Author's Notes: At last the finale is here! This has been a fantastic journey since July and I truly hope you've enjoyed the ride with me. Now without wasting another second here is the finale of season one!

After a few more minutes, Henry and Logan finally finished dealing with the guards that were in the building and attacked them. Most of them were knocked out but there were a few corpses they made sure to stab in the head. They were armed with the assault rifles of the soldiers. Their faces twisted into an expression of pure horror after they burst through the door at the top of the stairs to see Gregory's mangled corpse. The left side of the skull was bashed in and still oozing blood with the skin around the eye torn off which provided a clear view of the motionless eyeball looking at them. His scalp was skinned and he was dismembered from the torso down with clear deep cut marks in his stomach. The skin on his arm was peeled off exposing the bone and yet the arm was still slightly twitching.

"Oh my god," Logan sputtered.

"What on earth did this?" Henry asked.

Logan looked at the open window with a rope leading out of it.
"Looks like we weren't his only enemies," Logan said.

"Well let's get out of here in case they come back," Henry said leaving the room.

"Sick bastard deserved it though," Logan replied, flipping off Gregory's corpse before leaving the room.

They were halfway down the stairs when the building started to shake.

"The fuck is going on?" Henry asked.

"The fire must've done a lot of damage to the foundation," Logan replied.

"What does that even mean?" Henry questioned.

"That the building is going to topple down!" Logan screamed.

The shaking suddenly stopped.

"Hah and you thought we were going to die or something," Henry chuckled.

"We still are," Logan replied as the floor crumbled below them.

The floor broke beneath them and at that point, the whole building came down. Logan and Henry slammed onto the wall as the building collapsed. Logan tried to get to the window but couldn't. The roof of the building finally made its way down and everything went black.

"Get them home, I'll catch up," Mary told Willy.

Mary noticed a guy booking it for a truck and decided to kill him since he could tell Gregory's friends that the fire and building collapsing wasn't an accident. The truck had already started and Mary barely managed to climb into the bed of the truck as it sped through the gravel trail.

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea," Mary muttered.

After an hour or two, the truck stopped at what looked like an old hospital that was dimly lit with many undamaged cars parked in the parking lot. She heard the man get out of the truck and enter the building noticing he left the keys inside the truck. Mary snagged the keys and then her eyes darted to a refueling station with a gas can and she came up with the perfect plan. Carefully picking up the gas can she went inside and doused the floor leaving a steady trail around the whole building. She had a few close calls almost getting spotted but she managed to get it ready.

"Hey stop!" a man yelled.

"What are you gonna do? Kill more of the people in my little community?" Mary asked sarcastically.

"That was Gregory he's not in charge anymore, I am, I'm Miles," he said.

"Sure the fuck he isn't in charge anymore and there's not a goddamn apocalypse happening," Mary refuted.

Mary dropped the lit match and dived out the window.

"Fuck," Miles screamed running down the hallway.

Miles turned the corner and saw his wife who was nine months pregnant and his kids burning alive.

"No!" Miles cried, grabbing a fire extinguisher from the closet.

They were screaming in agony as the fire-roasted them alive. He started using the fire extinguisher although his kids had already died soon after they were set on fire. The wife was barely clinging on to life. She succumbed to her injuries seconds after the fire went out.

"Goddamn teenagers!" Miles screamed, punching a hole in the wall, "I'll make it up to you to all of you, I promise."

Miles broke down into tears crying on the floor.

Mary quickly hopped into the truck and drove back to the camp to try and navigate back to the school from there.

Nico and Willy took Aasim and AJ back to the shack.

"What happened?" Clementine asked.

"Well we freed AJ and Aasim not to mention we killed some people," Willy answered.

"Where are Logan and Henry?" Clementine asked.

"They aren't back yet?" Nico asked.

"Damn it," Willy gasped, "They must've been crushed by the crumbling building."

Logan woke up covered in dust and debris. He tried to move but there was a big metal support beam on top of the stuff crushing him.

"Henry!" Logan called.

He received no response.

"Maybe he didn't get knocked out and went with everyone else," Logan said to himself, "No he wouldn't leave without me, he isn't an asshole. Well, he did call Clementine, Captain Cripple, but other than that he's not an asshole."

The sun was rising and shining in his eyes. He managed to free his hands pushing against the chunk of the floor on him and trying to wiggle out. The debris moved just enough for him to get about an extra five inches unstuck.

"Fuck," Logan groaned.

The sound of a truck's engine pierced the morning silence leaving Logan petrified.

"Alright, I don't wanna be free, I wanna hide," Logan panicked trying to get back under the debris.

The truck came to a stop in front of the debris and Mary hopped out.

"Mary!" Logan exclaimed.

"What the hell happened?" Mary asked.

"The fire damaged the foundation and it collapsed, I think Henry may still be somewhere in there, but I could be wrong," Logan replied.

Mary took his hand and dragged him out of the debris.

"Are you okay?" Mary asked.

"I think I might've sprained my ankle, but it'll be fine," Logan answered.

They inspected the debris and they saw Henry's legs barely uncovered and lifted him out. Henry was out like a light probably with a concussion given the size of the rock on his head. Logan and Mary picked him up and began walking towards the shack.

"So how'd the whole confronting Gregory thing go?" Mary asked.

"Uh, we didn't confront him," Logan replied.

"What do you mean you didn't?" Mary asked.

"His head was already bashed in," Logan informed her.

"By who?" Mary asked.

"The fuck if I know, but they must have really had it out for him," Logan replied.

A branch rustled above them and aimed a gun he snatched off of one of the bodies up at the trees.

"Oh you have got to be kidding," Logan scowled.

Maren was clinging to a tree branch and nervously smiling.

"Hi," she whimpered.

Logan aimed his gun at her.

"Hold on she deserves a second chance," Mary said.

"You're kidding," Logan grumbled.

"Look everyone does make mistakes and there aren't any people that she can possibly run to and spill everything," Mary explained.

"So you just wanna pretend like she isn't the reason Lukas is dead? That none of this ever happened? People don't change Mary!" Logan replied.

"No one should play judge, jury, and executioner," Mary said.

"Fine," Logan sighed, "Get down here."

"Can I get some food when we get back? It's been forever since I've eaten anything," Maren said.

"This is literally the worst idea ever," Logan muttered.

"People can change," Mary replied.

"Just watch her leave one of us for dead when we go on a supply run, I'm calling it now," Logan sighed.

They arrived at the fishing shack minutes later.

"You guys are alive!" Nico chuckled.

Only the people from the school really addressed Maren's presence everyone except Logan and Anne dismissed their concerns.

"Well I'd like to think that we won," Logan chuckled, "Ehh mostly towards the end it went bad."

Everyone was smiling as they walked back to the old school.

Logan shot a look at Maren then said, "Really bad."

The damage to the gate was easily repairable and to their surprise, no walkers had slipped in while they were gone. The school was safe and everything was fine.

"How on earth did you find Maren?" Anne asked Logan.

"She was hiding up in a tree. There's no way she could've survived up there for the week we've been here. She isn't anymore malnourished as the rest of us and isn't dehydrated," Logan replied.

"Are you insinuating something?" Anne asked.

"She must have been with people. All I'm saying is there's a storm coming," Logan replied.

Season two will be out by January 3rd.
