Chapter 12
A week had passed since Daya left for the mission and Abhijeet was completely engaged in his case not even thoughtful about ACP sir's increased anger as he in the last one week didn't even visit the bureau and no one was knowing his whereabouts in the bureau including ACP sir which was just blazing the fire...
Today ACP sir had come to HQ for some work and after its completion he was looking around to at least have a glimpse of Abhijeet here...
But to his bad luck, instead of his son the second most annoying person for him now, DCP CHITROLE saw and came to him...
DCP raised eyebrows: ACP tum yaha pe ( murmured ) voh Abhijeet kam tha jo bhi tum bhi aa gaye...
ACP confused: Aapne kuch kaha ?
DCP awkwardly: Nahi nahi...tum yeh batao yaha kya kar kar rahe ho
ACP was looking around to find Abhijeet and answered annoyingly: Sir voh kuch files pe sign hone the isliye aana pada...
DCP teased: Aankhe kamzor ho gayi hai kya jo mein saamne khada hu tab bhi aaju baju dekh rahe ho
ACP disappointed: Aapko kisko dekhna hai ( DCP shocked while he realizing said ) nahi matlab ( gritting teeth ) DIG sahab aur Abhijeet dikhe nahi kaafi time se isliye socha mil lu ( awkwardly ) aapko maloom hai kya ki Abhijeet kaha hai
Only he knew what he was feeling while asking a third person about his son but, he right now just craved to see him and know if he is fine or not that's why kept all his grudges at a side...
DCP surprised: Oho ( stressed ) ACP Pradyuman mujhse puch raha hai ki ( stressed ) Abhijeet kaha hai...
ACP ( pov ) annoyed: Zaroorat padne pe gadhe ko bhi baap banana padta hai
DCP continued sarcastically: Voh dialogue ka kya hua bhai ( imitating ) Abhijeet aur Daya agar cheekh bhi lete hai to mujhe phone karke batate hai
ACP looked away in irritation: Aapko maloom nahi hai to seedha bol dijiye na mera time matt waste kijiye
He though shoved his sarcasm from outside but it pierced like a dagger in his heart as he knew he was right, the mile-long distances had abruptly erupted between him and his son which put question marks over the authenticity of his prior statements or rather say BOASTS.
A light smirk played by his lips thinking about how he used to boast in front of the world that only he can know what Senior Inspector Abhijeet's next step would be in any situation but now, that same world was showing him the reality, the reality of the existence of these abrupt distances...
ABRUPT?! His heart shouted unbelievably. He blinked and sighed painfully remembering the distances wasn't abrupt, they were the sour fruit of his own deeds, his hurting statements to his son without thinking about the sentiments of the latter, his unthoughtful actions, his stupid plans, and then not even mouthing a loving or trusting word as he knew his son would never like apologies from him but surely craves for a single loving-trustworthy word from this mouth. But he
Pradyuman!
He jerked slightly and the trail of his thoughts stopped by the DCP sir's voice who was literally scowling near his ear...
ACP in irritation: Kya baat hai sir corridor me khade hoke koi aise chillata hai kya...
DCP shocked: Aree hadd hai pehele khud khade khade so jaate ho kitni baar bulaya meine ( ACP jerked his head while he added in attitude ) Abhijeet abhi aandhe ghante pehele aaya tha HQ ( ACP alert ) DIG Sahab ke cabin me gaya tha
ACP annoyed ( pov ): Gaya kaha hoga bulaya hoga mujhe maloom hai huhhh dekhta hu jaake kya patti padha rahe hai
He instantly turned and started moving while thinking completely forgetting to acknowledge the DCP sir who was standing there having shocking expressions...
DCP shockingly ( pov ): Isne pichle paanch minute me paanchwi baar mujhe ignore kar diya ( annoyed ) izzat hi nahi karta hai yeh meri huhh bhalayi ka zamana hi nahi hai...
He jerked his hands in irritation and went...
ACP entered the corridor having DIG sir's cabin when stopped in mid and a broad smile made it's way on his former annoyed face as he saw the desired person in front of him sitting in a closed glass cubicle and studying some files.
ACP ( pov ) sad: Mumbai me hone ke bawajud ek hafte baad dekh raha hu isko ( sighed ) peheli baar ho raha hai Daya mission pe gaya hai aur yeh janab shanti se beithe hai...nahi toh subah shaam ek hi question ki Sir Daya kab aayega aur uss chakkar me apna dhyan nahi rakhta tha...
He smiled lightly as a memory came to his mind...
Flashback;
It was night time when nearly all officers had left with just two remaining and they were, Abhijeet on his desk engrossed in a file while Freddy gaining the courage to go to Abhijeet's desk...
Abhijeet looked at Freddy from the corner of his eye and asked still reading the file: Kya hua Freddy kuch kehna hai ?
Freddy jerked lightly and said fearfully: Na..nahi sir voh bass
Abhijeet closed the file and looked at him: Batao jo bhi hai ( seeing his watch said in concern ) aur tum abhi tak gaye kyu nahi bhabhi ji intezar kar rahi hogi na
Freddy caringly: Sir aap kab ghar jayenge subah se kaam me lage hue hai...( tensed ) upar se aapko bhukar bhi haiaur lunch bhi nahi kiya...( he didn't realize when his voice got slight anger ) kuch to khyal rakhiye apna aise to aap beemar ho jayenge...
Abhijeet surprised with that little unintentional anger but smiled slightly and stood up: Freddy mein theek hu bilkul aur thodi der me ghar bhi jaa raha hu tum bhi
Thodi der ka matlab kitne ghante hai Abhijeet ?
Abhijeet stopped in mid with this teasing and turned to see ACP sir standing wearing a teasing smile who came forward with the same smile...
Abhijeet surprisingly: Sir aap kab aaye meeting se ?
ACP teasingly: Meri choddo aur apna batao ki thoda time ka matlab kitna time ( sarcastically ) kahi subah ke chaar baje tak rukne ka irada toh nahi hai jaise kal tha
Freddy's eyes widened with shock and his jaw dropped open while Abhijeet's head unintentionally like a kid dropped down in front of his father
Freddy said a little loudly: Subah ke chaar baje ( counting on fingers and eventually getting more shock ) sir matlab aap humare jaane ke aath ghante tak bureau me hi the aur voh bhi subah se bina kuch khaye piye ( a little angry ) tabhi aapko subah se bhukar hai aaj...aur tab bhi aap aaram nahi kar rahe..
Abhijeet tried to stop him but now the harm was done as ACP sir's face was showing clear shock and anger...
ACP shockingly-angrily: Kya matlab Freddy ( eyed at Abhijeet saying chewingly ) mein bhi zara sunu pichle do dino me mere peeche se kya karname kiye hai tumhare Abhijeet sir ne
Freddy hiding his smile: Sir voh Daya sir mission pe haina isliye Abhijeet sir ka unke bina mann nahi lagta isliye bass kaam me lage rehte hai ( stressed ) bina khaaye piye aur araam kiye
He downed his head as Abhijeet glared at him hard while ACP said in anger: Usko aankhe dikhane ki zaroorat nahi hai samjhe ( teased-anger ) aur inspector sahab apni bai taraf dekhe zara taaki mujhe bhi darshan prapt ho aapki mannmohak aankho ka ( Abhijeet downed his head embarrassed while Freddy hides his laugh, he added in anger ) Hadd hoti hai Abhijeet laparwahi ki bhi... mein do dino ke liye Pune kya gaya tumne peeche se apna aisa haal kar liya kuch toh apna bhi dhyan rakho...karwa liya na bhukar ab...
Abhijeet with down head: Sir bhukar subah tha halka lekin meine medicine leli ab theek hu mein bilkul...
ACP frustrated: Theek to mujhe tumhe karna padega ab kuch zyada hi dimag chalta hai tumhara ( teased while thinking ) Vaise Freddy tumhi batao kya karna chahiye jisse inn sahab ka dimag thoda kabu mein aaye...
Freddy while hiding his laugh said: Sir Abhijeet sir ko kuch samay Salunkhe sir ke paas rehne dete hai usse shayad ghar jaldi jaana shuru ho jaaye...
ACP smiled while Abhijeet annoyed ( pov ): Iss Freddy ka kuch karna padega bahot bolta hai aajkal...
ACP michievously: Par Freddy agar Salunkhe ke paas chodda isse to firr bhi kaha ghar jayega yeh ( hiding his smile ) janab to Tarika me hi khoye rahenge na...
Freddy just closed his mouth to stop his burst of laughter while Abhijeet started turning red in embarrassment and shyness
Abhijeet hiding his shy smile stammered to change the topic: Si..sir Daya kab tak aayega vaise ? Ek mahina hone ko aaya hai
ACP enjoying his son's shyness said: Ek hafta to kam se kam ( getting a slight nod from another side said mischievously ) kaho toh tab tak tumhari desk Forensic lab me lagwadu mann laga rahega aur Tarika ke haath ka toh khaana bhi kha loge ( hiding his smile ) suna hai ( stressed ) bhindi badi achchi banati hai voh...
Freddy choked a laughter while Abhijeet was completely red and just tried to escape: Si..sir me..mein jaa raha hu ghar...( hiding his shy smile ) good night sir kal milenge
He immediately started to leave trying to control his cheeks getting red as his father was in full mood of pulling his leg today while Freddy was trying hard to control his laugh...
ACP sir asked from behind while laughing and teasing him a little more: Aree batao toh sahi bureau me beitho ge ya lab me
Sirrrr!
Abhijeet's embarrassed voice came from another side of the door while Freddy finally burst out in laughter followed by ACP sir as he knew his son was smiling shyly and was completely red hiding at the other side of the door...
Flashback Over;
ACP sir was unknowingly smiling widely remembering it and also how they had dinner together afterward while Abhijeet's face was still having a reddish hue in front of him.
He came out of the sweet trance with a slight jerk on his shoulder, he looked in the direction to find the most annoying person for him now standing with slightly raised eyebrows
ACP in a fake smile: DIG sahab aap yaha ?
DIG in a sarcastic smile: Tum mere cabin ke bahar khade ho Pradyuman yaha tumhe mein nahi toh aur kaun milega haan ?
ACP looked away: Ha voh meine dhyan nahi diya sir mein toh bass Abhijeet se milne aaya tha
DIG got serious and asked straightly: Kuch kaam hai tumhe usse ?
ACP looked at him shocked, who the hell is he to ask this ?
ACP sternly: Kya matlab sir ? Mein kya Abhijeet se mil nahi sakta hu
DIG shrugged casually: Nahi nahi milo mein kyu mana karunga tumhe lekin abhi voh ek bahot zaroori kaam kar raha hai isliye pucha...
ACP turned his gaze towards the cubicle saying meaninfully: Kaam me to aapne use uljha hi rakha hai...( DIG looked at him while he added casually ) isliye aajkal zyada bureau bhi nahi aata
DIG smiled: Bureau aayega bhi kis ke liye mein toh yaha hota hu ( ACP looked at him in shock-anger while he chuckled and said ) airport pe lene aane ke baad se hi toh mere saath hai ( sarcastically ) isliye shayad tumhari kami mehsoos nahi hoti...
ACP clutched his fists but instead of anger decided to go in a teasing way...
ACP in a teasing smile: Shayad aapne sahi kaha sir kyuki ( stressed ) kuch din kaam to aapke saath hi karna hai ( shrugged casually ) achcha hai aapke hone se thoda mann behl jayega uska nahi toh humare paas hi aane me laga rehta baar baar...( DIG clutched his fists while he looked at the files spread on the table ) kaam ka kya hota firr case bhi toh solve karna haina...
DIG gritting his teeth: Hmm isliye behtar hoga use kaam karne do ( looked at him seriously ) aur tum bhi bureau sambhalo
ACP smiled internally seeing him hiding his annoyance and anger...
At that moment, both saw that Abhijeet had noticed them and was coming out of the cubicle so to make him hear,
ACP said in a sarcastic smile: Hum to kaam hi karenge sir...itne khushnaseeb nahi na ki Abhijeet apne kaam chodd kar bureau milne aaye jaise aapko airport se lene aaya tha...
Apparently, Abhijeet heard it so he unintentionally stopped in his way for a moment but sighing again resumed walking with stoic expressions plastered to his face...
DIG smiled teasingly: Koi baat nahi ( meaningfully in a low tone ) jab che saat saalo me ek baar miloge na toh bhej dunga tumhe lene
ACP shocked and got alarmed by this. He looked at him angrily but before he says,
Good Morning Sir!
This soothing wish interrupted them. The wish for which he was craving for almost a week was finally heard but,
ACP in anger: Abhijeet tum bureau kyu nahi aa rahe ho aaj kal haan tumhari zimmedari sirf yeh case nahi bureau bhi hai...dono seniors ke absence me kaam ka kitna pressure hai pata hai tumhe lekin na
DIG interrupted sternly: Pradyuman voh koi chutti pe nahi hai samjhe already bahot busy hai aur tumhare paas temporarily senior officers lene ka option hai jo ki tumhi accept nahi kar rahe ho...
ACP stiffly: Mujhe naye officers nahi chahiye sir mein yeh clear kar chuka hu...( eyed at Abhijeet who was standing down head ) mujhe team me apne train kiye aur apne select kiye hue officers pasand hai aur bass vohi bureau me kaam kar sakte hai aur koi nahi...aur rahi baat iss case ki toh aap kuch aur officers appoint kar lijiye jisse Abhijeet pe pressure kam ho jaaye aur firr bureau bhi dekh paaye ( DIG clutched his fists while he added strictly ) Abhijeet mujhe umeed hai tum jaldi regularly bureau join karoge...
DIG in anger: Voh officially yaha
ACP interrupted firmly: Mein apne officer se baat kar raha hu sir aur mujhe ( stressed ) hum dono me koi interruption pasand nahi hai...
DIG angrily: Pradyuman tumhe
Abhijeet interrupted silently-strongly: Mein jald hi bureau ka kaam sambhalunga sir no problem...
DIG looked at him in disappointment while ACP eyed at both and said firmly: Good bureau aana kal aur mein hi cases ki briefings dunga tumhe...
Abhijeet nodded silently and ACP glancing at them once left with strong steps...
DIG softly: Abh
Abhijeet interrupted in a low tone: Excuse me sir...
DIG sighed and nodded while he left with fast steps...
After some time at ACP sir's home;
ACP directly entered his study room in rage followed by his helpless friend, Dr. Salunkhe
ACP entering in shut the door with a bang then angrily shoved off the files from the table and kicked the chair hard which directly hit a far away potted plant that fell on the ground, breaking into pieces and spreading mud on the floor. He harshly pulled down the curtains and the rod fell down breaking a show-piece into pieces. He hardly pushed the table and a water glass fell down breaking and splashing water around.
Salunkhe was listening to all the loud breaking sounds from outside and sighing heavily looked up once praying to save him from the anger. He for a minute prepared to face this angry lion and then cautiously opened the door to avoid anything that might fell upon him.
He glanced in and got shocked to see the totally upside-down condition of the ever well-maintained study room. His mouth opened wide that it was ACP Pradyuman himself who was spoiling his study as everyone knows how much possessive he is regarding this particular room.
Salunkhe entered hurriedly and shockingly asked: Baat kya hai boss itna kyu gussa ho rahe ho haan ?
ACP shouting: Yeh DIG Keshav samjhta kya hai apne aapko kuch bhi karte rahenge...bolte rahenge aur mein chup chap beitha rahunga haan...( extremely angry ) tujhe pata hai aaj kya kiya unhone... kya bola mujhe ( shouting badly ) voh Abhijeet ko hum sab ke khilaf bhadka rahe hai aur apne saath Delhi leke jaana chahte hai...aur aaj head quar
He suddenly started coughing hardly and his voice choked due to shouting while Salunkhe getting tensed instantly went near him and rubbed his back...
Salunkhe hurriedly called: Ramu zara paani laao jaldi...
Some moments later, Ramu hurriedly rushed in with a glass of water and handed it to Salunkhe who attached it with ACP sir's lips and made him drink some sips.
Salunkhe in tension: Sambhalo boss... Ramu coffee bhejwa dena ander jaldi
Ramu nodded: Ji...
He went out while Salunkhe made ACP sir sit on the couch who was panting. He sat beside and softly rubbed his shoulder
Seeing him a little calm, Salunkhe softly: Kya baat hai boss hmm batao mujhe yarr
ACP held his head in his hands while breathing heavily, Salunkhe silently gave him the time he wants to take...
After a minute, ACP fairing a hand on his face: Aaj HQ me mein Abhijeet ko dhund raha tha ( Salunkhe nodded ) DCP sahab ne bataya voh ( chewingly ) DIG Keshav ke cabin me hai ( Salunkhe sighed ) Mein gaya uss taraf toh Abhijeet dikh gaya aur mein thodi der vahi khada raha toh voh DIG aagaye ( angrily ) aur uske baad mere se sawal jawab karne lage ki mujhe kyu milna hai Abhijeet se...( clutched his fists ) aur jaanta hai kya kaha unhone ( Salunkhe looked at him while he said chewingly ) Unhone indirectly mujhe warning di ki voh Abhijeet ko le jayenge ( Salunkhe shocked ) agar ussi waqt Abhijeet nahi aaya hota na toh mein bata raha hu Salunkhe aaj mujhse kuch ho jaata uss Keshav ka...
At an isolated place on the outskirts;
A man in a smile: Salaam sahab...bahot time baad dikhe apun ko
Another man annoyingly: Voh sab chodd itna bata kaam hua ya nahi ?
The man proudly: Kya sahab iss Mangu ne aapka koi kaam adhura choda hai kya...( naughty ) Senior Inspector Abhijeet sir ka gussa ka saamna thodi karna hai iss bachche ko...
Abhijeet disappointed: Abe nautanki ki dukan yeh bata ki adda kaha hai unka...
Mangu seriously in a low tone: Sahab ( indicating a secluded area ) yaha se dai mudne pe jo godam hai vahi khabar mili hai chupe hone ki...
Abhijeet took off his sunglasses and looked around inspecting the place. After a moment;
Abhijeet taking out his gun and checking the bullets: Theek hai tu nikal mein dekhta hu...
Mangu shocked: Sahab aap akele matt jaiye ander bahot khatra hai...baaki logo ko
Abhijeet annoyingly interrupted: Tera kaam hogaya na nikal firr ( looked around murmuring ) sab logo ko aajkal salah hi deni hai
Mangu hesitantly trying again: Sahab aap ( He stopped in mid getting an angry glare so said hurriedly ) apun jaata hai sahab salam...
He instantly went away while Abhijeet shook his head in disappointment...
Abhijeet loading his gun said in determination: Kya hoga...Zyada se zyada mar hi jaunga na... saari ki saari fasad ki jadd hi khatam...
He jerked his head and moved forward...
Salunkhe was tensed regarding such anger of his friend. Both stayed silent for some time when,
Salunkhe in a low tone: Tumne Abhijeet se kuch baat ki ?
ACP jerked his head: Usse pehele hi dimag kharab kar diya mera ( stiffly ) Abhijeet ko meine saaf saaf bol diya hai ki bureau aana shuru kare bahot ho gaya case vagera...
Salunkhe praying to hear a negative answer asked in hesitation: Tumne use daata toh nahi na ?
ACP looked away: Voh ussi waqt aaya tha jab DIG Keshav ne yeh sab bakwas ki toh mein thoda gusse me hi tha...( he looked down )
Salunkhe sighed heavily and faired both hands on his face trying to understand the situation...
