Chapter Ten: Sizing Up Omi

Flying above mountains on their way to the next shen-gong- wu. "Can't you go any faster?" Raimundo asked Dojo impatiently. "Maybe you'd like to take over while I sit on your back?" Dojo shot back. "We just don't wanna miss finding this new shen-gong-wu the wings of Tinabi," Kimiko told him as the scroll she was holding showed the Wings of Tinabi as Raimundo looked back at her.

"It lets you fly like an eagle leaving a cool rainbow vapor trail." Dojo explained the wu while he looked back at them. "Oooh, I must possess the Wings of Tinabi." Omi began with a grin before standing up on one leg. "I want to fly like an eagle!" He continued, rapidly flapping his arms before falling off of Dojo, screaming.

Dojo quickly flew down to catch him. "Woah, easy, their partner, or you'll go down like a rack of ribs." Clay swung his lasso and caught Omi. As he was doing this, Raimundo and Kimiko held onto Dojo while Kagome was hanging onto Clay as she watched him effortlessly wrap the rope around Omi's waist before he pulled him back before Dojo began to fly towards the wu. Looking down, Kagome noticed that they were passing over a moose that was drinking water from a river.

"You alright back there?" Clay asked her. "Yeah, sorry about that," Kagome told him sheepishly before letting go of him, realizing she was still holding onto his waist.

~ With Jack and Wuya ~

Jack floated next to Wuya as they watched the cyclops search for the shen-gong-wu. "Ah, good cyclops, we almost have the shen-gong-wu." Wuya praised while the Cyclops examined and sniffed a huge piece of rock. "Look at him, no depth perception." Jack pointed out to Wuya.

"Why waste your time on these lame old school monsters?" He asked. " I happen to prefer the old ways." Wuya began as Cyclops went back to searing for the shen-gong-wu. "There is much to be said for tradition." She continued before her and Jack, who ket out a slight girlish scream, moved before they were crushed by the boulder that Cyclops carelessly tossed towards them. "Yeah, like it's totally obsolete." Jack insulted as they watched Cyclops dig into the hole as Dojo made his way towards them.

~ With Dojo and The Monks ~

"Here we are, but it looks like we've got company." Dojo informed everyone when he spotted Jack and Wuya. Unfortunately for them, right at that moment, Cyclops had found the Wings of Tinabi.

Cyclops showed both Wuya and Jack, who high fived when it was found the wu before holding it close to himself proudly. "Give it here before you get anymore slobber on it," Jack demanded after flying to Cyclops to take the wu from him when he began to lick it only to be swatted away. Landing in front of the Monks was now off of Dojo.

"Cyclops, rid us of those pests!" Wuya commanded Cyclops, flying around his head as they both glared down at the Monks. "If you accept defeat now, you will save yourself further embarrassment!" Omi yelled while pointing up at them.

~ Later ~

"We will have to stand together to defeat the evil one-eyed one," Omi told the others. 'I'm pretty sure it was us who was embarrassed.' Kagome thought to herself as she slowly slid off Dojo as she thought about how easily Cyclops beat them. However, she was the only one to harm him by making a shield with spikes to prevent him from stepping on her before using his depth perception against him.

"You're a tough little guy, Omi, but face it, the cyclops isn't exactly in your weight class," Kimiko told him as they all got off of Dojo, who shrunk to his other size. "Hell, he isn't in any of our weight class." Kagome pointed out as she walked past them. "That's right. If he was much bigger, he'd be his own country." Clay exclaimed.

"We may never win another showdown. That dude is unstoppable." Raimundo said. "If only I was big, I, too, would be unstoppable!" Omi claimed while kicking his leg high into the air. "Ah, but strength is not determined by one's size." Master Fung told him as he made his way to Omi.

"Rather, by the size of one's strength." He finished, placing a finger onto Omi's forehead before flicking him far. 'Why do I get the feeling that that was a lesson that just flew over his head?' Kagome thought as she stood over Omi with Kimiko, Clay, and Raimundo before helping him up.

"Man, do I need a good soak." She grumbled to herself as she made her way to the showers. "Mind if I join you? I smell about as bad as a room full of chitlins." Clay told her, pinching his nose. Too tired to argue and the fact that he does stink, Kagome shrugged. "Be my guest." She told him as she began walking to the showers with him following her, neither noticing the pairs of eyes watching them.

~ The Next Day ~

"You, uh, really think you're gonna stretch your way to being bigger?" Clay asked Omi, who was hanging off of the training equipment. "As the grass grows towards the sun," Omi stated before flipping off of the bar than walking to where he placed the scale. 'What does that have to do with growing taller?' Kagome wondered as she walked towards them.

"Ohh! I weigh one pound less!" Omi groaned after reading that he now weighs twenty pounds. "Here, try a protein shake. Maybe it'll help." Clay told him while giving Omi the jug he was holding.

"That's a protein shake?" Kagome asked Clay as she watched Omi chug the whole thing. "Thank you, Clay. I have already gained three pounds!" Omi exclaimed excitedly after reading his new weight. "Uh, maybe I should hold the jug?" Clay suggested before taking it from Omi.

"Oh, no! So fast! It is one step forward and two steps back." Omi said sadly, seeing as he now weighed nineteen pounds while walking with Clay and Kagome to eat. "Perhaps the secret lies within the food. I shall eat until I am big!" He yelled before stuffing his mouth with food, not caring or noticing that food was flying everywhere and hitting Kimiko before Kagome placed a barrier around her.

"Thank you," Kimiko told Kagome sincerely with an honest smile. "You're welcome." Kagome smiled back. "You know, we got a sayin' down in Texas: you can't put a twenty-gallon head in a ten-gallon hat," Clay told Raimundo, who was watching Omi eat while eating a slice of pizza.

"Yeah. You just made that up." Raimundo responded before his face lit up. "Hey, here's an idea! Watch this!" He exclaimed before using the changing chopsticks to shrink the food.

"Raimundo, that is the answer." Omi smiled as he held a now miniature burger between his fingertips. I will grow bigger backwards!" He continued. "You got me on that one," Kimiko told him after Kagome dropped her barrier, which was covered in food.

"Clay, may I please borrow the reversing mirror?" Omi asked Clay who gave it to him. "Raimundo, may I please borrow the changing chopsticks?" He asked Raimundo, who gave it to him.

"Where are you goin' with this, Omi?" Clay asked Omi. Omi ignored him to use them both to make himself grow large only problem is he grew too large. Large enough to break a hole into the ceiling of the temple. "Now, there is nothing I cannot accomplish!" Omi yelled happily.

"Except perhaps explaining to Master Fung about the temple ceiling." He continued sheepishly.

~ Later ~

Clay calmly walked towards where Raimundo and Kimiko were sparing while Kagome was waiting for him. Despite the big stomps Omi made that had his body leave the ground each time. "Everybody, hot off the wire! A new shen gong wu has revealed itself." Dojo told everyone before opening the scroll to show it to everyone.

"The glove of Jisaku. Whoever holds it attracts other objects, sort of like a mystical, magnetic, uh, uh, uh, whatever." He finished not being able to think of the word.

"Ooh, I have been awaiting this moment since I was soo big." Omi exaggerated as he hovered his hand above the ground to where his previous height was. "Yeah, like two minutes ago." Raimundo pointed out before Dojo grew to his larger size. 'How is he going to get there?' Kagome wondered, she thought, raising an eyebrow when she looked up at him.

"NO! DON'T DO IT!" Everyone yelled, running away from Dojo when Omi moved to sit on him. "Too big! Too big! Can't fly ... or breathe!" Dojo cried, struggling to get from underneath Omi.

"Guess you'll have to huff it. Just be careful not to step on anybody." Clay told Omi. "Here, take my GPS. It's programmed to track Dojo. That's why we had the chip installed." Kimiko told Omi, giving him her GPS.

Dojo looked at Kagome silently, asking her if she knew anything about the chip, only for her to shake her head no before he flew off towards the shen gong wu with Raimundo, Clay, and Kimiko flying on him. Kagome was on Omi's shoulder, holding the GPS for him.

"Thank you for your assistance Kagome," Omi told her as he followed her directions towards where Dojo and the others were. "Happy to help," Kagome told him with a soft smile.

~ Later ~

"CLAY!" Omi yelled as they both watched him fall. "What has happened?" Omi asked as they finally made their way to them. "I got my hat handed to me, that's what," Clay told him, taking his hat off before putting it back on. "The Cyclops is still unstoppable, and now because of me, we have lost two shen gong wu," Omi said sadly to they watched Cyclops fly off on the Wings of Tinabi.

Omi looked down at them sadly after he helped Kagome off of his shoulder. "Don't be so down on yourself, Omi. I'm the one who blew the showdown." Clay told him, trying to cheer him up. "Yes, but only because I was not there to fight your battle. It is I to blame for your most humiliating defeat." Omi explained to him.

"Uh-huh. Excuse me while I crawl under a rock." Clay said before walking to stand next to Kagome, who comfortingly patted his back while he lazily wrapped his arms around her and leaned against her.

"Since you clearly cannot get along without me, I will return to regular size," Omi said before using the changing chopsticks to shrink. "Huh. I do not remember my fellow warriors being quite so big." He said after comparing his new height to everyone else's.

"Yeah. Maybe you ought to give that bronco another ride." Clay told him with a smile. "Maybe he shouldn't?" Kagome suggested while looking t Clay worriedly. "It'll be fine." He said to her reassuringly before leaning in and whispering in her ear. "If it does turn out bad, I'll give you a massage every day for a week and do that thing I did in the showers too, deal?" He whispered, pulling away when he saw Kagome nod.

They watched as Omi used them again and again and again, stopping when he was the size of an ant. "Maybe you should stop while there's something left," Kimiko said, kneeling in front of him. "You know, you used the reversing mirror and the changing chopsticks to get into this. I'll bet you need 'em both to get out." Raimundo spoke while Omi climbed onto Kagome's hand, who held him up to everyone's eye height.

Clay sighed. "I'm afraid 'cause of me, we're shy one reversing mirror." He told him guiltily. "I have much thinking to do. Can you carry me to the temple?" Omi asked Kagome. "If I walk, I fear it will take many months." He continued as everyone began to walk. "No problem, after all, you carried me here," Kagome said.

~ Later At The Temple, With Omi ~

"Most certainly, a walk in the fresh night air will empty my head of thoughts," Omi said to himself as he walked. "I have traveled this path before, but none of it looks familiar." He continued before he began to look around as the ground shook. "AAAAAH!" He screamed as he ran away from a caterpillar.

"Perhaps my head is emptied enough." He exclaimed, terrified, before running towards the temple only to trip and fall. Luckily he was able to grab what appeared to be a stip of grass before he hit the ground. "YAAH!" He screamed when the strip pulled him towards it; it turns out it was not grass but a praying mantis. Letting go, he let himself fall to the ground.

"I warn you, large mantis, you will be shown no mercy." He exclaimed as he got into a fighting stance before doing fighting the mantis, only to be smacked by it onto a moth. The moth flew with him on its back, not paying attention to Omi, who jumped off it and landed on a spider's web.

"This does not appear to be my day." He said as he struggled to get free. "Unh! I ... AM ... GLUED!" He said sadly before noticing a spider watching him. He screamed and closed his eyes as he accepted his fate before he was plucked by a hand.

"Omi, what you doin'; out here all alone?" Clay asked as he placed Omi onto his hand. "Taking a most restful walk in the garden?" Omi breathed heavily as he tried to catch his breath.

~ Inside The Temple ~

"We thought maybe this would make you feel safe until you're back to normal," Kimiko told him, smiling as they watched Omi, who walked towards the birdhouse angrily. "Safe! Just because I am small does not mean I am no longer brave." Omi told her before stepping inside. Not a second lay, he screamed before falling out.

"AAH! Lookout! It's an enormous beast!" He yelled at the worm. "Oh, that's just a worm. I meant to clean the birdhouse out first." Raimundo said guiltily. "This is what Kimiko was talking out, Omi," Kagome told him as she lowered her head closer to his height.

"We just don't want you to get eaten up by a stray cat or something. It's only temporary." Clay said, doing the same. "Perhaps not. Master Fung said, if I am not return to normal within a day, I will forever remain small." Omi told him sadly.

~ The Next Day ~

"Sorry about the ants."

Clay apologized as he wiped away the ants Omi had just defeated. They had just returned from trying to retrieve the reversing mirror from Jack Spicer. "I knew I left my chocolate bar somewhere." He said, picking it up.

"No, I must thank you. Battling ferocious ants is most valuable preparation for return to normal fighting size." Omi told him happily. "That's one way to look at it," Kagome said, smiling softly at how positive he was being before frowning.

"Oh.. yeah. About that?" Clay began, blushing. "We weren't able to get the reversing mirror from Jack." Raimundo finished. "He wants to trade it for all of our shen gong wu," Kimiko added.

"No! I will not allow it! No matter what you say, you cannot trade the shen gong wu for my mistake!" Omi yelled. "Well, that kind of what we did say," Kagome told Omi. "You did?" Omi asked, immediately looking sad about their answer.

"Uh, yes. I would've done exactly the same. I just did not think you would." He said sadly. "Sorry." Clay apologized as Dojo appeared. "Hey everybody, according to these oddly shaped welts on my tail, we've got shen gong wu just ripe for the picking." Dojo told them as he showed everyone his tail.

"We will leave at once! The cyclops will be there, and so will be the reversing mirror!" Omi yelled; he was ready and determined to get the reversing mirror back to return to his normal size. "It's too dangerous, Omi," Raimundo told him.

"I live for danger! I have tiger instincts! I am still a fierce warrior! YAAH!" Omi tried to prove, kicking away an ant. "Ha ha ha! It's adorable how someone so small can still think they're fierce." Kimiko giggled. Omi glared at her while Kagome suppressed a giggle of her own. "Maybe 'adorable' is the wrong word." She said sheepishly, realizing her mistake.

~ The Showdown ~

"Maybe we should change the name of this showdown to Xiaolin annihilation," Raimundo suggested before winching when Kagome slapped his shoulder angrily. "Yeah. It's like a ting little termite going up against a grizzly bear." Clay said before winching too when Kagome punched his shoulder.

"We should be supporting Omi." Kagome huffed. "Ahem, you know I am standing right here," Omi spoke, making everyone look down at him before running after Cyclops began the showdown. "Come on, Omi. I know you can do it." Clay cheered as everyone watched.

"Ha! The big oaf can't see a thing!" Kimiko yelled tauntingly after Cyclops ran into the mountain Omi flew into. "Did he really think that was going to work out well?" Kagome asked after Cyclops place one of the

boots onto his toe.

"I can't watch." Raimundo said, covering his eyes after they saw Cyclops smack Omi backward as they were nearing the finish line."Me, either." Kimiko did the same. "Yeah. I'm done, too." Clay pulled his hat over his eyes.

"You got this, Omi!" Kagome cheered, ignoring the looks the other Monks gave her.

~ After The Showdown ~

"It's good to be regular again." Omi sighed happily after using both the changing chopsticks and reversing mirror to return to his normal size. "Yet why do I still feel so small?" He asked, climbing onto Dojo. "Just stay the way you are, Omi. You're perfect." Kimiko told him, smiling.

"I know. I just cannot help myself."
