Authors Note(Apology) Looks at readers in the audience with a smile, then lips begin to quiver and shake. Eyes begin watering till full tears run down his face.
I'm soooo sorry i haven't updated in forever, i wanted to so bad but my computer started messing up. It got so bad that I had to replace it, and with all this crap going on computers are more expensive than what i remember. Then once i got a better job, i wanted to get it but with bills, payment and necessities i needed i had to put the story on hold even longer.
So please accept my humble apologies and bear with me if my info gets wonky in the story when i go further out since it's been awhile.
Chapter 8: Search for the scientist
Phantom and Huntress flew their way to the Techno spirit and his lackey stayed during the battle. As they flew the goon pointed towards a hill that overlooked the town, the look between the two ghost hunters sending a silent message as they descended down below to the ground. Once on solid earth, they immediately were on guard scanning the area around them. Seeing and sensing that nothing around them, Danny and Valerie started searching the hilltop with the goon always in their sights. Valerie looked towards her friend, sending a silent signal to him to come to her. Seeing this, Danny made his way over to her and asked,
"What's up Val? Did you find something?"
Valerie shook her head and replied, "No, i was just about to ask you the same thing but seeing that you just asked me i'm going to go on a limb and say you didn't find anything either."
"Nothing, aside from the faint ecto-energy in the air here i can't find out where Technus could be." said Danny
Valerie putting her hand to chin in thought, "Don't you think it's weird that Technus isn't here? I mean it's the perfect place to see the city. That way he can direct all his troops accordingly on where to go."
Nodding his head to her judgement, he said "It is strange that he isn't here, maybe he cut his losses and left or he might have gone somewhere else to keep the battle going."
"More than likely that he probably chose to go somewhere else to continue trouble, knowing him he left knowing we were coming so that way we would lose his trail. But where, where would he go to continue this battle?" Questioned Valerie as she looked at the city, hoping that they would figure out the answer.
Danny then turned his attention to their prisoner, "Where is he and if you lie I swear you will know what true pain is." He threatened with his body glowing green while the goon trembled in fear.
"I swear on my afterlife my lord, he was here when it all started he told us that when we attack the town he would be here." Said the lackey while the ghost hunters looked between each other and nodded.
"Technus probably told that to all his troops so that if any of them tried to betray him, he would be able to disappear with his troops none the wiser." said Danny thoughtfully.
"That's really clever, and Technus isn't a fool but where else could he be? There is nowhere else he can go to still control his troops." States Valerie
"Umm pardon me milord but this isn't all of us." spoke the lackey.
Turning sharply to the spirit, Danny and Valerie looked at the lackey with shock and disbelief in their eyes. Then composing themselves Valerie asked, "What do you mean that this isn't all of you. Are you trying to psyche us out by saying this to us, or are you talking about the others that are going against us."
"None of that miss we were just the psiloi and the peltastai, all we do is soften up the enemy before Commander Technus sends in the legions that are under his command. That is when we finish the offensive attack with one fell swoop." said the lackey.
His eyes widening, Danny asked him "Who else in your forces will be coming and how many will be here?"
"It will be hoplitai who will come in and at the very least it will be three hundred strong milord, I do not know where they will come from since he blocked off our entrance to this city once he trapped everyone here. I do know that once they come through, they will not be opposed unless the royal family where to stand in their way. And maybe some of your friends as well if you all are lucky to survive after this battle." spoke the lackey
"We need to find Technus if it means stopping those soldiers of his from coming through to Amity Park. The big question is finding him since he won't just leave from trapping us here, especially after all the work that he has done to get to this point. What do you think about all this Danny?" Valerie asked while looking over at the city as they heard the violence beginning to dim down.
Danny began to think about all the events that happened today and what might have some connection to where he went. Trying to find out any sort of way that can tell the whereabouts of the mad scientists. Then an epiphany hit him as he turned to Valerie about where he could possibly be in the city.
"Val, I think I know two possible places might be in right now and none of them are good for any of us." said Danny.
"I'm starting to get the feeling that I am not going to like any of those options Danny." Growls Valerie as she looks at him in agitation.
"He can only go where we are the most vulnerable at this time, which is the east side of town so that the reinforcements outflank my family and City hall where the police barely made it out of the first wave. And it looks like the psiloi and peltastai are almost spent fighting my family from the looks of it." says Danny as he looked into the city as the three of them could hear the lessening conflict.
"I will take the goon here with me to town hall to aid the boys in blue. That way you can go help protect your family, go back to the east side of town and who knows you might run into Technus and end all of this." said Valerie
"That's the thing I don't think this is ending anytime soon Valerie. If anything this is only the beginning of all this." Danny sighed, shaking his head at all that happened today.
With a slight smile, Valerie put a hand on her ex's shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile as she said, "Everything will be alright Danny, especially with your friends and family by your side."
Danny looked at her and saw sincerity in her eyes and smiled saying, "Thanks Val, what would I do without a friend like you? And I mean that with no sarcasm or joking like I usually do in moments like this."
"I don't know, maybe having your butt kicked and without anybody to save your sorry ass?" asked Valerie with a smirk.
"Ha ha, I forgot how to laugh Val after all that has happened in my life." sarcastically said Danny with a smile.
Then the two ghost hunters joked a while longer as they flew out to the city with the goon in tow and then separated out to guard the people that were still fighting for their home.
