It was the morning Yang was supposed to go to Beacon, and Ruby crept down the stairs. She smelled someone on the bottom floor, but didn't recognize the scent. She didn't know what was going on, but she didn't like it. The teenager had been woken up from a small crash downstairs that sounded like glass breaking, so she went to investigate. She clicked her tongue as quietly as she could to still use her echolocation. it didn't reveal much more then she knew before. A broken window and something moving in the kitchen.

The young girl reached to bottom of the stairs and snuck towards the aforementioned room. She reached the end of the hallway before she felt something, behind her. Ruby whipped around and would've come face to face with the most terrifying thing she had ever seen, had she been able to see that is. Anyway, she felt a huge hand clamp over her entire face and another hand reach behind her knees, bringing her to the ground in one fluid motion.

She could feel his forearm stretch across the length of her torso, pinning her to the floor. She tried pry his arm off, but he was too strong. His grip held her to the floor with ease. The strength behind the grip was unbelievable, blocking the flow of air and her only means of raising an alarm.

"I bet you're wondering how I got behind you without you noticing." The voice was definitely male, and judging by how deep it was, he was a huge man. "Well i'm not going to tell you. Don't want you saying anything to that wretched uncle of yours. I'm not after you like the last one was though. I'm here for another target, and the string of murders was only a distraction." Ruby thrashed around even harder, trying to make any sound that would wake everyone else.

"It's no use. No one near me can make a sound if I don't want them to." He screamed out of nowhere and the pressure on her face was instantly released. She threw the arm as far away as she could and crawled out of the way of whatever was happening. Kenshin stood behind Ruby's attacker, sword drawn and eyes glowing gold. He brought the blade up and through the man's body, cutting him in half, from pelvis to head.

He sheathed the Sakabato and went over to Ruby. He grabbed her shoulders and she tried to get away from him until she smelled his robes.

"What happened?" she asked him.

"The murderer attacked you after he broke in. It seems he was going after people with powerful or useful semblances, like yours. Don't worry though, I took care of him, that I did."

"You shouldn't say things you aren't true." A shadow rose up from the floor and took the form a man. "That did hurt, I'll give you that, but it wasn't enough to bring me down. It never is, is it?"

"Sadly, no," he responded.

"Kenshin!" A female voice came from the top of the stairs and the huge man looked up to see who it came from.

"Summer, be careful." The man bulldozed up the stairs at the crippled woman, only for her to vanish in a whirl of rose petals. She appeared next to Kenshin and Ruby, gasping in agony. Kenshin stood as the man came barreling down the stairs again, this time with his eyes glowing bright blue. He raised his arm and brought it down on Kenshin's head, bringing him to his knees. To his surprise, there was a silver aura surrounding the smaller man.

Summer's eyes slightly glowed as she kept the shield powered. Kenshin threw off the arm and slammed the man in the side of the head with the pommel of his katana, knocking him to the ground.

"What is your name? Tell me who I'm about to kill." Kenshin held his sword to the man's throat.

"My name, is Albastru Trandifir, and you can't kill one of us. You know that." He flew from the floor and nailed Kenshin in the chest, knocking the air out of him and sending him flying. He hit the wall hard enough to send cracks through the boards, and fell to the ground. Summer concentrated harder and strengthened the shield around him. Kenshin stood and bolted across the room. He ran the other man through and pulled it out in the direction of his side, nearly cutting him in half.

Something smashed upstairs and they saw Tai at the top of the staircase. He rushed down and entered the fray. Using his fists, he was able to keep pace with the larger man, but only barely. The battle went for only a minute longer when Kenshin looked at Summer, and nodded. She closed her eyes and focused on the one thing she wanted to do more then anything else in that instant. Protect her family.

Her eyes opened and a scorching silver light was released, engulfing the surrounding area and driving the monster away. Summer was on her hands and knees when it faded, with Ruby trying to help her up. Kenshin and Tai came over and knelt in front of them.

"Are you alright?" Tai asked them. Ruby nodded in response.

"I'm fine, Love. It's just been a while since I've had to do that. I'm not used to it anymore, that's all." She smiled at him, and believed she was telling the truth.

"In any case, he won't be coming back anytime soon," Kenshin stated.

"What's going on down there?" Yang was standing on top of the stairs, looking like she had just woken up.

"You missed all the fun, that you did. A man broke in. The same man commiting the murders in Vale. Now that I have his blood on my weapon, I can track him down, with a little bit of help. I must go to Mistral and find Yahiko. He'll be able to help me find this man. Tai, if you go to this address," he handed him a piece of paper, "you'll find someone who can help keep things under control here."
