The Panthers begin their State journey this chapter, and I'm pumped to write about it. My high school makes it to state in nearly every sport and even as just a spectator, it's an amazing experience, and it will spark some conflicts.

Julie dreaded going to school the day after her fight with Lois, she wasn't in the mood to deal with her crap. The one thing that motivated her to go to school: her make-up lunch date with Tim.

The day seemed to drag on, and it was finally lunch. Tim and Julie headed to the Alamo freeze and got their lunch through the driveway. They returned back to school and ate their burgers in the school parking lot.

"So, the quarter finals are Friday!" Julie finally interrupted the silence.

"I know, it's crazy. And to think in just a couple weeks I'll play my last high school football game," Tim replied.

"Can't wait to cheer you on," Julie added with a sweet smile. Julie leaned in for a kiss and Tim passionately kissed her back. Their sweet moment was quickly interrupted by a knock on the window of Tim's truck. They broke apart, their faces each bright red with embarrassment. Tim rolled his eyes and laughed when he saw Landry and Tyra outside the window on their way back into the school. He rolled down the drivers-side window

"Oh don't act like ya'll are so innocent!" Tim teased the other two teens.

"Can you believe state is Friday?" Landry asked when Tim got out of the truck, doing their secret handshake.

"Wild right?" Tim asked back.

Friday rolled around pretty quick with everyone's excitement about the state quarterfinals. The boys were suiting up for their game in the guest locker room.

"Hey Cafferty, come tape my ankles!" Tim shouted to the sophomore that was currently doing nothing productive. Luke Cafferty abandoned his conversation with some other sophomores and walked towards Tim. Tim chunked the roll of athletic tape at Luke and sat down outstretching his leg. Luke began the task of taping Tim's ankles to keep them in place during their game.

"So are you gonna propose to Julie?" Luke came right out and asked.

"What?" Tim responded, completely shocked by his question.

"I asked if you were going to propose to Julie," Luke replied back. Tim furrowed his brow, what in the world is this kid thinking? "Like you know since you got her pregnant and all, are you gonna like propose and have a really quick wedding or somethin'?"

"No, are you out of your mind?" Tim asked.

"Well, I just thought that-"

"Just shut up and tape my ankles would ya," Tim interrupted. "And maybe eventually, but not now, not while she's still in school, and I don't want it to be just because I got her pregnant,"

"Riggs getting all sappy," Matt added, having heard the whole conversation from his spot on the bench next to Tim.

"That was Mindy's advice," Tim clarified. They had talked about it just the other day when she was over at their house, Mindy wanted to make sure that Tim didn't push marriage on Julie because of the situation they had gotten themselves into. She informed him that proposals were supposed to be sweet and romantic, and not because you got yourself in a sticky situation.

"Since when do you hang out with Mindy Collette?" Matt asked.

"Since her and my brother started sleeping together," Tim bluntly replied.

The game started off pretty quickly, with both teams scoring an easy touchdown. The second and third quarters were rather slow compared to the first, and by the fourth the Panthers pulled ahead winning 16-13. The team gathered on the field to celebrate their Quarter Final win, and advancement to the Semi Finals. Several fans, girlfriends of players, rally girls, and family members joined in in the celebration. Julie and Tami ventured down onto the field. They found Tim pretty easily, he was on the outskirts of the group talking with Landry and Matt.

"Good job boys!" Tami complimented as she walked past them, Julie hanging back to stay with them.

"Yeah, ya'll played great!" Julie added, hugging Tim. Tim hugged her back and placed a kiss on her head.
