Warwick was walking the halls feeling how his pockets were 20 Lien emptier after that bet with Flare. He shook his head, hoping to borrow some cash from Auron if he needed it.
"Warwick!" Meimei called out.
Warwick shot up, having been lost in his own thoughts before turning and seeing Meimei. "Meimei! Is your friend Riley alright?" he asked, remembering how they and Flare had left earlier.
"Oh she's fine. Just being Riley," she said with a dismissive wave. "Hey Warwick, you know a wolf Faunus named Arain?"
"Oh?" Warwick asked, tilting his head. "Arian...? Why are you asking for him?"
"Me and my friends, Sun and Don got teamed up with him."
Warwick gave her a pitiful look. "...I'm so terribly sorry for the three of you. Yes, yes, let me get you to his dorm," he says, starting to head down to the dorms.
Meimei followed him. "Arain can't be that bad, can he?"
"...we kicked him from our team," Warwick answered, shrugging. "And he could be one of the last Faunus in the world and still not be asked to join the White Fang."
"Well, I'm sure I could teach him a few tricks," she said, jokingly pulling out her hunter's knife.
He chuckled, walking by through the dorm hall. "If you can teach him to be nice, I'd buy your lunch for the rest of the year."
"I'll hold you to that."
"I keep my promises...have to since I told Flare I'd pay him twenty Lien if Riley wound up beating Shiro..."
"Trust me, I'll have Arian rolling over and begging within the week." Meimei giggled. "By the way, think you could buy me a bottle of water?"
Warwick laughed, nodding. "Absolutely, Meimei, after I show you your dorm," he says, walking up to a door and knocking on it twice.
"Vacated, Warwick!" A voice called from the other side as the gentleman opened the door, looking to see the wolf on the other side. "Arian...how joyous...you have a team..."
"A team?!" Arian gasped, smiling wide really quick.
"Hello, Arian. My name is Meimei Shui Hua." She gave a small bow. "I'm your new teammate. The other two are a little preoccupied."
Arian looked to her, a small smile on his face. "H-hello...I was honestly a little worried Ozpin was gonna just drop me out..." he says, looking to Warwick.
"Nah, you're here to stay...just keep your chin up and quit being an ass."
"Thank you, Warwick. That'll be all. Just remember to get me a bottle of water." Meimei stepped into the dorm.
Warwick nodded. "Of course, Meimei...and remember our wager." He chuckles, stepping out of the room.
Arian scratched his head, looking at her. "W-wager?"
"Eh, nothing, nothing." She sat down on the nearest bed. "Soo..."
"W-well...I am Arian Silther, cousin of Warwick," he said, shuffling a little, as though he didn't know quite what to say.
They say a picture says a thousand words, and it'd be true for Arian's room. He was a closeted nerd, enjoying older cartoon movies, having replicas of older legendary weapons, and even appeared to have several shadow boxes based on tall tales told in Remnant, such as the tale of the four sisters and the old man.
Meimei looked around the room. "Nice collection you have." She started browsing the cartoons. "Something tells me you'd get along great with Don."
Arian's eyes widened, his tail starting to wag. "Don? Is he another of our new team members?" he asked, his smile growing bigger.
"Yeah. He's a lion Faunus. And Sun's a mink. Don's out looking for a job, and Sun's probably eating."
"Ooooh...well, I'll be happy to welcome them in with open arms," he says. "What about you, Meimei? Any hobbies?"
"Photography and drawing... I also like to train dogs. That's a lot of fun." She was struggling to keep a straight face at that.
"Train...dogs?" he asked, stopping his tail. He noticed her struggling to keep a straight face, sighing as he turned away. "Ugh...just like those of Atlas..." he says, shaking his head.
"What? What'd I say?"
Arian stopped himself, taking in a calming breath. "Sorry, I thought you were taking a jab at my...features," he says, his tail wagging again. "Wouldn't be the first time...or the last."
"Oh, no, I genuinely love dogs...though I love cats more..."
Arian's smile returned. "I adore cats! Ugh, if only they had allowed pets here...I would've brought Socks along."
Meimei smiled. "I bet she's adorable."
"She is," he answered, pulling hisScroll out and pulling up a picture of himself and an older cat that had three black 'socks'.
"Awww. She's so cute!"
"Thank you, but she's getting up there, roughly 13 in this picture."
"Well, if you take good care of her, she may live to her 30s." Meimei shrugged. "Even if she doesn't live to be that old, you've still got plenty of time with her."
"Yeah...I just hope to see her when we're off for the summer."
"You will... Where's Warwick with my water?"
Arian gave her a short shrug. "Could've forgotten," he says, moving to open his minifridge and tossed her a bottle. "Take one of mine."
"Thanks." She took a drink. "...Are you really the same Arian the school won't stop complaining about? You're being more of a gentleman than your cousin."
"...the very same," he answered, grabbing his own bottle. "I'm not one to fare well with others...started off in Atlas...and while it's overlooked, I've done some minor good here."
"...You wanna know about the wager Warwick mentioned?"
"...was it about making me nicer?" he asked, a small smirk growing on his face.
Meimei nodded. "I joked I could train you, he said if I did, he'd buy me lunch all year."
His smirk grew wider. "Really? He wagered a year of lunch on 'training' me?" He scratched his chin. "You interested in winning it?"
She nodded. "Definitely. I lost my wallet, I'm broke."
"Then I'll help you, most definitely. That'll knock Warwick off his high horse."
Meimei grinned. "This'll be fun."
"Agreed...but, we're in our own little space. We can just chill out for now."
Sorry about how long this chapter took. I'm proofing my friends' fanfics, I stopped to write Hitori Kakurenbo, I'm watching Kimba as research for a fanfic, and the forum I regularly RP on crashed thanks to a troll and one of my cats died.
