Visiting day was, as expected, busy. Harmony had gotten up first to get a warm shower and wash away the sweat and dirt from her skin before she washed her long dark hair. Once she had dressed in fresh clothes she left the dorm and sat by the chasm, listening to the rushing water.
"You're not gonna jump are you?" A voice asked. Harmony glanced in the direction to see Four standing there. His arms were crossed, face serious.
"No. Just sitting here." Harmony replied. Her hair was still wet from her shower. Most of her hair was coiled in her lap as it dried.
Four didn't respond but she heard his footsteps walk away. Harmony closed her eyes and relaxed.
Naia sat with Mara instead of Harmony Marissa and James. That was unusual so it caught Harmony off guard. When she asked about it she only got a shrug from the former Erudite twins.
"If your families don't come what do you plan to do for the day?" Harmony asked. She watched the twins think for a minute.
"We hadn't really thought about it." James said in between bites of his food.
Silence fills the group. Over with Naia and Mara they were conversing quietly until an hour had passed and visiting day began. The initiates went to the pit to wait for their families.
Harmony could see Naia and Mara go over to a candor couple and strike up conversarion.
"Harmony!" The sound of her name made her look around. What she saw made her eyes widen. In addition to her mother, who looked no less beautiful then the last time she had seen the woman at the choosing ceremony, her two best friends from Amity Thomas, who had transfered to Abnegstion and thus wore the gray clothing of the selfless faction, and Grace, who wore a sunshine yellow blouse and skirt.
Harmony went over and hugged Thomas and Grace who hugged back tightly. They let go and Harmony hugged her mother who hugged back. They hugged for a few moments and conversation started up.
"So how's life been?" Harmony asked.
"Everything's great! I'm an Amity member now." Grace told Harmony.
"I'm a full fledged member of Abnegation as well. I enjoy it there. What about you? You a Dauntless member yet?" Thomas spoke next.
"No, I'm still an initiate. We start the next part of initiation tomorrow." Harmony told them.
Three pairs of eyes widen at that. They didn't realize Dauntless initiation lasted longer then the initiation for Amity or Abnegation.
"You're happy here though right?" Grace asked.
"Of course I am. Was there ever any doubt?" Harmony asked the last question in a smug, cheeky manner.
"Well I would hope so, initiate."
Harmony almost groaned at the familiar voice. Eric stood there, arms crossed, eyes as cold as ever.
"This is Eric. He's one of the leaders here at Dauntless."
Thomas and Grace had wide eyes as they look at Eric. "So young and already a leader." Harmony's mother spoke.
"That's normal here in Dauntless. I assume you are Harmony's mother?" Eric asked. Harmony was surprised at how..civil Eric was being. Usually he was full of backhanded statements.
"I am. My name is Blossom."
Such an amity name but Harmony loved it. She thought it suited her mother.
"It's a pleasure. I'll be on my way. Leader duties." With that Eric walked away.
"He's a leader?" Grace asked staring at Harmony. Harmony nods.
"There are no elderly here in Dauntless. The oldest I've seen so far is Max who looks to be at least forty."
"Have you made new friends?" Thomas asked changing the subject.
"Yeah, wanna meet them?"
At the responding nods she introduces her mother and friends to her new friends in Dauntless. They talk until its time for visiting day to end.
Harmony followed the Dauntless born up to the top of the Hancock Building with Naia James and Marissa. Harmony and James were excited to go zip lining for the first time and hopefully, not for the last time. One after the other Dauntless born and Dauntless members alike went down the zip line in a harness.
"Hey first jumper! Your up!" Uriah called.
Harmony went over and got fastened into the harness. Uriah told her where the break was before sending her down the zip line.
Harmony closed her eyes for a few moments, feeling the wind rush through her long dark locks. She pulled the break when it was time and released herself from the harness. A bright smile was on the former amitys face as she landed on the limbs of her fellow Dauntless and was set on her feet.
"Hey Naia?"
"Yes?"
"Why do you get along so well with Mara?"
Naia wasn't surprised by the question. She knew it would come sooner or later. "She's my cousin. Her parents both died when she was younger so we grew up in the same house."
Harmony was quiet as she got ready for bed processing that until she fell asleep.
