Steve woke up the next morning smelling the coffee coming from the kitchen, and he thought it was very strange. He got up from bed and went downstairs, and thought it was even weirder to have two kids watching TV sitting on his couch.

"Good morning," Debby said when she saw him.

"Good morning," Steve answered friendly even without knowing who she was. He went to the kitchen and had a surprise. "Catherine? What are you doing here?"

Catherine smiled and interpreted his question as a joke. "I'm making breakfast," she answered.

"What do you mean you're making breakfast? And where did those children sitting in the room come from?"

Catherine noticed by the tone of his voice that he was not kidding and started to worry. "They're our children, Steve."

"We have no children, Catherine, and we never will. You left three days ago after you told me that I wasn't enough for you.

"Oh Steve... I don't know what to say..." Catherine was not understanding what was going on in his head. "What do you remember?" She asked.

"What do I remember? I remember spending the last two days regretting that you were gone, hearing that I wasn't enough to make you happy. Take these children to their homes and get out of my house!"

Catherine put out the fire so the children's pancakes wouldn't burn. He went to the room and Catherine followed him. "Steve, that really happened, but it was nine years ago. You had amnesia, and I think part of your memory is back now."

Steve was furious because all he could think about was the fact that she was gone. He looked at the kids and didn't understand anything, didn't know why they were there. He pointed his finger at Catherine and said some very harsh things. "I can't look at your face. Get out of my house!" He walked out the door and the children were scared.

Catherine was completely out of action and her legs did not obey her command.

A few minutes later, Mary and Joan arrived at Steve and Catherine's house and Debby opened the door. The girl was crying and Mary was worried. "What happened Debby?"

"Daddy had a fight with mommy and she got sick. Come Aunt Mary, help Mommy!"

Mary entered the house and found Catherine with her trembling hands trying to get off the floor. "Catherine!" Mary ran to help her.

"He told me to go away, Mary. He said he can't stand to look at me."

"I'll call an ambulance, Catherine."

Steve was agitated and nervous when he arrived at headquarters. He entered the office with firm steps, but retreated when he saw Junior, Tani and Quinn around the smart table. He looked around to make sure he was in the right office. "Good morning," he greeted them with a suspicious look.

"Good morning," they answered already realizing that he did not recognize them.

Steve looked and saw Danny sitting in his office and went to him. "Hey, Danny. Who are those people and what are they doing here at headquarters?"

Danny was surprised by his visit and the fact that he recognized him. He got up and tried to hug him. "Steve? Are you okay?"

Steve was too agitated and dodged the hug. "No Danny, I'm not okay. I've spent the last two days suffering like a stray dog because Catherine left me standing on that porch with a wedding ring in my hands and left. And today, to my surprise, I find her in the kitchen making pancakes as if nothing had happened. And there were still two unknown children sitting on my couch. Either she's crazy, or she wants to drive me crazy".

Danny understood what was happening in his friend's mind and thought of the best way to talk to him. "She's not crazy, Steve. She really went away and you really suffered like an abandoned dog, but that was nine years ago. You've resumed the relationship a few years ago and those cute kids sitting on your couch are really your children. You were suffering from total amnesia and now it seems that your memory has returned to a certain part of your life".

"You and Catherine set up a plot against me? I don't have kids, Danny!"

"Wait a minute," Danny opened his desk drawer and took a small mirror. "Look at you," Danny gave him the mirror.

Steve looked in the mirror and saw his beard with many white threads, the wrinkles around his eyes, his frowning forehead. He passed his hand across his face and looked very upset. "How can this be true, Danny?"

"You're sick, Steve. So much has happened in those nine years... you disappeared three years ago and Catherine found you a short time ago. Those were very difficult times for her. You shouldn't fight with her."

Steve still kept his hand on his face. "I said some really hard things to her," Steve murmured as if he was thinking out loud.

"Then I suggest you apologize. No one fought as hard for you as she did."

"If all this stuff you're telling me is true, I have so many questions," Steve told Danny.

"I know. And answering his first question, those people there are called Tani, Junior, and Quinn. They work with us now," Danny answered.

"What about Chin and Kono?"

"They don't live in Hawaii anymore. They're gone," Danny answered.

"And I don't work here anymore either?" Steve asked.

"No. You were considered dead, Steve. And like I said before, Catherine was the only one who fought for you, the only one who believed you were alive."

Steve took a deep breath and decided to go home. "I need to go home, Danny."

"You want me to go with you?" Danny asked him. Danny omitted the death of Doris and Joe so as not to make the mess in his head worse.

"No, Danny. I need to talk to her alone."

Steve drove back home and an ambulance passed him on the way. He found Mary comforting the kids on the porch.

"Mary?" Steve was surprised to see her.

"Hi, Steve," she answered.

Joe was crying in Mary's lap and was asking for his mother. Debby grabbed Mary's legs when Steve approached and he realized she was afraid of him. "Baby...," Steve touched her head and she clung to Mary even more.

"Give her a break, Steve. She saw her mother leave here in an ambulance."

"What? Why, Mary?"

Catherine had a nervous breakdown after you said you didn't want to look at her anymore and told her to leave the house. She didn't deserve that, Steve."

"I'm sorry, Mary," he asked.

"It's not me you should be apologizing to," Mary returned to him.

"I know, Mary. I know..."
