After a while Adrien was awakened by a sudden movement. Marinette was still asleep, but her face was troubled again, and she was beginning to thrash around.

Adrien tried to sooth her back to sleep again, but this time it didn't work and she woke up gasping for breath.

Marinette's blue eyes darted around before landing on Adrien's green ones. The moment she registered that he was there she threw her arms around his neck and started sobbing.

Adrien put his arms around her and held her as she cried. "Shhhhh. Shhhhh. It's ok. Whatever it is, it's ok now."

Between her sobs, she eventually got all of it out. "Oh Chat! I just had the worst dream! …I was Multimouse... and we were fighting Hawkmoth, and Myura… and Myura shot you, and I couldn't do anything! …I couldn't save you…"

Adrien continued rubbing her back, "Shhhhh, it's ok. That's not what happened. I'm ok, see? We won. I never could have done it without you. Do you remember what really happened?"

Marinette had calmed down a little, and pulled back to search his face. Adrien watched as she put the pieces together in her head. "I think so…" her voice broke again. "I broke your trust, and then you were gone." She hugged him and started sobbing again, "I'm so sorry, Chat!"

He held her as she cried out all of her sorrow and the stress of everything they had been through. "It's ok Mari. I forgive you. I'm sorry too. I was harsh when I left. I was angry. I forgot everything you'd done for me, and I was willing to throw everything between us away at the drop of a hat."

Marinette pulled back, shaking her head. "You had every right to be angry! You trusted me, and I betrayed that trust. I knew better! But I still allowed myself to get caught up in my head, and do something I never should have done."

Adrien looked into her eyes and saw the truth there. "I… already forgave you… but… can I ask… I need to know … why? Why did you look?"

Marinette gazed back. "I guess… in that moment… I just really wanted to understand your pain."

Adrien smiled slightly and shook his head. "Oh Mari… that's… that's so like you! It's just who you are. It's one of the things I love about you. I'm sorry I ever doubted you. Can you forgive me too?"

Marinette's eyes widened and her face turned pink as he spoke. "Of course I do."

"This is all very sweet and all, but some of us are still trying to sleep." Plagg had floated over at some point, and was watching them through narrowed eyes.

Marinette sat straight up, and felt her ears before beginning to look around. "That's right! Where's Tikki?"

Plagg's ears folded back as he responded with a slight edge to his voice. "She's sleeping over there. And you two had better keep it down before you wake her." And with that, he flew back to Tikki.

Marinette noticed that the light reflected off Plagg's eyes as he continued to glare from his perch by Tikki. "What was that about?"

Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. "Plagg is… maybe feeling a tad overprotective right now? He's very close to Tikki, and she's still recovering from when my father had her…"

Marinette's eyes widened. "I knew she seemed tired, but I didn't realize it was that bad…"

"Well… that fight took a lot out of her. Master Fu said it might be a little while before she is back to normal. Speaking of which… while you were passed out, he told me that he'd found a way to wake my mother. When Tikki is better, he'd like your help to wake her."

Marinette's eyes widened, and she hugged him again. "Adrien, that's wonderful! Of course I'll help him wake her up!"

Adrien smiled softly as he hugged her back. "I knew you would." He was interrupted by a small yawn from Marinette. "But for now, I think we should all get some more sleep. Today feels like it's been a lifetime, and there's no point in revisiting it again tonight."

Marinette yawned again while nodding in agreement.

Adrien sat on one end of the couch and pulled Marinette to him, and after a minute of shifting around to get comfortable they both fell asleep. This time their sleep was free of nightmares.
