Born Again

Hushed arguing penetrated through the drowsy blackness that incased my being. There was an annoying beeping near my head, scrunching my face it forced my eyes open just the slightest bit, groaning as I did so. Yep, in the hospital; I need to get out of here. I slowly drag my hands up the side of the bed, there was a button thing somewhere here. Forcing my eyes open hurt but paid off. Remote/ pager in hand I pressed the button' hopefully a nurse would be able to tell me if I could be discharged. I looked around the room, the window of the far side wasn't dark so I hopefully haven't been out all that long. The door opened allowing in a rather tall Asian woman, her bleached hair looking washed out in the bright lighting. "Hello, Zetsumei-Kun!" She chirped quietly; she checked some documents before bustling over to my bedside and checking some machines next to me. "How are you feeling? Any pains, nausea?"

"None." I denied and was surprised when I realized that it was true: there was no more pain. "That is wonderful. Now I have a few more questions for you. Your father and mother have been contacted, and some friends of yours are here. So after that, I can let them in if you are feeling up to it." She explained, her tone held some distasted at saying 'friends'. "Okay, I can do that."

"Alright, before losing consciousness, were you feeling at all ill?"

"Yes, a headache that led to nausea."

"A migraine then, do you get those often?" I nodded at this question. "Your mother said you were on medications for it, is this true, and if so how often?" She asked, looking back up at me. I sat for a moment: trying to remember if I had to take them recently. "It's not like every few days, rather a few times a month. They have like a warning? Usually, I get an odd craving for salty things before one starts to develop and that was a few weeks ago, I didn't get that this time. I felt fine and then I walked outside and it was there. Other than that I don't take the medication unless I have to." She nodded as she jotted something down. "Have they gotten worse since you started the medication?"

"Not at all; they have lessened actually."

"Alright! Did you want me to let in your… friends and parents?"

"Uh, just my parents, please."

"Okay, they should be right in then."

As she shut the door I adjusted to get more comfortable, settling just as the door burst open and my father came in, my mother not far behind him. "Are you alright Cerin?" My father rushed. "I feel fine. It was just a migraine, I think. All the screaming and the light from outside probably made it worse." My father sagged a bit; while my mother clutched at my hand. "Your friends brought you here after what happened. The strange one said his grandfather would –"

"What friends?" I asked, confused. I didn't have friends, so that made no sense; the only ones there were, oh. "That Ryuzaki boy, the Yagami kid, and a blonde girl." The way his mother curled her lip at 'girl' let me know Misa did or said something she found distasteful. "They are not my friends, and I don't know any blonde females."

"Oh, well… the two boys wanted to know if you were alright. Yagami-Kun seemed rather insistent." I cringed at my father's tone. "I am not dating either of them, either." Though if I could, I'd like to get to know L, but that was laughable. "Oh, good, they seemed rather creepy, dear."

"Ako!" My father breathed, obviously shocked. She shrugged at him before completely changing the subject to waiting for the doctor and getting me discharged.

A few hours later

So apparently, fainting in front of L is suspect behavior. "You what?"

"I believe you are the second Kira." He stated as if we were discussing the weather. "You're serious, aren't you?" I asked disbelievingly. He simply stared at me with his dark shadowed eyes. "I'm going to die for getting credit for this; what did I do? I don't think I led a terrible life; I was good." I mumbled to myself. If I hadn't needed to be left overnight for observation: I could be home, away from Mr. Percent right here. You have information on the case already. My eyes shoot up to look at him in disbelief. "Okay, it's splashed all over the news; people all want to talk about Kira." He continued to watch me from the chair he was crouched on. This man could not be serious right now. "And the other deaths you found?" I stopped panicking, my insides running cold. "W-what?" There hadn't been another cross marked in ages; just how long had this sleepless bastard been watching me? This was a deviation I hadn't accounted for; had he started the surveillance sooner?

Found the flash drive. I am not making any excuses for how long it took to update.
