¨When you invite someone into your home, be sure to invite them into your heart as well¨
They still stood on the balcony together, holding one another in their arms. To Fleurine this wouldn't last long, she shouldn't fall in love. It had never worked for her before and why would it now? But to Edmund this had to last, he had to fall in love. He'd only ever fallen in love twice before. Once he'd fallen for a young boy when he was the same, and the second with promised power surrounded by lies, for him they had to protect each other.
They heard footsteps come up to them, Edmund turned his head and Fleurine separated from Edmund to see who it was.
¨Ed?¨ said Peter as he waited ¨We have to go now¨
Edmund sighed, he kissed Fleurine on the forehead and she held him tightly
¨Goodbye¨ he said
¨Goodbye¨
And they broke apart, he left to Cair Paravel and she went to the home she and her sister lived in. After a few days she joined her newly wed sister at her new home. Even though the home was safe she didn't feel right being there, after about a month she moved back to their old home. She and Edmund had not seen one another since the wedding, there were no visits and no letters. They each thought the other must be busy, in a sense they were, but it was from trying to keep distracted.
Fleurine had become paranoid and fearful, constantly looking back and blocking doors. She did give the police a description of him to help, but she thought it was no use. When Edmund was given the description and the picture drafted from it he and his guards searched Narnia, day in and day out. Ceslitt was never found. Some say he fled to the north, others say he's stayed in Narnia. But that news would not come until later.
Finally, Fleurine had received a letter but to her dismay it wasn´t from Edmund. She opened the letter and read what Lucy wrote to her.
Dear Fleurine,
I hope this letter finds you well, I decided that I should give you some news as to Edmund´s whereabouts. For the past month he has been hunting down Ceslitt, we´ve requested he come home and he has agreed. It will do him well to see you and I imagine the same for you. Please come to Cair Paravel, you can stay as long as you like. He will be back in a week's time.
Your friend, Lucy
She sighed, she longed to see him but going to Cair Paravel was a big deal to her. She was common, no one of any importance. Her heart told her to go and her head said stay, stay so you don't ruin it, stay and be alone. Alone is better than broken. As much as she wanted to listen to her head she didn´t, she couldn't help but destroy herself, she'd been doing it since she was little, why would she stop now?
The next day she left on Fenchurch, she only owned 3 different outfits, and hoped that would be enough to impress. When she arrived it was dark out, she showed the guards her letter and they ushered her in. It was a large and grand castle, more fit to be called a palace. It was quiet, but maybe that was because it was night. She looked at the paintings in the entrance and the shiny floor. Then she heard a pair of light footsteps come down the stairs, she saw Lucy and Susan.
¨Fleurine it´s so nice to see you!¨ Lucy exclaimed
¨Indeed, I wish we spoke more at the wedding¨ Susan said
Fleurine remembered their short conversation about the weather, and felt bad.
¨Oh, yes we should´ve spoke more, I´m sorry¨
¨No it's quite alright¨ Susan replied
¨Would you like to see your room, or do you want a tour, or perhaps some dinner or-¨
¨Lucy please, the poor girl has been through so much, let's let her rest¨
She didn't know what to do, she just stood there for a minute.
¨We´ll show you to your room¨ Susan said.
They led her up the stairs, went left and then through a long hallway. The door they showed her had small flowers carved on it.
¨My room is on the right hallway of the stairs, there is a little ¨L¨ on the knob¨ said Lucy
¨Peter´s room is in on the second door to the right in the loft, and Susan´s is across from him.¨
¨Edmund is the door on your right¨ Susan said, finishing Lucy´s sentence.
¨Thank you both, I think I´ll go to bed. Goodnight¨
They each said goodnight, and Fleurine entered the room. It was bigger than her house, and it was warm and extravagant. The sheets were a fine silk, finer than our world could ever know, and the walls were a color I can only describe as comforting.
She changed into a nightgown and crawled into the lush and soft bed.
