CHAPTER 8.
The truth revealed.
Hey guys! ….
Yeah. Sorry!
I missed so many months of updating this that I really have no excuse. Hehehe…. My Bad!
I've been so busy with school, and out of school activities, it has been really hard to keep up! I know. I know. It's no excuse! Please don't hate me.
I've read all of the books since I've begun writing this so it does take place after Scorpia Rising instead of Nightshade.
I'm also planning to start some crossovers and other stories- probably a Chuck and Alex Rider Crossover and different Alex Rider ones. Probably reveal fics because they're my favorite.
I don't own Alex Rider. Enjoy!
Recap:
"Did Jack know you were a spy?"
"Yes," he answered quietly.
"What happened to her?"
Alex stopped talking. His mouth set in a grim line. "Well-" he started.
He didn't get any further. Saved by the door opening. It's either going to be good or bad… he trailed off.
There in the door- or more like being thrown in- was Fox.
"Fox!?" Alex exclaimed. He stared at the door, wincing as he moved too fast for his wounds to handle. "Geez…" he trailed off, glaring at his back as much as he could- though it had done nothing wrong- Dr. Three was responsible for that. He set his eyes forwards as his companion was launched through the cell doors.
Fox grunted as he hit the ground with a grotesque, terrifying Crack! making Alex wince. Cry's could be heard from the Brookland group of fright and surprise. Someone gave a sob, just reminding him that there was innocent people with them- kidnapped- because of him.
Fox clutched his shoulder and tried to refrain from yelling out in pain. "Shoot…" he ground out. Alex knew he was silently cursing, and that he had at least dislocated his shoulder, if not something worse- Alex couldn't tell.
The man who was at the door snarled. "Found your little friend trying to break in. You're lucky. The others got away. But we'll get them…. Hopefully not alive…." He trailed off, smirking at the teenaged spy, ignoring the glare Alex was shooting at the man.
Alex gave an audible growl and continued shooting daggers at the man. If only looks could kill…
"You won't get away with this," Alex snarled. "MI6 already knows what happened. They know I was visiting…."
Alex stopped and thought about his next words. His eyes narrowed as he said, "Someone at the cemetery. They know where I am. Just waiting for the right moment to storm this junk-house."
His face was like it was chiseled of stone. Like he was daring the SCORPIA employee to call his bluff.
Alex was unlucky. The man didn't buy his bluff. Instead, he burst out, guffawing.
"Hah!" he chortled. "Right, yeah like we would believe that." ….. But, inside, the man wasn't so sure, even though they had all been warned that Alex Rider could play a trick, or a bluff, and play it well.
Alex growled at the man. "Just you wait and see," he snarled.
The man smirked and gave one last look at the prisoners before turning away so the spy wouldn't see his expression: worry. But he didn't actually believe the teenager.
"That little-" Alex started.
"Alex," Fox rapped harshly. "There's no point in starting."
"Right." Alex glared at the door, ignoring any pain from his back as he twisted to observe the door to the cell.
One of the Brooklyn kids cleared their throat.
Alex turned to look at Mark. "Yes?" He almost smiled at Mark's impatient manor.
"Are we going to escape, Alex? What's going to happen?" he said quietly, almost in a whisper.
Alex looked at the fear on everyone's face. He sighed. "Well, what's going to happen, that I don't really know, but-"
He was cut off by the door swinging open to reveal Three and some of his goons.
"I'll tell you what's going to happen, Alex," Three smirked. "I can guarantee that you won't like it."
"I can stand it," Alex spat. "You haven't done anything yet, Three that I can't stand, except for talking to you. That's the thing that'll break me, Three. Your incessant babbling about ruling the world and suffering, and making me pay for everything I've done, and Blah Blah Blah Blah. You need to learn how to shut-up."
Three glowered. "I hoped you would be smarter than that, Alex. I can always put a bullet through your buddies head," he smirked.
Alex reluctantly became quiet. He still remained to glare at the doctor and his goons, thinking things that shouldn't be said out-loud if there were other ears around- it was bad.
"Fine," Alex continued. "What do you want now, Three? What could you possibly want?"
The room was silent, the tension unbearable, the students of Brooklyn scared into remission.
"I want to reveal your past," he said.
"Hate to tell you, Three, but they sort of already know everything. I already told them. Plus, if you haven't been in the loop, you kidnapped all of us because of my past with you guys. So yeah. They know. There's no point."
"I'm guessing you hadn't yet to tell them about your dear friend Jack."
Alex froze and turned to Three, his voice strained. "They know."
"Oh, but you're bluffing, Rider," he sneered. "We know exactly what you told your friends, and we know you didn't tell them the truth. Face it boy, we have ears everywhere. We have eyes everywhere. We know everything; you wouldn't expect us to keep an eye on you?"
"Of course I expect it. You really don't want me to destroy you guys and stop you from taking over or destroying the world or whatever it is that you do." Alex rolled his eyes.
Fox gave a throaty growl at Three and his goons. "What's the point of this?" he asked in exasperation.
Three gave a malicious smile. "To show you what really happened."
A large, sleek, black screen was wheeled in on top of a grey cart that looked like it had seen better days. Alex smirked.
"Couldn't afford to buy some nice things?" Alex laughed. "That cart has seen better days, Three. And the T.V. What? I affected you guys that much that you had to make budget cuts? I'm that talented that the world's reigning crime ring or group- whatever- had to make budget cuts?"
Alex snorted in laughter, while Fox tried to hold back laughter. A gun cocked. Alex reluctantly shut-up.
"That's better," Three said. "And you won't be laughing once we show this."
"Try me."
"As you wish"
The screen flickered on, and an image of Alex, tied in a chair with wires and surrounded by medical equipment of all sorts, next to a boy that looked exactly like him and, Alex noticed, Razim.
He shuddered, and continued to glare at Three. The realization dawned.
"No," he said, barely a hoarse whisper. "Three, what's the point of this?" Alex asked in the beginning of panic.
"What do you think?" he snarled.
Alex bit back a sarcastic comment and looked at the screen. He found he couldn't peel his eyes away, just like he hadn't been able to look away from the actual video of Jack's death.
Fox looked to Alex with worry. "Alex…?"
Alex wasn't paying attention to his friend's question. He was trying his best to set his face to stone as the video played and Three laughed in the background.
Sabina touched his arm slightly, and he looked to her with thanks. There was a reason he didn't tell anyone about Jack. The memories were too hard, too difficult to remember. He felt guilty, too. Like it was his fault; his own fault for being a spy and getting involved with Scorpia- that his enemies took it out on Jack just to hurt him.
He closed his eyes as the video played but he couldn't block out the sounds of Jack knocking out the guard- the escape that seemed too easy. Him screaming for Julius and Razim to stop. To do anything to him as long as they don't hurt Jack.
Then he heard the explosion. Alex flinched like a 18-wheeler was headed straight for him. Sabina's grip grew tighter.
He knew she was dead. He distantly heard himself in the video screaming. Tortured by her death. The laughs of Julius and Razim.
"No!" he screamed.
It took him a second to realize that it was him-now-that was screaming. He never thought he'd have to watch that video again. He didn't realize how hard it would be.
The room was silent except for Three's chuckles, like every person was holding their breath.
He didn't realize that he'd left Sabina's grip, ignoring the pain of his wounds, and swung himself at , yelling angrily. "You bastard!"
He managed to punch the mad man in the face, a guaranteed bruise later and a bloody nose. The doctor withdrew angrily and in pain, before one of the guards swung back at Alex, knocking him to the ground with a cry of pain.
Three glared at the teen, elegantly wiping blood from his nose. "Restrain him." He turned to Alex. "That was stupid, Alex."
Alex groaned and turned over. "Worth it," he muttered with a grin.
While he was smiling on the outside, he silently cringed on the inside. How was he going to get out of this one?
"I have a very special plan to surprise you, Alex. You won't be laughing soon."
"Yeah, I bet," Alex sniped.
With the final comment, Three took a gun and took the end of it, striking Alex in the temple.
His world went black.
