Proving Grounds
As they came to the proving grounds, walking in, Lenna approached to find Harrowmont's champions who appeared were named to Baizyl Harrowmont and a man named Gwiddon. who had quit? She had heard people mention their names, and found them, it turned out Lenna was right, they were being blackmailed, and so Lenna did what she could to prevent them from being able to fight for Harrowmont.
Lenna then went to the proving master, "So you seem to be one of the wardens it seems. What are you doing down here though?"
"I am here to fight in the name of lord Harrowmont."
"Oh that is good to hear. What would you prefer to be called?"
"Grey Warden is fine."
"Of course, just tell me when you are ready."
"I am ready now."
"Good, then we can start the tournament on time. I will let you know when it is time to begin." Lenna and her friends stood in a corner with each other.
Lenna starts inspecting her blades carefully as they had managed to wait. It was a long two hours before she was finally called up, she sheathed her weapons and approached the Proving master.
"Are you prepared Warden?" He asked looking up at her.
She nods, "Aye, let's begin."
They watched her walk into the ring. And heard the Proving master's voice booming as he spoke over the cheering crowds, "This is a glory proving, fought under the eyes of the Paragons of Orzammar to honor the memory of King Endrin!" He continued speaking as Lenna stood in the middle of the ring, hands-on her swords, "First up is Seweryn of the Warrior Caste. Many of you remember when Seweryn made history as a lad of twelve by defeating his own father in this very ring."
Seweryn eyed Lenna and motioned her to be inside the circle across from him out of respect for their battle. She moved into place as The proving master finished, "Today, he fights as a champion of Prince Bhelen, Opposing him in Lord Harrowmont's name is a member of the famed Grey Wardens!" The crowd went wild as he finished.
Finally the surely black-bearded warrior spoke, "In the name of house Aeducan and our future king Bhelen!"
Lenna bowed her head as her father taught her to in single combat, "You honor me with this fight." She spoke humbly as she draws her blade, and took her stance.
The man seemed surprised by this reaction, such etiquette from a woman he was about to best. He matched her bow as the Proving master began again, "The first warrior to fall is vanquished! Ready…fight!" He shouts.
Suddenly the match begins the dwarf bangs his sword against his shield charging for Lenna and swings at her, just as he got to her she jumped over him skillfully, and slashed at him from behind, taking him off guard, and causing him to stumble. It was a few more times of her easily parrying his weapon, and it seemed she was used to fighting against people like him. She took nicks here and there, but he didn't notice how weak it was making him, and with him only managing a slice down her thigh he didn't notice but he was feeling light-headed and he was stumbling. She appeared behind him once again, as she thrust her weapon into the back of his chest, "May the stone keep you…" She spoke softly, she didn't want to kill him, but she knew she could not let him live in dishonor. She pulled her blade out and the crowd went wild when the man fell.
The proving master's voice was loud once more, "And the winner, The Grey Warden!" She exited the proving grounds letting the other first-round comediator's complete their first rounds. She cleaned her weapons back with her friends as they waited patiently. So many dwarves fell to Lenna's skillful combat. Finally, it was the final round.
"Only two warriors remain. Fighting for his royal cousin Bhelen, Piotin Aeducan has led his team to triumph over every unit so far!" The proving master spoke proudly, "And challenging him on behalf of Lord Harrowmont, the Grey Warden has risen from nothing to stand at the competition's summit! Each will lead a full unit of four soldiers to see once and for all whom the ancestors favor!"
Piotin spoke to the warden, "You fight well, but your judgment is questionable. The throne will never leave House Aeducan."
Lenna smirked, she knew how to play the game of politics, and spoke, "I dedicate my triumph to Harrowmont's victory!"
Harrowmont's The other two champions fought with her, as did Morrigan. This time knowing they had been studying her they didn't expect her to duck out of combat, she pulled out her bow standing near Morrigan and began to shoot the enemies. Morrigan made an amazing chill the dwarves had a problem handling and it seemed this would be Piotin's last sunset. The four dwarves laid dead.
Finally the other two dwarves looked up at her, "Thank you, warden. You have restored our honor. We are forever in your debt."
"It was my honor to fight beside you both."
"The winner is the Grey Warden!" The proving master called out, "Congratulations, you defeated the man Prince Trian himself once called 'the horns of my army'. Do any deny this grey warden has earned the championship?" He looks around, waiting for a few minutes and all was quiet, "Then it is my honor to declare this grey warden champion of the proving, who has shown that the ancestors favor, Lord Harrowmont!"
Some men cheered, and others booed at this idea.
Lenna bowed, "It was an honor to step foot where few outsiders have been allowed to be." At this moment they left the ring, rejoining her friends.
"That was an amazing spectacle!" Wynne seemed surprised.
Lenna nods, "Let's head to the inn near here, I have a feeling we may run into Harrowmont's second."
Lenna leads her friends to the inn, purchasing enough rooms to allow them all to sleep in at least some comfort.
She found Dulin and sat across from him, "It is done. And Harrowmont's champions fought for him, as well as myself."
Dulin nods, finishing his mead, "Good good, are you ready to meet Lord Harrowmont since you have proven yourself trustworthy?"
She nods, "Aye, let's get this started." She stood and walked out with Dulin, not realizing she was being followed very stealthily by Zevran. The assassin didn't want anyone to try and harm the warden he came to trust.
