Luna Lovegood
Ron was wandering around Hogwarts, looking for his best mate (or soon-to-be former best mate), Harry Potter. After seeing Harry retrieve the golden egg from the hungarian horntail during the first task of the Triwizard Tournament, Ron realized how wrong he was to assume that Harry wanted more fame and glory (without realizing he was too late). The youngest male Weasley finally spotted Harry sitting on a tree stump by the shore of the Black Lake, and he was accompanied by a girl with curly shoulder-length dirty-blonde hair and pale-silver eyes. She even dressed in black jean trousers, a blue long-sleeve blouse hidden underneath a black coat, black converse sneakers with silver stars monogrammed on them, radishes for earrings, and a necklace made of butterbeer corks. Ron knew the girl was Luna Lovegood (since she and her father lived not terribly far from the Burrow), but how she met Harry was a mystery to him.
"Harry mate, I've been looking for you." said Ron as he approached Harry and Luna (both who turned their attention to the redhead).
"So now you come crawling back to me, when you could've done that before the first task?" asked Harry in a displeased tone of voice.
"Come one, Harry," Ron pleaded. "Let's put this whole mess behind us!"
"You had plenty of time to make it up to me," said Harry irritably. "But you continued to ignore me everytime I tried explaining that I hate my fame as the Boy-Who-Lived. If that dragon killed me, you never would've been able to make amends with me. Real friends don't do that to each other. Ever since you abandoned me, Neville helped me out and now he's my best mate. If he could wholeheartedly believe me, you could've and should've done the same."
"How'd you meet Luna?" asked Ron.
"It started last year before our third year began," Harry began explaining, just as he and Luna began holding hands in Ron's presence. "While I was staying at The Leaky Cauldron. I was working on my History of Magic homework at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parour one day and Luna happened to come across me. We even began spending more time together after we got to know each other better. We even went out into Muggle London to ensure we wouldn't get disturbed by fangirls and fanboys in our world. I knew I wouldn't have to worry about that too much in the muggle world."
"During last school year," Luna began explaining the second half of the story. "Harry and I have been spending most of our spare time together, since he told me that he didn't have permission to visit Hogsmeade. That made it easier to spend time with him. During the summer in which the Quidditch World Cup took place, Harry and I have even been sending each other letters."
"But how did you do that without my knowledge?" asked Ron, flabbergasted.
"Luna didn't want any unnecessary attention," stated Harry. "So I talked to her anytime I was in private."
"Not just that," Luna revealed. "But Harry and I have been trying to find some kind of new, undiscovered creature. We stopped here to take a breather."
"If I remember right," said Harry. "It's something called… a fraggle hamster. It looks like guinea pigs from the muggle world, but they're smaller and generally have purple fur if they're male or pink for female. They also have wings like flying squirrels, but fraggle hamsters are actually capable of flight like bats."
"What do these fraggle hamsters do?" asked Ron.
"They just fly around and look for plants and insects to eat," said Luna. "But they'll attack anyone who makes threats towards those who are innocent. They're also very easily offended, like hippogriffs, if anyone speaks in a boastful manner or in disbelief about the creature."
"That's just a buncha baloney," Ron sneered, clearly in disbelief. "As if anyone will ever…!"
Then Ron stopped talking as he felt some kind of bite on his shoulder, leaving him dumbstruck. He darted his eyes around trying to find the source of the mildly-painful bite-like feeling. Then the same feelings began increasing in frequent intervals, causing Ron to swat his hands around. That increased the pain of the bite-like feelings, so Ron screamed as he tried wiping his hands all over himself to get the invisible creatures to go away.
"We told ya so, Ron!" Harry and Luna chorused simultaneously, with amusement in their voices as they smirked.
Ron screamed in horror as he kept swatting his hands around while running back to the castle. The passing students snickered to see Ron behaving like a total doofus. Ron tried explaining to his fellow students about getting bitten by an invisible creature, but they just laughed and declared Ron to be going crazy. Harry and Luna breathed sighs of relief as soon as Ron was out of sight.
"Shall we get back to creature discovering, my sweet Luna?" asked Harry with a smile.
"Yes, we shall, my handsome Harry!" Luna replied in an ecstatic voice, returning Harry's smile.
Then Harry and Luna walked back into the woods while they continued holding hands, to continue searching for more creatures. Ron, however, wasn't getting any better because he kept screaming in pain from the bite-like feelings from the invisible creatures. The other passing students kept laughing whenever Ron tried to get someone to listen to him about the invisible creatures. It didn't take long before Professor McGonagall showed up to find out what was going on. When Ron tried telling his head of house about the creatures biting him, Professor McGonagall (who saw no creature and no evidence of any bite marks) escorted Ron to the hospital wing, with Madam Pomfrey declaring Ron to be going totally bonkers.
'No!' thought Ron miserably, as he spotted a mind healer approaching him.
Now the youngest male Weasley was required to undergo indefinite psychiatric treatment every weekend. But for Harry, he had Luna there with him and was free from Ron's negative influence. Luck was (in one of the rare moments) working in Harry's favour.
The End!
Author's note 1: I'd like to give a shoutout the user 'angelkitty77' for suggesting that Harry and Luna find an invisible creature to attack Ron and have everyone believe he was losing his mind everytime he tried explaining the invisible creatures and how they were biting him.
Author's note 2: Another one-shot finished (and the first series to be updated in 2021). Which girl should Harry be paired with in the next one-shot? Please let me know in a review or a PM, Happy New Year!
