Lena swallowed, feeling nervous, "Yes. What do I have to do?"
Kara stepped back and started to explain, "I will speak the magic words while we hold hands. Then our hands will start to glow gold and then I put my hand over your heart and you put your hand over my heart. We'll feel a surge of emotion when the bond is formed and when it is done our hands will return to their usual form and 'Kamati' will be complete."
"Ok, let's do it then", Lena said.
Kara took the pendant and placed it around Lena's neck. Then Kara took a step back, joined hands with Lena, took a deep breath and started the spell. Lena was so amazed at the magic that she almost forgot what to do next but when Lena felt the Kryptonian's hand on her heart, she placed her own over Kara's. Immediately, Lena felt a surge of warmth and emotion flow through her and suddenly she saw flashes of Kara's life in front of her mind's eye.
She saw and felt Kara's pain at the destruction of Krypton. She felt the happiness Kara experienced with her family and she felt the love Kara had for Mon-El and she was aware of so many other things she couldn't really grasp but knew where true. Then, quite suddenly, the visions stopped and the surge of emotion was gone and Lena was looking at Kara. Their bond was complete.
"Oh Kara", she said crying and embraced and held her friend like she'd never done before.
"Lena", Kara breathed through her own tears. "I'm so sorry about everything that you had to go through. I never knew how horrible it all really was. I'm so sorry", Kara sobbed into Lena's shoulder.
Stroking her friend's back, Lena whispered, "I'm sorry too, Kara, for everything that you had to endure. I'm so, so sorry!"
They stood there, on the balcony under the stars, arms wrapped around each other when Eliza's voice spoke softly, making them pull apart and look around.
