Heyllo! Alright, before you come and scold me, hear me out. I know I've been inactive and stuff... It's just that I've been doing christmas things for my family. Plus school stuff. Lame. Anyway, hope you like this one!
Cera awakened with a jolt. Everything was dark and silent in the cave. The gang was asleep, apart from her of course. A dark looming figure lumbered silently over the sleeping bodies; careful not to wake them.
The threehorn shivered with fright, only to settle back down again when her eyes adjusted to see that it was Ali. Where was she going? Cera slowly picked herself up and steadily walked out into the cold winter night to see the longneck sitting alone next to a small lake.
Cera sighed, as she didn't want to get up right now and wanted to sleep some more.
She silently walked over to her. Ali looked down at the water, staring at her reflection. Cera just sat down beside her, unsure of what to do since she wasn't used to starting a conversation in these situations.
She cleared her throat. "So, whatch'a doing up so late?" Her voice was informal.
Ali pushed out a heavy sigh. "It's just...well..." She didn't move away from her reflection.
The threehorn snorted in disbelief. "Ok, it's no big deal. Ruby just happened to have the same interests as you. You don't have to get mad at her for it."
The longneck shook her head. "No...It's not just that. If Littlefoot is really dead...I..." Her sentence ended with a cold sob.
"Alright, just tell me already! I wanna sleep." The threehorn's words were stern but her voice was sympathetic.
"If something really happened, I wouldn't have gotten the chance to tell him how I really felt...It's over."
Cera's face twisted in thought. "But... That wasn't Littlefoot, that was someone else. He's probably somewhere out there..."
"But what if we never find him? He could be in big trouble." It was then that Ali had taken a glance at Cera. The longneck had tears in her eyes, and her face hung with sadness.
The threehorn turned away. "Well... I guess we've only got a chance of trying."
Ali sniffed. She was a little surprised at how Cera was taking this. Normally she would just hide her thoughts and decide to push everyone on with anger. It must be because they have all gotten a bit older. It was the time of great growing after all. They have all become young adults. (Or a teenager in our world. I don't want you guys to think that they are already adults during this short time.)
Ali gave a weak smile. "Thanks."
Cera blushed with embarrassment. "Yeah...It's whatever..." She shrugged.
Ali stood up and stared at the sky for a bit. "We'll figure something out...tomorrow."
As they both made their way towards the cave, they froze in motion as a rustle in the bushes caught their attention. Cera spiked up in fear but slowly turned around to face whatever danger crept under those ferns. Ali tensed up in fright. a cold chill zapped through her spine.
The rustling became louder and more violent. That's when Cera clicked. If there was a time where a sharptooth attacked, her first, if possible decision, would be to fight back. So the threehorn lunged into the bushes, her head lowered, ready to strike a hit.
Suspected, her head rammed into a body of soft flesh. The sudden force knocked them down, releasing all the air inside of them.
A little dizzy herself, Cera stood back and gained her balance again. During that time, she could actually see what was intruding on them.
The body of a light-green rainbow face sat up and rubbed his head in alarm. When his mind fazed back into reality, he got back on his feet.
His large body cast a shadow over them, they both shivered in worry and disbelief. Their jaws gapped as they looked upon his appearance. His body was lithe and slim, like any other rainbow face. He bore a grass-like green color to his skin, with strips of blue stripes along his back. But what was most concerning was the lace that rapped along his neck. It held a treestar with a bit of some rock in the middle of it... like it was the stone of cold fire itself. (it's a necklace. So I'm gonna call it that, even though the dinos don't know what it is. )
He stared quizzically at them with deep, brown eyes.
Ali slowly backed away and stepped closer to Cera. "C'mon, let's just go."
Cera shook her head and stomped forward in front of the intruder. "Look, in case you didn't know, it's kinda rude to stalk people." She said sarcastically while moving closer to him to gain dominance.
The rainbow face stood there, unconcerned and unmoved by the threehorn's aggressive approach. He tilted his head a little. "Greetings, the name's Light." He said charmingly.
The threehorn held her glare.
"Oh, nice to meet you."
"Now goodbye."
He laughed.
"Now, don't bother with the rude commentary, I've got something that'll interest you." Light smiled down at her warmly.
"And what may that be?" She was clearly on edge.
He crossed his arms formally, indicating that he wanted to talk about something more serious. "I've been watching all of you-"
"I see that."
"Enough." Light held out a hand for silence. "I see that you and your friends are struggling with something you can't handle. It troubles you and you know there's not much you can do. If you'd like, I could assist with-"
The threehorn stomped in anger. "No way, uh-uh. We're not doin' that! You expect us to just let you tag along to our happy little adventure, right? That's what Littlefoot would've done, well Littlefoot's not here!" In that last sentence, Cera stopped for a bit, trying her best not to show her face. Small streams of tears flowed down her cheeks. She was crying.
Ali held a sympathetic look. "Cera..."
All this time, she kept her feelings private. She managed to hold it to the point where it was unhealthy. It was her way of moving forward.
She tensed up when she felt a hand rest on her shoulder.
Light had kneeled down to her level and looked into her. "I understand."
The threehorn slightly nodded.
He continued. "I offer you my help, but it's your choice whether you accept it or cast it aside."
The purple longneck nodded in agreement and then gazed upon her friend with hopefulness and confidence. "It's for the better."
With some hesitation, Cera gave in with a sigh, followed by a nod.
Light got up and smiled, and on the way, helped Cera get back on her feet as well.
"I guess we gotta work with what we have." The threehorn sighed and wiped what little tears she had left. She didn't want to enter the cave with a face that held such melancholy. It was uncharacteristic for her, and she didn't want to have to answer questions about what had happened.
They lead him inside, to which they awaited the next day to come, wondering exactly what Light had in mind.
...
...
The gang spent the whole morning introducing themselves to Light, and he shared the ideas he had. They all came to a decision for what they wanted to do next. Before they went off, they stopped at a nearby lake to have a quick meal. Spike eagerly chomped through ferns and large grass patches. Cera, Shorty, and Ruby settled on a small bush not too far from where Petrie was perched on a tree branch. Mutt and Nod stood to the water's edge, lapping at it with greed. Ali laid down to eat the green food growing along the lake while Ducky swam underwater to collect water greens.
Hyp and Chomper were currently in a conversation with their new acquaintance, Light.
Hyp leaned casually against a tree while he held a finger to his chin. "So, what's that thing ya got there?" He gestured to Light's necklace.
The rainbow face seemed uninterested. "Oh, it's just my source of power that I use every once in a while, but only for appropriate reasons."
Chomper uncrossed his arms. "Wait, power? What for? Where'd you get it from?"
Light held out his hands dramatically. "Whoa, slow down there, no need to rush!"
The young sharptooth mumbled for a bit, talking to himself almost. "Whatever power you have, we could use it somehow to find Littlefoot and maybe teach those guys a lesson... This could be great! Light, show me what you've got." Chomper demanded.
Hyp stared confusingly at Chomper. "Wait, hold up there, what if he doesn't have powers? He's probably just lying." He glared back at Light, who raised a brow.
"And what such a reason do you think I would lie, hm? Your friend here is right, take my assistance as an advantage. I could lead you to success...if you'd let me of course."
"Well come on pal, think realistically. Things like that don't exist. If you think you can just imagine things, they'll come true. Things like that just don't happen. So stop being fake, and look to the present buddy, 'cuz that just 'ain't real-"
Light cut him off, he placed his right hand over the treeshar shaped necklace while whispering something under his breath. It sounded unsettling, and not just no ordinary sentence either.
At this moment, Chomper and Hyp looked at him intently, concerned about what was going on.
Not a moment passed, both Hyp and Chomper felt a swift gust of wind swoosh passed them. During that moment, Hyp's legs suddenly gave in and he fell on his stomach, a surprised gasp came out of him.
On the other hand, not a second passed and Chomper's hands held a nice, plump fish. He gazed at in astonishment.
Light had vanished for nearly two seconds and came back to his place, giving them a smirk. He crossed his arms in triumph.
Hyp sat up, rubbing his head in confusion. "Wait...Wait...What?" He couldn't believe what just happened or even consider what had happened.
Chomper smirked back, as he held the fish to his face. "Super speed, huh?"
The rainbow face nodded. "You got it. I don't wish to put all this on your shoulder but I also have extreme strength; maybe too extreme to comprehend. I have a few other abilities, but that's not to tell for now."
The sharptooth squinted to examine the small rock in the center of the treestar. "You have a piece of the stone of cold fire...that's how you activated your speed."
"Now you're getting it. I simply make the wish and bam, speed."
"Pssh, big deal, you can run fast, anyone could do that. Hey Ruby!" Hyp stood up and called over to the fastrunner, who was talking to Ali. (And during that conversation, Ali was trying her best to ignore her.)
Chomper face-palmed. "Oh no..."
Ruby walked over to the group with a defeated look, but hid that expression as she came near to them. She held her arm nervously as she shot a glance at Light, then at Hyp.
"I want you to race this guy." He said bluntly.
"Huh?" Ruby's face twisted with confusion. She was lost at the moment.
Chomper held a hand to his face. "Seriously? It's no big deal, just face the fact that Light has quick speed."
"I think I'm up for the challenge. What do ya say, Ruby?" Light stepped forward and held out his hand, gesturing for a handshake.
Ruby was puzzled for a bit but took his hand anyway. No one bothered to tell her what was going on, and why she was about to race with this rainbow face. Though, more importantly, she didn't know he had extreme abilities.
The rest of the gang huddled together as they faced a large stretch of grass. A perfect set up for this occasion. Hyp and Chomper stood on one end of the meadow, not too far from Light and Ruby. A wall of trees separated the racers from the finish line, which meant they had to run through a small forest.
Spike, Ducky, Petrie, Shorty, Mutt, and Nod were seated at the finish line, eager to see how this would lay out. Hyp smirked down at Chomper, he obviously wanted Ruby to win, but also to prove to the young sharptooth that anyone could match Light's strength. Chomper didn't even want anyone to compete. He thought all of this was ridiculous and a waste of time. Without saying a word, they both waited for the racers to prepare themselves.
Light glanced beside him to look upon a nervous Ruby. Her eyes narrowed anxiously. Why did she look so upset? It was almost as if she had eaten a bad water swimmer and now she was sick to her stomach. He knew it wasn't just the race that bothered her, something else...
"You okay?"
She gulped. "Y-yeah." Her face started to sweat.
"It's okay to be nervous. It's all in fun. I'll go easy on you if it'll make you feel better." He gave her a sympathetic glance.
"That's okay. I'll be fine."
He seemed unsure of himself. Now he would feel guilty if she lost. He was obviously not gonna rely on the necklace for this. He didn't want to pressure her by talking to her so he just waited for the signal. At that moment, they could see Petrie fly above and signal them that the race had begun.
In an instant, both Light and Ruby went head to head across the soft terrain. Light wanted to be fair and try his best, as you would with a normal race, so he increased his speed with ease, leaving Ruby a few feet behind him. She soon noticed this and lengthened her stride, his species was known to be the fastest out of all the dinosaurs on earth, so he was bound to be faster by default. Although, Ruby tends to put confidence into giving her strength. She could push herself if she wanted to. She leaped over small rocks and dodged dips and holes in the ground. They were both side by side once again.
Soon, they came to the patch of trees. There wasn't much room for both of them, so one of the two had to be in front of the other. Unfortunately, Ruby had stumbled on a root, it took her a moment to get back up. Light took this opportunity to lead ahead and dashed past the last few trees.
The world was a blur as he made his way to the finish line. He managed to take a quick glance behind his shoulder. Ruby was far behind, her face hung with exhaustion. The rainbow face stopped for a bit so she could catch up.
Cera had noticed this and called out to him. "Come on, you're like, five feet away from winning!"
"Yeah! Hurry up, Light!" Ducky cupped her hands over her mouth. Under her, Spike groaned in agreement.
Light had waited for Ruby to pass him and followed behind her. She sat down to catch her breath while the rainbow face walked up to her. "Hey, nice job! Congrats, you're pretty quick!" He held out his hand for a high-five, but she was too exhausted to understand anything being said to her.
Chomper joined him. "Yeah, great job, Ruby." He laid down next to her and gave the fastrunner a hug.
"Ha! I told you! Anyone could do that! But did you listen? Of course not!" Hyp danced in triumph, and hugged Ruby as well, but more affectionately of course.
"No. She didn't win."
Everyone looked back to see Ali with a stern look on her face.
"How come?" Shorty asked.
"Because Light helped her, he would've won if she wasn't so slow." The longneck gave Light an acquiesced glare.
"Well, I just can't let a girl lose I guess." Light shrugged. "Besides, I think she's sick or something. Hang on..." He kneeled down and touched Ruby's forehead. A normal temperature.
"She's fine." He stated.
"Aw, she's sick?" Hyp said with a 'baby' voice.
"I just said she's fine."
"Man, she might have a fever or somethin'." He picked Ruby up and held her while giving Light a smug face.
"Are you not listening to me?"
"Might have to get a professional for this..."
"I..." Light clenched his fists, clearly in frustration.
Chomper put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Let 'em go. Just let him do what he wants. It's better that way."
"You heard the man, now let's move out." He said dramatically, still holding Ruby who just gave up at this point.
They all knew that they had things to be done. They headed a certain direction together.
With Light's help, they would have a better chance of finding Littlefoot. They were going back to the great valley.
Yo! thatnks to the reviews, I do put some of your suggestions in here. And if you hadn't noticed, an oc has entered the story! Light belongs to the writer RedMageKnight. Got look at their stories 'cus it's really good and stuff. Also sorry for the missplling. I was tired and it was rushed. Anyway, hope you liked it!
