeks pregnant and already exhausted by just dealing with her children, there was no way in hell she was going to see her mother.

"Or just talk on the phone. You gotta talk to her."

"Nick, I don't want to. They don't accept me- why are you so concerned, anyway?" Arizona was starting to get annoyed now.

"Because you'll regret it if you don't." Nick broke his eye contact with Arizona and looked down at the children, starting to play with them again.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Arizona narrowed her eyes.
