Hello, I'm alive! here's another chapter although it is shorter than the ones that I usually write. Happy new years as well!
Also do you guys like it when I place the summary on the top of the chapter? I mainly place it there due to my slow updates and I personally find it nice having something thing to jog my memory when coming back to a fanfic that I haven't read in awhile. Anyway I did remove it for this chapter if you guys like it or not please leave a review.
Weird Head: Thank you for your insightful view point and I have to say, initially I was somewhat just going to go for the whole bashing thing however the points that you bring up is completely true. Dumbledore didn't get the position he had through sheer dumb luck. He had manipulated and worked his ass off for what he has. Same with the twins. While I do love the fan-cannon concept of them being all but blood brothers to Harry, they really do stay as observers rather than participants of Harry's life. With these points being brought up to be I have to say that you inspire me to bring this fanfic into a better direction.
Chapter 8: Hogwarts Express
Appearing at the apparition point inside of Kings Crossing, Agatha gently pushed Harry out of the way so that there was room for Augusta and Nevile to appear without colliding into them.
" Harry!"
"Neville!"
Harry and Neville greeted each other happily before a cough reminded them of their manners. Releasing their embrace, they then jokingly greeted each other with great exaggerations.
"I mean, well greetings and salutations my heir Longbottom, how do you do and I must say that you look well throughout these times."
"A-ah, and same d-do you heir Potter.' Neville recovered giving a deep and over exaggerated bow, with a whole arm handshake.
Smiling at the antics of the two boys, the two grandmothers smiled happily. Over the short amount of time both of the boys managed to help pull each other out of their shells. It is wonderful seeing them more energetic and happier.
"I blame you Agatha, you corrupted your grandson to which he corrupted mine." Lady Longbottom joked as she jabbed Agusta in the side, watching the boys burst into giggles at their silly greetings before the two went off to snag some carts to which the house elves released the boys luggage upon with organized ease.
"Hey you brought it on yourself hun. But honestly those boys. They act as though they haven't seen each other in years."
Sheepishly screeching his cheek Harry apologized. "Sorry Grandma, but this. This is the first time we're going to Hogwarts, and that i'm going to be going to school with an actual friend! I mean like there is going to do so many things and I'm just so excited! Isn't that right Neville?"
"Ya, there's going to be so much, but I can't help but feel nervous. Sorry that we're getting so antsy like this gran. But, but like I mean what happens if we somehow get placed into a different house or something! I don't want us to stop being friends."
Looking up at his gran with watery eyes spoke about his biggest fear of going to Hogwarts. "What if I'm placed in Hufflepuff instead of Gryffindor like dad and mom. What if i'm just a failure, a squib."
Guilt stabbed Neville's grandmother. Augusta really was an awful grandmother for allowing such thoughts to fester inside of her grandson's mind, for not protecting and guiding him like she should have done. Although she had a month to come to this realization, it never struck as deeply as it did every moment. Agusta should have treated Neville like her beloved Frank and not as if he was Frank.
"Neville."
"Yes gran?"
"It doesn't matter if you get placed in Gryffindor or not. Either way you will never be a failure and I know that I haven't told you much while growing up, and I apologize for not being able to see the wonderful child that you are. I love you. I love you Neville and you are not some shadow left by my son, you father, but you are that of your own person. And I want you to be happy."
Looking at Frank, no Nevill's white knuckles over Franks wand, Agusta made her choice. "This weekend Neville after settling into your classes lets get you your own wand. One that is… that is worthy of you."
Hugging her Grandson, lady Longbottom nodded to Augusta.
"That goes for you too Harry. It doesn't matter which house you get into as I will be proud of you no matter what, and I know that you parents will be as well. True friends my dears, they don't care about which house you come from and they certainly don't after you graduate. Your true friends, that care about who you are, for you just being true to yourself and them. Just look at Augusta and I, many years have passed but we're still friends."
Embracing their respective grandsons, together the two families made their way through Kings Crossing, Harry and Nevile childishly counting the platforms as they walked.
"Eight... nine… ten!? Wait... ten?" Harry asked himself confused. " Grandma, where's our platform? I don't see it?"
With a wobbly smile, Agatha chuckled, and leaned backwards. Before the young boy's eyes Agatha had vanished right into the third pillar between the ninth and tenth platform. Staring in awe, Neville and Harry ran up to the pillar that swallowed Harry's grandma.
"Come along now, the platform is this way." A hand stuck out mimicking the movement of the mouth before sinking right back into the pillar. Returning to their respective carts, the boys nervously looked at the pillar and each other.
"If you would like boys, if you're nervous running in makes for a lovely start."
Returning her hand through the barrier Agatha looks around at the nostalgic station.
"Dad, come on it's this way! Faster faster!"
"Agatha my dear there's no need to rush, the train isn't going anywhere."
"But dad." Agatha whined. "The train does go somewhere, it goes to Hogwart and I don't want to miss it!"
" You know what I meant by that my little adventurer. However we are two hours early."
"I know I know, but this is Hogwarts Dad! Hogwarts! The best magical school in all of Britain! The one where the four founders were guided by Merlin himself!"
Chuckling Agatha's father messes with her hair. His eyes going warm. "Your mother would be so proud of you right now, just as she always is."
Giggling Agatha hugs her father. "I know, and dad I also know that when I'm at Hogwarts that mom is going to be watching the both of us. So dad don't you ever forget that, ok."
"Ok." He said tightening his grip before letting Agatha go. "I'm going to miss you so much my little firecracker."
"Don't worry dad I'm going to make sure that I send you a message every day, so that it would be just like you are with me at Hogwarts."
" And if you can't?"
" Then I'll make it happen, one way or another!"
"Agatha come on let's go!"
" I'm coming, I'm coming Dora. honestly I would think that as a black that you would have some more patients."
Snorting, "I would but when it comes to you, there's no point in executing them."
"Hardy, Har, har Dora. Anyways." Agatha turned back to her parents, hugging them. "See you during Yule break, dad! Stay safe and I love you!"
Returning Agatha's hug, her father sent her off into the train. "Stay safe and we love you too Agatha! Oh, and stay out of trouble will you!"
"Only if the fates allow it!"
Hello, the name's Agatha. What's your name?
"Ah, so the rumors are true."
"Rumors?"
"Yes the rumors that the young heiress of the Bulstrode, being so uncultured and barbaric."
"Ah, yes. I am an Uncultured and barbaric witch. However for someone who is not. I am quite surprised by those dimwitted words that spewed through that mouth. My, what in Merlin's name are they teach the young witches of my generation.
Ah, wait I know. You must be related to a Crabe or Goyal. Am I right?"
"Come on mom, dad!" James yelled in excitement, pulling an excited Sirius alongside him. It was their first year.
Agatha laughed. The way that James was pulling them forward was so like how she had done as a child herself. So bright and happy without a single care in the world other than school itself. Just as a child should need to.
It burned. How many years has it been since she last been here? When she had no worries when going to the ever so familiar train. Opening her eyes, Agatha blinks in surprise. Her lashes were wet, tears threatening to spill out. Fluttering her eyes Agatha carefully tires to blink away the tears before whipping them away..
Kings Crossing, Hogwarts. Just the thought of them brought a bitter taste in her mouth. This station used to hold so many tainted wonderful memories. How bittersweet. Now it was time for Harry to go to Hogwarts and Agatha wasn't happy. It was a place where Agatha knew she could be potentially leading her grandson to be slaughtered. The place where she had lost her son, daughter-in-law and many of her old school mates.
In all honesty, Agatha could have just home schooled Harry, but as much as she would have preferred to, or at the very least send Harry to a different magic school. Agatha knew of the importance of Harry attending Hogwarts.
However more than that, she knew that if she had gone through with homeschooling Harry it would have been nothing more than her caging her grandson. A gilded cage is something that Dumbledore would and will do, just like how he was changing the British magical community for the worst. Agatha refuses to stoop down to his level and cut down Harry's freedom.
That and that even though it had only been just a month that Agatha had Harry living with her, she could clearly see that Harry has the blood of an adventurer and survivor.
With a tingling sensation to her right Agatha moved to the side just in time to miss the boys from crashing into her. Looking at the boys and then at her best friend, Agatha raised a brow and gestured to the boys.
"I did nothing." Nevile's grandmother denied. " I just merely suggested that running through was an option."
"Indeed it is." Agatha deadpanned. "Well it's great to see that you're excited about school." Guiding the eyes of the boys, Agatha gestured to a bright fiery train. "Welcome boys, to the Hogwarts Express!"
Giggling at the awe filled faces on Harry and Neville, Agatha placed a finger to her lips. "Now boys do you have the bags that we gave you before we came here?"
Nodding at Agatha's words, Agatha's smile stretched even farther. Nodding at her best friend, Agatha then leaned forward and mocked whispered. "With permission from Agatha, I have a big surprise for you boys. However you can only open it once the train leaves the station."
Seeing how the boy's eyes sparkle made Agatha feel a bit better than she had first felt. Waving her wand she places a feather weight charm onto the trunks and helps get them into the train. Giving their fair wells, the two grandmother sent their grandsons onto the Hogwarts Express.
Not long after, the train's engine rang out. Steam pouring out of the shoot filling the sky above with a new cloud. Waving as Harry disappeared into the distance, Agatha dropped her smile once she could no longer see the train.
They were going to be ok. They will be ok. She refused to let her grandchild have to suffer anymore than he had to.
"Shall we."
"Let's"
